Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

Just got this from the westmont, il store and it was after I got 441 in store credit they called my name from the intercom and canceled my trade in

Yea the guy they sent back there to help had processed the the trade in I was looking around the store about to purchase something and I here my name on the intercom being called to the customer service.

So I get to the customer service and the manager I guess says that the games I just traded in they wouldn't be able to buy because Microcenter doesnt take multiple copies of games. I was trading in Homefront, La Noire and Enslaved games I had never traded in before buy the way.

Then he goes to tell me I had accumulated a certain amount of trades the previous month and I had traded in brink which they weren't suppose to take but I hadn't traded in a brink since this thread was first posted.

So he goes through my games and says that there are only like 5 games that they can take and that the other trade in would be voided.

wow, he looked up your previous trades to see if there were any doubles?

I don't think my store ever really recorded what I traded in, but nonetheless that sucks.

Yeah that sounds absolutely terrible and quite embarrassing that they actually called you over from the intercom. I was told some more BS today when i tried to trade in games, I had reached my "quota" and couldnt trade in any more games for 3 months..I'm heading over next week again with some friends and have them trade in my stuff the im totally done with microcenter. Why they choose to implement all these restrictions instead of lowering the trade in values is mind boggling to me. Do they really have meetings brainstorming more BS restrictions to implement as I am ecstatic to hear what they come up with next

My guess, they really don't know how to react to someone trading in 28+ copies of the same game to them because it had a really high value to which they lost a good sum of money, so now they are covering all their bases even though it kind of messes up the point of taking trade-ins anyway.

Yeah, but it sounds like they are still offering high values just not letting anyone trade in games. I think lowering the TIVs fixes more than what they are doing (and even if they are going to do crazy restrictions, they should probably lower the TIVs regardless since their TIVs were double-plus ridiculous)
 
What's the Madison Heights store policy looking like now. After the debacle of, "These games look trashed." when they were just opened, I never went back. Backlog is looking expendable, if worthwhile.

Cambridge MA store is not doing any trade-ins for now according to the guy that normally handles my trade ins. He did not specify when they would start taking games in again.

Dallas has no staff there permanently so prepare to wait a long time.

On the other hand, they have used copies for sale of Final Fantasy XIII for 360 for $8.99 not a bad deal.
 
i've done a few trade ins there. a slow process, terrible game selection (they have been out of Battlefield 3 for months) but some good value. i was able to pick up a few games i wanted, a turtle beach headset for my laptop and some additional RAM. overall a great deal, but the store still creeps me out.
 
Just found out today that a CAG's woman traded 20x, 30x of Brink and most of the BBV 5/30. Ur silent and deadly. Thank to you, the CO loc will only accept 1x game per person when they took 2x before. They told me alot of xit about u and how they flagged u too late. No wonder the guy who help me was all pissy when he was nice before.

This is what happens when trade values are widely advertised and people figure out where they can get them super cheap from. Some folks go nuts and ruin it for others. I'm not gonna mention any names, but the one shitwad on here who traded in 25 or more copies of Kinect Adventures to Blockbuster and caused them to completely remove the listing from their system comes to mind.:roll:

But honestly, the fault lies with the idiots at the store, who apparently didn't recognize the many disguises of this woman, because she surely didn't trade them all in a single occurrence. But don't feel bad my store no longer takes any trades, I was left holding about 15 Gamefly games which cost me about 200$ in profits and I actually ended up loosing money on a few items. Even GS's +50% bonuses couldn't bring them back into the realm of profitable :(

I think I will need to stop by tonight and pick up some points as I'm out, nothing else worth buying as they really do not have any decent prices on anything other than computer stuff, and they don't price match so their xbox game prices are completely out of wack.
 
does anyone know if the westbury store has started doing trade ins again? It really is a 45 minute drive and they never pick up the phone so if you have any idea please let me know.
 
Hm... Can the trade-in credit only be used on gaming items? And what's the easiest way to cash it out? My store really doesn't have anything I'm interested in and I won't be building a new computer anytime soon either.

no it can be used on anything. its just store credit. i've gotten enough that i bought a little of everything. their game selection sucked at my store, so i did a lot of random stuff, like X12's, logitech ps3 adapter, some ram. all works

I traded in 360 saints row third $30 360 marvel super hero squad comic combat $15 ps3 red river and got $28 ps3 thor $25 wii wwe smackdown 11 $20 360 LA Noire $10 360 enslaved $16 360 2 worlds 2 $23 360 DNF $4.50 they told me the ps3 version was a lot higher on that. This was Monday

I received a questionnaire last week that implied MC was looking to expand it's gaming department. I panned them royally, pointing broadly to how poorly their trade in program was being run. Stupid MC.

I was gonna trade in a few crappy games to possibly afford SF x Tekken AND ME3, instead of just 1 as I planned....Anyone know how much Far Cry 2, Hunted: The Demon's Forge, Mindjack, Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, and Frontlines: Fuel of war would be worth? All on 360.

Minjack and Hunted were 25 just a few months ago. I'm not expecting that much but even half that would be completely amazing. Also considering trading in Saints Row 3 for 30, since I probably won't want to play it again until the price drops below that...

the other games will probably just get you a $2-4 trade in. Mindjack probably held as with Hunted.

Yes, the thread is up and running again. I say call because sometimes their computer would be messed up and can't do trade ins and they will send you away, thus wasting gas and time, and it's also better to confirm the value too, they can easily look it up. However getting through on the phone is a completely different story....And I just recently cashed in on a new Acer Laptop, bunch of bawls and junk food, and a pair of beats solo among numerous other things...I love microcenter

Xbox 360. Also, I asked how much Hunted was worth and they said only 7.50 or so.
