Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

Richard Kerris
VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!
Anybody know how much does TigerDirect's Touchpad bundle cost?
It was going for 200/250, included TP+keyboard+Touchstone, QVC's was for ~230 including TP, Touchstone + case

Found one for about $219 (16 GB) wonder if I should bite. I know I will never find one for $100 and I really don't feel like going out of my way to find one for retail. Just can't decide if it is worth it.

At the $100 price point, it is a steal. At the $200 price point, I would compare it against a netbook of similar size. It is a really nice alarm clock when it is sitting on the Touchstone, though.
How do you download the free apps from the newsletter they sent out I can not figure out where to put the promo code
First, you have to create an account which requires you to enter a credit card before you can get the free apps. Once you do that, you click purchase and then it will give you the choice to click purchase or to use a promo code. Then you can paste the promo code in the box and get the app for free.

Thank you so much

I checked my order status on Tiger Direct again and now it says "Partial Backorder". The keyboard is apparently on backorder, but.... I have a UPS tracking number listed for the touchpad. :D
is acuprice.com a reliable site? I got the 32 gb in my card for $170ish shipped.
Hmm, I get a Godaddy splash page when I go there.

Damn I saw I got an email from TigerDirect yesterday but of course none left. What's even the point unless you can commit 24 hours a day to this lol
http://www.amazon.com/Breed-BTR-001...yboard/dp/B004IQ04YY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Anyone have any experiences with this one? Looks like a nice case/keyboard combo to turn my Touchpad into a ghetto labtop (hardly use the PC outside of webbrowsing, paying bills and watching videos, might just dump the desktop lol)
That was actually the kind of case I was going to get originally (before I ended up getting a free case from Minisuit because of my friend's order), and from my research the keyboard works very well and the case is thick enough to protect the TP from drops and everything which is a plus. I also found that some of these types of cases have waterproof bluetooth keyboards built in.

TigerDirect and Newegg have more detailed info on that specific one though (pics, specifications, etc.) if you wanted to know more about it before you order it.
Looks like my QVC order was shipped this morning.
Great. Did they send you an email, or was it just updated on the website?
Great. Did they send you an email, or was it just updated on the website?
I saw it updated on the site this morning and then they sent me an email a few minutes ago.

in-store only shows up for touchpad and touchpad accessories. smart way for best buy to decrease unnecessary website traffic/people crowding stores in the morning by stating that touchpads/accessories are ymmv.

I would think those probably are a glitch. Stores around me that have never listed them as in-stock have them back in stock. Actually every story around me has in-store only.

gotta be a glitch, right? every store here is showing in stock and a guy in chicago said the same thing on twitter.

Whoo-hoo, just got my shipping email from QVC! Thanks for the heads up about it gamer_2007! Anyone catch what case was part of the order? Is it the official HP Touchpad case or a knockoff?

I paid $200 to get one from ebay, got it on Saturday, and have been amazed by it since. I've never used a tablet before, but after only an hour of using it, I felt like an old pro. Very, very user-friendly device, the web browser is incredible, and while the app selection is limited, I've found a handful already that I'll use daily - like the Weather Bug app, and a few gaming ones as well.

same here, but I'm not getting my hopes up, HP's got pending charges that have been showing up then vanishing on my CC for the last couple weeks, Till I get the email w/ a tracking # in it I've given up hope of getting it anytime soon

Well, I've been trying not to get my hopes up. My order status changes daily to arrive that day, with a ship date two days prior. But checking the line item details on the other tracking page, it now shows Quantity Allocated as "1", instead of being back ordered.

I was also hit with another authorization from HP SMB, though I had one hit again about a week ago. It was 2 weeks between the initial one from my order 08/21 to the second one, and about a week from #2 to #3.

I'm not jumping up and down yet, though I'll wait out this week to see if it drops off or if I have another authorization hit again.

Much easier said than done. I can't drive, so finding one at retail is out of the question unless I luck out on a ride or spend however much it would be to get a cab from place to place to try and find one, and buying online when the restock happens is far from a guarantee, so I paid a premium for the peace of mind.

Like I said on Friday, my order from SMB shipped. Checked the CC today and they charged me $207, which should be two with tax. Though tax should be more at 5%, but whatever.

Should be here on Wednesday according to FEDEX tracking info. I am so damn excited. My saga is almost at an end. One is going to my mother, who I ordered one for on 8/20 (that was the day of her bday) and the other my wife and I will share. I wanted to keep both, but I already told my mother, so oh well.

I have another order with them that I made by accident for 3 touchpads (one for me, my wife and my mom) and only placed it because the first didn't seem to go through due to the sight error messages. So when that one ships in 6-8 weeks, I'll probably give them away at cost to family and friends or keep one for myself if sharing with the wife is not going well (if I get all 3). I am not greedy or a flipper. I'm actually an old school CAG. :)

Looking forward to using it as an ereader at night, when my Nook needs a light. Also: full color covers and PDFs and comics!

#NegativeNellies officially ignored. ;) #TrollStarvationBegins Thanks for the pep talk y'alls. #staycoolmybabies. Kbyeee for now :)
