In fairness, some of those (including Breath of the Wild) will be the same price for digital codes at at least one of those stores. So they could very easily show up on the eShop for the same price, and even if they don't, you could just buy the code.
I wasn't suggesting there was no chance they'd go on sale on the eShop, but just pointing out that the games on that page are listed for retail BF sales and not the eShop.

Ring Fit Update:

I've been using this thing for a month now. On average I use it about every other day. I think I'm around Level 65 and maybe on World 9? There is a lot of content in this game. Now, I don't own a scale and have never been one to track my weight so I can't provide that info, but this game is EFFECTIVE. My jeans feel looser, I've lost nearly all the softness/flab around my waist, my arms and legs are noticeably more toned and I just feel better. I feel like doing this for one month has been better for me than an entire summer of running 15 kilometers per week. Even my posture feels improved. I highly recommend it if you're even remotely interested in becoming more active and have difficulty staying motivated. I really hope we get some DLC or another game for the peripheral at some point because it is great.

Any fitness program you actually stick to is effective no matter what it is. Zumba, CrossFit, pilates, etc will help you lose weight if you stick to it.

Not surprised that Ring Fit is more effective at losing weight than all of the running you did. From all I've read and seen on Ring Fit it's a bunch of calisthenics and squats. Most research has shown that calisthenics and other short high effort fitness regimens are more effective than running.

I'm planning to buy the Ring Fit for my son to play with. He hates working out and has put on some weight. He loved the trailers for Ring Fit that I've shown him though.

Everything I've read or heard about Ring Fit has been positive. I'm glad it's working out for people and that they will be healthier as a result.

This.

And trust me, the miles add up...

Not bashing running, but it can really tear up the body.

That's because running is just cardio and works legs mainly. It's also brutal on them, so I don't partake. Ended up ordering one today for a Christmas present; don't tell the GF. :whistle2:$

As someone who does stay somewhat fit, I can definitely endorse Ring Fit. You aren't gonna get swoll or anything from using it, but it can definitely help get your heart rate up and help motivate you to do some resistance activities. For most people stuff like squatting your body weight is plenty enough to get you feeling like you worked out.

Running is good for cardiovascular health but not so much as a workout. Elevating your heart rate through resistance activities will get you closer to the look you want (and eating better #1). Would recommend grabbing a set of dumbbells (go heavy) at some point and just following some basic online plan.

In more Nintendo related news - I figured out how to load my Japanese switch account via my JPN 3ds and picked up Choju Giga Wars (100 YEN!) and the Gotta Protectors game. Both look super weird.

I thought I had a pretty good handle on the Ring Fit exercises.  Even squats weren't too hard for me.

Then I tried planks for the first time last night.  Turns out I was wrong.

All the 1-month-later impressions I’ve been seeing about Ring Fit Adventure really make me want to try it, seems like something I’d pick up as a habit.

the messenger appeared BUT AT A HIGH PRICE (compared to Steam in AR... so, thanks to all like always )
Nah, that just looks like console tax, and it’s still cheaper than MSRP too (~$15).

I should get around to updating that thread...

Thanks. The weather here has been too good so I've been walking 3 miles every day during my lunch. Once my son is finished with Pokemon and as the weather turns I'll get back into RFA myself as I really enjoyed what I've played so far and definitely see the benefits. The thing I like about it most is that it's intelligently guided exercise rather than me trying to figure out what to do and be motivated to do enough to make a difference. The way it measures your effort and pushes you makes it in many ways better than a personal trainer.

not for AR EX-normal prices for indie games... since the blowout in sales in the past months

Nintendo Europe sent out the full list of their Cyber Deals sale, starts tomorrow:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/11/over_150_switch_games_discounted_in_nintendo_cyber_deals_sale_europe

Edit: Nintendo of America sent out an email containing crickets.wav
I'm just hoping for the NA eShop a good discount on Cadence of Hyrule, TBH.

Or Marble It Up.

Or Untitled Goose Game.

Or any of the Nintendo Arcade Archives titles.

The bottom line is that I'm prepared to be disappointed.

Its pretty much been proven that running doesn't contribute to weight loss, and it actually wears out your back and legs more as you get older.

Interesting to see so many people taking digs at running. I’m getting more out of the Ring Fit but there’s no doubt that after 6 months of running on a consistent basis I was feeling better than I had in years. Stick to the appropriate surfaces, pay attention to your form, get the right shoes, and don’t skimp on stretching and it’s not going to destroy you. I can’t speak to what happens to your body when you run marathons but running a few miles 2-3 times per week shouldn’t be something to be afraid of.

That said, I don’t think running is for everyone and it’s definitely not a good place to start for folks who are simply trying to get their bodies in shape. The Ring Fit exercises are much better for that, and more importantly, they help with motivation. Staying motivated to exercise on a regular basis and push yourself when you are exercising is the hardest part of staying active, in my opinion. The Ring Fit exercises are nothing new but I think the way they present them is nothing short of a miracle in that it makes me feel like I’m still having fun even when I’m 45-minutes into a workout, covered in sweat, and smell like moldy laundry. Can’t recommend it enough.

Are the officially licensed Nintendo Micro SD cards any better than a regular Sandisk Micro SD card for the Switch?
Actually the 128 GB Nintendo Switch card when it came out was one of the best cards to get. You have to make sure to get a real one though.

It's a U3, V30-class card and when it came out it was tested and has some of the best speed ratings on the market. I don't know what has come out in the last year to beat it though.

Hoping NBA2k20 is on sale on the eshop, I don’t want to buy it on GameStop.com and then have to wait ages for the code to be emailed.

Only better at draining your wallet.

Edit: I bought this card earlier in the year for my Switch and it works great: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was a little cheaper at the time because of a Prime Day sale, but even now it's a great price per GB, especially compared to the SD cards where you pay extra just to have a little Nintendo design on the card: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-256gb-microsdxc-memory-card-for-nintendo-switch/6350363.p?skuId=6350363

And that card is only 256 GB for $70, compared to 400 GB for $53. Those cards have the same read speed. The Nintendo card might beat it in write speed because I can't find the speed for the other card right now, but even then I don't think it'd be worth it.

Comparing microSD cards requires looking at their read/write speed ratings as well as their class.

The switch reads at up to 95MB/s... so buying cards over 100MB/s in read/write speed is pointless unless the newer switch or switch lite can handle higher read/write speeds.

I currently have a U1 (class 10) Sandisk 128gb micro sd xc card with a 100mb read/write that's $20.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JYC4XM

It's essentially the same as the red Sandisk 128gb cards that are nintendo branded and $5.xx more expensive:

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDXC-Nintendo-Switch-SDSQXAO-128G-GNCZN/dp/B07KXQX3S3

Don't buy anything that's got a lower speed rating than these cards. You will eventually get errors.

So exactly 100MB/s is the only option? I've been using a 80MB/s card (SanDisk Ultra PLUS) for about a year with no problems.

Not exactly, 100MB/s is the max you should purchase since the Switch can't read/write above 95MB/s and it's a waste of money. So extra speed isn't useful unless this changed with the updated Switch or Switch Lite to read/write faster. 80MB/s should be fine, the minimum recommended is 65MB/s read/write I believe. For those just now getting a system I'd highly recommend to go straight to the 100MB/s cards. Also double check the speeds as sometimes they can write much slower than they read. Both should be in the 90->100MB/s range for optimal performance.

My initial card corrupted and i could no longer write to it or delete after about a year and a few months. It was the cheaper Sandisk line that read at decent speed but the write was lower than 65MB/s. I think it was an SD HC card and not an XC, but it was a Class 10 card. Lesson learned the hard way. Definitely aim for an XC. And don't just see Class 10 and think it's fine as that only guarantees a minimum of 10MB/s. It can (and likely will) be more, but digging into the actual stats of the card will be helpful.

Re: Ring Fit

Picked it up two weeks ago, and jeebus.  I thought I was going to die after the first two days (because I'm in lackluster shape and probably went too long), but it was fun and effective.  Prior to that I had been playing Fitness Boxing for a couple of months, but it's... dull?  And frustrating, because the Switch was losing track of the right joycon so it wasn't registering punches.

I was surprised at the amount of "Jog In Place" I had to do, which is rough because... well, because genetics.  My joints are hypermobile, including my kneecaps, so any kind of running is more likely to cause pain/discomfort/injury.  But getting into the battles was a great time, and the variety kept me engaged while getting my heart rate where it needed to be.

10/10 would recommend.

The more I hear about Ring Fit the more I know I should just try it. I'm just barely getting back into my exercise routine (off a month...ugg not a good previous month) and would like more things I could do at the house. Mainly do basic stuff like Yoga poses, push ups/sit ups and like different types of lunges and lifts and such. Could be fun for some variety.
