GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]
Trying to decide if I should get one of the :wii: House of the Dead games... Does anyone know if the Overkill one is the one to get or are both games worth picking up at this price?
The girlfriend and I bought it for $15 off of amazon. Got through it in a week, didn't really have fun with it, traded back into amazon. It has a campy B-movie feel, which is radically different than the original, paniced, intensity driven games. As a result, the game just feels different and wasn't fun for us. It tries to be humorous, didn't do it for me, depends on how much you're into that.

No opinion on the Returns game.
I posted before about planning to return my gutted Persona 4 but didn't realize they're supposed to seal it to consider it unopened (the GS employee didn't, of course). I really hope there won't be an issue with a return. At least there's another GameStop 2 blocks from where I bought it, so I have an easy second chance if I get shot down at the original store.
Good luck with that. I didn't even pay attention when I bought AC2 and Sacred 2 that there was no seal on them, and when I decided to take them back and get them cheaper used online, the girl flat out said they aren't sealed, we can't take those back. I said they weren't sealed when I got them, can we go look at the display here? She wasn't being helpful and I was on my lunch, so I left. I'm not hugely pissed about it but it seems pretty shady to sell unsealed games and then not recognize them as such. May go back after work and try again...has anyone else come across this during this sale?

bah i went to Gstop to try to get the fallout trilogy for pc. check online to see if it was in stock it apeared so went to store nope not there. does the online store availabilty always say its in stock even when its not in stock at the store

It's usually fairly accurate. But it normally says " in stock as of this morning" or something like that. Maybe it got sold earlier. Or they have a copy in the wrong spot/lost etc.

Do they work with the Wii Zapper and if so, do you have to use the forward trigger or is there a control scheme that uses the back trigger?

The one in Greenbrier. The employees were really nice about it, manager even said he was going to have to get ACII at that price.
I would go with 2 & 3. I haven't played them on the Wii, but I played them both on other systems and they are much harder games than Overkill. The difficulty in Overkill is a joke. My wife and I finished the game in ONE NIGHT, then went through the Director's Cut mode in another night. Two nights and we were through. You get a ridiculously powered up revolver after beating the game the first time so your second play through is like playing on easy. There are medals and stuff you can earn but the only thing you get out of them is worthless. There are some other weapons you can unlock but once again, they make the game super easy. Honestly I don't get the hype for Overkill. I really should have rented it.

I remember using the Wii Zapper and I'm pretty sure you have to use the front trigger. I don't remember 100% for sure though.

They didn't slap a seal on mine, either. I kept a watchful eye on their site about the game being in-stock at the store. Took a chance and went back with my gutted, cover stained in chocolate game. Explained the situation. Guy went to the drawer, plucked out a sealed copy.
Their system is supposed to update at 8am EST (hence why it says "in stock as of 8AM EST" on the stock status ;)). But yeah, as someone already said, their stock tracker is not always, um, entirely accurate. I've gone to GameStop looking for a title listed as "in-stock" on line several times now where they haven't had it, and the employee has looked in their computer and said that they in fact hadn't had it for months. Some of those stores were still listing that title as in-stock for weeks or months after that, even. That was for rarer titles, though -- for the GameDays titles, it's probably more likely to be accurate (if for no other reason than they're getting more stock of those).
I had that experience with Persona 4 when it was on sale for $19.99 a month or two ago (before GameDays). One store said it had it in stock, I called, they said they hadn't had it for a long time and people were calling them, but they claimed there was nothing they could do about the system showing that they had it in stock.

People have to realize that GameStop is basically held together with dental floss and monkey poo.

That's one problem I wish MacGyver hadn't fixed.

I tried to get Disgaia 3 this morning at 2 local Gamestops and both places had it up for $39.99. The manager at the first store told me he had no idea where I pulled the $19.99 price from and the one from the second told me that the game wasn't part of the Game Days sale and that the $19.99 price was more than likely online only. He also told me that the list of games for the sale changes every week so maybe that was one reason why Disgaia was regular price.

I ended up getting it online at GS w/ the extra 10% off coupon so it came up to the same as it would have been had I been able to purchase it at the store.

I ended up getting it online at GS w/ the extra 10% off coupon so it came up to the same as it would have been had I been able to purchase it at the store.
Those are the types of stores that are run by idiots.

From what I gather, the price doesn't fully come up until they have the total come up completely (after discounts and tax are factored in). I nearly got charged $30 for P4 about a week ago until the guy hit total to ring it up at $20.

And obviously the Game Days deals don't switch around weekly since GameStop's weekly thing starts on Fridays and no changes have come up. Not to mention, there's rarely ever been an addition or subtraction form the GD sales of past.
Welcome to the world of Gamestop where opened games are new, but ONLY when THEY sell them. If you bring back an opened unplayed game you bought from them, it's automatically used. Because you're not a Gamestop.

So, my GS online order came in yesterday and today. Persona 4 (PS2) was factory-sealed, but the Rabbids Go Home (Wii) was a gutted and resealed game:cry:. Since I haven't opend up the Rabbids Go Home game, can I easily exchange it for a factory-sealed one in-store at a GS? Has anyone done this before successfully?

I was looking at getting the World of Warcraft Battlechest for $20 a few days ago but ended up delaying my decision. I was going to order it today but the price on the website has been changed back to $40 and I don't even see it on the sale anymore??

I called up the local gamestop and they were trying to convince me that it was never on sale and I must be thinking about the Warcraft 3 Battlechest.

Picked up :ps3: IL 2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey yesterday. Good price point at $20.

If you're even remotely interested in flying/aircraft games, it's a good pickup. However, get the PS3 version. It sounds like an important patch was released ONLY for the PS3 version.

I went to a different GS to return my gutted P4 since I was out shopping today. When I explained to the manager that I wanted a sealed version (and mentioned that I bought a replacement online), he understood right away that the original store hadn't sealed my copy and cleared the return. He did check that there weren't any scratches on the discs.

If anyone gets turned down at their store trying to return a gutted game, try going to a different store. They might be more understanding / willing to buy that the first store was incompetent about sealing it at purchase-time.
So B2G1...

First week of sale? No.
Easter weekend? No.

Looks like anybody still holding out for this can give up hope
Ya, I used all my credit yesterday after asking if there was a B2G1 soon. Bought Bourne, Wolverine, and Birds of Prey. Would get Disgaea but to me it looks the same as Disgaea 1 and 2.

Returned a gutted copy of Bayonetta but got a tiny hassle. Guy said couldn't return a gutted game, explained to him that I bought it here gutted and he let me return it. When I purchased the 3 games mentioned above, he used used some kind of bag-like wrapper so then if I returned it I would have to not have opened the bag-wrap-thing. If they have those, why not just use them when selling gutted new games instead of telling customers they can't return open new games?

I'm pretty sure the guy at my local GS was a guy from a GS closer to my school. I just didn't comment on it.

yea, pretty sure the WoW battlechest was never on sale, tho the expansions were, alone, i think. (i could be wrong tho, but i only remember the warcraft and diablo battlechests)

Don't know if it was mentioned before but I got a tip from a Gamestop employee so i'm not taking any credit for this, not like I care anyway.

Anyways, it looks like Gamestop is selling MLB 2K10 for $2.99 (PC downloadable version) on MLB's opening day ONLY. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Well if you look at the first page of this thread it's listed, I saw it on the website a few days ago too but it seems like its changed now.

The GS near me had Guitar Hero Van Halen in the Game Days box for $9.99. I didn't realize it wasn't in the master list. (I wonder if they confused it with Aerosmith maybe).

Thats what i did, i bought all the games first in store, But then the FG10 code came up. I Returned the game to the store and the manager asked me why. I Just told him it was cheaper on their website with a discount. He just said "Oh rly?" while raising an eyebrow and took the games back. Was pretty cash

Maybe it's a new addition?

An FYI that I visited Gamestop in New Jersey yesterday and found the NDS Prince of Persia game for 9.99.

I'm not sure if it was a mistake, or that store / region only. However, they might be trying to meet Big Lots which has the game for 9.99. Or this could be a sign that they are starting to further lower the prices on some of the games.

Apologies if this happens to be a repeat of information you already know.

I ordered Fallout 3 the other day through this sale and used the 15NEW code and it knocked it down to $16.99, plus 2.99 shipping which put it at $19.98.

For me it is a 100% free purchase cus I just got my 4th GS $25.00 gift card for doing surveys through e-rewards..I even have 5 bux left on it for a future purchase..

has anyone ordered Bioshock? With certain coupons it'd be like $11-13, wouldn't mind paying that just to have a sealed copy in my collection, but the ones I saw in store were all PH, so I'm curious if anyone has ordered online and whether or not it was PH, if it's gonna end up being PH then it's pointless for me to have a sealed/ just for collection copy..

the picture on the website shows non-PH tho, so hmm..

Bioshock has been PH for a long time. You are very likely going to get a PH box.

I did order it, and it was a PH copy. Didn't really matter to me, but yeah, if you're specifically looking for a non-PH copy for collector's purposes, don't bother.

That's so weird about getting GS gift cards through e-rewards. I have e-rewards but GS never listed as a reward. I signed up through Delta. I noticed one time that GS asked me to sign up and they had their gift cards as a reward. Is that how you signed up? I should ask e-rewards if they would provide me with those gift cards

Yeah, just received mine a couple of days ago. It is the PH version.

Im having fun flipping from blockbuster to get gamestop credit, then going online and buying USED copies of the games on sale with cag 15 and edge to get really good deals on them.

And just because I flip it doesn't mean I hoarde.

Save your El Hoardo talk for someone else, heh.

Uh . . . thanks for sharing?

(This has what to do with the topic of the thread, exactly?)

What do you mean what does it have to do with this thread? It's a good way to get the games on sale from the gameday sale even cheaper because the used prices are only valid online. as well as getting to use cag 16 and edge...

Yesterday, all 5 of the games I ordered on Saturday came in, even though they shipped in three different packages.

Ordered :ps3:Sonic's UGC and :ds: Bejeweled new, and :ps3:Sacred 2, Resistance 2, and :ds: New Super Mario Bros. used. The two used PS3 games came complete, but the used ds game was game only. I bought it for my wife and thought she would be disappointed, but she didn't mind.

Oh, sorry. I got so caught up in your little "don't call me El Hoardo even though I clearly know I'm hoarding (otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up in the first place)" rant that I totally missed that you were buying sale games with your "earnings".

I totally forgot when they start to clearance price drop these games.

Is it after the sale 'officially' ends (April 26)?

Or do they start dropping it a week or two ahead of time?

I am getting impatient as I am noticing a couple of the games I want the stock is getting pretty thin, yet, I dont want to buy it this week and next week it drops.
