Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Trade-In Price Wiki
I guess I just don't get how if it's fake it rang up just fine and legit. That's why I'm not worried about anything. It's one thing if you try to scam them into overriding something, it's different if the system recognizes and accepts it.

I agree however, that had it been labelled a fake/fraudulant coupon (as it appears to be now) beforehand, I wouldn't have used it.

Good timing for those that got in before it was cancelled though.
that`s right ..the guy who works there was like : man, i wish i had it and he sannned it no questions asked
one guy at an another store asked the manager: she told him to scan it and it worked..she was like : it must be a new coupon

yeah i guess its dead now. glad i looked at this shit this morning. i never looked through this thread since i have no access to any gamerush and the BB's by me closed.

i dont believe this is a 'hacked' coupon. since it scans and accepted in their system. i think it was a coupon that was probably a dvd only deal but some dork found that it worked for games so they decided to photoshop the coupon. i could be wrong though since at this point nobody knows where it came from.

haha i just found out that a game is missing ...i have an empty case worth $5
i guess i got played on that one hahahah

I just got back from 2 BBs and they had just gotten the email miutes ago too, it would have worked at the 2 I went to since mainly college kids were working and would have had no clue. Oh well, only missed out on the deal of the YEAR!

Lucky me! I scored 6 games b4 the coupon is DEAD. I know when i returned back to the stores to pickup extra 5 more xbox 360 games. The manager told me .. you're very lucky we received memo "not taking coupon" 5 mins after u off the store. No go for me 2nd trip ... but i endup bought Tranformer Key Chain for $5 ... the cashier told it is Misprice cos it should be $10 instead.

Here's my Trip for the day

Bioshock (3 copies)
Halo 3 (2 copies)
The Darkness (2 copies)
Gear of Wars (2 copies) 1 Le version & 1 Regular version
Metal Slug Anthology (Wii)

I did the Trade in 3 XBOX 360 games worth $7.00 at Kmart for $48.XX after taxes. So i endup paid Less $30 for 10 Killer XBOX 360 games. Yay Yay Yay... i feel so Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood :)

no freakin way? which game is it? the ones i went to made sure that the games were inside before scanning them. i still cant get over how awesome this glitch deal was!

ok first, BBV cannot sue anyone that used a credit card. as stated in the last page, it would be too much legal trouble and bad press for them to do so, as well as it would be fraud on their part, and you could easily cancel whatever they charge you. The way that works is that the coupon had to be indeed real for it to scan and be in the system in the first place, so therefore whoever did this made a LEGAL transaction under the requirements stated by the fine print in the coupon.

second, after takling with a manager here in texas, the coupon was indeed REAL. there's just no way of telling where it originated from. they way this happened was that BBV runs "test coupons" in the system, they do this everytime before they release coupons to the public, it just so happened that this "test" coupon got out onto the internet and went viral, and BBV just found out about it this morning, resulting in them calling all major stores and labeling the coupon as fake.

the coupon was real, it just hadn't been released legitamately.

Lego Bionicle Heroes (XBOX 360) $7 net $15 Each (2 copies) and Cabela's Alaskan Adventure (XBOX 360) $7 net $15. I trade-in 3 games worth $21 plus taxes for $48.XX after taxes at Game Rush :)
I bought the games for $7 at K-Mart and flipped them for double my money in credit at GR
There that's less confusing.

Tried 2 stores. 1 did the deal no question, the clerk even laughed at my 215 dollar saving. The other took 20 minutes to say it was fraudulent. Anyhoo, I scored...

Bioshock x2
Madden 08 PS3
NCAA Football 08 PS3
Metal Slug Anthology Wii

26.08 total

Nice...made 108.75 credit at GS, covers guitar hero 3 and Wii Zapper preorders nicely.

Well, my question is this:

If they don't want the coupon out, why'd they test it in the first place? Of the places that I spoke to, several of them made a comment to the degree of "There's no way we'd sell 250.00 worth of games for 25.00".

I fully agree with you though, this was NO fake, it was in the system...but something is definitely fishy here.

which is what I'm saying. it was a test coupon, they where just seeing how it well it was going to translate into the system. they where probably going to run a special like that where the games had to be a certain price or under, and the coupon hadn't gotten to that stage of circulation yet before someone got ahold of it.

Exactly. None of this makes sense. The sole exception is that they made a coupon like this, but it contained a qualifier, like $9.99 or lower only... but when it was put in, it turned out to not have the qualifier attached in the system.

At this point, I'm just damn curious as to what happened here. Whether it be a 'test coupon', a fraudulent coupon set up by a disgruntled BB employee, or something else entirely... I just sort of want to know.

I don't think it's hyperbole to claim that this is the single biggest deal ever on this forum, and it's not nearly as sweet if it turns out to be a complete fraud.

The guy at the store that refused the coupon was flipping out about how it doesn't even make sense to sell 250 bucks worth of stuff for essentially nothing. At this point I wondered if his name was Archibald T. Blockbuster. As a register monkey who spends his days trying to sell X-men 3 on Gamecube I wondered why he was so bitter and why he cared. Then I realised I had answered my own question.

Well, it's not a complete fraud, I can tell you that with 100% positivity. Also it's not fake, it's just distributed early, without a qualifier, and only worked for what...12 hours before it got caught.

Pretty much, this "deal" is the equivalent of a price error, you get it while you can and then the store catches on and the "deal" ends.

This is one of the forums best deals ever though, I got 750.00 worth of games for 75 bucks!

Also, yeah, I REALLY want to know the truth behind this.

I haven't read the last few pages but I am guessing people are talking about the 5 for $25 on any Pre-owned DVDs and games. Coporate sent out a email today saying not to accept this coupon. I work at a Blockbuster in Oklahoma and we are a national store so sorry if you were going to try this later.
no freakin way? which game is it? the ones i went to made sure that the games were inside before scanning them. i still cant get over how awesome this glitch deal was!
i was in such a hurry to leave ...the game was ~marvel alliance~..who cares ?? i got 6 Bioshock and 2 big brain and virtua tennis 3

I stopped by the GR closest to me on the way home from work. I didn't even try it because my store has almost NOTHING worth a crap. The game section has been shrunk down and the few halfway decent used games are locked up in a glass case.

I hadn't read this thread since 7:00AM so I had no idea how quickly BB spread the word to their stores.

Its a coupon that was only for kansas, and this coupon was then posted on the internet.

It was meant to be used by very few people, and ended up being used by hundreds. Read the damn thread.

there ya go. its officially official from a BB employee.

This is why I hate working 10-7. If i had gone it right at 10 i would've probably had no problem.

My local store is the theives paradise, they get all the new releases "pre owned" the day after they come out. I would've made out like a bandit...

Wait, I'm in Kansas. Does this mean the coupon is legit here?

If you found the taco bell flier with it on the back then go for it, but it wont work because it was distributed nationally and wasnt supposed to be, so people used it and blockbuster withdrew it because they didnt mean for people to use this coupon in fraudulent ways. Its now set as expired.

Why the hell was it for Kansas only? Was there a reason BB was willing to risk thousands, if not tens of thousands, for the Kansasians?

I've been reading the thread. There was never any sort of confirmed explanation for it. The original post on another board claimed that it was from Kansas... and the OP only resurfaced and re-asserted that about 45 minutes ago.

Until then, there was only a shred of explanation for it, and no explanation on why the coupon was so obviously doctored.

So, thanks, but no need to be condescending.

I know I'm VERY late to this, but the coupon doesn't work in Newnan, GA. And I don't think I will ever go back to the Gamerush there either. Their handling of the fake coupon issue was very unprofessional and immature -- one of the guys working there was saying to his co-worker, "Is this the coupon you're talking about?" and shows it to the other guy. The other guy looks at it, nods and the first guy asks me "Do you want the coupon back?" I take it, mad and embarrassed that the coupon was a fake, and leave. I crumple it outside and walk out and the second guy gives me a look that makes me want to go back in and punch him in the face. I later called over there and voiced my displeasure rather graciously and calmly.

If you're in retail and you come across fake coupons like this, there are ways to handle it without being rude. A simple "sorry we can't accept this" will do.

And if that gentleman happens to read this, dude get a life.

Well, this has certainly put new life into our sleepy little GR thread .

I was by another store this afternoon and popped in. They had the sign up about the fraudulent coupon. I checked out their stock - like most BB's they had multiple Bioshock (former rental copies they pared down a few weeks ago) and multiple Spiderman 3, and a few others. I wish I had grabbed NCAA 08 instead of Spiderman 3 (last night), but overall I'm happy with my one purchase.

Except for the mass pillage of Bioshock, they won't be hurt TOO badly by this glitch. Most of these games would sit there until they go through several price drops (I'm looking at you Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Carribbean, and most of the others they had). They were mostly former rental stock (especially if it is a regular Blockbuster and not a GR) and mostly in questionable condition as well.

Now, the people that were able to pillage Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Orange Box, etc, sure hurt them - though even those, if they were former rentals like Bioshock, wouldn't have sold at $50 anyway.

Went today around noon PST, and had Crackdown, Smackdown '07, Eternal Sonata (sorry io and Scorch), COD3, and Gears in hand and ready to check out. The kid rang me up, but his co-worker ran over to point out the sign they'd just printed behind him saying it was a fake coupon. All in all, no go in Brea, CA.

Anyone wanna be a wonderful CAG and sell me a BioShock?

I'm gonna fucking kill myself for missing this deal. The one day in like 5 months that I don't check the GR thread because I'm too focused on the TRU one, I miss this. Wow.

The guy in front of me had the coupon too, I saw he got bioshock, good haul "guy before me". Fortanately I bought Bioshock with the B2G1 TRU. I managed to get these at duluth at 12:30.

ncaa 08 (all 360)
lost planet
Dead Rising
Saints Row
GRAW2

Don't attempt to try this at the Sunnyvale, Santa Clara Blockbusters - they're well informed about the fake coupon.

Least I got the Transformer mp3 player with purchase of the DVD.

Anyone feeling generous enough to sell me a copy of Bioshock, Lost Planet or Gears of War for $15-20 shipped? -_-

Dood, you tried to pass a fake coupon, whether you knew for sure or not. Take what you get and chalk it up. Getting angry at a business you're attempting to defraud with a seemingly too good to be true coupon leads to results like that...and worse.

Made off well earlier this morning at three Cambridge, MA stores. The clerks at each store laughed every time the total rang up. The sales clerk at the second location said that his buddy at first store called him up 5 minutes before I came in and told him about this guy who just raped the "company." Pleasant surprise: he was more than happy to help me rape them further.

2x Earth Defense Force 2017
2x Forza Motorsport 2
2x Guitar Hero 80's Edition
Shadowrun
Sonic and the Secret Rings
LOZ: Twilight Princess
Warioware Wii
God of War 2
MotoGP 06 (regretfully at the request of the buddy that drove me around)
GRAW 2
Resistance: Fall of Man
FEAR

I'm definitely keeping Zelda, Warioware, Earth Defense Force, and Sonic. MotoGP 06 is goin' to my friend.
As far as Shadowrun, FEAR, Guitar Hero 80's edition, and God of War 2- I'll play them for a short while and then trade 'em in.

Everything else is goin' straight to Gamestop or bein' traded on here.

One of the stores that I used the coupon at called me and asked me to return the games. I asked what would happen if I didn't, and the girl didn't know. I'm not planning on returning the games, and if they threaten me with something...well, they really can't do anything. If they put a hold on my account, it's no big deal, since I never use Blockbuster anymore.

I do wish, however, that I had laughed and hung up when the girl asked if I could return the games. I actually just said "maybe," but an evil laugh would have been so much better.

I heard through a..let's say viable source, that the reason this was caught so quickly was due to certain, shall I say, greedy customers buying 5-10 copies of Bioshock (and multiple copies of any newer used games). That would definitely set off some red flags in my book -- who on earth would need 5 copies of the same $50+ game. Not trying to start a flame or anything, but I think if people had all been a bit less greedy, others may have been able to partake in this deal of the century.

I saw the coupon this morning and wasn't even aware it was a fake until tonight. The games I attempted to purchase were priced very high (high being $24 - $34 range), so I guess you're right, I was trying to 'defraud' them. The games will now sit on the shelves for months on end until their next clearance sale, which I won't take part of at their store. I would say as a result of this, I doubt Blockbuster/Gamerush will do ANY deal/sales on used games or DVD's. So again, it will sit on the shelves for months on end until it is repriced low enough that someone will actually purchase.

I guess I should be glad I wasn't threatened with bodily harm like you seemingly implied.
Is there going to be a BB/GR Trade Thread? There usually is in this situation but...
I think that, for the most part, people tended to get the same items. This wasn't like a clearance, where selection is almost universally hit and miss. There were only a few things that other people got that I couldn't find, (Eternal Sonata, The Darkness), that it seems like most people in a trading thread would have similar lists.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Haha wow I can't believe they had the stones to actually call you. Anyone else receive a call? Did she say why she wanted you to return the games?

Well... I completely got deal-blocked in Sagnasty tonight. Truely disappointed, after my half hour drive. I was picking out my games and the girl made a comment what I was looking for and I just told her 5 games for the coupon.

Her response was, "Oh, I am sorry, that is a corporate coupon and we are a franchise store."

Which makes abso-freaking-lutely no sense at all. Last time I checked franchise stores honored corporate coupons, because they are paying for the corporate image and have no say in what corporate does.
