The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

You should be okay since as said it's "First Print" whereas something like Project X Zone, there was clearly a Limited Edition one that came out same day as the standard one.

I would recommend waiting for a drop on Escha and Logy. I've played all five ps3 Ateliers on launch and have been really disappointed with this one. There are some interesting twists to the synthesis, but the game is incredibly easy, the story has no drive, and the translation to english is very poor. They still have the "sting" typo from Ayesha! I'm planning to submit a complaint about that, maybe they will release a patch with an updated script if enough people complain.
Ah to be honest I was never excited about this one and was going to pass on it for a while but that 20 price point I would have thrown it straight to the backlog. Sorry to hear the localization is kind of poop...I kind of expected since Tecmo Koei seem to be rushing these out. Pretty sad when we used to see how much effort was put into the localization by NISA.

34m playthrough of Witch and the Hundred Knight. Looks decent, aside from the camera being blocked by trees and stuff. I'm not a big fan of that without accompanying transparency to handle the issue.

Only reason I am keeping my preorder is the $20 Amazon glitch. The game looks ok but nothing spectacular.

Did anyone's FFX HD Ship yet? Amazon is still has not and I already had an item due for tomorrow ship out last night. Not that I am in a hurry to play it or anything but it would be nice to know it's coming.

I don't know if this was discussed yet over here but Amazon Prime is going up in price this year from $79.99 a year to $99.99 a year. It will also be going up for students too, which is half the price of what the regular price is. Kind of depressing honestly.

Another note:

Neptunia action game and Hyperdimension Netputnia Victory II were announced at Dengeki Game Festival this weekend. Not really sure if they are coming over to the west or not the article  really does not state, it just says that they are both currently in development for 2014 release.

It goes up today. Hasn't switched yet ( I just checked) but it will soonish.

The Victory sequel will mostly likely get a release here next year, not sure about the hack and slash though.

Yea, my copy shipped over the weekend and it will be here tomorrow. I'm pretty sure you will get it tomorrow as well since it has release date delivery.

I'll have to admit that the translations were poor on this one. But I actually liked this one as it isn't a pain in the ass like the others to have to ruin to specific areas with no markings whatsoever to find cutscenes if you are going for platinum. All events are marked with an exclamation point here so you don't have to suffer if you are going to platinum without a guide. As for difficulty...I don't really see much of a difference in difficulty in this one compared to any of the others. One you have your end game equipment with the best stats, it's obvious it is going to be easy. Without knowledge of the crafting system and how to make the best stats, people are actually struggling to get by on the final bosses. As for people to played the Japanese version, they mention that the DLC bosses for this one is by far the most ridiculous to fight.

Oh yeah story...It didn't really feel like it had much of a story. I actually didn't even know there really was a story till around the 6th~ term when they start talking about the unexplored ruins.

I played a review copy of it. It really is sort of a strange game that needs a lot of work to be truly great. I don't mind the low graphics, but the trees blocking the camera is a major issue and the controls take a bit of getting used to. There is also no way to pause the game...as Start takes you to the menu.

Metallia constantly says the f word, which is bleeped out. They really should have let the language go through with a higher rating or changed it to another word that didn't need a bleep.

The game gets a bit repetitive and the constant clock running on the field map is annoying, but manageable. At least you can redo areas as much as you want, but the longer you stay the more bonus points and stage rewards you will get.

anybody played The Cursed Crusade? Trying to see if it's worth the $8
It's okay. It can be a little difficult at times and it drags on a bit too long, but if you have someone to play coop with you'll have more fun with it. As a single player game, there are worse ways to spend your time, but there are also better; you won't be missing much if you skip it.

Not sold in stores nor available online though? Probably a glitch. If by some miracle it WAS available, I'd probably cancel my CE to get it lol
Yeah guys, its not happening, its not gonna break street date, and on the 17th from what I checked on the page, you can't even no longer pre-order/purchase it anymore, so yeah, this isn't gonna be like the X1 fiasco that happened.

Some target break street date tho. I saw tales of sym in a target a week before release date. Probably incompetent employees.

Generally the register won't allow the sale though. Numerous CAGs have reported seeing games a week or two before release at Target and not being able to actually complete the transaction.

Looks like Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed is available for preorder on both Amazon and Gamestop for $39.99, with a release date of 8/5/2014. Promo code PAYPAL15 takes 15% off at Gamestop, though after shipping and tax it'd probably end up being the same price as Amazon.

Thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully Best Buy will add it, too.

My J Stars Victory Vs Anison edition just shipped from AmiAmi. I don't think I'll be getting any sleep this week, too many damn good releases.
Quick question about this. A lot of Japanese games seem to have special editions with premium sound editions or whatever, are these all download codes or actually on disk?

So Gaijinworks is gauging interest for a physical release of Class of Heroes 2G on PS3.

http://www.gaijinworks.com/

This is NOT to preorder, just to see if there is a demand.  They need to pre-sell a minimum 7,000 copies.  And yes, this is the same game you got for PSP, but in HD

Signed up as well.

Also my Witch and The Hundred Knights just charged me from NIS.
I just got charged from NIS as well for it. First time ordering from there so wondering if they will ship it a little before the release date for it to come on the release date.

I'm from Canada so I'm guessing it will come later since its international shipping

My last order with NISA shipped on the day before release, but if your international, you won't be seeing it soon anyways.

I got to see the "Classmating" portion of Conception II yesterday and it went well beyond the line of crazy Japanese antics. You get a brief scene of the girl naked (nothing showing due to camera position) in a pose that looks like it's out of a hentai game and then they show the hand holding scene you can see on the full site. It's giving me second thoughts about the game. At the very least I'm not sure if I want a physical copy hanging around.

Instead of porn I have a "Japanese-stuff-I-hope-my-girlfriend-never-finds-or-she'll-dump-me" box. No amount of smooth talking would ever get her to accept Senran Kagura ...

Just got to say...yeah...ninjas..... I have visual novels on display though on my shelf, also no gf though, but I enjoy the games!

My wife to be is typically okay with these games. She's fine with Akiba's Trip, Senran Kagura, etc.

If she ever cracks open my Monster Musume manga I might have to worry a little more though.

In for Class of Heroes 2G! I hope there's enough interest for a physical edition.

Thumbs up for Monster Musume.

Can you please stop posting your sales in this thread? You already have a dedicated sales thread and your prices aren't exactly a bargain considering you change shipping and tax.

I totally get why they're doing it, but it is borderline spam.

Apologies if it looked like filth posted to this Japanese Niche Games thread. I meant no harm. I was merely trying to post news of recently receiving our PS Vita version import shipment to our California warehouse. backsawayslowly.gif
