The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Damn, went to pick on my Persona Q Premium at Gamestop. Apparently I hit the pre-order window too late, so they are having to special order my copy in and it wont be available till Friday.

Guys -

I've got Tales of Xilia 1/2, Tales of Symphonia for ps3 and Tales of Heart R, WHERE THE HELL SHOULD I START? Is there an specific order or do the stories do not overlap?

No specific order! Well, except for Tales of Xillia 1 and 2. :p

Dawn of the New World is also a sequel to ToSymphonia. So definitely play ToS before DotNW.

Start with whichever you want! They're all separate universes.

Play symphonia first as it will be harder to go back as other games made a lot of improvement.

Those two sound like good choices. I'm actually waiting for a deal on them to pick them up too.
Xilia 2 is $20 this black Friday at gamestop & best buy too btw
best buys already sold out in most areas. However you can price match to target I read in the one holiday deal thread.

Still hoping amazon will price match xillia 2 since I missed the best buy deal and no Gamestop nearby
doubt it otherwise they already would have. If you want it though see above.

It'll be on sale Nov 27 @ 11:10 PM (goes by your own time zone?). It might be $20.
considering what happened with the other "sales" I highly doubt it.

this. xillias stories are self contained though so you can play them in either order. Preferably its better to just play the 2nd since they use the same combat system so youd be bored as hell if you played the first and wanted to try the second. Dawn of the new world is a spinoff low budget escort title that has prettymuch nothing to do with symphonia it just is placed in their world and has the cast from symphonia in it as nerfed party members.

Just ordered the Gamestop's XIllia 2 for $25.XX total after tax + shipping. Decided not to wait for Amazon's hopeful PM.

Also started up Persona Q. Sure is filling my Etrian Odyessey crave. Hope it will last me until the 5s are ready (both Etrian Odyessey 5 and Persona 5)

It will be a glorious day when Persona 5 comes out.
depending entirely on what they do with it. If all they do is make minimal improvements and backsteps like p3-p4 then I'm not exactly interested. Playing the same game again with just a minor reskin and different personality when the gameplay is prettymuch 100% the same just kills it for me. I felt so bored out of my mind going through p3p and p4 at times.

I would probably settle for a mixture of p3's shuffle, vending machines, clock, tactical field options and dungeon crawling being set to night. But with 4's character improvements in battle via social links and unique dungeon sets. Social links and the games callender would have to be completely overhauled to remove all the filler crap and make scheduling more logical. Set up group activities, Allow the player to choose who they hang out with on weekends instead of random phone call order. As an example outside cooking segments in p4 the lunch and school hours are entirely wasted which is dumb considering the main reason people become friends is through daily activities together.

So Amazon price matches Curtain Call, and of course it's the crappy Standard Edition. Wanted to use my credit there.
from the best buy site it seems the only thing that is in the LE is a 5 track sound track? am I missing something?

either way I ordered from best buy since it is only $16 for me there.

edit: I guess it also comes with an outer box... but I really don't see how that is remotely enough to call the standard version crappy compared to the pathetic limited edition (seriously if your cd is only going to have 5 songs you might as well not even bother including it)

I also decided not to wait to see what Amazon will charge for Xillia 2 and got it for about $25 from GameStop.
if you leave it sealed could you not return it to gamestop if amazon has it cheaper?

Should have thrown in a cheap 5 dollar game to get the free shipping. It only cost me 27.XX and I got 2 games.

Not sure I'm going to enjoy a fist of the north star game, but it was cheap and you punch dudes.

Hopefully Amazon will PM Gamestop for Tales of Xillia 2....for today, finally Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS went down again to $19.99 on Amazon....after a year of waiting, got it this time.

Amazon price matched on P4AU. I'm tempted to get it just for the Teddie bopbag and cards. Well, I'd play it too of course.

FFXII - $8
I got excited for a second there.
