Introduce me to a new band
I heard two unreleast LPs, I think they were super early (one of them they used like trash cans for drums)---Vivada Vis and what's called the 12" EP...they're both AMAZING if you can look past the quality of recording, I think a few of the songs are their best.
as i said, i cant get past the quality. however the self titled is getting remastered sometime

I can't find it now for some reason, but whoever said Unicorns, thanks, they are really really good. You should check out the band "The Decemberists", they have a similar sound.

Yeah; Tsunami Bombs are good. I also suggest NOFX. As well as Mindless Self Indulgence... I dunno how to describe them. Go to http://mindlesselfindulgence.com/mp3/ for some free downloads of their songs. I reccomend "Bitches" and "E.T.". NOTE: There is no www. before mindlessselfindulgence.com
Yeah I really love MSI. They were the last band I got really excited about. Worst lyrics ever, but best front man in a long time. Go figure.
I have no doubt that I could find them if I looked. Are you in these pictures? I used to talk to a girl who was dating him too, pretty jealous.

Fishbone (try Truth & Soul or The Reality of My Surroundings to start)
Soul Coughing
Prick (a cross between Bowie and NIN)
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
New Pornographers

you wish i was in them Xop

its all stuff from when he was on stage, i seriously saw them 5 or 6 times in that 7 months, and in that 7 months they only played maybe 10 shows!

i used to talk to jimmy on napster IM and steve on yahoo, but napster got shut down and well, yahoo sucks Xop

i had the biggest crush on kitty ever, she made me a shirt!

If you're looking for NOFX and that kinda crapola, go to the source and get some Dead Kennedys---easily the best straight up punk rock band ever. Jello Biafra = best frontman ever hands down.
Try listening to this band callled My Ruin they have some really different, hard stuff and a kick ass chick singer!
I love the first cd, but not really the later ones (her version tainted love is great). The main problem are here lyrics, they are poorly written and corny. If her lyrics improved she would be great.
ROCK STAR CLUB!
www.rockstarclub.com

greatest rock band in the world!!!

Also if you haven't heard of 'em (they've been around for a while) try the John Spencer Blues Explosion - they're wacky

Also look up Quintron he's a musicla genius from New Orleans that actualy went as far as inventing his own musical instrument
I second RSC....they rule...also, as you can see in my avatar, the Waco Brothers. They are the band that made a metal fan (me) like a lot of country, even though the Wacos are more rock than country. Not pop-country. REAL country.

well, if you've never listened to the classics like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, now would be a great time to start.

Give Beck a chance as welll.. I'm very much looking forward to the new CD in March

Deerhoof - strange at first but worth getting to know
TV on the Radio - great first album this year
The Fiery Furnaces - also released a good album this year
The Mountain Goats - singer/songwriter goodness

Also, check the Beta Band, specifically a song called "Squares".
damn yeah!
really relaxing song, and good video too. i saw the video on some "My Music Channel" thing.
It was background music in the Six Feet Under season 1 finale :D I loved it

here's three newer bands (as in new in the past few years) i enjoy that i haven't seen mentioned:

-mclusky
-death from above 1979
-the bronx

some people have mentioned some pretty good stuff, some people have mentioned pretty bad stuff, and some people, like rodeojones903, have mentioned both good stuff and bad stuff.

but, if you haven't heard of any of the three bands i mentioned, give them a chance. those are more rockin' bands, though. if you want some quieter type stuff there's some things i could suggest.
The Decemberists.

You're welcome.
Already suggested it to someone else, but if I had not heard of them, I would be thanking you profusely.

McLusky just broke up. I'm seriously bummed.
I'll recommend some noisy stuff.
Check out the Polysics, Kaito, and Brainiac
McLusky just broke up. I'm seriously bummed.
yeah, i'm ok with it though. they never put out a bad album, and i got to see them live. as a poet once said, "only the good die young".

They Might Be Giants - www.tmbg.com - They've been around for 23 years, and they're still going strong with some great stuff. Rock, pop, and many other styles. Really good band I recommend everyone check out.

Spiraling - www.spiraling.net - Mostly synth and pop, a very unique sound. Lots of fun and energy.

Neskimos - http://www.soundclick.com/bands/9/neskimosmusic.htm (mp3s available at that site). A rock band that covers (as the name implies) old Nintendo video game music. Excellent stuff....two of my personal favorites are The Legend of Zelda and Spark Man.

hmm indie.... the faint is great, also starting to listen to the killers even though they're a bit mainstream at the moment.

Well then. Any suggestion I'd have beyond that would not be as good as the Decemberists.

explosions in the sky (anything from "those who tell the truth shall live...")

the microphones (anything, really)

everything else (in no real order):

cornelius (anything really, but point is amazing.)
nerf herder
the weezer family (weezer, rentals, that dog., the special goodness, space twins)
alkaline trio
ween
cibo matto
sean lennon
pure
reggie and the full effect (don't let the get up kids thing get to you, reggie is still awesome)

the only reason i know about slowreader was i saw them open for ozma a couple years back and they blew my mind. got to talk to rory and gabe for a couple minutes after and they were cool shit.

i still listen to that album with a zeal like it's pinkerton in 1996.
Neutral Milk Hotel
*high five*
hell yeah!
i didn't think anyone would actually know of them. i would recommend "Holland, 1945" and "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea".

nice. they are indeed awesome guys (and rory is my idol - rocksolidaudio is his producing name). if you want a bunch of extra demos and b-sides from them let me know.

Alkaline Trio!!

Also, the 5 songs Matt Skiba (one of the 2 AT lead singers) did on a split CD as a solo project. Amazing stuff. The man is a lyrical genius.
against me.

start with their acoustic ep, then ease yourself in to the crime ep, and then reinventing axl rose LP or the cavalier eternal LP. if you go straight for the LPs youll hate them.
Hell yeah, they're great. :)

Thursday is also good, Brand New, HIM, Tsunami bomb is pretty good.

I absolutely can't forget Chronic Future, I love them, great EP

And if you're willing to try something a bit... strange... Jack off jill

APC and Chevelle aren't obscure, but I simply can't get enough of them, ever.

I'll stop there...

I also recommend spongeboltons Microphones pic, but especially the Glow Part 2. Side one of that album is amazing.

I have tried to get into Neutral Milk Hotel a few times and can't seem to do it. Maybe I'll try once more.

I like the Microphones, I'm really a sucker for anything on the K record label.

Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Johnny Cash - Live from San Quentin
Frank Sinatra - The Very Best of Frank Sinatra
Outlaws - Brig em Back Alive
Slayer - Seasons from the Abyss
Jerry Garcia Band - Cats Down under the Stars
Rush - 2112
Bad Company - Bad Company
Gart Brooks - Live from Cenral Park
Bob Dylan - Greatest Hit's

Not sure if anybody else mentioned them, but The Clarks are great. They are from western PA, but are expanding. Look at the "Clarks Live" and "Let It Go" CDs. They are all good, but those two are my favorite.
