Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

I picked up Super Smash Bros Melee and incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction for $23 at one of my GR's, they were in the process of filling up a table full of the 50% off games. It looked like all they had left to do were the PS2 and 360 games.

I was going to pick up Jak 3, Justice League Heroes, and one of the Ratchet and Clank games but I passed.
I saw Suikoden V on the 50% clearance table at the game rush I went to earlier. Maybe it's a ymmv title but it was definitely there.
I think this is one of those "incompetently placed" items. I think Suikoden Tactics is actually part of the sale, and some employees are pulling Suikoden V thinking that is the same thing. Anyone who sees Suikoden V on the clearance table should nab it and make sure they manually adjust it down for you. Now, if anyone out there got it rung up automatically, then please let us know as that would mean it is part of the sale. However, I can tell you that my store has one and it was most definitely 100% NOT on the clearance sheet they got from corporate, so that's why I think it is not part of the sale (plus other reports here). But, like I said, you can use their ignorance to your advantage if they pulled it by mistake and put it out there with a clearance tag ;).

I saved my GR some money yesterday - they had a Madden 07 360 stuck in a security case with a $9.99 sticker on the outside of it (the game was properly tagged inside). I showed that to the manager and he removed it - figured it was the least I could do for all the deals I've gotten there ;). They probaably wouldn't have honored that anyway, but I guess it would depend on how pushy the customer was.

after reading through this entire thread i would like to know if these games are available at Blockbuster or is it only at Gamerush? becuase i have no GR around me

The ASM grumpily gave me a new Dawn of Sorrow for $17.99 due to that situation (all I did was ask if the price was correct). But I did probably save them some money in any case, since there were probably a half dozen other games in mistagged security cases that she went over to take off the shelf before ringing me up.

This was just this week? How the hell did they put a DS game in the clearance section when there weren't even any other DS games on clearance?. They deserve to get taken advantage of if they are that stupid.
This was just this week? How the hell did they put a DS game in the clearance section when there weren't even any other DS games on clearance?. Some moron must have been rearranging the DS games, because half of their stock was mistagged in security cases.

Yeah right, you read through the entire thread. You should have read the OP.

I just went to OC, CA - RSM and Lake Forest GR stores. They both had a good selection of games for all the systems. I was only looking for Backward Compatible Xbox 1 games to play on my 360.

I picked up the following for Xbox at these 50% prices:
Darkwatch $4.99
Call of Cthulhu $7.50
Conker Live and Reloaded $9.99
Incredible Hulk $7.50 a good game (this is not "THE HULK" which sucked)
Burnout 3 Takedown $9.99

I can confirm the following titles DO NOT ring up with .98 prices
Ninja Gaiden Black
Doom 3 (didn't see any CE versions)
Rainbow Six 3 (was only $9.99 regular price though)
Half Life 2
smething else I forget what it was...

Is this sale still active? I wouldn't want to have my brother drive me almost 10 miles just to figure out this sale is no longer in session. *:boxing:*...
Is this sale still active? I wouldn't want to have my brother drive me almost 10 miles just to figure out this sale is no longer in session. *:boxing:*...
No, its dead. The 50 posts today from people saying they'd bought stuff were all liars out to trick you.
Is this sale still active? I wouldn't want to have my brother drive me almost 10 miles just to figure out this sale is no longer in session. *:boxing:*...
10 miles? You are kidding, right?

For me it is a minimum 10 miles to ANY game type store.

Anyway, lookie here, trade-in prices:

:ps2: One Piece Pirate's Carnival: $9.50 (just to reiterate, with a GamePro coupon these are $5 at Best Buy and have been readily available for 1-2 months now - check near the registers)

:psp: PopoloCrois: $12.50

As an added (very YMMV ;)) bonus, I appear to have gotten double credit because I got $22 put on my Value card (according to the trade slip) and then when I went to rent a movie a few minutes later there was a $22 credit on my account. Damn, I wish I had brought Monster Rancher Evo with me. I'm not 100% sure on the Value Card - will see when I go to GR later.

Another interesting thing - the local BB was completely devoid of NEW games. They used to sell a handful and I wanted to see if any clearance titles were part of it. Yesterday at GR one of the employees there who normally works at a regular BB said they had 1 sale game at his regular store and they were told they can't sell any new stuff any more so it is in the back. WTF??

However, I did notice that my local BB had 2 Sixaxis controllers and 1 wireless 360 controller behind the counter for sale. That is nice as I was considering picking up a 360 controller at Gamerush before it closed but now I don't have to - I can spend the rest of my credit on the clearance games and build up more credit later for the controller if I need it.

Sad, huh. Also, including Circuit City around 15 miles away. These store locations which just so happen to be the only stores which ranges almsot that far off. Every other store "Bestbuy, Target, Kmart, EBgames, Gamestop, etc." are all right here.

Went to 2 stores and only found Viewtiful joe and Xenosaga that I wanted and a buncha old sports games a both store nobody wanted. I also asked for 2 trade-in prices: Monster Rancher EVO and Samuarai Champloo still gets $19 each.

Bit the bullet and got Champions Return to Arms for the full 30 as I never see it new or used anywhere. Hate that I missed it for 7.50 last summer at GR and for 13 at Walmart last fall. Oh well.

They're not part of the clearance, but 007 From Russia With Love was stickered at 20 and rang up 10 and COD2 was labeled 30 and rang up 15. Both of these were Xbox and I passed since I occasionally have seen them for the same prices elsewhere. Not quite low enough.

I'm disappointed with some of their clearance choices though. Castlevania COD and Toca 3 are clearanced for PS2, but not Xbox? Castlevania was a 1.99 BB clearance. And I was hoping Prey would be clearanced.

While people have been perusing the various shelves at their GRs, has anyone seen FFVI? Curious if I should try to go through the DM and get it transferred from another store, or just assume that no one got any copies and give up on it.

haven't seen new release GBA games at Gamerush in forever!

Went to a newer Blockbuster tonight, no Gamerush, and was pleasantly surprised to see the little endcap with 50% off games. Very good guest service, I wouldn't have seen them if the guy didn't point them out. Ended up grabbing Xenosaga for $8.49 total, but there was a lot of Super Smash Brothers Melee for $14.99, Metroid and a few others with prices I can't remember.

I've been to several BB/GRs (one on every corner in the ATL area) and I haven't seen a single FFVI. As a whole there's been very few GBA games. No Metroid either, darn it

I spotted Me & My Katamari (PSP) at one GR but it was locked up in a case; its always a nightmare trying to get a game out of the case there so I didn't bother trying to get it. Anyone happen to know if its on clearance?

I did get a chance to look at a drop list today. But in talking with the manager, each stores list only includes the prices of games they actually have. So say Ultimate Bread Maker 2000 drops to 5.99, if that store is all out (and naturally they would be, that's a HAWT title) that game and price won't be on the list.

I wish I could say that I saw some great titles which haven't already made their way to Shipwrecks OP, but I didnt. =\

I did get lucky though at the GR in Cartersville. They had Just Cause 360 on the 50% off table with bright pink stickers saying it was 17.50. You and I know it's $25, as they were supposed to bump up the regular price from $35 back to $50.

Not an incredible price, but the idea of the story sounds cool and it's been on the list for a while.
and COD2 was labeled 30 and rang up 15.
I'm assuming that's xbox and not 360?

Yeah, that COD2 was regular xbox.

The GR in Snellville made me pay 25 for Just Cause as I was really hoping for it to be 1/2 off the 35 price.

Oh and they still had a copy of Ultimate Bread Maker 2000, so I can pick up a copy if you want. Better hurry though as it will go quick!

Can you pick me up a couple of those Ultimate Bread Maker 2000's? I heard they were rare. THX

Looking at the way the prices of some of their games, I think they just looked at their list, saw that games A,B & C were to be marked 50% off, and markd them at 50% off of their current sticker. Without first bumping the prices up (or down) to their new "original price."

ZOMGosh, you're kidding! Is this the Limited Yeast Edition?!?!!

Hey, man, I hear Ultimate Bread Maker 2000 trades for $33 at Gamecrazy, so get me a baker's dozen, please ;).

I went back to GR tonight and got another stack of games. Well, first I returned NFL Street 3 and Godfather LE. Then I picked up Phantasy Star Universe for 360 and a few other things. I have no intention of going online with it, but I figured $10 (in real money) for a 360 RPG that is supposed to have half-decent offline content is not too bad. Funny I didn't even consider it yesterday.

It appeared that NOTHING had been touched from Tues afternoon until Weds near closing. Part of the problem might be that while they put everything up front in a rack by the door, they didn't say anything was actually 50% off, and of course they all still have their original tags. Odd...

My store has lots of Madden 07, NCAA Football 07, and Hitman for the 360. The leftover Xbox/PS2/GC stuff is kind of blah, but there's some GC trade-in potential there. I picked up another World Champ Poker (Xbox) for $3.50. Earlier in the evening I traded one for $5.50 at GC. I'm wondering how Viewtiful Joe and R&C GC would do? I think R&C GC is $7.50 at GR (they had 2 copies - 1 marked $19.99 and 1 marked $14.99). I also traded Da Vinci Code for $7.70 at GC - I think that's $5 at GR.

My GR has still failed to get the new R&C PSP game, Lunar Knights, Hotel Dusk, and, of course, FF VI. My very last preorder is Wario Master of Disguise but I kind of hope they DON'T get it as I preordered it at GC and can trade in stuff next week when I pick it up and get a 20% trade-in bonus as a result. So I'm trying to stock up on GR clearance games for that.

I am dangerously low in GR credit though. Unless I make a trek out to another regular Blockbuster (don't want to dump too many games locally) I may actually have to shell out real CASH MONEY at a GR if there's anything else I want there. I haven't done that in 2 years (I think I've spent a total of $10 there in real money, and that was on the trade 2 get a new game for $30 deal when I used it to get Pikmin 2 in Jan. 2005).

Here's the schedule for my GR: Last day of movie rentals is March 11th. The following week is a rental DVD clearance. They close for good on the 18th. They aren't sure what they are doing with the used games or even the rental games (you'd think they might clearance those as well but it sounds doubtful). Most likely all the gaming stuff will be sent to a GR in central/southern CA.

Just in case anyone is interested, one of my local GC has an new Atlus game in stock, namely Izuna: Legend Of The Unemployed Ninja for DS. I was pleasantly surprised as my local Gamecrazy did not get the title in at all.

Could there be a light at the end of the tunnel & GR starts to get a clue regarding ordering new games? Maybe...or really maybe not :)

Surprised to actually find some of the ones I was looking for...

GCN Sonic Heroes $5
GCN Super Mario Sunshine $10
GCN Metroid Prime $5
PS2 Castlevania: Curse of Darkness $10
PS2 Ratchet & Clank $10

Thanks OP!

In an utterly selfish manner, I certainly hope not as now that I will no longer be able to go to one I'd hate to hear they start getting tons of DS titles in a timely fashion .

Of course, what will probably happen is that the entire Gamecrazy chain will fold (have heard rumors about their troubles) and I'll be left with nothing but the ubiquitous EB/GS. Meanwhile GR will flourish and yet not reopen a store within a 3 state radius of me simply out of spite .

Which GR in SoCal did you go to?
Which GR in SoCal did you go to?
It is not in CA at all - that's just the closest place for them to send all the gaming stock once they close. The manager seems to think it will all go to Fresno, though I didn't realize there was a GR there. I thought the closest was Bakersfield (I know there are none in the Bay Area).

I could visit Fresno occasionally - it is only a 12 hour drive .

I thought you had purchased your games at a GR in SoCal. I'm still looking for a copy of Hitman (360) and Loco Roco (psp). Thanks anyway.

I hope they do send it here to Fresno.:applause: There are three GRs here. I went to all three on tuesday and wednesday. I only picked up Dead Rising although there were some other games like Lego Star wars II, splinter cell, madden....when are they going to send their gaming stock on down here?

They don't know (and I just asked). You may have already gotten the FF XI w/HD that they shipped off. And all the 360's that they shipped off...

Look, there's nothing too exciting in the new game stock at my store - just more of what you already probably have ;). They never had Dead Rising before the clearance started.

The manager finally agreed with me the other day that they should have just put ALL the games at this store at 50% off - new and used. It would save a lot of trouble with shipping. I can see Blockbuster telling them to ship individual games to stores all over the country .

While the ongoing clearance decimated their game racks (and I mean that in the literal sense as in 1/10th of the games, not in the misused way meaning "wiped out") there's still plenty left that they have to deal with. Plus it doesn't even look like they will get rid of all the clearance games within the next 2 weeks.

I picked up the Godzilla game (and thought I had listed it here).

But Wario Land 4 - I have NEVER seen that game. I mean, never, nowhere. Not just GR, but any other place... Wierd that it would sit there so long even at $20.
Found a few more to report:

XBOX

Playboy the Mansion - $2.50
WOW that is from last summer's clearance, it was last reported at $5.
WOW that is from last summer's clearance, it was last reported at $5.
Yeah, no kidding - I think Brian found a GR that time had forgotten...

If anyone can get the following trade-in prices, I'd really appreciate it:

:ps2: Arc The Lad End of Darkness
:ps2: Arena Football
:ps2: Prince of Persia Two Thrones
:ps2: Sega Classics Collection
:psp: 2006 FIFA World Cup
:psp: Mercury

I can't ask GR because all their trade-in prices are $0 now, and I can't ask my regular BB because they have no idea what they are doing ;).

I need to build up one last bit of credit before the end here... I'm down to about $30 now .

I wish they had a sale like this going when the GR closest to me closed (I know it's not a closing sale, it's just coincidental timing to the shuddering of your store). There are still a couple other GR stores within a 10 mile radius of me. It wouldn't take much to ship the stock to those stores but I wouldn't doubt it if they sent it all on a cross country trip blowing thousands in shipping. When my store closed I didn't notice any changes at the other stores stock.

Anyone pre-order Guitar Hero II (360) at GAmeRush? I was going to use my credit on this sale, but I think I may get this instead. How much was it in their system (if anyone pre-ordered).

Thanks once again for all the information, shipwreck! You're A Real CAG Hero!

Was able to pick up a Zelda: TP (GC) for around $28. Amazed they still had one! The re-pricing before 50% off is just plain weird. Dead Rising was like $60.21 or something and Zelda was $59.31 or so. (Those might not be exact cents, just what I remembered.)

I checked a few other titles that were not on the list to see if there were more that were missed, but I can confirm these are NOT part of the sale.

These games' prices ended in .99, meaning NOT ON SALE:

Sims 2 Pets (GC) NOT ON SALE (only PS2 version seems to be)
Sims 2 (PSP) NOT ON SALE
Star Wars: Lethal Alliance (DS) NOT ON SALE (only PSP version seems to be)
Mega Man ZX (DS) NOT ON SALE
Valkyrie Proifle 2 (PS2) NOT ON SALE
Dead or Alive 4 (360) NOT ON SALE
Black (Xbox) NOT ON SALE (I thought for sure it would be, but it wasn't)

There was a surprisingly friendly store employee there and she didn't mind checking, so I took full advantage of her courtesy. Just saving some time and curiosity for other CAGs.

I was going to pre-order Guitar Hero II at GR, but my local store has stopped taking pre-orders, saying that the system no longer really "orders" them. So if you do it, they may not get it. It's now kind of like saying "hold one for me" if one even comes in.

Since they can't guarantee it (which they seemed to have problems with even before this change), they just stopped taking them all together.

This is just my GR. Others may still be doing pre-orders.

Checked both GRs in my area and nary a copy of Dead Rising to be found. Well, used copies...but no new copies to be had at 50% off. If anybody can find one in their area I would be willing to discuss a trade.

Off the top of my head these titles were available in my area:

Enchanted Arms
Eragon
History Channel Civil War
Hitman: Blood Money
Just Cause
Lego Star Wars II
Madden 07
N3
NCAA Football 07
Over G Fighters
Phantasy Star Universe
Splinter Cell DA
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
World Series of Poker
XBLA Unplugged

Splinter Cell was marked $39.99 but rang up $59.98 before the discount. I didn't realize this unitl later so I took it back the next day and tried to convince the lady at the counter that I was charged incorrectly. She explained what most people here have already said, that the prices were bumped back up in the system for the clearance. I noticed that copies still on the racks still had the $39.99 sticker but didn't have the energy to continue the arguement. Did I give up too soon? Should I go back and try to convince a manager that I'm owed $10.00 because they were too lazy to relabel their stock?
