The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

A shame really. I remember having the window open and ready to purchase, only to think that I should wait until the special edition hits 40 at Gamestop and risk finding only gutted copies.
 
:D Radiant Historia is being sent to my local Gamestop. I wish I could buy it new, but I'll take it! I have $5 store credit floating, anyways and those stupid power-up rewards are getting me $10 off. Total of about $12 for it (cart only).

Haha, I'm still debating. Never got the first Neptunia so I'm resisting. Btw, what do you consider a complete collection? Ones just from NIS?

I would play some shmups if I had the system. I mostly play JRPGs as 2D fighting is not as common and there have not been too many sidescroll games which have interested me as of late. My tastes are definitely Japanese. I am completely uninterested in the big 360 offerings like Militaria, FPS, and Sports.
 
Atlus just sent out an e-mail that hints what their next game will be. The clue is that it starts with a "G". In the corner of the e-mail, you can get another clue if you click the link, but it's their Facebook page and I don't have Facebook. Can anyone else check?

God, I hope it's Growlanser.
 
It just takes you to their Facebook page. I don't think the second clue is revealed yet. They probably mean the next clue will be revealed on Facebook.

Edit: I bet it's Game of Thrones, actually.

It is. And it's not news. Not quite sure why they're announcing it like it's new information because it's already been confirmed that they're publishing it.

BestBuy.com has Valkyria Chronicles II For $9 FF 4 HoL for $5. Okamiden for $12, Might and Magic Clash of Heroes for $8. Plus plenty of other awesome deals, if they ever go live.

When the first post went up, I posted "Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded"...the latest clue is that it ends with an R. So, imho it's Growlanser or Gungnir.

I figured they've done Growlanser before...might as well continue the series...

Speaking of "Growlanser", was anyone lucky to buy the Working Designs release of "Growlanser: Generations"? I only have the standard version.
 
I did at one point and still have some parts of it

I sold the watch in a lowball auction once since it had stopped working (and I have never even taken it out of the box)

Was it an automatic watch (runs by movement) or quartz (batteries)? The reason why I delayed in buying it back then was it was a watch...and wasn't into purchasing a game for a watch that I would never wear. But now...change of heart.

Looks like Okamiden on Best Buy has sold out for $11.99...

Still regret not buying Solatorobo for $19.99 but hope that price will go back down.

Received my Fate/Extra LE via bubble mail envelope...thankfully no dents.

Also, need to get Totori Premium...but man...I spent way too much this Holiday season.

The game is definitely worth it! But for the Premium Edition which was $39.99 and now $17.03...that's a great price!

Are these titles starting to clear out due to PSP fading out? I recently purchased a PSP and a ton of games but I have been trying to stick to digital downloads and games that are only on UMD since I am planning to get a Vita next year. I'm not sure if it's gonna be cheap to get the download code for these titles once the Vita is out. Tactics Ogre and TiTS seems really cheap to pass up on (normal versions)

I personally think it's the holidays! Despite many people thinking the PSP is dead here in the U.S., I think there is still life in the PSP, especially in Japan as PSP games still continue to dominate the weekly sales charts. I can see these niche companies continue to support the platform for a little while longer.

There is a great lineup of games for this week's Vita release in Japan but the problem is the memory card. 32GB memory card for $185 (Y14480) is expensive! Granted, you can get a 4GB memory card for $23 (Y1,800) and 8GB for $34 (Y2,618). It'll be interesting to see how things are for the US release, especially when it comes to pricing.
 
Given how low the Ys Premium sets went (And still dip into), the TitS price drop shouldn't surprise.

Note that the DR2 CE's only real draw is an artbook that I found scanned with relative ease. I'm a big fan of the game in the general case, with a big DR-flavored YMMV stamp for good measure, but that CE just keeps tempting me and repulsing me

I thought SCEA forced them to put the first one on PSN because it had no dub or something.
