It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"
I've read about XV about 5 times today and never heard him/her/them?
He's been around for a bit, putting out mixtapes. I first heard of him through his Everybody's nobody mixtape from a couple years back, which I was diggin'

He's "The kid with the green backpack"

I saw Shad a couple of nights ago on his tour. One of the better performers I've seen and the dude is earnest as fuck. I got a full on high five after he had performed his first song :bouncy:

not sure I mentioned it here, but this

D-Stroy's album is prolly the best album out this year being slept on by everyone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjHU-I6TOSw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvLTC6AMKY4

it's basically a collection of all his songs from the past few years, so u get like 20 tracks of pure hiphop.

I love it!!

the reason why I stopped listening to Atmosphere tho was coz all their shyt got pulled off emusic, and I was never a big enough fan to pursue their music elsewhere...

so I'll definitely pick up Felt 3, but first I wanna get When Life Gives You Lemons.

their stuff is all back on emusic now so I have enough to get both, but I'ma wait for tuesday first to see if they add the new DJ Quik album!!

also Big KRIT is pretty cool. as much as I'm not a huge fan of whoever the internet is gushing over at the moment, KRIT aint bad at all.

free album here: http://returnof4eva.com/

I liked the Pharaohe Monch album, wouldn't consider it for AOTY though.

DJ Quik album is pretty good. The production feels more mature.

It's not unreleased music, it's his bandcamp stuff.

that stuff sucks, for reals.

his new album is better than those releases, but stylistically it's the same shyt

nothing impressive

Ohhhh I listened to stimulus package, it wasn't that good.

He just needs to finish Deltron Second Event already, this other shit is pretty weak. Why waste the time.

yup. I already picked that one up.

I have no idea what's coming out this month...

but here in LA, Cunninlynguists are gonna do a show May 20!!

then exactly one week later, Typical Cats!

two groups that I love that I'll be seeing for the first time!!!

and,

I havent listened to these Odd Future kids yet... other than that Yonkers track.

but geeeeeeeeez I really needa check some of their stuff now

Highly recommend both of MellowHype's albums, Tyler's Bastard and Earl's self titled. Guaranteed ill. The Super 3 albums as well. Domo, Mike G and compilations all have a few tracks worth listening to but are otherwise hit or miss.
new Swollen Members came out this week, and not only does it not suck, it's actually real good.
Definitely better than the last offering AKA - The shittiest mixtape we could put out for SubNoize Records.

On a side note, since I didn't see it anywhere else in the past few pages.. I'll just leave this bit of awesome here:
Yeah:bouncy: I can't even load the download page, must be because of all the people trying to do the same
Same here lol...fail

within the month I have seen both Typical Cats and CunninLynguists live.

Typical Cats is dope, but nothing spectacular. Just what you would expect out of an underground act in a small venue, which serves to remind me how much I hate underground backpack fans >_<

CL were amazing!!! Dope stage presence, they perform all their hits new and old, they definitely got a lot of chemistry and camaraderie with one another, lots of sense of humor, and bring out Tonedeff quite a few times for songs.

they performed Enemies With Benefits with the assistance of Blue Sky Black Death, that shyt was too amazing... then after the show I gave dap to Natti!! I didnt see the other two doods, and Tonedeff was talkin to girls lol.

of course this is an album I will love. Edo has a great ear for beats, and the lyrical content and delivery to do them justice. His album with Pete Rock was dope, Special Teams was dope, A&E was dope, this one follows suit.

likewise, Large Pro is an amazing producer and definitely overlooked by many. The emcee, Neek, is aiite. Again keeping it classic boom bap, the album is very throwback in that Neek the Exotic will not bring up any subjects you havent heard 1000 times already in old Mobb Deep songs, but good music is good music and I really dig this.

and I was really looking forward to FINALLY listening to Armor of God next week, then it gets pushed back to July 5. fml.

in the meantime, at least I will be enjoying Random Axe

I'm halfway through Pete Rock and Smif-N-Wessun collabo album and am enjoying this big time. PR's production lately had left me underwhelmed but he has done a great job thus far.

Weekend at Burnie's continues off from Covert Coup, another nice laid back album by Curren$y.

Blaq Poet snuck out another album, haven't listened to it yet.
