UPDATE: May 26

Yeah...still no list, BUT

CAGs have been mentioning lists received by stores and new price markings taking place. Its all a matter of us drilling employees for info or attaining the list.
-----------------------------------------------

Just noticed the Game days sale ad in the latest game informer. Last year's sale was pretty decent so its worth a thread. I'll try to post the ad and coupon later. Best part is the coupon doesn't say anything about being void if copied. No specifics yet on the sale.

"Hundreds of games and accessories up to 50% off"

Things to note:
- Should stack with edge (assuming there are used deals).
- Offer ends 6/30/08
- If you know the specifics, let us know!

Canada's Sale ( not known to be the same as the one here in the states)

website shows Digimon dawn/dusk at 14.99 even though the list say 19.99

wonder what puppy luv is

was thinking about buying BRAVE STORY But since its short (20 hours) and beat it a year ago (no new game + ) no reason to spend 20 on it .....

noting at all i m buying : (
They were talking about the weekly ad on the site which lists it at $15 for dusk during the sale.
I was replying to the above poster when claiming that the website has the games listed as 14.99.

Oh, I see. I'd assume that they're going for $15 if it's going to be up to 50% off and the retail price is 29.99. But maybe they'll be lame and only take off 1/3.

I dunno, I'll check out the sale only cause I got a 25% trade in bonus coupon in an email and I have a few games I want to trade in, maybe I can score a good game or two.
so a used sega genesis collection ps2 will be 5 bucks tomorrow?
No, the used prices aren't updated. Just the new ones. So some of these games will be cheaper new than used until the sale ends.
No, the used prices aren't updated. Just the new ones. So some of these games will be cheaper new than used until the sale ends.
Oh. Nothing for me then.
Where is the flyer? Gamestop sucks at marketing this sale.
Honestly, there isn't a ton to advertise - with the exception of Odin Sphere, most of the titles were met with a collective "meh" here. Right now, Worms is the only thing I'm planning on buying, and there are plenty of posters who have said they won't get anything or are only getting one or two games.

Besides that, we aren't actually supposed to have this list yet. Maybe there will be a flyer once the sale actually begins?

Can anyone vouch for Harvest Moon Boy & Girl for the PSP. I loved Back to nature on the PS1. Is this a good version or am I better off just ripping my PS1 disc and putting it on my PSP?

so , what about that trade-in they had in canada last week for the game days sale... where you trade in six games ($8.00 or more trade-in value) and for $20.00 you get a psp ?? is it no-go in the US?? just wondering...

Does this start on the 2nd and run till the end of the month? If a store runs out of stock will they be receiving more?

To further clear things up...

--None of those trade-in specials listed in the Canadian ad will be going on in the US. The only decent trade-in special is the e-mail newsletter coupon for this week: 25% extra trade-in credit on 2 360/PS3/Wii games; if you haven't done so already, sign up for the newsletter, since they have a tendency to throw in 20% used 360 or PS3 games coupons and the like every so often.
--3rd party Play-and-Charge kits will be on sale for $10.

I hate that we're gutting most everything for the sale, trust me. GameStop's doing it this way because so many jerks stole a LOT of stuff from us during this sale last year, so thank the douchebags that stole stuff last year for making us gut stuff this year.

EDIT: The sale starts on the 2nd and does run 'til pretty much the end of the month. MOST products will not be replenished, mainly the crap ones that'll still somehow sell.

Doesn't gamestop have cameras? I might be thinking of blockbuster.
Doesn't gamestop have cameras? I might be thinking of blockbuster.
In my experience some do and some dont.

Also could I bring in my copy of game informer to show them my subscription number since my brother still has my edge card?

And with the 10% coupon on the 1st page that's YMMV if a GS will expect it or not correct?

Hopefully people will start reporting in on their purchases in a bit as Gamestop stores should be opening within the hour [well atleast where I live]... Kinda curious to see if they will be accepting the coupon from the OP as a printout...
Also could I bring in my copy of game informer to show them my subscription number since my brother still has my edge card?
Although this used to be correct, GameInformer recently changed their numbering system on the mailing labels, so this only gives you a few of them numbers now. For whatever reason, once you lose your EDGE card, it's nearly impossible to replace. You might just want to get a new one and never take it out of your wallet. Also, write the number down in several locations, especially since the EDGE works online now.

No sure if you guys all know this but all Gamestop/EBgames have a plastic wrap system in which they will shrinkwrap your new game for you if you ask them. I was recently getting a gift and they shrink wrapped it and everything!

When you buy a used car, be sure to have them reset the odometer for you too!:bouncy:

Just bought the one copy of Odin Sphere that one of my local stores had, sealed because I'd asked yesterday, with the coupon.

I'm from the East Coast.

No reports from the East Coast, South or Midwest yet? Will check from here in Cali. when the store opens in the next few hours....

just got back from one of my gamestops...Sega Superstar Tennis for Xbox 360 is $19.99 NOT $14.99 like listed on the first page of this thread. Just and fyi if anyone else wnated it.

$19.99 isnt too special for a 1 days sale since ladst month it was $19.99 for a whole week. Oh well tho..i was just gonna buy a shit load to flip for $28.50 (got a quote on the way to gamestop)
Also, write the number down in several locations, especially since the EDGE works online now.
Dude. I did not know that.

Using CAG16 plus Edge card plus SAVER plus DIAMOND = 26% off minus 10 bucks (off $75) plus free shipping. NICE!

*InFlames215 clears out Gamestop's entire online inventory of used PS2 RPG's*

Except Odin Sphere, which I will buy B&M today: )
When you buy a new car, be sure to have them reset the odometer for you too!:bouncy:
Seriously, all this hate toward GameStop for their gutted games is a little unwarranted. It's not GameStop's fault that we live in a society that forces us to protect things that might get stolen. Sure, if there's extra, I love getting the sealed copies of games from there, but I realize that they have to gut games to put display copies on the shelf. New games have not been played, even if they've been opened, and they play just the same as sealed copies.

oh and the Sega Superstar Tennis games and cases were behind the counter...the dude working had to grab them and they were shrink wrapped already so maybe just some games/stores are gutted

DIAMOND:
Not valid on bundles or bonus/premium items. May not be combined with other offers. For Xbox Live Diamond Club members only.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's an XBox Live Diamond Club member?

It looks like you can stack for a total of 36% off of a used purchase of over $75.

Heads up some of the games they have are open and they are selling them new. I picked up Odin Sphere and they guy told me that they only received 4 copies so he was told to have them out on display. So just giving everyone a heads up.

I was fortunate enough that the GS by me opens up at 8am so I was the first one there since its on my way to work and scored on some sweet games. I might head back today during lunch again.

Explain how my brother used to bring home new releases weekly that we wiould "play" and would be sold to the consumer within a week. Its common practice to rent out gutted games. If they are concerned about theft, then they should come up with a system like toys r us. They certainly have the money to do something aside from their current course of action. Or you know, put some ****ing metal detectors up. No reason to screw the gamer imo.

It seems like almost all the games will be gutted, as corporate instructed all Gamestops to do so for theft reasons. The exception to this is if the local owner just said "screw it, it's a waste of time" or you ask them ahead of time. Or maybe there are some games they've forgotten about. :p

You don't need to be an Xbox Live Diamond member, it works nonetheless. I'm not sure what it is either.

And it is 10 dollars off 75, not 10%.

So, like I said, 26% off minus 10 bucks with DIAMOND.

Oh whoops. I need to learn to read. That's really pretty amazing.

Hey if I plan to play the game who cares if it's opened then as long as its not scratched and complete. It really is an issue only when buying something as a gift, and the only thing that really matters to me the most buying new or used for that matter is complete and non GH/PH/PC etc....

Erm, I tried DIAMOND and got this error:

The coupon entered will not provide a discount based on the current contents of your shopping cart. You may continue checkout without a discount or read the coupon description below and make the appropriate changes to your shopping cart or shipping method selected. Coupon description :

I only had Soul Calibur 3, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and Bioshock added. I don't think any of those are counted as premium items. CAG16 and SAVER went through, as always.

Ew, not at my store. I suppose it has happened some times, but hardly "common practice."

First of all, Toys R Us has way more space than GameStops, which are stuck in malls and outlet locations. Second, every Toys R Us I've ever been to has much less selection than GameStop.

"Metal detectors" wouldn't solve the problem either. Besides being expensive, they don't prevent people from walking out with merchandise, it just makes a loud noise. At bigger stores like Best Buy and Circuit City, they can afford to hire a security person to watch people leaving the store, but this would be impractical for every small GS store. Also, where would you put the security device for each item? In the case? I'd rather have an unsealed case than one with a permanent security chip on it. I'd also rather not wait for them to disable the devices during every transaction and deal with the occasional misfires.

Gutting games is slightly annoying, but it's not enough to warrant a boycott or anything. It's just theft prevention and allows game cases to be on display to show what games are in stock.

You may play ALL the games you buy but there are some out there who buy to collect... As for NEW gutted games not being played that is USUALLY the case but not always true...

Gamestop does get SOME display boxes/cases but these are usually for popular games... As for renting out gutted games it is something that is done behind the scenes for legal reasons as corporate turns a blind eye towards it because they know they shouldn't be doing it but they also need their employees to be well informed and kept happy. As for "metal detectors" i think you are thinking about the magnet/coiled security tags... These are kind of effective if they are placed within a gaming package [which some gaming publishers/stampers are starting to do] but can easily be defeated by the use of special bags/stickers. If they are on the outside of the package people can just peel them off...
