The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Chrono Trigger on the DS included a poster. Not sure if all copies do.

MGS: Peace Walker had some limited edition version, that had I think postcards or some stupid thing. I don't think it was anything substantial.
"First run" copies of Chrono included the poster (same thing with FF 4 Heroes for DS and KH Re for PS2). Not sure if the first run copies have run out at this point.

The Peace Walker LE came with an over-sized box and an art book.

FF: 4 Heroes of Light did? I'll have to check my copy as I got it in November.

Edit: Cool, it did ^_^. Haven't even opened it (the poster) to see what it was.
Yep, all copies of Eternal Poison had the artbook plastic wrapped to the game case.
Since when? My sealed copy begs to differ.

When I bought it upon release, it was included with the game. Even ones on Ebay had it included. I guess I didn't realize that some brand new copies didn't include it anymore. News to me.

This is something I was wondering about. I got one fairly recently (past 6 months or so) from amazon and it came with the artbook.
Has anyone played the :ds: version of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure?
Yeah, it's a fun game and I dig the music for it. But I believe there was a debate a few pages back...some loved it, some hated it. But it's an easy RPG game with cool characters that you can use for battles.

Rhapsody A Musical Adventure is an easy, starter RPG for those not wanting to drudge too much in managing their party. Most battles can be won simply by pressing the A button and not even looking at the screen. The DS version's vocal tracks are all in Japanese, while the PS1 release has them in English. The PS1 version I like better. PS1 also had the soundtrack CD.

For the XBOX, "Shenmue II" came with the movie, I know there was a "Jet Set Radio" bundle, anything else for limited edition or special packs for the XBOX? I guess Tecmo's "Dead or Alive 1 and 2", I don't think that was special though right? And if I recall, for PS2, King of Fighters Maximum Impact came with a DVD and possibly special packaging but I don't remember.

Is this the book you guys got with your sealed copy? I didn't get one with my copy. If Amazon has them, that's pretty good because this game has gone down to $16 last time I checked. Update: Looks like they sold out and it's third party now.

Looks like it (haven't actually opened mine). Just for reference I got the one from amazon (with the art book) at the end of November when it was still ~$16. No idea if the $35 copies from amazon still come with it or not.
Does anyone have any information if Xseed is going to remake Ys IV for the PSP?
For that matter, what about Ys V and Origins as well?

They're a publisher. Not a developer. So I doubt it!

They had a similar promotion with Gamestop stores and sending receipt/invoice to Xseed when you preordered/bought Ys Chronicles 1 and 2 on PSP. It's worth it for those who only got the standard editions of the games.

What was that promotion and is it still available?
Sigh, I have all of those already. Why couldn't they including one thing that was more original.
Same here. I guess they didn't feel it was worthwhile to produce a new item just to appease their die-hard fans, since they figure we'll buy everything anyway. *Sigh* And they're probably right...

Does anyone know for a fact that the reason Hyperdimension Neptuna is out of stock everywhere is because they are out of the "Special Edition" versions? If so, I may have to check my local Gamestops to get a copy.

there is only one edition of Hyperdimension Neptunia. I don't think a standard edition has made its rounds to any retailer yet.

Supposedly, Amazon, Gamestop and even NIS shop had sold out. But I was reading that through a gamefaq or NISA forum. Not sure if that is still the case, but I did purchase one from a Gamestop because of several stores around here, only one received it and only one package as opposed to Atelier Rorona, the Y's LE's or Deathsmiles which they have received several.

I really wanna get Radiant Historia, but the description for it on Amazon doesn't mention the CD and stuff. Anyone here order it recently and get the whole package?

Ah, poop. Did Amazon ever list the soundtrack as being part of the game? Just want to make sure that their stock definitely doesn't have it before I bite the bullet and order from Gamestop.

Actually they did mention it when I checked the week it came out. I was actually going to purchase it from Amazon since Gamestop was selling for $34.99 but Amazon sold out at $29.99 and price jacked up.

They did, it's just, at this link (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CVWETI/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER) when it initially said "ships in 1-2 weeks" it had the little box right underneath saying it came with the CD, instead of the stuff about trade in value (which it had showed for every other seller) that it now shows. Also, the CD was only supposed to come with every "launch copy", so I don't know if I'd really bet on it being there after a restock.

For what it's worth, the soundtrack for Radiant Historia is very nice piano music, but it's also incredibly short -- only five tracks. A little disappointing, as I'm sure there's got to be more music than that in the game (I'm assuming, anyway -- haven't had a chance to start playing it yet). While it's a nice bonus, I wouldn't consider it absolutely essential.

Did anyone else get charged for their Ar Tonelico Qoga? Just checked my account and they already charged me for the whole thing.

Yep, charged me last night as well.
Etrian Odyssey III is currently $19.60 on Amazon.
With the artbook still, too. Damn, I had sworn that I wasn't going to put anything else on my credit card for this billing cycle . . .

I just wish it was included in their "buy one get one 50% off" DS game deal too, but I guess we can't have everything.

I have not played a Harvest Moon game ever, but I'm looking forward to digging into this one (after Pokemon White that is...)
Thanks for the heads up. Backordered though. I guess I can take my chances in store.
