I'm probably gonna double dip and buy earthlock again to play on the go/at work. I only paid $5 for it on steam back when it was the festival of magic version. And I still have some credit from the $35 promo.
 
All of this I Am Setsuna talk reminds me of when Black Sigil came out on the DS and everyone was like it's like Chrono Trigger and was popularized at the time. It's faded into obscurity and most people see the flaws now, but at the time I just remember hearing about it. I still need to play I Am Setsuna myself.

Yeah I remember the love for Black Sigil. The DS had a lot of hidden gems like that which just got way too much attention and blown out of proportion. When I got my copy of The Dark Spire, prices got so out of hand that I opted just to sell it on because I was only marginally interested in the genre.

I haven't tried I Am Setsuna, but the spiritual sequel Lost Sphear has a demo. It bored me to tears. It just wasn't for me and made it clear that I Am Setsuna is probably not for me either.

I mean... I absolutely love Chrono Trigger, it's one of my all time favorite games. And I thought Setsuna was a bland and boring exercise. Really the only thing that felt similar to me was the combat, and even that outstayed it's welcome.

Honestly, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had never been mentioned in the same vein as CT. But because I went into it with that comparison at the forefront, everything about the game felt subpar and lackluster.

And then, my brief moment of true nostalgia at finding specific weapons was ruined because I went from "Oh that's a nice reference" to "...I could be playing a much better game" in the span of about 5 seconds.

I actually thought Lost Sphear was better than Setsuna... but still very blah. I was bored by the demo, but thought it may just be a slow build story.

I should have just assumed it would stay boring.

I know production-wise and what went into it would price it to that amount. But I truly don't think I'd buy it again for anything, personally.

 
I picked up Baba Is You yesterday and I'm having a blast with it. Completely different kind of puzzle game unlike anything I've played before. I've put a little more than two hours into it and I've done 26 out of 200 levels. Well worth $15 if you're looking for a unique puzzle experience. The trailer does a way better job of explaining the game than I can, but you essentially move around the "rules" of the game to create new rules to complete puzzles.

Setsuna is not worth it at all.

I absolutely loved Setsuna and didn't like Lost Sphear all that much - the story of Setsuna hooked me quite a bit.

It's pretty good. It's definitely more of a puzzle game than a golf game, but I like the presentation. I think I'll finish the game in probably like 2 hours or so. I am nearly 1/2 through and played for like 30 minutes, but the past few levels definitely took more time to figure out than the first ones. And there is absolutely no replay value at all. But I mean the game is $5 and makes me think so I'm fine with the length. I do really like the presentation and sound. It's very polished and has very fitting music.

Right after it came out I saw a lot of praise, which is why I bought it. I think most of the mentions I see now are that it's just "meh".

To each their own, though. I also didn't like Cosmic Star Heroine, and apparently people love that game.

I picked up that Baba Is You game after being interested and hearing good things about it (some from in here) and I have to say, the game is very clever and interesting.  It also got a lot harder a lot quicker than I would have expected it to lol.  Great puzzle game though.  I can't imagine how tough the final level in this game is.

It just depends how frustrated you get I guess. I am one of those people who will never look online for help on things and would rather spend 10 hours figuring it out myself lol. I'm an engineer though so it's in my blood to problem solve.

I've played Baba is You for 4 hours and 20 minutes and I have completed 34 of the puzzles.  It's crazy how tricky some of them are and how they stump me.  There are some I've played for like 15-20 minutes and haven't figured out yet.  Some of these are no joke.

Nintendo's typical sale discounts are usually 30-40%, so 20% off two months after they had it for 30% off is pretty weak. If you can wait, it's best to do so, but with the way Nintendo puts their games on sale, it might be 2020 before it goes on sale again.

It hasn't been patched. I didn't notice any specific performance issues with it, though it is kind of janky all around. Either you find that part of the charm or you don't.

I'm not really interested in the Arcade classics and can probably pass on the contra stuff... but Castlevania is my weakness.  It sucks they don't list but a few games and have the rest of them question marked.  It better have Simon's Quest on there.  It's also odd they skipped the first GB CV game and went straight to the second.  If they round out the collection a bit more... I'll get it.  I wouldn't mind seeing the MSX version of the first game on there (Vampire Killer)... just because of how good it is with the no-scrolling Pitfall 2 level structure and exploration.

I am willing to bet if it sells well, they do second collection to round out the whole list. Kinda like what capcom did with mega man
