Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
Find it very hard to believe most stores wont take Brink there sold out in most locations...
Or they have 1 copy left... Perhaps people just saying they wont take it so they can keep abusing while others think they cant take there copies in?
It's been said earlier that all of the games taken in go to a central consolidation center. So looking at local stock doesn't mean anything about how many Brinks they have collectively.

I am not surprised that there could be many hundreds (or couple thousands?) of brinks taken in during the past couple weeks. Just look at the thread not to mention "outsiders".
Welcome to CAG. You're a dumbass.
Weren't you the tard who was mad about microcenters policy not the idiot who abused it? Not sure you're qualified to call anyone names...
Hes the same guy that says his store took in $20000 during the 15 min he was there.. lol
Easily 20 grand... Probably more... One Guy had a 60 inch LG 3d TV in one cart , and a desktop on the underneath rack on his cart , and his son has 2 more desktops in his cart... That was one line in Westmont theres 3 lines... Then 4 more at the front of the store... That one guy easily spent $9000.....
thats kinda impossible for the same guy to be going there daily. judging from their logbook they get about 2-3 people max per day and those guys are really anal about their trades so I doubt the same guy can be going there daily with diff games.
That's what I thought. Seems like only me and a couple other names are even in the log book multiple times (although the activity did pick up in the days leading up to my last trade). Don't know that it's impossible though, only one employee has been anal, the rest have been pretty cool about the whole process.

I'm guessing this guy in particular must go during the day with lots of games so maybe he's just more noticable to the manager? Or maybe he just started going in every day? Dunno really...
Find it very hard to believe most stores wont take Brink there sold out in most locations...
Or they have 1 copy left... Perhaps people just saying they wont take it so they can keep abusing while others think they cant take there copies in?
By all means, try to take in your copies of Brink. Just giving people a head's up that even the cool employees at the Tustin location were no longer able to accept it. Didn't want anyone to get stuck with excess stock if they could avoid it. Could definitely be a YMMV situation though. Good luck with that...

Not saying your lying , just dont think everyone is being totally honest with how many they trade in , etc...
That annoys the shit outta me. There's nothing saying one way or another, but I get refused (and I'm not trading in Brink). Then there are assholes that are still getting away with it.

They need a company-wide policy on what exactly their trade-in program's rules are.
Yeah it just depends on what rep you get basically.. Some workers are cool and others are not so much.. But with more trade in flow going in they are trying to be more strict. I think at my store they are thinking about increasing the trade in's allowed to once a month. Also they have a sign up saying not to accept brink BBY is selling for $5 lol. I was chatting the employee up and they said some guy brought 10-15 copies at once trying to get them all traded in. People that retarded kills it for everyone..

They had a nice price mistake on the Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD + Batman Arkham City (pc) for $229.99 in their ad most likely oos but worth checking my store honored the price.

:wii: De Blob 2 - $12

The dude that took my trades in told me about some Asian dude bringing in duffel bags full of Brink. Store management swiftly swung the ban hammer and stopped taking Brinks in completely.

1. Go into MC with all the Brinks you can get your grubby little hands on
2. Hi my name is John Smith (or in Johnny Nguyen if you are in OC) and I would like to trade all these games in
3. Profit

here's the note
Easily 20 grand... Probably more... One Guy had a 60 inch LG 3d TV in one cart , and a desktop on the underneath rack on his cart , and his son has 2 more desktops in his cart... That was one line in Westmont theres 3 lines... Then 4 more at the front of the store... That one guy easily spent $9000.....
how do u put a 60 in tv on a cart? lol I don't remember seeing any homedepot type cart at Microcenter. Those don't really have "underneath rack"

There carts have the same size wrack underneath as the basket infront....

So the memo is definitely real. Kou did the store limit the trade in to 1 total per visit or is 1 title of several games still permitted?

I don't believe it, must be fake, people in here are lying so they can reap all the profits, etc...

The warehouse have flat beds also

How the hell would they know if you've "used" the game before or not? Just make sure they'll accept the trade and open the "new" game in your car before you walk in.
The warehouse have flatness also
what do u mean?

As for limit, I don't know, i only took in Killzone 3, deadspace 2, and Bulletstorm 1 of each becaues I bought the collector editions of them.

They could have. I worked at MC in the warehouse off Bethel in Ohio. Wasn't terribly often, but there would be $10,000 orders usually something along the lines of a 3k Mac, a 3-4k bigscreen and various other things.

One of the salesmen sold 5 flat screens to 1 guy totaling 7.5k. I never understood why people bought TVs there as they rarely ever had close to the best prices.

customer service? not everyone is price sensitive. Some people enjoy shopping at places where the salesman doesn't tell you that you need monster cables to make hd work.

I agree... I would buy Microcenter over Bestbuy anyday.. Reguardless of price... Because I hate the "Can i help you find something" No thanks... a minute later from another guy working on comission "Can i help you find something... No thanks... Turn around to look at something else Hey sir can I help you find something... Bestbuy is the worst only time I go in there is if Ive ordered it online and its ready to be picked up....

You would love my store. Unless the gaming manager is on duty it's a ghost town on gaming.

Actually Microcenter salesmen work with commission while Best Buy does not. They apply a white sticker on items you intend to purchase with their name and barcode which tracks all that info. I do agree that I'd rather purchase certain items at MC, just not TVs.
I never understood why people bought TVs there as they rarely ever had close to the best prices.
Five years ago, I bought my first HDTV at Microcenter, and they did indeed have the best price at the time, at least amongst brick-and-mortar stores. TVs currently seem to be more of an afterthought at Microcenter then they were a few years ago, I'm not sure they are priced as competitively now as they were then.

Two times ive been in Microcenter ive never been asked if I need any help... Ive been going in bestbuy for 15+ years.... Ive never went in there without getting asked if I need help... If there not paid commission they get a bonus which to me is the same thing...

I believe BB employees are given more hours if they get customers to buy those stupid protection plans and overpriced accessories.

I know for a fact the gaming guys get freebies when they hit various pre-order and trade in numbers.

So lots of people are wondering how much there game value is...
I emailed one of the Leads at microcenter to find out , before I went , which he didnt get back to me intime so i just went anyways but he did eventually get around to me... And seems very nice... So maybe he can give you guys prices on your games , and find out if your store will take brink etc....

[email protected] is his email address....

Right. They may not work on "commission" in the pure sense (so BB can advertise that as a good thing) but they certainly have incentive to sell you stuff, whether it's more hours or spiffs or free crap.

ppl, stop trying to trade Brink, seriously it's done, over, kaput. There are so many other good trades but for some stupid reason your all keep on trying. Bunch of Dumb Asses in my opinion.

They basically compete against each other, they have instore competitions. I personally think helping the guy who helps you is just the right thing to do. Buy the service plan if offered. Be smart !!

not sure where this is coming from, because no one has mentioned bout trading in brink for the last 2 pages. I posted the picture just so someone can put the "scare" theory to rest.

And the flyer was from the Santa Clara, CA store.

The only time I've ever been asked if I needed help at Microcenter was when I entered a dedicated room at the back of the store, like where they have TVs / Apple / Gaming rooms. I could literally wander the main floor area for hours and none of the employees out there would ask if I needed help even if I was staring cluelessly at something while standing right next to them.

I'd imagine the people back in the dedicated areas work on some kind of commission or bonus, particularly the Apple and TV sections, and hence ask to help you, but perhaps the other employees are just paid hourly.

Everyone there has a commission barcode, just most employee's don't care since it takes a lot of sales to get any real turn-out from the commission that it's worth doing(or higher profile items) which is why most people on the floor really don't care but the people in area's that sell $1000 laptops care a bit more about it.
Thats a bad TIV .... get more on ebay friend...
Seeing it sells for $20 on Amazon, I'd rather just take the lazy way ;)

That and I only needed $13 to buy a Corsair water cooling kit.

Hell i bet people bought brink with there credit and tried to trade them in the same day... People are dumb...

Can someone confirm that the Minneapolis, MN store does trade-ins? I went by today to see if they do, but no one could find the gaming person, and they just gave me a deer in headlights look when I asked about it.

Why dont you call and find out? Gunna have to call anyway to see if there systems are down if so you won't be able to trade in , even if they do trade ins....
