UPDATE: May 26

Yeah...still no list, BUT

CAGs have been mentioning lists received by stores and new price markings taking place. Its all a matter of us drilling employees for info or attaining the list.
-----------------------------------------------

Just noticed the Game days sale ad in the latest game informer. Last year's sale was pretty decent so its worth a thread. I'll try to post the ad and coupon later. Best part is the coupon doesn't say anything about being void if copied. No specifics yet on the sale.

"Hundreds of games and accessories up to 50% off"

Things to note:
- Should stack with edge (assuming there are used deals).
- Offer ends 6/30/08
- If you know the specifics, let us know!

Canada's Sale ( not known to be the same as the one here in the states)
The SEGA SUPERSTAR TENNIS for $14.99 for XBOX 360......plus the 10% off coupon plus the edge makes it worth flipping cuz it still gets $30 or $28.50 correct?

any other good deals to flip?
i doubt it would still get that much after the sale

Oh fuck yes, Odin Sphere and Worms 2 for the DS for $30 :applause:.

These two games will be my last purchases for awhile (besides Wii related downloads) since I am saving up for either a PS3 or new PC and I now have a job to do so.
This will be a crazy deal for me. 50% off select used, 10% edge card, and 10% Game Informer coupon. I've been wanting Bioshock for some time now so I would love to get that for 70% off if it was included in the sale.
50% off + 10% off + 10% off equals 59.5% not 70% ...

Bad news guys...(I apologize if this has already been mentioned; I just don't want to go through 28 pages). I work at a GameStop, and my manager's telling me that we have to gut EVERY single game that's part of the Game Days sale. Yep, that includes excess copies of games. Now I'm not sure if this will apply for all GameStop's, but it's what our district manager told us to do. I personally think it's a dick move to the customers. My only guess as to why they're doing this is because they put out a lot of "live products" (games that are still sealed) on the floor last year, and this led to several theft issues. However, I still don't agree with the decision. Why not just keep the extra games in the back counter? -_-;

Needless to say, I set aside a few games that I plan on buying from the sale...I want my games sealed. Perhaps you guys can work something out with your local GameStop, and ask them to not gut a couple of games. If you guys don't know what a gut is, it's a simple (and very stupid) GameStop practice where we open sealed games, keep all the contents in the back counter, and put the cases out on the sales floor.

Some people reported this taking place during last year's sale, so it certainly isn't unprecedented. Like you said, it is possible that this will be YMMV.

I know the ones in Madison, WI, are NOT gutting the games. They will be new and sealed. That really sucks for you guys though.

If someone wants me to pick up a sealed copy of a game, I wmight be willing to pick one up for you on June 2nd and trade it for something of equal value, like a PS2 RPG, or a good Xbox 360/Wii game. I will ship first as long as you have a decent trader rating. Just send a PM.

Question hopefully a GS employee can answer. On the OP it says the 2 Digimon DS games are 19.99 each, but on the online ad that came out today it has one of them for 14.99. Would it be safe to assume the other is 14.99? My little brother was looking for this one last month used but none of the stores around here had it and if he could get it new for cheaper that would be awesome.

Can someone tell me which harvest moon for the PSP is on sale, is it innocent life or boy & girl. I already have innocent life, and its regular price is 14.99 new at gamestop but I am interested in getting boy and girl. I am going shopping this weekend and there is a used copy of boy and girl where I am going via the store locator so I am wondering if I should pick that up provided its complete or wait for the possible 14.99 drop on it. I guess I could return that one and buy the new one for less if I had to.

For some odd reason I had a dream last night that I found Tekkon Kinkreet UMD for $5 but its not on the list :(

Only thing I'll probably buy is Timeshift.
I take it the gutting thing is only important to collectors and flippers?
To keep it short and simple, when people buy new they expect it shrinkwrapped and never touched by anyone. So when a copy is gutted several things can occur such as fingerprints, scratches while being placed in the sleeve, manual being bent, the game case will be handled by customers.

In the end, you could buy a new game in worse condition than a mint used one. So charging the same price will anger people.
I take it the gutting thing is only important to collectors and flippers?
... also people who buy as gift for someone, people who re-sell on ebay, etc.

well...wouldn't flippers are those who resell on ebay? But yeah, I'd say the main issue most end user/buyer would have with a gutted game, especially olders ones, is that it's been touched and retouched and sometimes, a well cared "used" one would be a ton better than buying the new.

Think about this question. Would you trust a list filled with spelling errors or the official ad from the retailer themselves? :applause:

Yes, I assume both versions are $14.99.
I take it the gutting thing is only important to collectors and flippers?
It's a nightmare for an OCD person like myself. I'm incredibly anal (probably beyond anal) about the handling of my games. Heck, I don't even like it when my own friends start fiddling with my belongings.

So, hmmm....WC3: Frozen Throne's on sale?
Heck, does GameStop even carry the original WC3: Reign of Chaos?

(I have neither).

From my experince, every "gutted game" I have purchased has never been perfect. This is always the case with gamecrazy...

The only opened game that I ever bought from GS that was not perfect or at least close to itt was a copy of Persona 3. The cardboard box was obviously beat to hell, and the idiot employees had used blank stickers to hold together the contents, so there was residue all over the game case and artbook.

I think I am going to pick up The Godfather Game for the Wii and Soul Caliber III for the PS2 and be good with that.
... also people who buy as gift for someone, people who re-sell on ebay, etc.
Not to defend the gutting of games (I don't like it either), but I almost always open and test whatever I buy for gifts to make sure it works before giving it to the person. I tell them this, too.

I've never played a hitman game before, and that $20.00 price point for all three sells it for me. Gonna be picking that up come Monday.
Not to defend the gutting of games (I don't like it either), but I almost always open and test whatever I buy for gifts to make sure it works before giving it to the person. I tell them this, too.
That's high. Are you talking about new games or used?

Thats the equivalent of buying a bottle of wine for a friend, opening it for a drink, and putting the cork back in it and giving it to them -- sure u might get a nice buzz yourself, but it diminishes the gift.

But then of course, it is mighty nice of you to give so many gifts.

In for Odin Sphere, and maybe Sega Genesis Collection, Hitman, and Katamari.
Thanks OP. ^_^
Also, is GS getting shipments of these in or will it just be whatever's sitting on the shelf?

Monster Hunter 2 and Katamari on June 2nd. Though I'm still waiting for the magazine with the coupon to come in the mail. Its end of May also.

nobody does that...

I would hate to be your friend :O

Gto to peak at the stock today and Soul Calibur III is GH

My particular store has a ton of just about everything except only 5 Katamari's and 4 Brave Story games...

All games will be gutted except UMD movies, you absolutely can go in early and ask that a game not be gutted and saved for you till the end of MON night only.

I am still not sure if there is any reason to check this out or not.... I hate and love gamestop at the same time....ugh...I can't stay out of the store, but I would never buy a new game from them.

I'll be on the lookout for:

Worms Open Warfare 2 - 9.99 (DS)
Katamari Damacy - 9.99 (PS2)

some good deals right there.

EDIT: maybe Sega Genesis and Sonic Mega Collection at 9.99 too.
Not to defend the gutting of games (I don't like it either), but I almost always open and test whatever I buy for gifts to make sure it works before giving it to the person. I tell them this, too.
Thats like those ebay listings that say new, but the seller claims they opened it to make sure it worked first. You know damn well you and the ebay sellers played the hell out of the game first.

Back on topic: Do we still not know details of the accessories in this deal? I need a PSP case or starter pack because I'm going on a 4 hour plane trip next weekend.
Has anyone confirmed these lists yet?
Some of them were confirmed in the newest ad.
I know for a fact this list is accurate, my local gamestop is open about this type of stuff... I saw the list, all of them are there.

Accessories are mostly 3rd-party battery+chargers and controllers.

I've never experienced one of these Game Days Sales.. all those prices that are 50% off, are those for NEW titles, or strictly for USED?

Just curious because I've been eyin' Brave Story, but iffy about the $40 dollar price tag it has.. but I'll definitely snag it up at only $20. Although I've only seen it at 1 GameStop amongst the 5 that are around me, lol.. anyway, thanks for any info. Like I said, this is the first I've really known about this sale and Brave Story caught my eye.

I think its for whichevers available. During game days sales I've experienced before its just a bin in the middle with things strewn around.
All games will be gutted except UMD movies, you absolutely can go in early and ask that a game not be gutted and saved for you till the end of MON night only.
The manager at my local GS indicated that they will not be gutting the games at their store in order to avoid manual theft and because it's "a plain waste of time."
I've never experienced one of these Game Days Sales.. all those prices that are 50% off, are those for NEW titles, or strictly for USED?
The sale items are all new (sealed or gutted, depending on the store). None of these sale items are used items.
The manager at my local GS indicated that they will not be gutting the games at their store in order to avoid manual theft and because it's "a plain waste of time."
Thats a per store thing. Most stores will gut all product for the sale except UMD as was instructed by the DMs. And why any store that guts games would leave manuals in the case is beyond me. The only thing I'm hoping for is that we don't have to put those big 10%, 15%, 20%, etc, stickers on the front of the cases. Last time they did that, the stickers just wouldn't come off clean and most cases had to be replaced.

I usually pick up games on release date, so my games are almost never gutted. One time I bought Phantom Brave and it was gutted, so I asked for $10 off. I got it.

How does that work anyway? What if you buy a game "new" from them that was gutted, and return it? Don't you only get cash back if its still wrapped?

The store would and should put a sticker seal on the side of the case. If the seal is still in place, then they can accept the return.
