The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!
Is last story good? I picked one up at GS today, but I am not sure if I should keep it. It has a slipcover and a book, but I think they all come with that.
Read online in a few places it was not so good. Xenoblade is the RPG to play for the Wii apparently.

The Last Story's gameplay seems to be very hit or miss with people. I personally enjoyed it a lot, even if it was a bit on the easy side. I just liked jumping off walls and kicking people off balconies. ^_^

The story is a bit weak though, especially compared to Xenoblade. It's also a lot shorter though, as I got through it in about 20 hours.
I heard the pre-order bonus for Virtue's Last Reward (999-2) will be one of those watches again.
yes it has been confirmed.
Its odd because it got great reviews in JP, even from NA outlets. IGN gave the game an 8.5 and listed it number 10 on their top 25 Wii games.
That means it must be an extremely light RPG then.:roll::roll:
I heard the pre-order bonus for Virtue's Last Reward (999-2) will be one of those watches again.
Yeah, I just want a dang picture of it already and to know if it'll be a Gamestop preorder bonus! :bomb:
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/2...5th-anniversary-edition-includes-cow-plushie/

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning 15th Anniversary Edition, available only from Natsume online. Not sure what is included aside from the cow
I'm really thinking about considering this. I'm a huge Harvest Moon fan! When I was younger I was too poor to afford the pre-order bonus/buy the games at launch.

Never owned a cow plushie, but kind of also want the yak. If Natsume's online store let's you get both by pre-ordering, then I might have to figure out a way to get in on this 15th Anniversary Edition.
yes it has been confirmed.
I think someone posted a picture of the watch in this thread. If I remember correctly, it looks like the red one from Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.

The only differences that I can remember is that it is all black and has blue LEDs for the clock.
Yeah, I just want a dang picture of it already and to know if it'll be a Gamestop preorder bonus! :bomb:
I'd like to know this too! Banking that isn't an "online only" bonus like last time.

Sadly, you have to chose between one or the other, or buy two copies of the game. Natsume stated it on their Facebook page. Also note that their shop ships to US ONLY.

The Aksys bonus (999 watch, blazblue and Fate artbook) has almost always been gamestop.com or their online store only.

I'm hoping for an in-store this time around at Gamestop. There's always Aksys's website store. That's where I got my watch a long time ago, now sold out.

You can still get the Fate artbook there. http://www.aksysgames.com/store/
Looks like Under Defeat Deluxe is now up for pre-order on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Under-Defeat-Deluxe-Edition-Playstation-3/dp/B0093FMS3U/
Awesome, I didn't know that Under Defeat Deluxe Edition was getting a disc release in North America! I was under the impression it was going to be a digital download off the PSN and disc for Europe. Hope this doesn't become hard to find.

Oops...I should have read that Joystiq article more closely. It is coming to the U.S. on blu-ray.

It comes with a digital soundtrack and art book. I'm guessing the art book will be small enough to fit inside the game's case and the digital soundtrack will somehow be on the blu-ray disc.

Still debating if I should get Persona 4: Solid Gold Edition. Missed out on both Borderlands 2: Ultimate Loot and Collector's Editions.

Any of you folks getting Ragnarok Odyssey? I don't have any friends that have Vitas, so I need some people to play it with!

My PSN id is : XxZaku777xX

Dear Pork Enthusiasts,

In times of great need and terrible crisis a hero must arise. That hero, that guardian of breakfast and vehicle of mighty pig candy, must stand crispy (but remain chewy as well) and bring justice to those that deserve it the most: our fans. So to declare our thanks for your staunch support of us and our gaming offerings, XSEED has chosen the name for our champion, and it is Bacon.

We bring you... the Praise Bacon Extravaganza (more officially known as the Fan Appreciation Event)!

Many things will be rolled out for you all during this most glorious time, but we'd like to start with a week of sales first. Until the 12th the Online Store will be lowering its minimum ordering requirement to a mere pittance of $10*!

Order anything at that amount or higher and your shipping will be included PLUS a copy of The Last Story soundtrack will be added to your purchase as a bonus. We can personally guarantee that every soundtrack will be lovingly gazed at by staff members from afar and given gentle words of encouragement before being packaged with your order.

-XSEED Games

The Last Story is rated TEEN with Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol and Violence by the ESRB.

Apologies if already posted

Gamersgate has The Lost Angelic Chronicles of Frane : Dragons' Odyssey on sale for $5.99. The site says that the sale ran from 7/1-8/31, but the deal is still good and this is the first time I've seen the game in the "Offers" section.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post this, but for anyone who hasn't yet bought 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for the DS, the re-branded reprint is coming out soon. These copies will have new cover art that refer to the game as Zero Escape in order to tie in with the sequel releasing later this year on 3DS/Vita.

I just thought people would like to know since the cover art on the Amazon product page has been switching back and forth since last night, and one of the featured 3rd-party sellers is already mentioning that their copies are all of the original cover. Personally, I prefer the original cover, so I figured if there were any other people out there who cared about this, they could buy a copy now or at least monitor the situation. On the other hand, I'm sure there are some collectors who would like to purchase the reprint in order to better match with the sequel.

I haven't played the first one, but I have Zero Escape pre-ordered. Would you say it's a must to play the first one?
I actually like the new cover. It's more fitting for the game, imo.
I agree in terms of general atmosphere. It's just that I feel like they were a bit lazy with the hands. The angle of the right hand doesn't work for me in portraying them reaching for each other. Probably not a big deal to most, but I can't unsee it.
I haven't played the first one, but I have Zero Escape pre-ordered. Would you say it's a must to play the first one?
I guess I wouldn't say it's a must, but it's definitely a must-play. You also won't get the full experience of Virtue's Last Reward (as I think we should be calling it since Zero Escape is technically the series name now--the first title is now Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors, I believe).

Do yourself a favor and play the first one. You will most definitely not regret it. :D
I haven't played the first one, but I have Zero Escape pre-ordered. Would you say it's a must to play the first one?
Personally, I feel like you'd be missing out if you didn't. It's a great experience, just above Ghost Trick for me.
I went ahead and bit on Prinny 2. Can't pass it up for $9.96 *sigh* That's it! lol! I can't spends no more! The first game was deliciously brutal and evil, so I'm sure I'll have just as much fun throwing the PSP against the wall with Prinny 2. :p
Lol...curious if the second game is just as nerve racking. I missed the sale but congrats to those who took advantage of it!
I'm sure it's mostly Index's fault, but I'm not letting Sentai off the hook. The English subs could have been hardsubbed for Japanese audio like Katanagatari was.
It happens quite a bit not just with Sentai releases but with Bandai (when they were releasing Blu-ray's) or Aniplex as more people want simultaneous releases but don't want to pay Japanese prices. I have received my review copy of P4 on Blu-ray and I'm really enjoying it!

Speaking of Virtue's Last Reward, isn't Aksys supposed to be having a pre-order through their site someone soon with another free watch? Could swear I heard they were doing it again....

I prefer the original cover, but I also wouldn't mind the newer cover. I kind of want the newer cover. I remember hearing that the newer cover would be available to those who already own the game. I'd buy a Vita port of Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors!

Pre-ordered my copy through my local Gamestop for the 3DS version. I'd like the Vita version, but just don't have the funds for the slightly more expensive Vita system.

They've mentioned it previously, but no firm announcement has been made. It's also not clear which if any retailer will be getting the watch bonus. Last time I believe it was only Gamestop and Aksys directly.
It's now $9.49

Gahh, mind as well purchase a second physical copy. I really like that game.
Ahhh!!! I ordered it last night for $1 more! I thought I should wait it out, but when it was that close to $10, didn't want to risk it either selling out or going back up in price, as has happened before.

I did order it with Fortune Street for $16, and that game went up to $26 today, so I still ended up saving $9 for both over their prices today.

Yet another game to the Aksys & Atlus PSP backlog!
Yay! This is why I'm waiting on pre-ordering the game elsewhere.

Also, great signature! As you can see I love Idolm@ster, I'm down with Miku as well. Clicked. :D
Thanks for your support! :)
They'll be making an official announcement soon!

https://twitter.com/FSNsaber/status/246004412210876416
Cool, thanks for the update--depending on the item/watch quality, I might have to cancel my Newegg and/or GS preorder(s).

Speaking of ZE:VLR (man, that's one of the coolest acronyms I've ever typed ), I was recently weighing the pros/cons of choosing one version over the other, and while I think I'm going to go with :3ds:, I figured I'd list them:

:3ds:
+Longer play time before having to charge system
+Dual screens
+Some sense of continuity and loyalty
-Slightly lower texture quality

Vita
+HD graphics
+Easy touchscreen controls
+Trophies
-Shorter battery life
-Have to switch between menus (something I'm assuming, since you only have one screen, and is in no way confirmed)

Maybe I missed something, in which case anyone can point it/them out.

^Yeah given that pros and cons. I'm leaning towards the 3DS version. I don't really care for trophies, except that moment when they do pop up is nice.

I didn't know that the Vita had a shorter battery life compared to the 3DS. I've heard complaints about the 3DS's current battery life and having to charge the thing more than the DS lite.
