Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Capcom Classics 2 - $9.99
X-Men Legends II - $9.99
I think Wombat and Cheapy talked about it on a really old CAGcast, both remarking that it was pretty intense.
That's how it looks to me. The environment and story look appealing. I like the creepy-factor in games and movies (the few I see). But if the game has nasty stuff in it, I'll pass.

Which is why I'm asking for details. Most reviews I read are totally secular in nature, and that's fine. But that doesn't help me when I want to know if there's content I'd rather not be involved with.

So if anyone has played it, I'd really appreciate some info. =)
A couple more not in the OP:

XBOX

Halo 2 MMP - $10
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance - $5
HOLY CRAP!!!

Sell me that please!!!

Called all the Blockbusters around me. Only 1 I knew of that I frequent had new games, but discovered 2 others I hadn't been to for several years had a bunch of games plus all the 360 accessories. Almost got the quick charge kit, which I wanted for a while, but ran out of credit.

Got: Dead Rising, Lego Star Wars, Splinter Cell DA, 99 Nights.

More 99 nights and Just Cause available in Vail's Gate.

How much is the double agent
(XBOX 360) after clearance. I got it for $30 but I think few people got it for $20.
Can any body confirm. I got N3 too.

Since you mention secular reviews, I assume that your concerns are religious in nature? If so, I would recommend avoiding the game. I haven't played the game yet, but I've read the story it's based on. Spoilers about the book follow:

It's all about cult worship of an evil ancient creature/god (Cthulhu) from the stars who will someday awaken to rule the earth. Here's a direct quote from the book, ripped from Wikipedia:

"...the secret priests would take great Cthulhu from His tomb to revive His subjects and resume His rule of earth....Then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom."

It's probably not something you'd enjoy.

Is it only Gamerush-blockbusters? or can it be normal blockbusters as well, theres one near me that has that gamerush sign and one that doesn't so....:drool:

Thanks
only gamerush !!!!!!!!
Noobie, Do not mislead somebody else if you know nothing about it. Really do not like so many "!"? WTF?

This deal also works for normal BB if they sell new video games. Call your local BB before you go there. Only exception is the franchise stores.

C'mon, you have to go in on the last day, maybe you'll be able to get some free crap!
6 days left for my GR ... I may have made my last GR purchase ever yesterday.
Were you able to use up all your credit?

Picked up GCN Soul Calibur II for $5. Pretty good so far, thanks Shipwreck for the thread!

I just noticed a Gamerush near me closed down, not surprised since there was another one just a few miles down the street where I picked up Soul Calibur II. I also noticed in that second store that there were stacks of used games, the used game racks were pretty bare.

Could these have come from the store that closed or were they just reorganizing?

Yesterday I was able to pick up Xenosaga, Fable: lost chapter, Guitar Hero 2 and Dead Rising. But I was not able to get Elder Scolls: GOTY edition because it came up regular price($15). Has anyone had that problem?

Games don't seem to be flying off the shelf at my GR also. I think all the 360 games they had were still there (except MAYBE TW07 for 360). I was going to pick some up for trade, but no one seems to be willing. We'll see what they have today, as I have movies to return.

this is, in fact, only at blockbusters with a gamerush inside it, as if a blockbuster does not have a gamerush it does not sell new games, only used.

poor guy got attacked for proper information, i know i work there, you were saying all of this to yourself, haha, as you were the one misleading people

thanks

thanks
Once again, incorrect, but thanks for playing. Standalone BBs do often sell new games, just of a shitty variety. Almost every Blockbuster in the country probably has multiple copies of Metroid Prime.

Yeah, that's wrong. But it doesn't surprise me that you are a misinformed Blockbuster employee, so I don't blame you one bit.

All the information anyone needs to know is in the first post of this thread and I can personally confirm everything there as I wrote it and I know what I am talking about.

I just went to a larger Blockbuster WITHOUT a Gamerush and they had new games set aside at 50% off.

We have both GR and non GR here and they both have the discounted prices. I believe shipwreck over your standard BB/GR employee any day.
Spoilers about the book follow:
Wow. I've never played Cthulu but it sounds like Eternal Darkness on GC was heavily based on this. VERY similar sounding.

Regular Blockbusters sell new games here, they just have less stock. I grabbed some clearance games at the BB in Kokomo near my parents house last summer and that one is definitely not a Gamerush. However, BB stores with a Gamerush are definitely more likely to have a larger selection of games.

Do non-Gamerush BBs carry any of the obscurish games like We love katamari, MGS3 Subsistence, Fatal Frame III etc, or is it all stuff like Metroid Prime and Ratchet & Clank?
Were you able to use up all your credit?
I have about $60 left. Not sure if I'll use it at GR this week or save it for a trip (or trade) or spend it at my local Blockbuster.

I know that all the regular BB's around me used to carry a handful of games - and dinovelvet, they are usually going to be of the GH/PH/PC variety (e.g., I know I've seen such clearance goodies as SSBM and SMS before). However, it appears that the district has made some sort of new rule where they sell NO new games any more. A fill-in employee at GR was saying they had a few of the clearance games at his regular (non-GR) store and they were told to keep them in the back and not sell them. My local store always had 10-20 new games and when I went in at the start of the clearance they had zilch. I know they didn't sell them all as they'd been sitting there for ages.

My regular store does, however, have Sixaxis and 360 wireless controllers for sale. That is very strange - they are pretty much the only new gaming items they have besides some game guides (like KH II). I'm going to try some others as I'm driving around this week and see if any have new games. But it might just be a district thing. It really sucks though because the 75% clearance last year was really nice for transferring credit to EB and I actually used non-GR stores for a large percentage of it since very few of them had anything marked on sale.

Holy cow, who'd have thought it would be so hard to find Ninety-Nine Nights... I've called pretty much all the nearby stores and none have any new copies. I haven't bothered looking for any of the other games since I already have pretty much everything else from other sales or past purchases.

Anyone willing to send me one for $20 shipped? PM me, if so.

Hurray, found one. One of the stores I called said they had one, but when the girl tried to find it, she said they didn't have it. Not trusting her, I drove over, checked myself, and after dealing with her and her ignorance about the location of new non-rental games in person, I got myself a copy.

It's all YMMV. I've seen regular Blockbusters with a nice assortment of games but most stores seem to only carry a handful of titles.
can anyone confirmed that Grandia III is $15 or not? Thanks
I will confirm it. They had it marked at $30 with the blue sticker for half off.
i was there two days ago in the Los Angeles GR (National BLVD.)
No discounts bin
There's no discount bin, but check the new games sections and you will see the discounted games are marked with a blue dot. But note, the lady who marked them missed some that are half off, and she didn't mark ANY of the X360 games. But whatever is on the master list here was definitely half off when rung up - I picked up a few games.
Since you mention secular reviews, I assume that your concerns are religious in nature?
Exactly. I don't mind killing bad guys, but I don't like games like onimusha where you absorb evil spirits into your character... even Castlevania DoS I *want* to play, but drawing the different glyphs... I tell you I found a bunch of those at the BB clearance sale and passed on them. Okay, i didn't pass on them, I bought three and returned them because my conscience bothered me. That just isn't the sort of stuff I need to be involved with.

You're awesome to have taken the time to give me the LD on this. I picked CoC up earlier today and it looks like it'll go back.

Oh speaking of that GR, the Enchanted Arms set that the manager gave me for $10, I couldn't take the guilt of knowing she undercharged me, so I had them pull the $10 difference from my credit today. Now I have a whopping $3.14 in GR credit.
I got:

W Chap Poker Xbox $6.98 (NO 50% OFF)

.

.

Sonic Heroes Xbox $9.96 (NO 50% OFF)
The Thing PS2 $6.98 - $3.49 - $4.98 = -$1.49 ????
If this was all the same receipt, why are you saying no 50% off on Sonic Heroes but then taking what might be its discount and saying it applied to The Thing?? Or were these different purchases - if that's the case then that is freaky...

And also, I have a receipt right here that has "Xbox-World Championship Poker" ringing up $6.98 and then with a -$3.49 "coupon" applied. Of course you can't tell exactly which coupon goes with which game because they come up in a different order ;). The only thing to do is count the number of games and count the number of coupons - if they match, all the games were on sale. THEN you can verify pricing by adding up the regular prices and taking half, of course... It's just a bit difficult to do this at checkout with 10-20 games on one receipt ;).

Yeah, revewing receipts you'll see that the deductions don't appear until after every game is listed (at it's original price) and then the deductions appear in the order the games are listed.

So if you bought
Poker 6.98
Sonic Heroes 9.96
The Thing 6.98

in that order, and the deductions are then
-3.49
-4.98

that means that Poker was half price and Sonic Heroes was half price. More than that I could't say. it's too late for math.
this is, in fact, only at blockbusters with a gamerush inside it, as if a blockbuster does not have a gamerush it does not sell new games, only used.

poor guy got attacked for proper information, i know i work there, you were saying all of this to yourself, haha, as you were the one misleading people

thanks
NOOBIE, it doesnot matter if you work for BB or not. YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!. Attacked??? WTF!!! I do not know why people are always putting ignorant and stubborn together. Now I understand!!! Haha.

I'm happy to help. :D After reading your first paragraph, I should make clear that the things I mentioned all describe the bad guys - you'll play a human who discovers these things and tries to destroy them, and it's unlikely that you'll be using magic to do it. Think of it as Resident Evil, except instead of genetically mutated monsters, you're fighting something really evil. Still, it's a very dark story, and it's going to have a lot of imagery and ideas that you probably won't like.

Also, a lot of reviews say that it's a very difficult game.

Eh, bad guys is all a matter of perspective. Some of us probably consider the Christians to be the bad guys and don't mind killing them in a game, religion being the opiate of the masses and all that.

I went to a Gamerush yesterday where I saw that some of the titles that were supposed to be 50% off were still locked away in the case with nothing marked on them. If this sale goes up to 75% off with games still locked away in the case, I will be the proud owner of Guitar Hero 2!
Thanks karkyco. BTW your avatar is really ugly!!!!

I passed on Ninety-Nine Nights yesterday and Grandia III was marked at $29.99.
Just have them ring it up. When they finalize the sale, it should take 1/2 off. I can definitely confirm N3 was $15, and Grandia 3 was marked so it is as well.

Yeah I just find that pic amusing. I may switch it out soon.

Yeah, hopefully it goes to 75% in a few weeks...we'll see though. My store has about 7-8 copies of NCAA 07 for the 360. 3 Splinter Cells, and a few others I might like at that price.

Grandia III has not been part of the sale at any of the GR's I've been to, so they may have mistagged it or it just may be a really strange YMMV.

I went by my local gamerush....man NOBODY is buying. From 4 days ago not one single game has moved. I though games like 99 nights and zelda GC would be gone but nope...still there collecting dust.

I know that there are only select PS3/Wii/XB360 games that are included in the 50% off, but has anyone found games for older consoles like GCN/PS2/XBX that weren't included?

So far I'm under the impression that all old games are included, especially the ones mentioned here, besides a few that may not be such as Grandia III at some locations. Thanks ahead.
Yeah, hopefully it goes to 75% in a few weeks...we'll see though. .
Does anyone happen to remember how long it took for the 50% games to drop to 75% during the last clearance?
