The time has come to bid our preferred format farewell. An unfortunate but obvious conclusion to the HD DVD vs. Blu-Ray battle is that one of them would have to get buried in the end. I was happy to see many dual-format owners say that they preferred HD DVD, and even now the format offers some features that Blu-Ray is still catching up with.

Although the manufacturing of new players has come to a close, Toshiba will continue to support and service current players for the next several years.

The original HD DVD thread can still be found here and does have some helpful information here and there and was quite useful during the format's life. However, as it approached the 4500 post mark, it's clear that this is as good a time as any to start fresh.
well I went to 215/decatur BB and they still have a couple of racks of HD DVD's..pretty much 5 deep in about 75% of all HD DVD's that is available..so in other words they have a crap load:booty: BUT, there was no sale..just the same old 30% off MSRP:cry: They still have 1 A-3 on clearance rack for $79, and they have an A-30 display model...which if you ask to buy, they will sell it for $80, thats what I got the manager down to, but I kept telling him I had got an A-35 for $79, so I thought the A-30 should be less, but he wouldnt budge from $80, which is still a great price if anyone wants it..but I already have 2 players...so I will share the wealth with someone else:D I called my local CC and they said it was 50%off sticker price, so I didnt waste my time driving over there... I did however stop by a K-mart that I didnt even know was near my house and actually found an XBOX 360 HD DVD add-on for $37!!:applause:It was the last one..then I drove back to BB and showed them my receipt and got them to PM kmarts price, so I got my $13 back from the HD add-on I purchased a few weeks earlier:bouncy: So in case anyone still wants an XBOX 360 add-on for $37, BB said they will call kmart and PM it! And my local BB in Las Vegas still has like 20-30 of them...
you didnt pm the CC sale at BB?

I struck out at Circuit City, they didn't have anything left. It looks like I'm pretty much left with ordering HD stuff online.

Does anyone know what kind of shipping times deepdiscount.com is getting these days? I recall it being slow with the price drops first started, but I haven't heard anyone talk about it lately, and Amazon ticked me off on my last order.

My copy of The Rundown took like 5 days

Put this on the weekly ad page too - but wanted to spread the love...

Alright - rushed home from work to pick up my wife, then run to CC - the selection at the Polaris (Columbus, OH) location really wasn't too bad, I'm thinking about making a run to the Morse Rd (Columbus, OH) store on Tuesday. Today though I got:

Knocked Up - 15.00
Chron. of Riddick - 12.50
40 Yr. Old Virgin - 12.50
12 Monkeys - 12.50
Casino - 12.50
Last Samurai - 12.50
Constantine - 12.50
Goodfellas - 12.50
Unforgiven - 12.50
Inside Man - 12.50
Training Day - 12.50
--------------
150.00 after tax

More for some that were also available online - less for others. I feel pretty good about it altogether. Approx. 13.70/movie isn't really too bad...

I'll let you all know what goes on on Tuesday if I make the run...

The other movies that I saw (and could remember) were:

The Hulk
The Departed
Flags of Our Fathers
Letters From Iwo Jima
Evan Almighty
We Were Soldiers
TMNT

(I'll add as I can remember)

didnt really think about it...maybe i will try it tomorrow..the trick will be to get 50% CC website price, and not the sticker price...if its only sticker price, its not even worth it..but if I can get them to honor the website price, I will be in business:applause:

My last couple have taken a week and a half and two weeks.

Are the upcoming titles going to make it to retail stores at all? Basically is Appleseed available only online? I also talked to the Best Buy employee that told me a 70% sale was coming, and he said he has no idea when it's coming, but didn't back off on saying it was. My stashed HD DVD was still there too. I'll wait for 70% off.
My Guess is I am Legend wont be in stores on HD DVD. Not in any of the adds is a bad sign. I guess ill just have to buy it off amazon.
i saw a huge display at CC a few weeks ago with the dates for DVD/BR and HD DVD

It was already in the adds a few weeks ago when it came out on Blu-ray, as they were all supposed to come out together...which they didnt. My local BB still has all their HD DVD's on the racks and told me they were still getting the I am legend HD DVD on the 4th... We shall see..

for people still waiting on 5 free, i read this over at AVS

1) The Thing (Replaced by Pitch Black, Born on the 4th of July, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, White Noise or Monthy Python and the Meaning of Life)

2) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Replaced by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

3)The Frighteners (Replaced by Doom, Accepted, or Jarhead)

4) Darkman (Replaced by Doom, Waist Deep, Bulletproof and one other title that I missed.)

if its true, that sucks since the only three i wanted were darkman, frighteners, and the thing

that was the list from what he just ordered

lot of people are getting troy replaced with alexander revisted and pitch black with streets of fire
I really hope i get anythign to tell you the truth.
I agree with you but I didn't buy the Frighteners, Troy and Pitch Black in the hopes of getting them free. Well I only sent my stuff in at the end of Feb. so I still have a 3 month wait until I find out....

yea I got mine the other day and 3 out of the 5 werent what I ordered.

I really wonder whats going on with all the movies right now. The unsold ones are somewhere, it almost feels like they are waiting for a sale to pop out, but from what store, what sale, and when?
I bet they ET this stuff and just put it in a landfill some place.
Even better, as long as we find out where. First Annual CAG HD-DVD Dig-a-thon here we come!

I just want to know what I'll be receiving. I don't care if they don't come for another 2-5 months, as I've already been waiting an eternity...but if I could just find out what I'm definitively receiving..than I can confidently fill out my collection without further fears of duplicate and triplicate copies in my library.

Hopefully I still get "The Hulk" and "Aeon Flux". Frighteners I hope I don't get Doom or Jarhead. If so I'll exchange or get rid of them asap. Doom isn't that gret and jarhead is ok.
I really wanted Darkman as well since I'm not willing to PAY for a barebones copy, at least domestically.
With Order I'm either selling it or possibly exchanging it with someone for a new copy of Goblet since the Blu-Ray is inferior, no IME.

although only 3 were what I specifically requested, namely: The Italian Job, Full Metal Jacket and Black Rain. Received the switch-a-roo on The Frighteners and The Thing, and received Doom, and MP and the Meaning of Life. Naturally, both of the latter are the only ones where the UPC was marred; both Universal flicks. That aside, I didn't spend a cent, so I should count my blessings I suppose. I think I'll hit up the trade section, (not that anyone out there interested doesn't already have these.

I got my offer request sent back, claiming that I hadn't purchased a "qualifying product," even thought my FYE receipt clearly states "XB360 HD-DVD Player" with the name and UPC highlighted in yellow. I think the price (got it when the price dropped) must threw off the sweatshop worker who opened the envelope. I sent the request back (they gave me a different address and extended my deadline) with a "nice" letter included. I guess, I will see my movies sometime in the fall, now.

strange, i put around 20 movies in my wishlist on DD checked it now and 9 out of the 20 are out of stock. Kind of wondering where the movies are going

Right now, we're trying to capitalize on the positive buzz coming out of the ROH double shot in Orlando this past weekend and are going straight into production on those DVDs to try to get them out in time for the 5/10 show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. We also have a deadline to meet to finish the "Take No Prisoners" pay-per-view, which premieres during the month of May, so we're going to be spending this entire weekend working on those three shows to get them finished and ready for DVD/PPV.

Nice.

Went today to my local CC. They still had a decent selection for the 50% off sale. Wonder what they are going to do with the rest.

If you call the 800 number on the 5 free movie deal, they'll let you know what's more than likely headed your way. I called to check my status, and the person on the other end was very helpful. On a different note, how do you think I should go about trying to purchase a stashed HD DVD that's still in a Best Buy store?
They're all going back to the distributors in about a week/10 days.
Hopefully not for online retailers. I got several more titles I want but I'm a bit tight on cash at the moment.

1-800-405-7520 I called Saturday afternoon, and after talking with a nice woman, was told I would be getting all of my choices in anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. Can't say if they're open Sunday, tho.

Shipping should have been $5.50.

I picked up Battlestar Galactica Season 1 for $30ish. Score.

Also, I love your sig, LinkinPrime. SotY's one of my favorite bands, and I'm seeing them again in three weeks.
ezydvd dropped their HD DVD prices even lower & they have Into The Wild for those who were looking for it.:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=755&ddat=1&dsal=1&dreg=1&dper=1

Picked up The Frighteners and The Good Sheperd for a total of $11.61 USD.

Though not sure how much for shipping since it didn't state...:whistle2:k
AU$9.50 for 2 titles

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/extra/shipping.zml

So your overall price should be, $22.08 AUD which is $20.23 USD.

----------------

I bought and recieved my Into The Wild awhile ago. It seems to be the same thing as the US release only in a thicker case so it was a good deal in my book.
