The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

Hori in the same regard as MadCatz? Um, no, that couldn't be further from the truth. Hori makes great quality products, particularly their screen protectors and cases for portable devices. You may have had a bad experience with them in the past, but you'd be the exception not the rule. I see Hori and I know it's a name I can trust and will be a quality product.

To even mention them in in the same sentence as MadCatz is an insult as the two are not in the same class at all.
 
Admittedly it's been a while since I've been willing to try any third party controller for any system with the exception of some Logitech stuff for PS2. And I don't bother with cases or protectors. Perhaps things have changed at some point, but I've been burned by third party controllers and memory cards several times in the past from many different companies. I guess my bad on that one. I shouldn't have said anything about it without recent experience. I also kind of never took them seriously since they've released a lot of absolutely ridiculous controllers... Like that stupid Dragon Quest one...

this, Hori makes some of the best quality accessories out there

heck I imported one of their hard pouches for my Vita back at launch and have my 3DS, DS Lite and Vita all encased in Hori pouches

Definitely not getting this. I am somewhat of a collector, especially for Atlus, but I cannot see paying ~$70 for this... Maybe if it had an artbook or something.
 
This CE should only be $10 more then a vanilla version. Unless you're just a die hard persona fan I don't see the bonus content justifying $40 more then a vanilla version.

For $40 extra id rather have another game. If they add a soundtrack, full size art book and figure/plushie maybe. Ill pass on the stickers.

Realistically though since I don't even own a vita I would just get a new copy for $20 bucks on amazon for PS2.

artbook and soundtrack CD would do it for me
 
I'm shocked how many people don't seem into this.

I already have P4 for PS2 that came with an art book and soundtrack, as well as P4 Arena that had the Remix Soundtrack, so I was pretty pumped about Persona 4 cases / covers for the vita instead.

It looks like a pretty decent case to me, and the price to import the Hori japanese P4 vita kit was roughly $30 before shipping. I don't think it's a bad deal at all.

I might not be the best example since I'm really only buying a Vita for this game, but I was pretty excited to get the japanese accessory kit as a bonus

But it's not a "bonus". You are paying $30-40 extra for the accessories.

You may want to note that the Blu ray version only has English audio. If you want English & Japanese audio, you need to buy the DVD version.

Some people prefer the original voice track.. Brotherhood of the Wolf (I watched that in French), Hero, Crotching tiger Hidden Dragon, etc. (I watched all of those in Mandarin). As you can see, none of those have Japanese audio.
 
The Persona 4 Golden Package doesn't seem like a Collector's Edition at all but more of a Bundle SKU as soon as they added $30 to the price tag.

I don't think many realize they aren't exactly getting a deal but rather you are buying 2 products at MSRP. >_>

Course who am I kidding? Many of the people who bought this will probably flip it on ebay for triple the asking price. XD (Assuming that the 10,000 of these actually sells out before launch.)

You guys are in the wrong thread. Honestly, I have never met anyone who wanted to be Asian who wasn't already. Met a lot of people who'd like to be "gangsters" though.

I'd rather watch The Three Colors Trilogy in the original French as intended by Krzysztof Kieślowski, doesn't mean I wish I was a French, ditto with Gojira in Japanese

I've always tied roguelikes to randomly generated dungeon rpgs with a ton of floors and limited (or no) progress saving. After checking wiki, I guess there were a couple more variables involved that Persona does not have, but Persona is pretty darn close to a roguelike. I retract my roguelike statement and replace it with semi-roguelike.

I got my preorder switched at Gamestop today. Unlike other Vita owners, I do not own a hard case, so I don't have that problem of redundancy. It's gonna be sweet.
 
Just throwing this out there--I hate this thread.

Not because it is bad, but after playing a couple Xseed games on DS, I check here and see what's out for a system I have and make the purchase, now it is looking like I am doing the same thing with Atlus... I hate it because it's making me broke.

Because that is how it was made. Same with a Swedish film being in Swedish. Dubs are often horrible in terms of voice acting. And authenticity is nice. You do know that such such includes subtitles, correct? While both live-action and not Japanese, I would hate to watch The Seventh Seal or M dubbed. Get some culture.

!!! Never thought I'd see that here, I've watched "Dekalog" several times (it is quite long) and always in Polish. I always watch anything in its original form, it would bother me as much to watch English works in other languages.
 
While I prefer to watch my anime with dubs, people who prefer subs are an important and vocal part of the anime community. Alienating them is not a good idea at all.

But this is Sentai we're talking about. I don't think they've made a good business decision since ever.

actually it's Index's fault, same reason Persona 4: Golden will be English only and Persona 4: Arena ended up region locked

they seem to be incredibly fearful of Japanese consumers importing the American releases

Why would Index care if the Anime has Japanese audio or not?

P4A definitely was a business decision to ensure the Japanese bought the higher priced domestic release instead of importing the cheaper American/Pal releases. They even admitted as much.


Haven't heard any specific reason why they left the Japanese Audio out of P4G.

Sentai said the Japanese licensor required the change and Index is the licensor

I'm sure it's mostly Index's fault, but I'm not letting Sentai off the hook. The English subs could have been hardsubbed for Japanese audio like Katanagatari was.

Ah, well I can't blame them for such a decision.

P4G isn't out of the norm for Atlus though so it shouldn't be classed with P4A or P4:the animation. They don't put dual audio in their localizations afaik. P4A is an exception, probably because it's an Arc System Works game.

I also notice the Okami Official Complete Works art book is out! I had pre ordered that from Rightstuf and it got canceled.. I Just assumed that it was outright canceled and not released, but it seems Amazon DID get some in? Anyone got a copy of that? I may just re-order through Amazon

By the way.. I had an email from Amazon on a canceled artbook that I was stoked about. Did anyone pre order Toxic Volume 1? I got an email at the end of last month telling me that they were canceling my preorder simply because:
"Due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order:"

I assumed it was cancled, but im not sure. I dont even see it listed on their page anymore. Theres a 'not avalible' page up on TRSI though if anyone wants to see what imi talking about:

If you type Toxic Volume 1 into Google search, on the first results page are several sites which explain what happened, including the previously linked Udon site. Seriously, can you please stop asking people for information about things that are easily, easily able to be discovered by five seconds in a Google search?
 
Man, I kinda want to order that P4 set, but I dont own a vita. Im just worried when i go to get the game down the road after i eventually get one, i'll regret not getting this. Honestly the swags not all that cool. Not worth the price point at least IMO. But it is kinda neat. Maybe i'll just wait and hope they drop in price down the road. As people have pointed out, the 'limited' run doesn't seem too limited.

Besides. As someone mentioned, theres no artbook! For that price i want some kinda artbook or something

Screw you. You are obviously using something other than google or are a liar. I searched with both toxic volume 1 and toxic volume 1 art book and found nothing about it being canceled. Other than, like i said some actual sites showing it unavalible and one saying 'publication abandoned'. Toxic volume 1 art book returned more results but still didn't answer my question. Toxic volume 1 returned nothing usefull on page 1 at all.

If Trinity Souls was bad for you, P4 would be much much better. To me, I thought P4 the Animation was pretty decent, if not done well. Plus, who wouldn't like to see P4 be an animated series? I loved the FMV cut scenes they always had. :lol: It followed the storyline pretty imo, with some random stuff here and there. But's pretty much it.

If you're a fan of the English Dub like me, the Cast is slated to be the Original English Cast from the game, and they were mighty fine in their work for the most part if I do say so myself. All in all, I would recommend it, especially if you're in the mood for that right now.

I just checked using Google on two other computers and if you type in Toxic Volume 1, Udon is always one of the first pages to come up and you don't even have to click through as the explanation for what happened is on the search results page. I really just wish you would take some responsibility for using a little common sense and effort rather than constantly abusing the goodwill of CAGs here and in other threads. Yes, there are undoubtedly going to be pieces of information that are hard to find, but this and many others you have posted asking about are very, very easy to find. This isn't your personal concierge service, it's a board for people to share deals and information.

Is last story good? I picked one up at GS today, but I am not sure if I should keep it. It has a slipcover and a book, but I think they all come with that.
