The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!
Does anyone know if Amazon is offering the limited edition of Fate/Extra? I just noticed on Aksys's site that they will be offering one, and checkd which i had pre-ordered on Amazon, and it doesn't say one way or another. I think it's just the regular edition, since its 29.99 msrp, but i dont even see an option for the limited over on Amazon. It would be strange if they havent listed it yet with a release date of 11/1. Where can you get the limited edition?

^id be interested to know when the Fate/Extra LE comes out and where as i pre-ordered it too and would rather get the LE if they have one.
The Limited Edition will soon be available on both amazon.com (I believe) and gamestop.com and will be released on 11/1/11 at the MSRP of $39.99. More information about the Limited Edition of FATE/Extra can be found here.

Pre-ordering from Gamestop.com will also yield an additional Fate/Extra goodie (yet to be revealed).

On a more personal note, I am very much looking forward to Fate/Extra and will pre-order the Limited Edition as soon as the listing is up.

ya that last link that Kotomine put up is the one i was talking about. Not too much info on it though, which is strange since it comes out in a little over a month. No idea what it actually includes that makes it LE or what the gamestop exclusive is. Im hoping we get some info soon. I think i'll cancel my pre order for the regular edition, i didn't know there would be a LE version. I just hope its more than just a soundtrack or something

It looks like it IS available for pre-order on Amazon now. It wasn't when i made my last post. No real info on it though

I figured I'd throw this out there:
I ordered the Ar Tonelico: Qoga from Gamestop.com and it came today.
It has its original game case and manual, and the disc is in perfect condition (obviously it doesn't have the other stuff like artbook and such).

I was going to return it to Gamestop since now I have two copies of this game, but I figured I'd see if a fellow CAG wanted a copy first? I know the ones on eBay (the US version at least, not the PAL) are going for around $65 or so, so would anyone like a copy for a little less than that or should I just return it?

Not a deal but NISA announced today:

Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PSVITA)
Some Disgaea Android game

Did you get it new or used? I dont see it even avalible for new on their website. If you got it used, just return the disc itself and keep all the swag. Screw gamestop, thats their shitty policy, so milk it for all its worth. Those a-holes tried to sell me their last Shiren the wanderer for the wii at full price when it was New but they didn't have a box or manual o_O
Limited edition for Fate/Extra is up:

hmm this was mentioned earlier, but looks like the gamestop page finally has a little blurb on what the extra is. Looks like its some kinda little booklet? Not much info given. Is this REALLY just a gamestop exclusive? Id rather order from amazon or anywhere else.

Actually it looks like its Online only, so i have to pay both tax AND shipping. What the hell?? Is it letting anyone else get it for pre-ordering in store? That seems like a huge hassle for an extra we have no real info about

Got it used from the last page of this thread when it was up for sale on the website for a few hours.

I'll probably just head out to one of my local Gamestops to do a return (Last call for a sale here, anyone?).
I don't think I could bring myself to strip the game of the case and manual, that's a pretty lame thing to do to the next guy who wants to buy it.

EDIT:
Haha, I just got back from returning the used copy of Ar Tonelico: Qoga, and I find out this Gamestop has a NEW copy of the game with all the bonus stuff for $60! I'm sure I could eBay that for some profit, but it might be too much trouble. I'm a bit hesitant about buying giant collector's editions nowadays anyway because I'm running out of room to store all this shit.

Fate Extra LE is online only for gamestop
Fate Extra LE is online only for gamestop
Just to clarify. Fate Extra Limited Edition is not exclusive to GS (amazon link here). However, the pre-order bonus, the fact booklet that is sort of a 20-page magazine, is.
Anyone here get their P2 Innocent Sin?

I got mine from Amazon, but the outer box is crushed up kinda nasty. Shame.
Got mine, but it's almost in perfect condition, other than one notch that looks similar to spider wrap damage. Mine was shipped in a bubble mailer.

Usually, the games I got, that are in boxes, like PSP games, come in that plastic wrapped with a cardboard piece, or in a box with the air pillows inside. Sucks that this time, you guys got the bubble mailer.

I got my Persona 2 Innocent Sin from Amazon today. They shipped it in a bubble mailer and of course it was crushed. I tried to request a replacement, but it seems Amazon has the item under arrive and I can only get a refund right now. I hope this gets figured out soon and I can get a replacement.

I'm guessing they have a very high return rate on the game because I am seeing reports on other sites of most of the warehouses shipping it out in bubble pouches and the game box is thinner than previous releases and doesn't have shrink-wrap, so it's very easy to damage. I cancelled my Amazon pre-order last week after I saw a box mock-up and ended up buying it locally. It cost me a few extra dollars, but at least I don't have to make a trip to the UPS store or Post Office for the inevitable return. By the way, the soundtrack isn't an exclusive or even preorder bonus. Every store I have seen it at has the same soundtrack included version on the shelf.

craappp a lot of people saying they got their copies of P2 in bubble mailers. I better go through my piles of games and see if that happened. I think i got some mailers the other day but assumed they were something else. Hopefully its not this game. I usually have these things shipped in boxes from amazon. The only stuff ive had issues with getting damaged from them are art books. They dont package those well at all most of the time

I ordered it with a Blu-ray and they put it in a box. It seems to be totally random though. A few months ago I ordered Legend of Heroes with 2 movies and it came in a mailer.

My P2 came from Amazon in a box and was in perfect condition. So they're not shipping all of them in mailers, anyway. Sucks for those who did get damaged copies. I wish Amazon would just stop using those mailers.

Jesus tap dancing christ. I just checked and my persona 2 just shipped a few days ago.. which is awesome, that means it sat in some transit station of the weekend. If its a bubble mailer im sure its crushed. I notice their webpage shows its not avalible through them anymore because its under review. You'd think they would catch on by now

DONT USE A DAMN BUBBLE MAILER FOR LE STUFF!

Amazon used to be great for shipping but ive been getting a LOT of damaged artbooks and stuff in lately. Its starting to piss me off actually. Did they change shipping companies or wharehouses or something? They have seriously gone down hill.

Actually they've stopped selling Persona 2 because of the damage to the box during shipping. I bought it the day before they posted the explanation for the temporary sales freeze of Persona 2, and they seem to be holding my shipment. This isn't rocket science - I hope they resolve it soon.

Ah someone shares my pain. Actually Amazon did not get any new shipping companies. I know because I have family who works in a distribution facility. I don't know how they ship items but it's a bad place at Amazon. They are treating their employees like crap and in return I can see a lot of people not giving a jack fuck about people's items.

Also it might just be Amazon trying to save costs for whatever reason and then having it backfire in the end with damaged products.

Just wanted to let you guys know, who are interested in the PSP Black Rock Shooter game, that NISA wants to see the demand for the Premium Box version with the White Rock Shooter figma. They are doing a poll on Siliconera. NISA linked to the poll from their facebook fanpage as well. Here's the link: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/09/26...-out-of-japan/

i know, thats what i was saying. I noticed that they had froze it. I ordered mine a while back, on the 18th i think it was, and found it strange that it shipped a few days ago when shipping was frozen. I was worried because it sat in a shipping station durring the weekend >_< If its in a bubble mailer im boned

Jesus.. well that doesn't sound good. That sucks that theyre treating their employees like that, if thats true. I find it kinda hard to belive they just had paramedics standing by to help people that fainted then fired them o_O Its been a couple months that ive noticed they've been shipping stuff poorly. For me its been mostly art books. Ive had to send like 5 back so far, and i think i got more sitting downstairs that i gotta check in on now.

Strangely enough, my P2:IS came in a bubble wrapper, crammed into the little mailbox... and was completely undamaged except MAYBE for a very subtle crease that could've been just part of the box's design since that was about where the extra bit of cardboard for holding the CD case was. But yeah, I usually got minor dents in the corners from them. I didn't usually worry too much, but it's probably worth considering just going to GameStop instead for stuff like this that I care enough about.

Why? So you can get a box that is shelf worn and already been opened for you?
Why? So you can get a box that is shelf worn and already been opened for you?
So far I've had good luck with my Gamestop not gutting CE or LE products, just normal games. That said I have had pretty good luck with Amazon too. Some pretty messed up boxes, but the contents have been good.

My P2:IS was delivered on the 21st according to UPS, but it's nowhere to be found in my building's mail room. I contacted Amazon support last night and they refunded me in full for it no questions asked. Hopefully my re-order will be sent in a box once it's available to be purchased again.

good news: fry's (concord, ca) protects P2:IS with an acrylic box.
bad news: it also slaps the price sticker directly on the non-shrink wrapped outer carton.

If it's pre-ordered it shouldn't be like that, at worst they stick a price sticker on anyway and theirs are usually very easy and clean to remove. But if it WAS a choice between a superficial crush and that? Yeah, I'd go with the superficial crush any day.

I requested a replacement for my crushed Persona 2 as soon as it became available again on Amazon. Of course they sent it in another bubble mailer and it was crushed again. It's kind of surprising that they would continue to ship these in a bubble mailer after all the complaints they got. They only difference for the second shipment was that it was delivered by A1 Courier rather than UPS.

I put in a request for yet another copy. If it arrives crushed again, I'll give up and ask for a refund.

I had the EXACT same problem you had. They shipped the first copy, game box was crushed. Got the replacement, the game wasn't as bad, but still crushed. I called Amazon's CS, and told them of my problems. The guy said:

A. "We'll reimburse you for half the cost of the game ($20), while keeping the replacement." or
B. "Put in a request for another copy."

I chose A, since only the bottom flap was bent, and not the rest of the box like the first copy.

I would definitely contact them about it.

Got a nice, sealed Hyperdimension Neptunia from GameStop today. I was amazed I could even find one sealed and in great shape since it was shipped from another store ~80 miles away. A little goo gone and the price stickers will only be a memory. Plus I noticed their Ar tonelico Qoga was sealed so I might pick that up when I have some more credit.

Looks like Amazon denied my request for a second replacement on Persona 2. They are giving me a refund. I guess I'm going to try buying it somewhere else. I'm not sure where though. Looks like it will cost me more as I had the Gold Box discount applied.

Call them or do a live chat and see what they can do.

Picked up a sealed Atelier Rorona from GS and didn't even have a sticker on it. Great shrinkwrap on it too. They also have a sealed Ar tonelico Qoga which I might get later since its shrinkwrap looked better than the other store's. If any one in the Carolinas or Georgia and want one, let me know and I'll get you the store information so they can ship it to you.

Amazon is only going to allow you to exchange so many times because it is causing them money.

Just a heads up. Noticed an email that Solatorobo shipped today. I had forgotten the release date had crept up on me. Dunno if i should buy a 2nd copy of it or wait for a price drop. Im wondering if this is gonna become rare and hard to find later. Id like a sealed and open copy.

anyway reading some of the posts here.. thats BS about Amazon sending P2 multiple times and it being damaged each time. You'd think theyd package their shit right
Amazon is only going to allow you to exchange so many times because it is causing them money.
Yes, but thats their fault You cant ship stuff like that in bubble mailers. If the company is too retarded to package something right multiple times, then thats not very fair to just say too bad. How about they actually.. you know... package stuff right?

How long has Gamestop shipped games to you or other stores. They used to do it in the PS1 days, but then stopped.

My local GS will still have stuff sent from other stores for me. But they limit it to in-state stores. I think it just depends on your regional employees and management.

I ordered Legend of Heroes from them, got it in a box and was damaged. Exchange and it was also damaged. It just make more sense for me and amazon that I shop elsewhere. They also don't want someone who is too OCD and keep costing them money.
