The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

Geez, these localizations are smashing it all out of the park.

I thought I'd be happy with just Demon Gaze and Tales of Hearts R, but now I have to look at Fairy Fencer R too.  I think my backlog is in trouble.

You're on CAG.....our backlogs are beautiful and bursting at the seams. Join your brethren....there is no trouble here....isn't the backlog beautiful?

 
anyone know if BBY will get AKIBA'S TRIP? trying to get free shipping on something and was gonna preorder it through amazon if they arent. Theres actually a lot of games im wondering about like mind zero, Xblaze code embryo, and... totally blanking, werent there a few other vita/ps3 nice games coming out they dont have listed yet?

who knows, but knowing bestbuy, they will probably list it at the last minute literally like with drakengard 3. you can ask always make a topic over at the bby forum, and ask them

Listing a preorder page three weeks before release doesn't count as "at the last minute literally" IMO. :roll:

But but...I didn't want to get swamped anymore and then there's Kickstarter! (Seriously, I'm glad I have a backlog but it was getting ridiculous.)

Besides, I don't want my own "curves" getting too much bigger in the process thank you very much!

The best medicine for a backlog is to acknowledge that you'll never beat all your games. I lied to myself for years saying "I'll beat these games eventually." Eventually I was honest with myself and I know I'll never do it. Especially since most of them are RPGs and we're talking thousands upon thousands of hours that need to be made up.

DON'T SAY THAT! I WILL PLAY THROUGH THESE HUNDREDS OF GAMES ONE DAY... maybe... possibly... If I was locked in my room for a year with no new releases... or I might just play whatever was already in the system...

You are certainly right about that. My problem is that when I look at my backlog (of about 130)...AAAND the now select visual novels that I want to start trying...AAAND the enormous timesinks the next Smash Bros. game and Hearts R will be...AAAND that I play games slowly...I realize that not only am I in trouble but I was starting to not enjoy some of the games as much.

I think I want to wait and see how this year plays out though and then go from there though. I may only want to play many of my 30ish RPGs once and I may not even finish them at all.

BTW - I am also an Eagles fan myself and there's that timesink which is just too fun to ignore too. :D

I have a small backlog compared to everyone elses so I can at least see possibly beating it at some point. already finished tales of xillia, 2 pokemons and working on the f arc in graces right now along with shining force and arc the lad 2. still scary looking at all these rpgs especially since like said alot of them being rpgs.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I placed an order with Nisa awhile back with multiple items in it. The package shipped out earlier this week and arrived today. My tracking info says that it was supposed to have 3 items in it, but the packing list and box contain only one thing.

Was it 3 of the same item, or 3 different items? My last order with them was for 3 of the same item, and for some ungodly reason, they shipped 2 items in one box, and 1 single item in the other. I was like WTF?

I only got tracking for the one package, and the other arrived a day later. For some reason, the one box with two items shipped from TX, and the other single item box shipped from Arizona I believe. I never did get a reason why they separated the order that way. So is this normal? Yeah, I guess it is. If I remember correctly, one came by UPS and the other by USPS.

3 different items. Wagnaria season 2, nyarklo, and demon gaze le. Wagnaria came today via usps.
 
Just got my tracking info...not delivered till april 25th using media mail...which means they stuffed the CE in a cheap envelop and will be crushed to hell. I will be talking with NISA support for compensation or replacement if this actually happens...

Yeah, Amazon shipping is definitely worse now relative to before. I used to be able to buy two items in an order, and it would always come in a box. Now, Amazon will stuff those two items into a bubble mailer. The limit now may be at least three items if you want a box (assuming all items are being shipped from the same location)

It's possible they shipped from different locations or it was also possibly that they had two ready to go and the other came later in the day. Lot's of variables could go into the what ifs...though, "James" in packing could be a screw up and overlooked something.

50+ ps3 games, 30ps2 games,25ds/3ds games, 20 xbox360 games, 20wii games, 10gamecube games, 5 wii U games, 3seasons of downtown Abby on blu ray, 2 ps1 games, and 1 fiancé...I'll find time somehow..when I finish this stupid engineering degree and have time to enjoy life again.

Hmm, that's odd. What's even odder is that I'm in NE Texas. Mine shows it went from Grand Prairie, TX - Coppell, TX, then to Shreveport, LA...just to come back to Omaha, TX...

Like you, I'm so backlogged I won't play it for some either, but we like getting our games asap regardless if we get to play them now or later.

 
That's good news on Fairy Fencer F. I remember looking into that game earlier. Really hope I have some money soon to get it. :pray:

Haha all I remember from Fairy Fencer F is that busty lady who seems to only wear some barely there tied up shirt type top thing I believe and one of her scenes was her getting caught changing. Not that i'm complaining, as I'll buy it, but that's all I remember haha.

 
My Disgaea D2 came in from Play Asia. Came in better packaging than every CE I order from Amazon, lol.

Now the only JRPG's I wanna get for my PS3 collection is Hyperdimensional Neptunia Victory and the latest Atelier game but they will be once it's cheaper.

 
Hey guys, the page for Tales of Hearts is down, but for some reason, you're still able to preorder in store. I put the whole amount down and was able to preorder it yesterday. The listing said it's coming out on 1/01/15, but that's just a placeholder date, obviously.

I too have a fiancee and have had a computer engineering degree for a few years. I find myself having more time. Every time I read something that says "I wish I had as much time as I had in college to play games" I just laugh.

The biggest pitfall is: Disposable income can turn into a larger backlog. I found a nice Play n Trade near where I moved to work that did Buy 2 Get 1 all used games, all the time. So I was just like "yeah, I can get down on some retro" and the backlog probably tripled.

But! My fiancee games (which helps a lot when I want to spend time on my hobby) and I play more games now than I did through all of college (non-working breaks excluded).

I did dump all of my free money into student loans first though, which is advisable. As soon as those were paid off though.. Things got out of hand. :p

Has anyone seen the IA/VT Colorful Crystal Box in stock anywhere?

I held off on my order because on play-asia's search page it says "announced, pre-orders coming soon" but I just noticed that if you actually click on the item they say that they've already sold all of their allocations.
