I contemplated keeping my Vita a few year back just in case it got properly hacked. And I’d be doing it almost exclusively to play Star Ocean 2, the PS1 version not the PSP remake.

Yeah, that price is killer, and I've been debating grabbing one all morning. I'm looking to hack my Vita real soon, and this would be perfect for that endeavor. If I check back later and they still have stock, I'll probably bite, as that will give me a reason to finally get this done. If not, I'll just wait on the next decent discount, but this is probably as good as it will be for awhile.
Vita memory is a proprietary format, not microSD. Though I haven’t been following the Vita hack scene, so my apologies if they’re using flash carts that utilize microSD for storage.

Do I need to do anything special when swapping out my switch's micro sd card, or do I just pop a new one in and redownload all my games?

Bonus if you have the 3G model. Why are we talking about it in the Nintendo thread though?

Because I mentioned earlier that Amazon has its best price ever for SanDisk 400GB microSD card, and then someone off-handedly said that would be good for their Vita once they hacked it. I was confused by that, hence it devolving for a few posts about Vita hacking. On the scale of a CAG thread going off-topic, this was not bad at all.

Yes, the Mac filesystem and Switch filesystem don't play well together. (Even though you can transfer a 3DS microSD just fine via Mac.)

Thanks. The transfer between cards was incredibly slow anyway, I might as well just leave my switch connected to ethernet on all night.

I have a feeling this new Pokémon game will coincide with the announcement/release of the switch mini later on this year.

This is what I did. It was going to take over a day to transfer so I just left it to download overnight. Just make sure you transfer any photos or videos you have saved on the old card.

Did anyone feel underwhelmed with the Nintendo demos of upcoming mega titles (IP) like Yoshi and Daemon x machina....

I think Yoshi looks like a $39.99 captain toad type side game, not a major title like Mario bros

Daemon was pretty cool, but i think it needs a lot more work, and i hope they develop what they let us try more

I’m thinking canceling my Yoshi preorder ....I’m definitely keeping Luigi Mansion 3 and Metroid because i want the cartridges and cases for those super mega Nintendo titles, but i think Yoshi and Machina are getting the pre order axe and ill buy them during BF or digital sales on eshop, actually maybe i should just do that....

Who else had a change of heart re any of these games?>

I didn't play the Yoshi one so I can't comment, but the Daemon was specifically designed to get feedback from players and it is a 6 month old version. Similar to what was played at e3 last year. They even said it wasn't a demo but a prototype and that they were sending surveys to players to get feedback.

Like I wouldn't make any determination on that game based on that prototype. Also, I think if you don't like Armored Core style games you won't like that final product anyway. It is a very specific style of Mech game and they have some unique ideas and if they can make some more tweaks over the next 6 months I think they can have a solid product.

I honestly think that by now you would know if you like Yoshi games. The developer hasn't fundamentally changed them much in the past couple of games. They're pretty simple platformers with some hidden stuff and a lot of charm. I would never consider those games tentpole or mega titles at all though. Yoshi has almost always been handled by a contract studio and has always felt second tier. Daemon is definitely a contract studio and based on Armored Core it is going to end up a B+ game or better depending on how much you like Mecha.

Just to add a side point to the demo convo.. You do have to take into account that there are a LOT of new Nintendo players out there.

Before the Switch, I had a NES and SNES, picked up a new 3DS about the time the Switch was announced but have rarely played it... Between the SNES days and the Switch, it's all foreign to me. So i'm 10000000000% behind all the demo's they can make.

(FYI I went from SNES to full Playstation, then Xbox till the 360, then back to PS until I picked up the Switch and Xbox 1X)

I agree!

Also, the release environment of Yoshi's Crafted World seems to mirror the environment Yoshi's Story released in 21 years ago in March 1998. Check out this review from 1998 below. I'm 90% sure the review below will echo the opinion of the current game reviewers in a few weeks for this new Switch game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VMIpTKiYes

Also, if you remember, 1998 had a HUGE gap between first party Nintendo releases. But the wait was worth it because 1998 ended strong with the releases of games like Star Wars: Rouge Squadron, Banjo-Kazooie, Zelda 64, Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for GameBoy Color, and the first USA release of Pokemon Red and Blue! I think 2019 will end VERY strongly with what has been announced so far, along with many new players picking up a Switch and getting all the "old" titles for the Switch.

Daemon is definitely a contract studio and based on Armored Core it is going to end up a B+ game or better depending on how much you like Mecha.
ive always been kinda into mech, but since Krazy Ivan i vent found one ive loved....

Anyway, i know to give them a chance and time...and I’d be willing to offer feedback and help to dev

Actually i wanna support daemon x more than any other game out there because it is SO METAL!!!! I Love it

So its a “shooter”(mech) with metal soundtrack and metal vibes all over so I’m into it

I just really wanna know if i should keep or cancel Yoshi.

ANYONE ELSE DEMO YOSHI ??? What’s your thoughts: is it a pre order/sale buy, or a BF only buy

Thx

I thought Yoshi seemed fun but I couldn’t see playing it for a very long time. Seems like once you’ve experienced it then it’s just a collect-a-thon in each level.

I had fun playing the yoshi demo with my kids, but even then I dont think its a day one buy. I'll definitely get it down the road when it's $45 or so though.

Well, I'm always a sucker for Yoshi, so it's a day one purchase for me, also, I'm trading my copy of Mario and rabbids, and replacing it with digital

It just doesnt feel fully fleshed out the way Mario bros usually does....i hope maybe thats just that one level and I’m wrong.... but well see, maybe not day 1

What the hell? Nintendo won't let you buy stuff digitally unless you have a console linked to your account? I plan on getting a Switch when Animal Crossing comes out (hoping they'll do a custom Switch bundle with it), but I would have happily forked over money for some of these sale prices in advance.

Yep. Hope for a sale on amazon or somewhere else so you can get a code.

The Switch is the only console I WOULDNT wait/care for a sale for...Truly.

{LONG WINDED BACKGROUND U CAN SKIP, but for context: Like looking back, I could’ve waited buying my ps2 (anyone remember that shit!? Pre CAG? When you had to HACK to get shit? I had to decompile and code an auto logger to get amazon.com’s insane grabs of ps2), I could’ve waited for the ps3, (I’m excluding PSX because i was in fourth grade and it started it all, so I NEEDED a PlayStation however i could get it, and my father finally got me one when my mom said no...thanks dad!! Lol) and I definitely could’ve waited for ps4, what a waste that was..... \}

but looking over all that...the only console i could say I’d pay full price is the switch - and oddly enough, because it came out on my birthday in 2017 i got it 10% off at launch, so long live Nintendo!

It's been this way with every system they've released that has a digital store. Many of these games regularly are on sale and the prices keep coming down... so it'll likely work out in your favor to not buy the games until you own the system since you can't play them now anyway.

Yoshi (and Kirby for that matter) are geared towards younger kids. They aren't your hardcore serious platforming games. Yoshi's Crafted World is essentially the same as Yoshi's Woolly World just with a new aesthetic and the ability to run courses in reverse which shines a new perspective on each level. It's B'grade ... or even C'grade collect-a-thon gaming. The polish is there but don't expect these games to match up the experience the typical Mario game would.

I found the demo casually fun to play (like Woolly World was) but not worth preordering. I can find enjoyment in a good collect-a-thon so in that regard it's a plus for the game. If it's on sale later (like BF) for around $35... I very well might buy it. As is, it's an easy pass when I look at what I'm legit excited to preorder.

My preorder list right now:

  • Astral Chain - exploration, action, and it looks beautiful... I was sold on this by the one video alone.. it reminded me a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.. and I love that game. I have no love or hate for Platinum... this is the first game they've made where I've been genuinely hyped to buy it.
  • Bloodstained Ritual of the Night - I was worried early on as it looked like generic garbage but the latest videos have eased my mind that this will have enough Castlevania inspiration to satisfy my craving for those games.
  • Cytus Alpha - IMO the best rhythm game ever comes to Switch with extra music and other content... I'm there...
  • Dragon Quest XI S - DQ is my favorite turn based RPG series of all time... I waited for this version as I prefer DQ games on Nintendo handheld systems... I'm very excited for this release
  • Dragon Quest Builders 2 - the first one was a fantastic DQ meets Minecraft mashup... given my love for DQ and Minecraft this was an automatic preorder.
  • Metroid Prime 4 - Preordered it back when there was a prime discount. Since the prime discount stuck (even after cancelling) on my copy of Tales of Vesperia, I'm keeping this preorder until I know more about the game and if I'm really still interested in the Metroid series.
  • Super Mario Maker 2 - For my kids... I'm sure I'll enjoy it too.. but I'm buying it mainly for them.

I may preorder Daemon X Machina... I just need to see more video of it. The demo was a nice blend of Mech's and Attack on Titan.

Rank the game among your other preorders... if you aren't hyped to play it then pass up preordering. It's really not that complex.

I like the casual platformers sometimes such as Kirby Robobot (very good game IMHO) and Yoshi's New Island (Average). It's cool to play a few levels when I have the time. I need to give the demo a try but will likely get it and Kirby (same day I think...) since I do enjoy those platformers.

For one i'm not enjoying it's Mutant Mudds. This feels tedious and i'm already tired of collecting these random objects to get the number for each level. Did about 5 and I was tapped out. Not a game for me.

I try not to download demos often with a capped internet download. I probably should try Yoshi, though it looks cute and nice honestly. As long as it's better than Yoshi's New Island I'll be good. Just really didn't care for that one much.

Kirby on the Switch was TOO easy for me.  I ended up selling it quickly.  It was like nearly impossible to die in that game and it was just too easy that it bored me to death.

I didn't get that feeling from the Yoshi demo and felt it was more clever than Kirby by far too.  It wasn't so easy where you could close your eyes, hold forward, and beat the game like Kirby was.  Granted, it was only the demo, but it made me itch to play more.  I preordered Yoshi a while ago and will be getting it at launch.

Even the collectibles in Kirby weren't a challenge at all to get.  The hardest collectibles to find were right in your face obvious to get.  Just absolutely no challenge.

It really annoys me that there is another sale on Mario + Rabbids and they do not include the season pass in the sale.

I don't understand why they can't put the season pass on sale.

I mean you say that about almost all first party nintendo games.
You could say that, I wouldn't. Super Mario Odyssey was immensely more complex than any Kirby or Yoshi game and easily more complex and polished than any third party platformer on any other system. It is the pinnacle of it's genre as the Super Mario games tend to be. I felt the same about LoZ Breath of the Wild too. Pinnacle of it's genre. Oh and Xenoblade Chronicles 2... my gosh that game was fantastic.

The thing with many of the bigger Nintendo first party games is they are designed to both be extra challenging for serious players and still allow less experienced people have fun.

XC2 isn't first party, but yeah I agree with that and Zelda.

With Odyssey you are comparing a 3D game to side scrolling games so it has a bit of advantage. And even still, there are actually more complex side scrolling platformers than Odyssey, for example Celeste. But I guess that is also my opinion, as I can see someone make the argument that Odyssey is more complex as there are more buttons to press to get to certain spots on the map.

Why isn't Xenoblade Chronicles 2 first-party when Nintendo owns the developers?
