It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"

Curren$y's Muscle Car Chronicles is dissapointing.

Liked the title and cover, so I decided to check out Chase N. Cashe's The Heir Up There, which I'm enjoying.

Never listened to Nipsey Hussle before this The Marathon Continues: Extra Laps which is very good!

Ski Beatz' Twilight is excellent. Production is much in the vein of Pilot Talk 2 on steroids. Definitely the best of his 24 Hour Karate School series.

:bouncy:

been listening to Hiero stuff... Casual's Hierophant, Tajai's Machine Language, and Del's West Coast Avengers.

also Gangrene, hella good.

but my standout is this:

no idea who they are but they've been top sellers on ughh for a while, so I checked em out.

they're real good. If u like throwback ish, check em

also I forgot to mention Pac Div! The Div, another great piece of 2011!
New Kendrick Lamar single, possibly one of the most artistically mature songs he has done.
I think Kendrick's a talented artist, but I still don't quite understand all the hype. There's something about his music that I'm not quite getting...I'm not sure what it is. That behind said, I think he's something fresh and a positive addition to hip hop.

Love that Rashad & Confidence track, checking out that album for sure. Love the cover paying hommage to Lord Finesse.

As for Kendrick, I've always been more of a production fan and his sound is refreshing. As a 23 year old male, I can relate to a lot of his lyrics too. However, what I find particularily impressive is that he is very conscious of my(our) generation and responsibly mature in adressing it in his music.

Thanks for those Jekki! Been listening to them both all day!

That's my favorite part LOL.

Does anyone know if the new Deltron will ever see a release? Every year or so you hear rumors, and then they had a track leak out this spring. I've just about given up on it.

I guess the issue is Del? What's his problem?

Ima google this mess.

I dunno. Del is kind of a mess. I don't understand the Ghostface/DOOM holdup. I thought the project was dead. Then they send out a new single and say it's almost done. Then nothing lol.

For the record, I hope Deltron never comes out. I'd rather leave it a classic one-off album.

It might not be as good as the first, but I'd like to hear the attempt. Especially if Dan and KK are excited about it, and from the interviews I've seen, they thought it was as good as or better than the first.

That Apollo Brown + OC album is very good. Been listening to it a lot the past couple of days.

Deltron were announced on the 2012 Rock The Bells bill. New album released before then perhaps?
For the record, I hope Deltron never comes out. I'd rather leave it a classic one-off album.
I agree with this.

all my favorite artists are either dead, broken up, or suck now.

everytime I check out a new Del release I jus get depressed lol... and I just listened to West Coast Avengers II last week!!!

and speaking of favorite artists that are either dead, broken, or suck, I heard Bone Thugs performed at the RTB announcement!!! I missed them again!!!

(hated Uni5 more than anything btw lol)
That Apollo Brown + OC album is very good. Been listening to it a lot the past couple of days.
I agree with this too!!!

real talk, this year has been ass, I havent really liked anything, other than Planet Asia,

freakin I didnt even like De La's album!!!

but OC x Apollo Brown and Reks x Statik Selektah were jus the 2 things I needed rite now.

and this:

triple threat of good music finally.

I definitely lookin forward to checking out Killer Mike x El-P next

I've never listened to Killer Mike prior to this, maybe I just need to warm up a little. That was also based off of a single playthrough, going to be listening to it again shortly.

1982... I'm 10/15 in so far and I have mixed feelings again. Termanology seems to have improved (thankfully) and Statik doesn't seem to be up to his usual quality.

EDIT: Thankfully Statik picked up the slack near the end.

MUCH better on the second listen :bouncy:

EDIT: As is the 1982 album.

Also, El-P's solo album is almost as good as the Killer Mike collab.
If you haven't copped it already...Big KRIT's Live from the Underground is 2 bucks on amazon mp3

http://www.amazon.com/Live-From-The-Underground-Explicit/dp/B0085LFF42/ref=pd_sim_dmusic_a_9

Also can't wait to listen to Ro Ransom's (previously Nero) new tape, Ransomnia

http://www.ransomnia.com/
I got that when it first came out along with Curren$y. Curren$y's album was better
R4 and 4eva and a day was better than Live from the underground.
I did enjoy the album though.

wasnt diggin KRIT that much...

dood reminds me of Blu, somebody who everyone on the internet loves but when I listen to it's like "yah... he's aiite I guess..."

MF Doom and Masta Ace... another disappointment to me

Oddisee new album, real good!!!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cfe7PBT63Lo

new One Be Lo, also like it! I didnt like LABOR, but the 3 Laborhood mixtapes were good lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST3FXoRgvHw

Really liking that Ro Ransom album so far, especially the production.

Checked out that Rockie Fresh kid that just got signed, two latest tapes are very good, had them on repeat all of last week.

Saw Killer Mike back up Immortal Technique about a year ago on tour. He was pretty good. I gotta check him out. Anyone got any suggestions?

His new album R.A.P. Music is dope

Slaughterhouse's sophomore album isn't anywhere near as good as the debut. Lyricism is at the level you would expect, but lots of questionable production choices (seems to be the theme at Shady Records). There are standouts and there is filler.

Styles P put out a mixtape that makes him worth checking out again. Been awhile since he put out a good project.

holy crap!! new Typical Cats album is coming out!! I'm so happy rite now!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-U8QDys_So

anyways I really dig the new Slaughterhouse. yeay it's not front to back good, but when it is good it's REAL good.

relistened to SAS x Statik Selektah record these past 2 days... I like it much better than every other Statik-only record that's come out thus far.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=279XK6zws54

but best album that I cannot stop listening to?!?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7nRyHDsn7I

La Coka Nostra... so good. I got to see them live and it was awesome, but also sucks that Everlast is no more

I just did buy their album, Joell Ortiz's free agent, Nas Life is good, Maino Day after Tomorrow & DMX Undisputed.

Kendrick's good kid maad city out today. Album is an experience...legitimately gave me chills.

5 bucks on Amazon mp3 store this week, I believe.

I went out and physically bought it today.

I'd almost go as far as to say it is better than A Prince Among Thieves in respect to story telling and concept.

Thanks for letting me know about that sale. Picked it up.

Aw, I'm dissapointed to hear that. I had my eye on that one.

picked up a lot of new stuff this week!!

reminds me I never got to do a run down of all the prior stuff I got;

Guilty Simpson & Apollo Brown - Dice Game. Dont like it too much. Beats are real familiar if u listen to Apollo, and Guilty has always been one of those artists I pay attention to not becoz I am a fan but coz he has a tendency to align himself with lots of artists I care about. It's good overall, but none of it really sticks to me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lChy8EG8_gU

Journalist 103 - Reporting Live. The other half of the Left however released a real good album! It's apparent who in the duo is carrying most of the weight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVRcIb6xLOY

Sean Price - Mic Tyson. Very short, not many hooks, just straight rapping over beats for like 40 minutes. No way this can ever be as good as Monkey Barz, but I think it's better than both Jesus Price and Random Axe. I really dig this record a lot!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0MmfCzjSL4

Purpose & Confidence - The Purpose of Confidence.

picked this up coz that Rashad & Confidence album. The records are actually pretty similar, but something about this one jus gets real boring by the 3rd listen... I'll give it another go but in the meantime it's just very plain jane underground hiphop.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW09rkCStwU

Vinnie Paz - God of Serengeti. I dont really pay attention to this dood coz u pretty much know what to expect with a Vinnie P / JMT album, but I ran into a friend and he talked about how much he likes these doods so I decided to pick it up. And yup, absolutely nothing unexpected here. However that's not to say it isnt a good record, and anywhere u can find a new RA the Rugged Man verse makes me happy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsK-OxJQJP8

Styles of Beyond - Reseda Beach. This was shelved years ago and finally came out. My new theory is, if a dope album gets shelved, it gets leaked (AZ - Final Call). If it doesnt and actually comes out years later, it sucks (MOP - Ghetto Warfare). So yah, definitely a disappointing album here, really sucks too since 2000 Fold is easily in my top 20, maybe even top 10, of all time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqjG13vLPPY

and a few quick hits:

Ruste Juxx -VIC and Blaq Poet - EBK. ehh to both of these.

Skyzoo - A Dream Deferred. okay album, but nothing really stuck and lots of music came out afterwards so havent really gone back to it.

and I got more on my playlist so I'll be back to share more later!

Had to grab that Art of Dying album from my man Ca$his & just found this hot cut from 50 cent ft Snoop & Jeezy(rather have had jadakiss with his Consignment flow) but with this beat people will hop on a remix or just do they're own version. If fif is back wit an album full of cuts like this day 1 buy for me.
edit: caught the Rick Ross/MMG jab LOL gotta love fif
