Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
On vacation in Dallas, do they take game only trades? Couldn't find it in the op, but I am on my phone so might have missed it. Thanks.
They don't take games without manual and cover art. At least that was their policy before the huge drops in values.

DA is just alluding to the issues we had in the past at MC. There were regs that were going against policy and attempting to trade in multiples from this thread getting so much attention. They nuked the TIVs after and the deals and flips died soon after. Hopefully we all learn from that.

Okay so after my visit today the Santa Clara store has started accepting trade in's after a month of being out due to a computer change. There is no sign in sheet and the employee asks for your name to be entered into the computer. I noticed a small yellow paper behind the counter facing the employee that said "For buybacks look up person's buyback, 'D.B.' limit 1 per title." For privacy reasons on this site I intentionally left out the CAG's full name (initials "D.B."). He knows who he is. The old trade in sign in sheet had about the same 7-9 people on it and I recognized his name on the sheet. So whoever it is you're already on watch. I'm unsure why only his name was specifically spelled out as a note to all employees since it's always the same group of dudes that trade at the SC store. But anyways, D.B. please don't kill it for us. Think long term and let's all share here yo.

I noticed a small yellow paper behind the counter facing the employee that said "For buybacks look up person's buyback, 'D.B.' limit 1 per title." Yes D.B. or otherwise I will use my particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you stop trading in too many games, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kick you in the chin.

Damn, I haven't done a trade in at MC for a while. Just happy I'm not that DB person lol.

All you D.B.'s up there in City Hall,
You're fuckin' it up for the people that's in the streets.
This is a song for the people in the streets,
Not the D.B.s City Hall.
All you motherfuckers in the streets it's time to rise up,
Come along children and fuckin' rise!

Sorry for the bump but dammit, the Santa Clara store closed as of today. No buying, only accepting returns as they clear out. No liquidation sale either. What am I going to do with $200 in credit? Wish they would have given more notice so I could have burned the credit.

Damn that sucks. Thanks for the heads up. Glad I used up all my credit there when I had it.

Can you use credit to buy something online ?

. everytime i traded in at microcenter, i'd buy 1 game and they would give me the difference back in cash regardless of the amount (often >$100). u should see if they'll cash out your store credit for you- night time would be best.

I just got the email today that the santa clara store is closing. I feel kind of sad since they always have the best mobo and cpu combo deals. Apparently they couldn’t negotiate a new lease. I think they are spending the next few months cleaning, packing, shipping inventory out to their other stores. Hopefully they open another location in the bay area in the future, otherwise I would be limited to frys and online for computer parts.

Yeah, I did that for the past couple of trades. However, before I figured this out, I put all of my credit on GCs. Anyhow, I guess it's online for me.

ok, one last bump from me as I think this will help out some.

As I noted earlier, I thought I got stuck with about $300 in gift cards. I tried using it for an online purchase but found out they don't take GCs online...crazy. So I contacted the chat line and they told me that I could got to the store and cash out my GCs at the Santa Clara store (closest location is SoCal).

Went there yesterday and confirmed they got the memo from corporate allowing the cashout, no problem. The cashier was pleasant and I was out in 5 minutes with cash. Hope this helps the Santa Clara crowd holding GCs.

Thanks for the heads up.

I was about to post about noticing how the site didnt accept giftcards. Never seen that before. I assume we can't do anymore trade ins? They probably closed off the floor area I'm guessing.

I asked the question for you on facebook a few days ago and they made the same suggestion.

Glad that worked out for you. Shoot, that's even better than being forced to buy something from there.

I've not been back to the Dallas store in a while; might need to go check it out soon. I like that they at least advertise some decent TIV's still. Shame I don't want to trade in nor do I have any of those games. :p

7/24/12
:360: Assassin's Creed Revelations = $30
:ps3: Harry Potter: Years 5-7 = $20
:360: Resident Evil: Raccoon City = $26 (I think)
:ps3: Resident Evil: Raccoon City = $26 (I think)
:ps3: Resistance 3 = $12
:360: Syndicate = $26

7/21/12
:360: El Shaddai = $14
:360: Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7 = $16
:ps3: Kingdoms of Amalur Reconing = $22
:360: The Darkness II = $22

7/9/12
:vita: Modnation Racers: Road trip = $12
:vita: Mortal Kombat = $17.50
:360: Mass Effect 3 = $28
:360: Ninja Gaiden 3 = $22

time to revive this
Tivs as of yesterday

Mass effect 3 ps3 - 7
Uncharted 3 ps3 - 22

It seems like the MicroCenter on Bethel Rd. in Columbus, Ohio is only carrying 360 stuff. I couldn't find any Sony or Nintendo stuff... new or used.

I can't stand what they've done to that stores gaming section. It was so much better when it was in its own room....shame because I used to find some decent deals in there.

Is Microcenter still taking videogame trades? I was thinking of getting rid of some PS3 games to get a few PC parts that I needed. Are they still giving high value on their trades as they did in the past?
