OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).
Went to GR last night and traded in:

Vexx (Xbox) = $3
Ghost Recon (Xbox) = $7
Final Fantasy CC (GC) = $10
Almost traded Phantasy Star online Ep 1 &2 (GC) = $11

and picked up nfsu2 for xbox
Is that Ghost Recon 1, not Island Thunder or GR2?
Is that Ghost Recon 1, not Island Thunder or GR2?
Prolly is GR1....My roommate got $16 last week for GR2, i'll be trading mine in tomorrow and will update the price.
i just picked up gta: san andreas, so i think that whoever has it preordered should call and check if they got them in
Yea the store i get all my preorders from is getting bad about calling. They changed managers and got rid of half the old staff. The manager lacks the people skills the old one had and the new employees are tards. The store is going downhill now, although my outlook could be warped because i was cool with the old manager and staff and played on Live with them alot of times.

Quick question: the new trade in three games thing: I asked the lady at my Blockbuster about excluded titles and such, and she didn't seem extremely sure of what she told me - and it makes no mention of it on it's listing here, but she said PS1 titles count...true or false? Anyone try, cause I know the last thing like that (trade in three, get one for $10) you could. Thanks! ^_^
Question myself: Can you trade more than 3 game at one time? Like can I bring in 6 qualifying titles and get the deal twice at once?
Last time they did something like this, my BB let me trade in 6 titles for 2 games at the same time. Dunno how YMMV that was then, or would be now though....

Today I traded in

extermination (ps2) - 1.50
oni (ps2) - 1.50
Twisted metal: black - 3.00

I got a copy of metal gear acid but I haven't played it yet because my battery died during a heated game of tony hawks underground 2 :whistle2:(

I did that too when I traded in 6 games. Just dont straight out and ask if you can do it, you may raise suspicions. Just present the 6 games, and say is the deal still going on, and then just go grab your games. That's what I did. Heck, I even bought 3 games from the by 2 get 1 deal w/ lower game prices too on the same transaction. Well i maybe not the same receipt, but i had all the games ready to check out.

GR just declined the trading in of 3 PO games towards the purchase of another PO game for $5. They told me that the qualifying games must be over $5 trade-in value. I tried returning Maximo, Tony Hawk 3, and SSX. They told me I'd only get $1.50 for them, each.

Good news is, I got Metroid Prime 2:Echoes for $14.99. They must have made a mistake or something, I am assuming, because the game had a $29.99 sticker on it, which would come up to $14.99 halved. The game came up $24.99 though, w/a regular retail of $49.99. Upon deliberation and discussion amongst the entire Blockbuster staff, they overrode it. :D

:edit due to YMMV on the Metroid Prime 2 deal.

I would have busted out the flyer with the guidelines for the deal on it right on the spot. If that didn't work, I would resort to a hissyfit.

just wanted to tell cory thanks for his help this afternoon.....you guys really, really should be jealous because cory is a really nice guy to deal with....he helped with some questions i had, was patient letting me check out their stock of used games, and then even called me at home later when he thought i might have gotten a case with no disc in it, just to make sure i had what i was supposed to have.......

thanks again cory......

got bored since my girlfriend went home early, so i decided to go to another GR in the area. i traded in:

no one lives forever - 3
splinter cell: chaos theory - 30
ncaa march madness 05 - 12.50

got midnight club for 5 bucks. i went there to actually look at their ps1 section and scored:

star ocean: the second story
tenchu
dino crisis
digimon world 2
star wars: masters of teras kasi

all for $15. the csr also told me that the trade 3 get 1 for $5 is actually ending july 4. i don't know how accurate his information is, but has anyone else heard this???

picked up my preorder for san andreas.

traded in:

lumines-22
twisted metal head on-22
crash and burn-8
(finally got rid off all my psp games and accesories!) it was a good 10 weeks
got SW Episode III for xbox for $5

im pissed. last week i bought MC3 for xbox for 30 at gamerush, and now my gamerush has 4 used copies of it. sucks. ah well, $440 in credit is good enough;)

I traded:

JSRF (Xbox) - $3.00

Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX (Xbox) - $3.00

Haven: Call of the King (PS2) - $1.50

Picked up Dynasty Warriors 5 for $5.

I also picked up (all for SNES and $0.99 each):
1. Final Fantasy II
2. Final Fantasy III
3. Testris and Dr. Mario
4. Super R-Type
5. Legend of Zelda

...all for $3.22

The BOGO free deal was still going on for PS1 and I got (all sealed):
1. Azure Dreams
2. Final Fantasy Tactics
3. Master of Monsters
4. Ms. Pac Man

I want a sealed Azure Dreams  I haven't even seen a used one at any GR.

traded:

metal arms glitch in the system(xbx) $7
advance wars 2 gba $5
megaman battlechip challenge gba $5

got jade empire xbx for $5

i really am going to miss this deal.

traded in:

xbox Ghost Recon 2 - $16
GC Super Monkey Ball 2 - $8
GBA Zelda 2 - $1.75

Got Midnight Club 3 for $5

I tried to trade Crimson Skies disc and instruction manual only in a regular dvd case and the guy said he cant take it cause it wasn't in their computer. SOOOOO luckily i'd stuck Zelda 2 in my pocket because i dont really like that zelda and i only got MC3 to trade back in because i'm building up some $$$ a lil bit at a time and it'll bring $30 credit.

Also scored 2 Wavebird rechargable batteries for $.99 each and picked up my GTA:SA preorder, so it was a pretty good haul. :)

I'm gonna go back over today and see if they have anymore of these battery packs in the back and check out their gameboy games. I was in a big hurry on my way to work when i went in last night and 95% of the employees at this GR are RETARDED (they just had a manager change and new guy cleaned house and hired tards).

I'm pretty surprised that an employee actually put those out on the floor for a customer to buy.

Why is everyone suprised if someone finds games like those? Not everyone is into gaming or collecting and I believe most people don't know the value of some of the older games. To them its just some old junk collecting dust and thats works out great for us.:)

I wouldn't be too surprised -- I've seen the leftovers (managed to pick up Tetris & Dr. Mario and Breath of Fire myself) and I've heard from a few GR employees about people who've brought in older systems along with a pile of games that they just want to get rid of.

i dont have any gamerush stores around, but lots of blockbusters, anyone know if i can get in on the 50% off deals at a blockbuster? doesnt seem like they sell new games. :(

Yeah, I actually got an FF2 (cart only) for $0.99 about a month ago. I also got a dreamcast and two controllers (because they didn't want to bother selling it seperately, I guess) for $9.99. So yeah, rare stuff does pop up from time to time.

I got 3 more Wavebird rechargable battery packs this morning at a different GR. They had a GBASP recharge stand i was about to buy for $1.99 but after closer examination it was just a stand you plug your ac adapter into it and your gbasp into the stand.....

Anyone needs a battery pack and wants to pay for shipping it to ya let me know. Or I can trade for something.......

I have no need to lie. I could not believe it either when I saw those games.
All the SNES games were carts only.
They also had a few others but not worth getting.

It's hard to believe, in the sense that in this day and age of the internet, Ebay and shows like Antique Roadshow, people would at least think twice before settling for pennies.

With regards to a couple poster's questions... I don't believe you can trade in PS1 games. I asked a couple stores and they said just current gen (PS2, GC, XB)... Also, I too had no problem trading in 6 games at a time (for 2)... I just asked a lot of questions and acted all naive about the deal.

I actually got rejected at one Blockbuster. I was trading in some of my old sports titles (Madden 2003, March Madness 2002, etc) and they said they were too old (only titles 2004 to present). The clerks said the computer would not allow me to trade those games in (not sure if he was lying to me or what)... I walked out sad since I was able to trade in old sports game just 2-days prior (for KOTR2, Smackdown VS Raw) at a different location. I thought BB had updated the computer database to not allow anymore old sports titles.

But I went to another Blockbuster and they couldn't have been nicer and more expedient about the process. So I traded 6-games and walked out with both Mercenaries and Battlefront (both for Xbox) for $5.35, which put a smile back on my face and made my day!

A lot of times when I'm at BB/GR, I would see mothers with their kids trading in games they dont play anymore. They would bring in stacks of games and trade them in for credits, and turn around getting a couple games the kids want, like Hulk or Spiderman or something. I mean there are families that don't know much about values of used games, they're just the kids' left-over toys. Heck, a lot of my relatives threw away Legos too, not knowing that they worth quite a bit on eBay.

You're not supposed to be able to trade in any sports titles older than 2004, it specifically says so in the terms of the deal, so you got lucky there.

Yeah, I had about 30-40 Atari 2600 games and a Colecovision with dozens of games and I had left them at home when I went to college/grad school/life, and then forgot about them over the years. When I asked my Dad about them a couple years ago he said he sold them to "some guy for $50". Now, what he really meant is he probably PAID someone to take them because he is NOT good at getting deals. I think he threw the $50 figure in to make it seem like he got something for them because he realized I had wanted them (he never warned me or told me I had to get rid of them - I would have gladly taken them back). He wouldn't give me any more details either, so maybe he did dump them at a yard sale (at the prompting of his new wife).

Let this be a warning to those of you who leave home and your Dad gets married in the meantime - the new woman will want to get rid of ALL your old junk and make the space hers, so grab what you want before it is too late :D. It's not like they were in the way - I had packed them all into one box in a dark corner of his unfinished basement - but OH NO, she had to have all that stuff cleared out :D.

At least I was able to salvage my original Star Wars figures (thoroughly played with and probably not worth squat except for sentimental reasons).

Anyway, the point is that it would be very easy for NES/SNES games to end up at a GR or similar place. That would have been too much trouble for my Dad (I'm sure no big stores take Atari/Colecovision stuff anyway), but I could see some other parent cleaning house and getting their younger kids/grandkids a new game with the proceeds from your old stash of games.

Has anyone got GR to take the metroid prime game that came bundled with the wavebird?

I tried today and they wouldnt take it because it says "not for resale." If i take the cover off, does the disc say not for resale as well? My copy is unopened so I hate to open it just to find out it says not for resale on the disc.

Our store got a call from the DM today, and thankfully he finally decided to take action against flippers. As reported earlier, the deal will now end on June 20th. Until then, we are to allow each trader to use the $5 deal once per day.

My only question is, why don't we just limit each trader to using this deal once per day, and let the deal run to September like it originally was supposed to? This is a great deal and is one of the most popular among non-flippers. With the right limitations in place it cuts losses and still generates a lot of positive word of mouth. I'm not sure that Blockbuster is ever going to understand games...

Im not gonna say that sucks, mainly because at most ive done two $5 deals, but it is kind of weird that they cut the date to something so close. Well, it was nice while it lasted, and i now have games that i liked and the ones i dont are elsewhere (Jade Empire, Untold legends, etc.)
