By the way, supposedly Project Triforce is looking to "rectify" the situation and is suggesting people w/ broken stuff (or whatever other issues) to email [email protected] .

I get that the company normally gets $600-$1000 for their replica items, but damn, I would've thought $100 could at least afford some pewter or something

The only reason I knew it had broken parts was because I was able to open it since it isn't sealed. It's not like I did it and knew before hand.

Although, in a situation where an item arrived damaged, I would hope the buyer would contact me first to arrange a return, because filing claims give you a knock on your defect rate, when it may be the carrier's fault and not the seller for damaged items.
I would have just returned to Gamestop if I were you. If you get an angel buyer then you make some money, if the buyer gets neutral and wants a return then you have to pay their return shipping, plus you lose your original shipping fee to them. If the buyer is a scumbag (which is a fast growing portion of eBay buyers), a claim would be filed, you would not only need to pay for shipping but also get left with a negative feedback, which amounts to loosing money for your future sales. Plus you gotta remember they have up to a month to file the claim, even if they have already left positive feedback. All this worry just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather not make the money and gain a peace of mind.

I got my Inquisitor's today and I sold it as a pre-order on ebay a couple days ago. Put in the listing that since this is a pre-order I can't guarantee pristine condition of the item since it isn't in-hand and it's sold as-is, so if you are particular about condition, then wait until I receive it so I can update the listing. Someone bought it anyway.

Anyway, I got it today and since it isn't sealed I opened it up out of curiosity to see what the condition is like since people are saying theirs are damaged and just like my friend, two of the pieces inside are broken. One's wing is snapped off, and the lion's "crown" thing or whatever is snapped off.

Chances the person files a claim when they get it?
This is why I never do "pre-order" sales on Ebay(I only list once I have in hand and can list the actual product), as I never know if the items will arrive, or of the condition they may arrive in. It's just not worth the early pre sale pricing, when most places send collectibles in such crap ass ways.

I would return it, if the eBay buyer receives it with things rattling and/or broken and files a claim, you would have hell to go through.
That's what I'm going to do. I started seeing pictures and videos of the piece that goes in the lions mouth and didn't remember seeing it, so I opened it up again this morning and found it in 2 pieces. The bad thing is the bar that insert in to the mouth was missing (so 3 pieces), so I can't even put it back together.

Not to sound like a pompous asshole but considering the condition of the Dragon age inquisition inquisitors edition I think its kind of messed up people selling it on ebay...I get trying to make money and all that but I wouldn't risk my name for $50, which is why I returnreturned mine. Also if alot of people return these due to damage it might make companies think twice about selling us plastic junk (wishful thinking I know). For those who sold preordered copies I can understand because you obviously had/have no clue what condition it's in but if you bought a copy and are selling it now because its in bad condition thats just messed up I don't care if you do make $50 off it. I'm really bitter that this CE was so poorly done and believe me I wanted some compensation for my disappointment but thats no reason for me to screw someone else over. Just my opinion (gasp) take it for what you will.

I'm not too familiar with collector editions outside of this year. Is this the worst disappointment ever? How high on a scale of 1-10 is the Dragon Age CE rated in terms of bad quality and/or hype? To me it's straight up unacceptable that no accountability will be taken in relation to pieces being broken and items flying everywhere. I'm reading comments on reddit and most of them seem to be okay with this. "Oh don't worry guys, I can glue them together. No biggie!" o__o what.

As the one guy said make sure you message the buyer before selling it.

I'd give it a 4/10. It was a weak LE to begin with, but I get the vibe they were going for. The price was too much and the quality was poor. It was the scarcity that made me jump at the chance to get it once they went live again a month ago.

It seems pretty crappy, at least from what limited knowledge I have of it. I still remember when the Bioshock 1 CE had some of the statues have a broken finger. People were mad, and they shipped out replacements and gave them a physical artbook as compensation. Nowadays, it seems like they barely acknowledge that there was a problem. I guess it's a good thing I can't afford the CEs like I used to.

I think it funny how the company trying to put it off on Shipping Company fault since the damage and missing items is a worldwide issue and not isolated to only north america. Also i would hate to be selling these on ebay since it seem alot are missing various items which even though you as a seller has no knowledge of it it could bite you in the ass when a buyer file a claim

Found this on a site just now about austrailia EB Games:

I thought I would share some interesting news with you all.

A memo from EB games head office was sent to all the stores Australia wide advising staff to open and check every DA:I collector's edition box that arrived in stock because there had been reports of damaged and missing items.

The actual figures are roughly 15% of the received stock is so badly damaged (or there is so much missing) they are completely unsellable and head office did not even send them out to stores, of the remaining 85%, 80% have minor to moderate damage and/or are missing items, and only 5% are complete and undamaged.

The damage ranges from outer box damage, to items inside being broken like the plastic lock picks snapped in half, the map markers broken in half/pieces broken off them, quill and ink set broken/smashed;
The most common missing item are the Orlesian coins, which are housed in a box, in about 30% of the editions, those boxes are empty. Some are also missing the tarot cards, badge and lockpick set.

EB games will be offering partial refunds depending on the level of missing or damaged items but they have been advised by head office they will not be receiving anymore stock, so Australian customers do not even have the choice of waiting it out to get a replacement.

This looks like cheap decisions on the part of EA, the collector's box itself had no foam, there were no ties to hold items in place, all the items were just sitting in cheap plastic shells (and other items are just loose inside the box).

I remember they just replaced the Big Daddy statue, no artbook. I could be wrong though.

There was an art book. The original plan was for people to return their broken Big Daddy statues, however, since the second run took so long to produce, they sent replacement statues and physical art books out to anyone who requested them.

The art book was actually worth quite a bit in the aftermarket ($100+), but I think it dropped after an expanded Developer's Edition art book was made available on 2K's site. I have both versions on my bookshelf. Probably should have unloaded one of them when the value was high, but oh well.

EA REPLACING MISSING AND BROKEN ITEMS CONTACT GAMESTOP FOR MORE INFO:

http://help.ea.com/e...ken-or-missing/

Thu, 20 November 2014 - 1:17pm EST We have been receiving reports of some Inquisitor Editions arriving with some broken pieces. If that is the case for you, please contact your GameStop store and they will provide the directions to have the item replaced. GameStop and Project TriForce are working to make sure that all broken pieces are replaced. We will provide more instructions when we receive details from our partners.

I'm going to try to talk to gamestop.com support to see if I can get a partial refund for the Inquisitor's Edition. Even though it's a little busted up I have a hard time returning it, and what is busted up I could probably fix and don't need to get replaced.

I did the same thing, no dice. Told me refund/return only.

Btw, I did the online chat support and I was #60 in a queue. 60. How many CS reps do they have working there, 3? Ridiculous.

Customer service in the country is as bad as it has ever been.

WOOT, I started out as number 21 in line. Let's see if my puppy dog eyes are stronger than yours.

EDIT: I was given a $20 coupon for my next online order, that's not horrible...

if you want to keep it but just get it replaced just tell the gamestop rep that EA is telling people to contact gamestop and that there should be a memo of what steps to be taken to get the broken pieces replaced.

Most of the time customer service is not even done on American Soil. I can 100% tell that all my Comcast phone calls are with someone in India.

After the trouble I went through to get the darn LE too... Hoping that mine comes in ok because I do NOT want a second hassle to deal with...

Did you ask for a gift card or partial refund?
I asked for a partial refund and got this: "unfortunately no, we cannot refund the order if you don't send it back".

After I closed the session I took the survey and mentioned that the rep was very helpful, but that if they open their refund policy a little like Amazon (partial refund for busted up Destiny GE) that would be better.

At this point I'll see if I can get the broken figure replaced and keep the CE, but I'm going to return the OSG and the game so I can get the game cheaper at Best Buy (GCU).

THen how did you get the gift card?

THen how did you get the gift card?
Their next statement mentioned giving me a coupon as a consolation, no prompting on my part. EDIT: Also, it was a coupon and not a gift card.

Note that those are online coupons they give out. I got one for a different issue and it wouldn't work in store.
Correct.

Well... that was interesting. Went back a second time and he offered me a partial refund, when my last guy said they don't do that. I got a $30 partial refund.

Something else interesting he said was that they received replacement units for DA: IE, but they are very limited.

So you guys may be able to return them. However, he said the number they received is so small, that if you send yours in, they may run out of the replacement units while your item is in transit back to their returns center, and in that case, they would just give you a full refund instead. So it's a risky proposition if you don't want to lose out entirely.

At least one of the GS.com call centers are in San Jose; that's where I was directed to update my payment info.

I guess I lucked out as my EBay buyer is just getting for his brother in the Navy. Just going to take my labels off & ship it to him so I can just hopefully direct him to the EA support page/Project Triforce.

Thanks for posting Brittney's unboxing. Love her but can't agree with her opinion on the CE contents.

When I had to contact them yesterday to get my handling charge refunded, since they can't do that in-store, I was in the low 50's via chat and switched to phone in parallel when I was #39. I made it to #9 then the rep on the phone picked up.

Guess there's more phone reps than chat reps?

Boo - I'm still waiting for my DA. The last update on UPS was a departure scan on the 17th and nothing else. Suppose to be delivered today :/

Maybe, might depend on the day. There should be a law that says you can't wait for more than 30 minutes for customer service. Having to wait an hour to be attended to is rude, outrageous, and defeats what customer service is supposed to be about. It's about serving customers. Waiting is an inconvenience, further compounding the problem.

Companies can easily resolve this by putting more money into it, hiring more reps, better training programs so calls go by more smoothly. They don't, though, because in reality they don't care about the customer. Companies these days will go to any length, no matter how small, to screw you over if they get the chance. They want to put on this facade that they care about customers, so they don't ruin their reputation. Amazon is the exception. 99% of the time, they are extremely pro-customer. Probably because Bezos puts all his money back into the company.

That's why I never feel sorry for big companies that get ripped off by things like price-matching schemes. It's a wrong thing to do, but for the amount of shit mega companies put customers through on a yearly basis, it's nice to see some blowback on them in some way, shape, or form.

I think all stores especially best buy and GameStop phone system should be like amazon will it give you a estimated wait time and give you the Choice of staying on the line or getting a call back so you don't have to wait

Just got off the chat with a gamestop rep, cause 2 of my pieces were broke.  Basically they want me to mail them the pieces back, using the packing slip from the box, and paying postage.  Then when they get them back, they will refund me that part, and "either replace the pieces (as long as there is stock of them, as they might run out of the replacements)  or refund me the cost.

Since my stuff is only broke in a couple of spots, I'm just gonna glue them back together.  fuck sending them in and possibly not getting anything back but a minimum refund.

Damn my wwe2k15 hulkamania came damged from walmart. It has a tear along the bottom of the box. Lucky I bought another one from ubisoft and it came in pristine condition.

Same phone reps are on partial chat support.

Im in the same boat. Ups had my delivery date listed as end of day today... until about 3:00pm today when it updated to end of day tomorrow. I'm fully expecting that this means I'll receive the virtual equivalent of a destroyed piñata tomorrow afternoon.

Mine still hasn't updated.

Says it is coming today (even though it is almost midnight), with the last update being:

Louisville, KY, United States

11/17/2014

10:07 P.M.

Departure Scan

I'm starting to think it might be lost. Since there should be a whole bunch of scans in between as it has moved around or at least gotten close to my state.

Also I think I paid for the expedited shipping (my shipping was $9 - so I think I did).

That's why returning it for me was never an option. They don't refund shipping. Either was gonna keep it or sell it. Out of sheer principle, I refuse to lose money based on issues the manufacturer or carrier caused.

If mine shows up all FUBAR and they don't refund me my full price paid including shipping, you better believe I will be calling their corporate headquarters to bitch and submitting a BBB claim.

Before I got a big kid job I worked in e-commerce for almost a decade, so I'm 100% okay with a no refund on a standard return policy. But if you ship something to a customer that shows up all busted to kingdom come because it was either a) broken/incomplete from the manufacturer, or b) packaged by a retarded single-cell organism in the warehouse, you had better make your customer 100% whole (or better).
