Marvel vs Capcom 3 Strategy Guide $11.55 on Amazon FSSS eligilble

I'm hearing this a lot. Would you mind elaborating a bit? I know one of the main complaints is the X-factor and how a lot of characters can be KO'd with one combo using one meter which I agree seems kind of crazy. A lot of people are suggesting tournaments run at half damage. Idk, these things are what's keeping me from getting the game.

As far as it being too different from Marvel 2 with the triangle jumps and such I dont really care about that. I'm willing to learn a new game, unless its just utterly broken and not worth learning.

It's easier to counter tri-jumps in MvC3 than it was in MvC2. All you needed in MvC2 was an experienced player in either Storm or Magneto and it was over.

Think the main thing is that Sentinel is ridiculous when he's the last character, has X-Factor and 5 hyper bars. X-Factor was just a bad idea overall. The game is fun no doubt but I don't know why they don't bring the top players in to help balance the game.

Yeah it seems like everyone's third is him or Doom and as much as I hate to add to the problem it looks like it might be necessary to have one of them just to be able to stand the same chance as your opponent.

Arrogance is hilarious when you pepper in a some grammatical errors to boot. Nice work.

Sounds like X-Factor is worse than SFIVs Ultras. Those Ultras really killed the game for me. Guess im too old school

I don't have much of a problem with X-factor and the 100% combos. It's really just standard procedure for this series for me to learn the 100% and exploits asap and how to deal with and use them (and honestly, they would be lots more boring without it) It's really just frustrating and limited, like I'm fighting the game more than the player. The decreasing hitstun bothers me in particular. This was the main reason I wanted the guide this week, to see what under hood changes to the engine there were that I missed.

"Arrogance is hilarious when you pepper in a some grammatical errors to boot. Nice work."

I'll own up to the grammar errors (never mind yours) but who is being arrogant? I've put in loads of hours in Marvel 3 and played against some of the best fighters in my city. Point being is that I have a fair amount of knowledge and experience on the game over the average player who just whines about Sentinel.
Disagreeing with it is fine, just don't tell me it's wrong.
but who is being arrogant?
How do you explain this?

It's just a stupid thing to say. What gives you the right to talk down to someone like that? It comes off as petty and quite sad.

I love how the 'specialist' has Kirby as the avatar...Oh the irony lol. Anywho what is wrong with the game? It is too noob friendly and basically anybody can "fight" just by button smashing -__-.

People being able to button mash isn't a problem. Almost all fighters Have that but I know MVC tends to be more mash friendly than others. The problem comes when someone who is mindlessly smashing buttons can beat someone who knows what they are doing. From what I've seen though that doesn't seem to be happening in mvc3.

relax, my comment was just a little "jab" and "poke" - see what i did there.

i just think it's funny when people post - "this game is garbage anyways" type of comments in a topic that is full of people who clearly like the game to go against the grain and sound all bad ass like. aka trolling for responses - your post has nothing to do with the great deal posted by the op or the quality of the guide mentioned.

i mean what else did you expect? someone to care if you liked the game?

the bottom line is maybe you played the game way too much... hence it might get old fast. that's your bad... but compare it to other fighters out there and i still think it's an enjoyable experience if you are a fan or "experienced player who has played with the best."

and i'll roll my eyes at who i please - - lol
what are you going to do about it?

After about 200 online matches, i can easily say Sentinel isnt as bad as people are making him to be. So far, i think i have only lost to 3. (Two time out'd me, and one just mauled me with X-Factor). His huge size makes him so easy to catch with Combo's that wouldnt connect on other fighters. You just cant let him X-Factor, otherwise hes just a giant spammy target.

If anything, i'd say characters like Dante and Dormammu are more annoying. (Dante because even a noob can do insane damage, and Dormammu for the fact he can completely shut down almost any style of gameplay).

Fyi, this is coming from a Viewtiful Joe/Trish/Zero user. (Though, im using Captain American instead of Zero now)

You still have to have SOME kind of skill to use Dante, or else you'll use terrible attacks for awful situations, since he has so much variety. For example QCF L does Artemis, which isn't exactly the kind of attack which gets an enemy directly out of your face.

It sucks how many people are using him though, I hope it's not just a bunch of kids who found the coolest looking character. I love DMC and, I s**t you not, he's the main reason I bought this game.

I haven't found any good Dormammu's yet, all of his slow attacks take a bit to use, so I can't use him for crap.

I'm getting my ass handed to me so much online.

Right now my teams are: Doom/Magneto/ Iron Man (I don't go in planning to projectile spam players, but if those bastards try MODOK spamming me I have 3 counters for them, and they're pretty good rushers (in particular Magneto), since Doom is so damn slow.

also using Dante/Trish/Doom, another good team.
Now showing $10.99 and expected in-stock on 2/21!
Yeah I just bought it at that price. Expected delivery date 25th of February.

I played a bit over a friends house, never have I seen so many rage quiters, Sentinel is still too strong in this one...

Most characters are ridiculous when you got 5 bars and X factor.

For those that have received theirs from Amazon...Did it arrive in a packing envelope w/packing bubbles or an actual box w/cushion? If it's going to arrive in a packing envelope then I'd rather spend the extra money & get it locally. I had an issue w/Amazon doing this recently w/a collector's edition game & needless to say, some of the corners were bent & beat up on the cardboard cover! And it was in transit for only 1-day!!!

I always have this crap happen when my stuff ships out of Phoenix for some reason, they closed my last account because they said I had too many returns. Well I'm not going to keep a strat guide or book of it's torn and bent to shit, and not keep a collectors edition game if it's in the same condition.

Yup, I agree! That last CE game came from Kentucky I think & it was all beat up on some of the corners so needless to say, I wasn't too happy about that! The sad part is that it was in transit for only 1-day!

LOL, I know right?! Does it cost that much more to wrap the item in air bubble THEN put it in the envelope?!?

Yeah a lot of my stuff is only in transit for a day with prime. Unless the warehouse workers play catch with the CEs..... I don't know how it can come in some crap condition especially if it's a new game that hasn't been sitting in their warehouse that long... o_O

The last thing I got from them wasn't even in a proper box. It was this cardboard flap that had been bent around the item and then tape was wrapped around the whole thing.

The more I'm reading it's happening to others as well & not just an isolated incident w/mine, I'm not too comfy w/their shipping methods for strategy guides. Can anyone confirm how Amazon packs these MvC3 guides?

My strat guides usually come in boxes. Games and smaller books come in crappy bubble mailers.

Does your strategy guides get damaged due to flying around in the box or was there sufficient packing cushion inside the box to avoid damage? Thx!

If it's shipped in a box it's a small thin one maybe a few cm bigger so the strat guide fits in. But it's usually a perfect fit.

I don't have a problem with this packaging. Way better than bubble packaging

I'm a fan of Amazon and had no problem until I started ordering "collectors" items from them, go figure. My last two orders were MvC3 SE and a HDMI cable. The single cable came in two boxes with air pillows surrounding the inner box. Meanwhile, MvC3 was shipped in a bubble envelope and the sleeve was bent and corners were dinged.

Also, not to call you out because you've been friendly and helpful to me, but weren't you laughing at people who cared about not getting GH/Plat editions because it's the game that matters :p

As for the topic, I decided to get this guide after seeing it (self-promoted) on the SRK forums. MvC3 is a fun game but the UI is lacking. Ordered it last Wednesday and will be getting it tomorrow.

Mine was shipped in a big box with plenty of padding. This guide is massive!

Perhaps it's been a long day (less than 2-hours of sleep & had to get up by 6:30am, still at work!) but not sure how you're calling me out here considering this isn't a GH/Platinum edition. It's a Collector's edition that has bonus content which the regular edition doesn't have. Honestly, I could care less about any of the bonus stuff besides the 2 DLC although the steel case's pretty cool. The price I pre-ordered at ($65) is basically the same price as the regular edition price on launch day at most local stores (BB & GS) after tax so I figured might as well get the CE if it's gonna be the same price, LOL!

I see. From your GH-related comments I was under the (wrong) impression that you didn't care about packaging.

All good! :)

My guide arrived from Amazon today, its in very good condition which is a relief to me. Just glancing at it I now realize that my dumbass is never going to be very good at this game haha.

Same here, came in perfect condition.

Mine came today in one of the cardboard wrapper things and the upper corner and spine had some crushing damage. It's not so bad that I'll return it, but those cardboard wrappers definitely suck.
