Girl meets world: Renewed for Season 2!

It almost writes itself.

The show is about the 13 year old daughter and her life, but also revolves around Cory (who is now a teacher following Feenys footsteps) and Topanga (being hot and doing what she does). Throw in Crazy Uncle Eric, Hot 24-year old Aunt Morgan (who can be a party animal that Corys daughter looks up to), Uncle Sean Hunter (still writing poetry and banging girls), Grandma and Grandpa Matthews and Feeny as a retired-but-still-mentoring-Cory character.

This thread is a lie, I can't believe what I'm reading! O_O I way more excited about this than I should be...

On a side note, I can't stop yelling topanga in my head (someone save me)....
Dude, don't worry about it...they can always change it.
I'm not really worrying. After all, it's only a 2 year difference. Just an observation I made.

Incredibly easy to write a whole series and as their daughter gets older, the series will naturally progress.

Seriously though, how did I miss this thread until now. I can't believe they are bringing the series back (in a way). I remember watching this all the time years ago and now it makes a return...in the modern age!? I wonder if this one will be as wholesome and family friendly with little lessons built in like the original?

I'm a fan of the show but why couldn't they put it on ABC official? I worry, being on the Disney Channel, they will unnecessarily cut parts of its budget in that respect.
Also, even if its a success I can see it being canceled earlier given that very few Disney Channel shows have officially ended or gotten past a 2 or maybe it's 3 season.
wait... isn't topanga pregnant with a boy at the end of the series?
That was just her getting fat as all hell.

A few quotes:

I'm very excited for Disney and Michael Jacobs," William Russ, who played Cory's dad Alan Matthews on Boy Meets World, told Huffington Post. "They are a great team and will produce an exceptional show, I have no doubt.

I'd love to talk [to Disney] about being a part of it," Lily Nicksay, who once played Cory's little sister Morgan, told TMZ.

When asked if he'd [Anthony Tyler Quinn] reprise his role on Girl Meets World, the actor replied, "Of course! Boy Meets World was and continues to be these beautiful brushstrokes in my life. It was a wonderful experience, and I think Michael's going to create something fresh. I'd love to be a part of it... Obviously, I think my character would have grown in the education field, maybe become an administrator.

This actually seems like it might work...just gotta wait for the pilot.

This is definitely going to be interesting. It sounds like more and more of past cast members are interested. Hell, why not; I'm sure they're not doing anything. Also, last time I saw Rider Strong was either in a cannibal movie where he was held up in a warehouse with a crossbow (can't remember the name) or the beginning of Cabin Fever 2. So, let's hope he makes a comeback!

EDIT: The cannibal movie he was involved in was called "Tooth and Nail."

Still blows my mind that Mr. Feeny was KITTS voice actor in Knight Rider!!

And that Coreys older brother would go on to voice Batman in Batman Beyond!!

Anyways, would watch for Topanga's Canyons.

I can't believe after all these years we still have the hots for Topanga :p

Yeah. I was like wait a minute...what's KITT doing in this show?

I'm... Not sure that word quite applies the way you think it does.

Aww shit. He was the best. What the hell happened to his character? He got in a motorcycle accident (though didn't die as far as I understood) then just disappeared?

I agree with the fact that they should wait 5 more years. The show went off the air in 2000, it's been 13 years and the actors have aged VERY well, so having a 14 year old doesn't really make a lot of sense. They would have had to have the child right away as soon as the show ended.

Mr. Feeney was on Grey's Anatomy this season, he's still around and acting! He can be the godfather to the main character.

IT'S ALL HAPPENING!!!

Boy Meets World fans, meet the best news you’ll hear all day. TVLine has learned exclusively that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have officially signed on to reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence in the red-hot Disney Channel pilot Girl Meets World.

The potential sequel series (which TVLine first told you about earlier this month) picks up more than a decade after Boy Meets World ended its ABC run and finds Cory and Topanga happily married and raising their 13-year-old daughter, Riley (from whose point of view the story is told). The pilot is still in the very early stages of development with Boy Meets World creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs at the helm.

and a note from Danielle

First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome. That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring. You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that Girl Meets World WILL BE MADE. J

I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for GMW, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear. I am going to do my best to not speak for others with this open post. But because I have known Michael Jacobs, Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, and Bill Daniels for 19 years, I know we share many of the same feelings regarding the 7 wonderful years we spent making BMW. Those years were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Another thing I wouldn’t trade for anything is the integrity and the heart with which BMW was made. I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make GMW with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from BMW.

I say this because making the decision to do the show involved more conversations than you can possible imagine. These conversations were with the same people I mentioned above because they were all instrumental in creating and maintaining the heart of BMW. The first comment out of every person’s mouth was, “Let’s only do it if we think we can create something as special as we did with BMW.” When the news leaked that GMW was in the making, literally days after I first heard about the project myself, Michael Jacobs and I had a conversation and we talked about how we were both so blown away by the reactions from all of you. We felt honored. We felt nostalgic. We felt touched by the excitement in your comments, tweets, Tumblr, and Facebook posts. But most of all, we felt inspired. We felt inspired to bring these characters back to life and to tell you more of their stories. Michael said to me, “Danielle, when I read what people say BMW meant to them it makes me so very proud of all of us. I think it is important for us, for as long as we are fortunate enough to have this opportunity to do GMW, that we all look each other in the eyes every so often and make sure we know we have something of value to offer the audience.” I think we have that with GMW.

I say that so that I can say this: GMW is a new show. It isn’t BMW brought back to life but in current day. It will have familiar faces, familiar themes, and familiar messages. It will also have new faces, new themes, and new messages. BMW never spoke down to the audience and we are going to do our best to never do that with GMW. But please keep in mind that this there will be episode 1, of season 1, of a brand new show. We started at the same place with BMW but we evolved and we evolved quickly. For those of you who knew and loved BMW, please allow this show to evolve as well. Stick with us. Give us a chance.

In the meantime, a sincere thank you to every one of you for all of your tweets (I read them all, every day. It killed me not to be able to talk about it!), even those of you who asked us not to do it. There were only a few of you but I know why you don’t want GMW to happen and I appreciate that BMW meant enough to you that you don’t want to see its legacy tarnished. I can assure you, we don’t want that either. Your love, dedication, and appreciation means more to us than you could ever know and it will be the driving force behind our passion to make the best show we can possibly make. Thank you for giving us the chance to do it again.

Love,

Danielle

Excellent news. Now it's time to find the right kids to play Riley and her BFF. I actually hope the old cast makes guest appearances instead of being regulars. I think that will help draw out interest initially for old fans, while giving the show room to develop into it's own "thing".
I saw those today and thought about posting them here, but then laziness got the best of me.

Also,
Laziness usually gets the best of me when Im done jerkin it too;)

I bet Ben Savage is more happy about this show than anyone, haha.
Hahaha you're probably right. I know his brother does a lot of directing, but when was the last time you've heard/seen Ben Savage doing anything?
He looks near death in that picture. Also, the girl that played Rachel really messed up her face with plastic surgery.
Keep in mind Daniels is 85/86...so he's still kickin' it pretty good if you ask me. Even if it's guest spots, I think having him in some form throughout the show is a good idea for previous fans.
He looks near death in that picture. Also, the girl that played Rachel really messed up her face with plastic surgery.
He's looking like Skeletor to me lol.

And really? What a coincidence, I'm pretty sure the actress who played Angela had a lot of work done too and now looks really light-skinned and kinda asian lol.

Boyoyoyoyoyooooooing!

You could bounce a quarter off my boner thanks to that Topanga photoshoot.

I dont know I always thought the chick that played Rachel was hot. Checking out her Facebook page photos I still find her not bad. I like the fact that she had a little work done on area other than her face. I have always had a spot in my heart for the redheads.

This looks like Full House but with Boy Meets World. Kinda weird they're doing this, maybe the original cast begged for work and Disney obliged. This seems like something that would have been more relevant in a few more years since the kids that grew up watching this aren't parents of 11+ year olds yet.

Yeah...I thought that comment was odd. If you liked the original show, I'm not sure what there's not to like about this...other than it being "more girly" I guess? But to me, it looked like basically more of the same...which was the entire point to begin with.

I give them credit. It's a hell of a gamble bringing back actors to play their characters "all grown up". The possibilities that are going to be open to them using archived footage for flashbacks, like-father-like-daughter stories, etc. could make for some really unique writing. Even as a "kid's show", just the premise alone has more balls than a lot of crap on TV.
