FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and cut the trade-in value in half. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases made with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases:Arkansas, California, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases:Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Wisconsin, Virginia,

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has PSP/DS values.

It's honestly not a great deal overall. They lowered the overall trade values in order to offer this 50% bonus to trade-in values. They cut some games off to the point that it's still a good deal but it's no longer a great deal.

In the first days of the deal, you could trade in Left 4 Dead 2 for $48 and Mass Effect 2 for $58.

I got rid of that bug/glitch ridden MW2 for 42 bucks last week. I wouldn't say that was too bad, considering I only had offers for $35 shipped.

So? Do you honestly expect them to continue taking losses on those games?

With literally thousands of copies of games flooding into stores, do you really think that the TIVs would've stayed the same this whole time? If you wanted to take full advantage of this deal, you would've jumped on it right outta the gate while it was still fresh.

If you don;'t think it a great deal then fine, but for the other 500 CAG here it a great deal, we use it if it helps up. Most of us are adults and can decide if it better for us to trade into GS or not when they give us the price.

Updated lists and database.

Also, I would like to take the time to thank all of you guys. You guys have really given me something to do around CAG. I don't do this for the appreciation or even acknowledgement, just trying to help out. Thanks to everyone who contributes, I somehow won the CAG Community Award this year. Mind boggling. There are times this thread feels like a job, but you guys always make it fun and enjoyable. Just wanted to let everyone in here now I appreciate their time and contributions, because without you guys I would literally have nothing to do.

I actually haven't done movie quotes for a couple days now. Just got out of the groove. I'll try to get back into it though.

Excellent Username.

Also I agree with everyone else. Thank you JP. You definitely deserved that award.
most of yall getting jacked on a lot of these trade in values unless you got games for cheap or for free.
Awesome - are you offering to buy all of our games at higher values??? I still have MW2, Dead or Alive XBV2, Call of Duty 2 and Blue Dragon... I only want $100 - that's a great deal!!! Paypal me the money and I'll send you your games!!!

Idiot.

I traded in 4 wired headsets the other day, EndWar and Saint's Row 2 for $41... Once I trade the other EndWar, I'll be close to a free game for stuff that paid barely anything for... I think I can do my own math.

There's a glitch on the gamestop website that gets us most of these games for free. Unfortunately, we cannot share that glitch with newbs since it opens it up for abuse.

Q for anyone who has done this. If I trade in my pro 360 without hdd, and I have an edge card, would I get the additional $30 bump, plus another 10%, or does edge only give you 10% extra on games only?

The glitch didn't work for me the past couple of weeks but just started working yesterday.

Great! Now we are going to get 2 pages of retards, (pronounced: reh-tards;see "The Hangover") asking "what is the glitch?"

Also, I don't really agree with calling them newbs, since that would imply they are new at being dumb.

Anyone taking advantage of the $30 system bonus for a DSi XL pre-order? I have an extra 360, which I suppose would net $120. But I feel a bit cheated by getting yet another DS. The larger screens do look great, and this 360 is just collecting dust. What a dilemma!

Any thoughts?

Wasn't my intention.
I know you guys get on Confoosious for his tendency to push buttons, but I find him thoroughly entertaining.
That's 1 person! I don't try to push buttons, I just hate shady/annoying people so I tend to answer those people.

I'm very tempted but the one 360 I have that I want to trade in has been opened and "penny tricked". I keep hearing conflicting reports on what condition Gamestop takes their systems. Should I just take the pennies out and trade it in?

I guess I will be the first retard to ask it . . . . "what is the glitch"? You can PM me if you do not want to post it on here. I promise I won't tell. I come from the hood where snitching is not allowed LOL.

Thank you JP! *Clap* *Clap* *Clap*Clap*Clap*

The TIV GS thread is the reason I signed up CAG in the first place. Lurking does'nt do justice when you have a man like him doing such a big favor for us with his own free time.

Face it guys, he's the whole fuckin show.

Too late - they posted it over at Slickdeals (reh-tard deflector array active)

The GS.com glitch was working for me this morning and then suddenly stopped working for me when I tried it on another order a few minutes ago. I'd watch it guys or they are going to figure this out soon and we'll all be SOL. If you go to the well too many times you draw it dry.

jp - i'm sorry i ruined your thread. :bouncy: I only meant it as a one off remark.

noobs - Please do not PM me.

I think i'll take my pennied 360 to GS and tell em what I did and see if they'll take it. The guys at my local GS are pretty cool. I want a DS XL. $90 towards a new one? Sold.

Yeah for real, it was good for the first post but now you guys are just junking up this thread with nonsense.

So the 25% on accessories is done right?

I'm going to trade in 2 rechargeable batteries and then buy 2 new ones, will they give me any hassle?

Here's a question... If I wanted to trade in my original 360 PRO for an elite system (20GB and I have had to send it in twice), will they transfer my hard drive saves from the old to the new? I can't really see any other scenario where I would be able to do this without having both xboxes (I guess I could use a memory card but there are no guarantees).

Thanks.

No, they won't. You could always keep your hard drive, do the transfers via mem. card and then go sell it later. If you want to do it the easy way though, find a HDD Transfer Kit. Does it all at once. :)

Ok they are gonna post this on SD soon anyway, so here is how the GS glitch for free games work both in store and online.

In Store

Grab games from behind the counter and run away really fast! If you had to use any weapons or assaulted anyone wait behind the dumpster out back for 30 seconds or so until the LCPD stop looking for you.

Online

Enter code SARCASM at checkout for 90-100% off and free overnight shipping. If you still don't get it, you probably never will.

Pretty much everything advanced said. Might want to check around CAG, there are people that have lent theirs out and what not.

Also, thanks for all the kind messages over the past couple pages guys. Always good to read.

You don't need 2 xbox's to do the transfer just the transfer kit which is free if you call MS and give them the info from your new system or new HD. Basically what you do is have the new system and new HD all hooked up like normal and the transfer kit cable hooks to the old HD on one end and a USB port on the system on the other end and the CD included with the kit transfers all your stuff from the old HD to the new HD while removing any info from the old HD in the same step. Everything that was on the old HD will be moved to the new HD including any DLC you had on there. So sell the old xbox and keep the old HD until after you have transfered the info over.

Edit: I guess they charge now. That sucks. Good thing I got one when they were free so that if I ever want to go to a 120 or larger I will have it. (I upgraded from 20 to 60 quite some time ago.)

I've gotten about $300 worth of credit from the extra 50% bonus, now I'm just hoarding it all for the next B2G1 sale. Hope I don't have to wait too long.

Actually the kit isn't free anymore. It's $15 direct from Microsoft, or you get it for free if you buy the 120GB drive new from a retailer.

Awww, I don't just take and take from this thread... I also give... you more work. $7.25 is the updated TIV for Bully 360 as of today.

I'll pay for a replacement external keyboard but not the whole damn lappy!
