Tried to play some Shovel Knight on 3DS last night after updating everything.  I didn't enjoy it much the first time around but didn't try the other characters.  Gave the game a fair shake and .... I kind of don't enjoy it despite it ticking a ton of boxes.  Wanted to be sure though as a lot of places have the switch physical for $30 right now (BB/Target & B&M Walmart has it for a couple bucks more) and I was thinking of getting it before the physical disappears.  So, yeah, tmi, but wanted to at least detail the physical is disappearing and the sales.

Beat it. Not super long but one of my favorite RPG fighting systems in a while. Grind for upgrading cards becomes ridiculous so only do the ones you use often. Not the best story, but I had a lot of fun with it and recommend it.

 
Does anyone own the game Reventure?  I need to find the sword at the beginning to start the journey.  I already have the shield, but after talking to the king in the castle, I still don't have the damn sword.  Thank you to anyone who can provide a helpful answer to this question.

Can folks confirm that Switch save games are compatible with digital and physical versions of games? I assume so but wanted to ask before I buy a cheap copy for digital.

I have also not encountered any issue in the past. I would expect that every game should work fine, but I suppose there could be a possibility of an incompatibility if a dev did something weird and made their digital and physical version different. Hopefully Nintendo has a policy for that not to be the case, since every game (with a couple exceptions) are sold on the eShop. Would make patching easier if both version are identical, too.

 
Grabbed Doom 1-3 for $6 total. My brother got them as well. We grew up playing 1 and 2 (along with Duke Nukem 3D, which is rumored to be coming to Switch). Doom sale ends tomorrow.

The vast majority are, but there are a few games where you can't use the same files between digital and physical. It's best to look up the game in question ahead of time to make sure it isn't one of them.

Thanks for the reminder I grabbed Doom 1 and 2 with gold coins and paid for Doom 3 with money in my account.

So now I have Doom 1-3 and Doom 2016 (Physical) on Switch.

 
Yeah I planned on grabbing them.. got distracted last night trying to decide if I just buy $10 credit on the switch or look for a deal on a $20 eshop card, no credit left and not enough coins for any of them.

Cheap digital game recommendations ($0.99 or under):

The Sabatour / The Sabatour II; for $0.05 each.  The first game is the old school original that's been expanded with new levels and features.  It's not an easy game at all and despite it's difficulty I found it fun to try and clear the levels.  The second one is like the first with the original content in tact but then expanded on.  They handled these games much like how Donkey Kong GB has new levels and it really makes the games so much more (and better) than their originals.

Mad Age & This Guy is a very solid bomberman type game mixed with games that let you push boxes around (think Chips Challenge).  The game expands the deeper into it with new robots and world themes and it's worth the couple cents it's going for.  I actually enjoyed this more than Super Bomberman R and completely finished every level and objective Mad Age & This Guy offered.

Earthworms, also cheap, has a demo so try it yourself. It's a pretty straight forward point and click adventure type game.    I can't see the price but it's $0.29 or less.

Mecho Wars Destert Ashes & War Theater $0.49 (each I think, bought em both so can't see prices) are rips on the classic Advance Wars formula.  Don't be fooled by the other games this dev has put out, these are both solid for their take on Advance Wars.  War Theater is the newer game but Mecho Wars has been around for a long time now and this is the definitive version of that game.

Nothing else $0.99 or less I would recommend checking out right now.

 
Anyone know of any switch console deals? I have a lite but want to upgrade/add a full switch to the household. Best deal I can find is the 5% with my target redcard, which is pretty weak. I wish there were eBay digital gift cards for GameStop or Best buy but I think it'll be a while before they are back.

I clearly should have jumped in the car when the Sam's deal was announced but it's too late now.

I don't think many places will be putting it on sale with stock already drying up thanks to coronavirus and Animal Crossing coming out next week.

If anything I expect Swtich systems to become much harder to get.  Even with Nintendo moving manufacturing (to some degree, not sure how much) to Vietnam... I'd imagine some components still come from china and a lot of manufacturing has shut down.

Yeah. I was hopeful that non AC units might get discounted, but there's so little supply of them that it's not like there will be a surplus of regular units...
 
Today i bit on the animal crossing euro only deal on cdkeys for $48. It looks like it will be able to be played on release day

I’ll heartily second both these recs. Amazing how well Saboteur holds up. It’s still very much a product of its time, but the actual design remains a lot of fun. If anything, it’s worth checking out for most Americans, just to get a cool history lesson on what was hot in the UK while we were all playing NES.

Mad Age is impressively polished, audio-visual wise: lovely sprite work and animation. Clearly a lot of effort went into the game, and if you have any fond memories of playing this kind of top-down puzzler in the past, this is one of the best modern renditions I’ve seen at any price.

Ziggurat I played on PC. Honestly it's kind of cool for a few playthroughs but gets pretty repetitive. It's a FPS arena shooter and you get random weapons and skills and such. You try to reach the end of the level and after a few I believe there is a big boss. You go until you die which helps unlock stuff for future runs. I like it enough, but I  feel maybe 75% off or close to that is the right price. Not sure of the Switch port though, but I would bet it controls better on PC.

Bleed 1/2 I played on PC and are shorter games. I enjoyed these a good amount and feel they provide good 2D shooting gameplay while they last. They are more for speed running/score attacks because the levels go by fast. There is a slowdown feature to help with the shooting. Pretty fun overall and I'm guessing they'll play fine on Switch.

The Bleed games are very fun but both titles are super short. For the current sales price I’d say for the bundle that for sure is worth it, though.

My store is getting 10 extras on top of the preorders. I would expect there to be a line on Friday morning.

 
Does anyone know if New Super Mario Brothers U for Switch will be discounted on the eshop for Mar1o day?

I never buy games digitally that are available physically.

I made an exception for Animal Crossing and have predownloaded.

I have the day of release off from work. CAN'T. WAIT. :bouncy:
