GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

Picked up Modern Warfare (PS3) and World at War (360) from the Gamestop at Beverly Blvd. They still had a few copies left yesterday.

Damn, that's just too funny. Can't stop laughing.

I'm debating going back and picking up Saw or Dissidia. Maybe HotD: Overkill but I hear it's really short.

Anyone got any recommendations on Saw or Dissidia? I didn't like the demo for Dissidia, but I heard the game is really fun...

I highly recommend Dissidia if you even slightly enjoy the FF universe/games. It's insanely good. Easily worth full price, let alone the sale price.

I've never played Dissidia, but Saw is definitley a good one. If you are a fan of the movies you know exactly what to expect. They did a great job of capturing the feel of the movies.

Is it ok to return the "gutted" copies for a full refund? I know it says opened copies can only be returned for the same game within 30 days. But since it was given to me as already opened how would they know if i "unsealed" it or not?

Wow, this sale lasts so long I can stack up two whole paychecks to do it! I'm going to get Persona 4, Disgaea 3, and a used copy of Persona 3 FES. All 3 GameStops around me have all of these in stock.

Around here they put a large round plastic sticker on the gutted game to "seal" it, and the game is only returnable if the sticker is still intact. Of course, (more than) half of the time they don't bother unless you specifically ask for it, making the game just non-returnable.

You might be able to argue that they didn't do anything to seal it and it's in the condition that they gave it to you in (i.e. opened at the store, but not by you, despite the lack of a sticker), but that's going to be YMMV.

Does anyone know if a patch was ever released to fix the controls in the 360 version of Alone in the Dark or not? After looking through the reviews again, I'm debating whether I'd be better off returning the copy that I bought the other day (which I haven't opened yet) and dropping the extra $5 to get the PS3 version instead.

Alright guys something weird just happened. I brought a couple games to the store that i brought online since i didnt like them and just wanted to exchange them. The cashier then said that to return/exchange games i brought online, i have to send them back to the warehouse or something since online and in store are "different prices". Has anyone else ever been told this by gamestop before?

Anyone having trouble tracking orders via the Order History page? My order closed and it said it shipped already. The tracking # worked earlier but it doesn't now. Says that the the info is unavailable.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

I think "shipped" shows up as soon as it's in a box waiting to get picked up. I was lucky enough to order a copy of Afrika while it was in stock for a few hours the other day ($26 and change after edge+cag16) and all day yesterday it said verrifying, then pending. Today it says shipped...but today is Sunday wich means USPS isn't even open.

I played the Dissidia demo for a considerable amount of time and didn't think the game was that great. Characters don't really seem balanced, and it just wasn't interesting to me. It's cool to play as your favorite FF characters...but the fun factor wears off. But that's just my opinion, I know a lot of others claim to like it.

Disgaea 3 is an awesome game and would recommend picking up if you're a fan of the series.

As for Sacred 2, I would suggest going to check out the video review of the game on Gametrailers. They gave it a much lower score than the average, but seeing the gameplay will give you a good idea of whether you'll like the game or not. Personally, I'd suggest saving your money and time for something more worthwhile.

I said that same thing about the Dissidia demo, but I've been told by several people now that the demo isn't really representative and that the actual game is much, much better. I can't speak to that yet, as I haven't received my copy (ordered it on the website at the start of the sale when the 20% off PSP games coupon was still working, just shipped yesterday), but I figured for this price I'd give it a chance.
Yes that is the only way they came. Unless of course GQD reprints it

Or even better if Atlus gave it the same treatment that Persona 3 did with FES :D
Yup, all Persona 4 releases have the first disc of the OST. There is a 2nd disc that came with the LE add-on (it had a doll and some other things -- but no game).

As for the FES treatment on P4, I don't think that'll happen. P4's creators were very clear about not having any plans to produce an FES version of P4, and I think Atlus knows to do so may deter buyers from purchasing its Persona games on day-one. FES was a special step taken for a very popular title (one that needed an epilogue, IMHO).

P4 doesn't need that. I haven't finished it but reviews say the story wraps up rather nicely.

FES was a special step taken for a very popular title (one that needed an epilogue, IMHO).

P4 doesn't need that. I haven't finished it but reviews say the story wraps up rather nicely.
There was a Persona 4 LE? Never knew it, just thought it had an art book. Then again, its impossible to keep track of all the extras given out with games these days. I have a hard enough time figuring out which of my games came with giftcards when I purchased them (for accounting purposes).

Probably going to pick up Disgaea 3 and possibly BlazBlue.

After going to a few different locations, I finally came across one store that only gutted one display copy per game. Unfortunately, they were already sold out of Rabbids go Home and COD: WaW. I did get a sealed Persona 4.

Also, I didn't realize the wireless PS2 controller (for 14.99) was the Logitech brand. I picked up two to use with the PS3 since I already have some PS2-to-PS3 convertors that I use with my X-arcade sticks. I've tested them on a couple of games and so far they have worked without any problems. I may have finally found some comfortable controllers to use on the PS3, save for the motion required games of course.

Picked up Fuel for PS3 for $12.99.

Looked like they gutted everything but at least they took the manuals out of the boxes and kept them with the disc.

I picked up a factory-sealed PS3 Disgaea 3 yesterday :D

I still haven't found a GS with a factory-sealed PS2 Persona 4:cry: I might have to just give in and pick up the gutted copy of it.

I finally picked up :ps3: Bayonetta. The store I went to gutted all of their copies. I prefer a sealed copy when buying new and could have driven to one of the other 2 GS stores within 5 minutes, but I like the cashier that helped me...plus he took the time to peel all of the stickers off of my case without leaving any residue.
More than likely it sold so well that most people who were willing to pay full price for it have already bought it at this point, and because of that sales have dropped off dramatically since.
I find it more interesting that Arkham Asylum hasn't dropped more. It's getting close to having been out for a year at this point, but it's still going for $40 at best and $50 at Gamestop. Since it sold so well and so quickly I'd assume that a price drop of more than $10 would have made sense. Putting it out for a deep discount for Game Days would have made even more sense since the GOTY edition is coming out soon: you'll move out a lot of the older copies to people looking for the best deal, but the new edition is still lurking out there to keep the rest waiting. Not to mention helping to keep it in the public's mind and drum up publicity for the GOTY edition.

Same deal with some of the Greatest Hits titles that didn't make the list in North America like Resident Evil 5 (and same deal as Arkham as the new edition is already out) and inFamous. They're clearly at a point in their release life where Gamestop isn't making tons of money by grinding it through their "pre-order the latest release, beat it in a week, and return it for a pittance so we can sell it for $5 off" business model. They're also far enough away from release that the used copies probably aren't flying off shelves anymore either. Gamestop isn't a long tail-oriented company and as soon as it isn't the latest hotness I wouldn't think they'd want to devote shelf space to more than the bare minimum number of copies, and of those that they'd prefer to keep pushing their high-margin used copies rather than keep new ones in stock.

Right now is probably the last chance to dump Assassins Creed 2 on Amazon.com and get good credit. The trade in value is $25 and the game is selling for $29.99. I have a feeling $29.99 is going to be MSRP pretty soon. Target, Best Buy and GameStop have had this game for "sale" at $30.

Dump, dump, dump for $25!

Picked up Xmen Origins Wolverine for 360.
It was the last one there so I didn't mind that it was gutted.

Still wish they gave a slight discount on it though.

It wasn't an LE edition of P4 but more like an LE add-on, meaning Atlus sold the extras by themselves independent of the game. Amazon had it for a while but I never bought it -- it was way too much for what was being offered (IMHO).

I got a sealed copy of House of the Dead: Overkill. $.23 for me out the door as I used the last of my Xmas giftcard.
Guy asked if he could help me and I asked if they still had any (none on the floor) and he got one from behind the counter and said he didn't realize they were out. What sense does that make?
The whole gutting thing is stupid. I doubt there is anyone outside of corporate would feels as strongly about keeping that policy as those who dislike it want it gone.

My guess would be for that for Arkham Asylum, they really don't want to sell a lot of cheap copies of the game before the GOTY comes out, because I would really be surprised if that many people who own the original are really going to pay again to upgrade. I mean, really, what do you get? A handful of extra maps (some of which are already available as free DLC) and a gimmicky 3D mode. I know that I have no plans to bother upgrading, and if I didn't own it already, given the choice between a cheap copy of the old version or a full-price copy of the GOTY version, the cheap old version would win all the way.

After being fortunate enough to find a sealed Persona 4, I was putting away my wallet when I see the clerk vigorously circle the customer survey info on each of two receipts - directly on top of my just-purchased sealed Persona 4 - with a ball point pen. So the case insert - at the very least - is now embossed with this helmet's penmanship. Some of the gutted copies are in better condition.

I don't usually do those customer surveys, but I will now, and it will be a beaut.

I was fortunate to find another sealed copy elsewhere, and as soon as the receipt was printing and I saw the clerk reach for a pen, I grabbed my game.

I'd ask any retail employees reading this to try to use their brains, but for those that don't already, it's probably a lost cause. So I'll just warn CAGs who care about the condition of their new games: NEVER take your eyes off your purchase until it's in your possession - because common sense, isn't.

just went and got Persona 4! finally i got it in my hands, for cheap! and it was in a weird spot too, i think someone was trying to hide it. found it in the middle of the used ps2 games haha.

If someone was trying to hide a ps2 game I doubt they'd hide it with the ps2 games. Any chance it was in between Okami and Quake?
any news on the b2g1 sale?
I haven't heard anything, I'm saving some money for when it comes though, really want to know when lol.

Does anybody know why when you go to GS's PC section, WOTLK and BC say MAC underneath? I always thought Blizzard released only one version that works for both, not two separate MAC and PC versions.

Picked up Sacred 2. Wanted to get a Diablo fix but didn't want to dish out $40 for it. $20 is much more acceptable. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks, OP. Ended up picking up copies of :360:Prototype (I loved Hulk:UD, so this was an easy pick-up at this price), :360: Sacred 2: FA (seems kind of like Baldur's:DA gate, which I liked on the GC), :360:Sonic's UGC, & :wii:Cursed Mountain from the Ft. Wright, KY GS.

All copies were gutted (they said they had no sealed copies of any of the games), but I didn't want to risk searching around for copies of Cursed Mountain or Sacred 2 later on, holding out for a possible B2G1F sale.

Blazblue used comes out cheaper with cag16/edge, and I'm not very picky on ps3 as it's guaranteed to have the insert/manual and I'm sure the disc will be fine. Hmmm.
Are prices gonna drop further like they did last year?

on whatever they have left in a month I'd assume so
I didn't know the prices drop if the games don't sell :whistle2:|
I wonder if all the games I bought will still be available in a month and if they will drop a few bucks. I won't feel like a successful cheap-ass if that happens.

I would love to get Call of Duty 4, however I simply cannot, not because of Game*Stop, but Activision, they are so damn greedy its just ridiculous
