Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
Has Zenonia ever been free? I want that beast.
Never, from what I can tell, the only price adjustment was a drop from $5.99 to $2.99.

There is a free version you can try though. ^ ^
Yeah, but today is the 17th and that shows that the deal was on the 1st and nothing has been updated since.
I believe that NPCD was the freebie for the month that they started with. The site isn't scheduled to show daily freebies until later today.

GTA: Chinatown Wars is out for the very fair price of $9.99. I think I am going to pay the full price for such a complete game. The game is retailing for $19 on the DS and $28 on PSP.

The graphics are supposed to fall somewhere in between the DS and PSP. I don't see the price dropping on this one for a while.

Freeappaday.com is live now with Rope'n'Fly as the free game. Seems to be a Canabalt stylel keep moving until you die game, but with rope swinging instead. There's a RnF 2 that's out for a buck as well, and seems to have added a lot.

That's strange. When I got on there yesterday, I just went straight to iTunes and got Navy Patrol for free. As posted above, Rope 'N Fly is free on there today.

played china town wars for a few minutes this morning. It's a pretty solid version, the controls for driving aren't the best, but overall a pretty solid game for 10 bucks.

I'm interested in GTA Chinatown, but the graphics look like crap compared to the PSP's GTA LC Stories...also, the only pics I saw of it is you in a car the whole time, never on foot.

Would CoD Zombies be a more worthwhile $10 purchase? Cause for $10, I could almost buy GTAIV used for my 360...just sayin

i think their is an option in the menu to make the driving controls similar to those when your walking on foot.
In for Rope N Fly... even with the crappy reviews.
It's no Hook Champ, but it's decent enough. The sequel is better (guessing from the Lite version).

it isnt suppossed to look like the other PSP GTA games..it has its own art style..i think it looks pretty good

Based on some research I wouldn't recommend GTA:CW if you played the ds or psp versions as there isn't any additional content.
Yeah - I think they're handling of Plus+ has been pretty crappy. I'm not sure if it applies to their games, but other free Plus+ game also get you ads. At this point my hope is that Plus+ goes away and Apple buys OpenFeint, makes it a requirement for all new games and game updates, and integrates it into the system. Except they need to make that Facebook posting thing default to off and not bother you unless you enable it. You can disable it, but it's still slightly annoying.
If my PAID VERSION is without ads, why they can't incorporate Plus+ into it also? Why does it have to be one or the other? (If you want Plus+, it needs to be the Ads version. If you paid and don't want Ads, you don't have Plus+) That's just weird. No wonder why NCMOCO is slipping so fast from the biggest iPhone developer to no one cares anymore.

It's supposed to be reminiscent of the GTA games before III. ;)

But yeah, I can't imagine it being very fun to play Chinatown Wars without real buttons. Actually, I don't know how anyone plays games meant to be played with buttons on the iPhone in general. I tried the demo version of Mega Man 2 and it's practically unplayable.

If it were me, I'd just wait until the DS/PSP version of Chinatown goes on sale. Looking at eBay the going price for the DS version appears to be around $15.00.

I haven't tried any of these apps, but some devs have started a charity effort where if you click through the links from this site, the proceeds go to the Haiti earthquake relief:

http://www.apprelief.com

...hopefully more devs get on board, because I have zero interest in any of those. Although, Freeverse's Skee Ball might be half-decent.

I don't think you have to go through the link. I went to Hi, how are you in the App store and the description mentioned the charity aspect.

Did iTunes change the preview pics on GTA Chinatown? Because the game actually looks interesting to me now :)

the graphics on he pics they had up before looked like rough DS graphics.

But ya, the game doesn't look too bad now...anyone that can vouch for it? Is it easy to grasp?

Most of the reviews and previews that you will read state how poorly the graphics are portrayed in the screenshots. The game looks much much better while playing it, and a lot better than DS (I can't compare to PSP, never saw it). From the articles I've read the graphics are supposed to be in between DS and PSP.

So far I am loving the game. For the people who can't get used to the touch screen controls I would say hold off, maybe wait for a lite version. But for me, I've gotten very used to the touch screen after a year plus with an Iphone. With games like Nova, CoD Zombies, doom, wolf3d the developers are getting much better with the controls. It will never be a D-pad but I don't really notice it anymore or at least it doesnt lessen my experience. The driving does take some getting used to. I immediately switched to analog after watching some videos but the default layout (for me) is much easier to use.

I really think this is a great deal. You get a very highly rated multi platform game that you can pick up anytime on your phone. I really hope we get more high quality full fledged games on the platform. I've had it with the .99 fillers.

I'm considering GTA even though I've played the DS version, in part just to support the game, with the hope they'll make a new one, plus I wouldn't mind playing through it again. Not that I've actually pulled the trigger, though....

Also, Zombie Pizza is the free app of the day.

bitFLIP has some good buzz around it. buying it for a good cause makes this a no brainer for me. I went through the tutorial and like it.

I also grabbed the earthquake app. interesting little toy for $2. might be worthwhile if you were donating anyway. Otherwise I might not pay for it.

Thanks for the heads up on Bad Apples. Downloaded it.

Also note that there is now a Lite version of Space Invaders Infinity Gene. I'd be wanting to try that game out and now we can get a Lite version for free.

Thanks! Been on the fence about that one. That game is freaking nuts.
Is The Deep a Metroidvania-type game?
Yep. It's supposed to be pretty good.

Wish I hadn't missed Hook Champ when it was a buck though...

Reign of Swords is free. Supposedly it's one of the best iPod strategy games.
Because you just can't have too many variations of Bejeweled, the game Bad Apples is available for free today.
Great find! Quite fun as well.

Seems like this may be a lite version as they ask you to upgrade for $1.99 to unlock 2 more difficulty levels?

(some of the) The music is god awful in The Deep, and unfortunately there's no way to listen to your own or just turn it off. All you can do is turn the sound off completely. Other than that it's not too bad so far, I prefer the dynamic analog to just the analog controls.

Edit: ok I played a bit more and it's not all awful, some is actually good like the sunken ship level but the tropical music makes me want to stick sharp objects in me ears. Argh!

Double clicking the Home button to bring up the music menu doesn't work?
