Gran Turismo 5 - 1000+ Cars! - 1/6: GT5 XL Edition w/DLC & Spec 2.0 - 1/17 - $39.99
I rec'd the same email from Amazon advising 12/31.

GS has it listed for 1/1/2011.
Again, placeholder dates. Sony will announce another date whenever they manage to pull everything together...

Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA) today confirmed that Gran Turismo(R) 5 will go on sale throughout North America on Wednesday, November 24.

So the rumor was almost true of BF being the release day. I knew they wanted it to be on shelves by then as an impulse buy.

Anyone want to talk about where they will mount their PS Eye for head tracking?

I wonder if the effectiveness changes with distance from one's head. I will be around 10ish feet from the TV when playing. I have a G27 with a Wheel Stand Pro and I'm wondering about mounting it somewhere on the stand. Say... Between the wheel and the gear shift. In the one video I've seen online, it appears the camera is placed below the wheel which is why I thought this may be possible. Also; has anyone ever used a USB splitter on the ps3? I run a 15ft usb cable from my ps3 to the wheel and stand. I wonder, could I split the usb at this point? Just question. If anyone has answers, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Freaking FINALLY. No more delays....no more delays...no more delays.
^this.....but remember what EA did with NBA elite. it was printed and at some store in the backroom and they ordered all discs destroyed, now the game is cancelled. Would any of us be shocked if they announced another year delay?

I preordered Collector's edition from gamestop.com. Since no instore pickup, I was wondering how many days before I get it delivered? Anyone know do they use USPS, UPS, FEDEX and is signature required? I was worried because I won't be home that weekend and I don't want it sitting on my doorstep.

TRU and kmart had their ads with game credits, now we will get no credit because the ads probably have been printed. Oh well, I waited so long so might as well wait a little more for a drop.

Do you advise if I want to get Gran Turismo 5 on launch day I preorder the game? Usually I don't preorder games but this might be a special case.

You more than likely won't have to, the bigger AAA games are usually well stocked. I normally do it just in case.

uh...
Hello,
uh...
Funny since I just got an e-mail like 5 mins ago which gave me a new delivery date of Nov. 30 (didn't have release date delivery, just two day prime shipping).
http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/news/articles/detail/item319939/Gran-Turismo-5-the-cars/

The full list of cars that are in GT5 that also notes which are premium or standard, though I don't think there's a concrete list of what the hell that means.
Only one problem I had with the list. One. THE BUGATTI VEYRON IS A STANDARD CAR. :bomb: This means it will not be as detailed (looks better than Forzas models from the outside atleast) and won't have a cockpit view.

Edit: Make that two, Pagani Zonda is also Standard.
Also, standard cars will only receive scratches and mechanical damage while premium cars will receive full damage.
Ugh... Disappointed, but I am still getting the game. Just not at launch (considering how I blew a 100 bucks on Rock Band 3 and need to purchase Christmas Gifts) Hopefully Gran Turismo 6 (which is being worked on right now) will feature Premium cars only. Polyphony said it will only take about 2-3 years to develop the game since they will probably recycle most content from Gran Turismo 5. Kinda like what they did with Gran Turismo 4 where they recycled a lot of the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 3.

I thought gt3 was the worst game i ever bought for the ps2 and because of that i didn't even buy or play gt4. Gt1 and Gt psp were both really good though and i am hoping gt5 becomes one of my favorite ps3 games. I'll be playing some data east arcade classics and hardcore online team games in rdr online while i wait.

Anyone have (or going to get) a steering wheel controller for this? I really like the Logitech G27 but can't bring myself to pay $250 for it. Especially since I am already getting the $99 CE and would also get the Regulator Xlerator Wheel Stand for the Steering Wheel. At a total cost of $450... Yea not gonna happen.

I'm only using a controller right now. Money is very tight for me and if I haven't already have this game paid off, I wouldn't be getting GT5 now.

Same here, I just invested 5 bucks into pro triggers and they work pretty well for driving games. It does not compare to a wheel, but its nice using the triggers for accelerating and braking without having to worry about my fingers slipping off

I hate to be this guy- but here I go. Haven't played GT since the first one came out. My experience with racing games is mostly within the realm of arcade style games (Burnout Paradise, Split/Second, Blur, & Double Dash).

I'm curious about GT5- but haven't really played any realistic racing sims. Would I be wasting my time?

edit- let me rephrase my question. I have no interest in real cars. Will I enjoy this game?

I don't think you will. Sim racers are kind of boring if you're not into cars, and tuning and all that stuff. I'm the same way as you. I've bought a GT game for every playstation so far (Gt, GT3, and GT5P) but they were mostly for eye candy

I have very little interest in cars. While I do have a preference in cars, I could mostly care less as long as I get from point A to point B (although if I had the money, I wouldn't mind doing it in style :bouncy:).

That being said, most of my favorite racing games have always been arcade style racers (Hydro Thunder, Rush, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Burnout, Daytona, ect. ).

But for some reason, I have always loved the GT series. I find it to be a really enjoyable sim. Sure, it can be porn for the car lover in your life, but as a game lover, I can safely say that I enjoy this series immensely.

This is probably more based on my love of sim games (earning money, buying better cars, earning more and more trophies/medals/whatever) than my love of cars.

Preordered my game at gamestop because I had credit. Anyway can't wait for this game. As a Nascar fan I am curious to see how the sprint cup cars handle compared to the EA games. Either way I guess I am going to have to learn how to tune cars properly, I have no clue with everything but I am excited to learn.

After playing the demo at a SonyStyle last weekend, the game could very well appeal to non-sim fans. Without setting up the car or changing anything, the game was fun. What impressed me most was how well the cars handle. Steering input via the controller is very accurate, nothing sluggish, and it was just fun to whip the cars around corners, smash into walls, see damage, etc.

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Logitech Driving Force GT and the Xlerator Wheel Stand. The DFGT should be here soon. Not so sure about the wheel stand though.

Well, Kmart isn't getting the collectors edition, so it's a good thing I kept my pre-order at Gamestop. Definitely waiting on pins and needles now.
"and I said, give me 1,000 cars!"

Love it!
"And when they asked for the test cars back..."

I said "Ahahahaha".

Love it.

So what's the story on the rumored PSP connectivity? I think I've heard about streaming of GT5 TV (whatever that is) but that sounds like premium content. What about in game PSP use? Anything?

While we're at it, is that head-tracking use of the Eye camera official? Thanks! Finally going to have a use for my wheel that i got two x-mases ago . . .
Oh Kevin Butler. You have made me forget about whatever Sony did to advertise the PS3 before you...

Something about a room?
Nice... Probably gonna get mine around Christmas time with Gran Turismo 5. Need to stop spending money on games and buy gifts. I can wait a month after release. ;)

Just importing cars from GT PSP:
Players who own Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue can transfer cars unlocked in that game directly to their garage in Gran Turismo 5 for use in Arcade Mode through special cross-talk interoperability.

Head tracking:
PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view.
