Wow, are you that thick? I try to be civil with my responses here, but when you lay it on that hard and stupid, I can't bother with pleasantries.

Here's the answer for someone who seems to be struggling with the basic logic of the matter: I'd like an artbook. Those look nice. However, I'm not dying to drop $50 or $85 on said art book. $25-35? I could maybe talk myself into it. The Ultimate bundle's sweet, but not $130-with-the-game sweet. How you don't get that people have limits on what they'll pay for aesthetic pieces is beyond me.
Here's an artbook for $29. But go ahead and complain about the LE artbook in a civil manner. It's a free country.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Fallout-Bethesda-Softworks/dp/1616559802

It's no use Frier, they're going to use the "it's a free country" argument forever. They cannot correctly process the observation we've made. It's not worth the effort.
Maybe you should counter with an oral sex retort. That always helps.

Everybody a little stressed out here recently? Maybe just because I'm not on the board as much here recently but damn, I'd feel out of place talking about how nice the Zestiria CE is. I don't have anything major to complain about or anyone to insult..

Keep on crying since this thread needs some tears. Aren't your eyes sore yet?

It's OOS, Target site has those glitches sometimes, seen it happen plenty of time with amiibos.

They did, back in July, it was only up for 3 to 4 hours.
Oh my bad didn't know that... wouldn't have bothered posting this then.

re: Hardened Edition

Both PS4 and Xbox One have been in and out of stock, but both are currently in stock on Gamestop.com If someone really wanted one, by now they should have it... I'd just cancel if I were you .

Hardened has been out of stock for awhile. It came in stock briefly a week ago on the website but we havent been able to order it in store for months.

Hmmm why us it showing in stock for me right now.

Correct, it was available to preorder for about a month, then wasn't available for a week and a half, and has now been available to preorder again for the last two weeks.

No idea then. Its been cut off in store for awhile now. Sorry for the confusion. Don't really check the web site and last i looked you could web in store it.

Physical Hardened is a gamestop exclusive this year.  Was out of stock, than back in.  Not sure of its status now.  I am surprised it is popular at all this year.  Normally they always include the season pass.  This one doesnt.

Is it popular, or just being made in smaller quantities because of the exclusivity, allowing it to feign popularity with the brief sellout?

That one is a lot nicer. Which one is that one? Is that the PAL version?
Yeah, that was the Uplay/Ubishop exclusive for the UK. Since their games (and DLCs at least as of last gen) seem to all be region free, I end up splurging for the biggest CE they've got every year. I'm excited that they voted for the litho that they did though, its the one I voted for (well, by proxy with the person who ordered it for me over there). Also, the futurepak that comes with it isn't a "steelbook" this year, which makes me sad, but luckily the other steelbook is cheap enough to find elsewhere. Stinks that no steelbook was ever made available over here though! It was great last year being able to order just the steelbook itself online from Ubisoft.

Is it popular, or just being made in smaller quantities because of the exclusivity, allowing it to feign popularity with the brief sellout?
Agreed. We have to remember these companies are trying to play into our desire for rare things. taking it down for a week to make it seem sold out makes you think, "oh! It's back! I better get it now when I can!" ... When you could have gotten it all along. I'm sure that lack of sales for a week and adding the perception of scarcity will sell more units long term than people thinking they can get it whenever they want.

Amiibo's are a perfect example, and everyone is trying to take plays out of their playbook because it works.

That is also why Fallout sold so many Pip-Boys, "extremely limited quantities" was used as the selling point. Then they took orders for 48 hours while people panicked, and went to the factories to make hundreds of thousands.

Part of being a CAG is unfortunately playing as a stock investor in some ways. Will the value go up or down? Can I get this for less or is this my best opportunity? We have to make these decisions and sometimes must completely remove any emotion from the decision... Desire, excitement, frustration, etc. We just have to look at the facts and go from there.

There has never been any reason to panic over a COD hardened edition. it has always been available. It's only available at one retailer so this type of control on marketing can be put in place. This strategy wouldn't work with 10 retailers selling it. They would actually have to let it sell out and then have people wait a couple weeks for more stock... And that won't work for call of duty. Hype train will be gone faster than it came. (I love call of duty)

Just always be skeptical. There is nothing about this product for anyone to think they won't be able to get it outside of GameStop taking it down for a week after being for sale for a month and I'm sure sales figures diminishing. They boosted demand.

Not only that, but we all know how sleazy GameStop is, so you can't put this past them. This is right up their alley. I'm actually surprised there isn't the mandatory strategy guide, t-shirt, captain falcon amiibo (cause f**k it, it looks like its a... meh.. f**k it just throw it in there), hardened "bundle" edition for $149.99.

That's just my take on it all. I'll stop rambling. My point is there is no reason to think it's selling amazingly outside of unknown reasons why GameStop took it down for 1.5 weeks out of the last 8 weeks.

Is anyone picking up the Halo 5 LE? Up until now I was just planning on getting the standard edition and hope to get LCE if it ever clearances out, but the 14 REQ packs makes the LE a little attractive.

I'm going standard. I was going to get the LE console, but school payments are in the way for another month (I could afford it, but it wouldn't be the smartest time to purchase). So, I'll probably wait until Black Friday and get it, in the hopes I can get free LIVE or another game or two or something with the purchase. That's why I'm going standard, not LE--the console comes with the LE version, so I'll get that later and sell/trade/give away my spare standard copy. I'll probably grab the Chief controller as well, since my stock black one's the old model and its trigger is getting squeaky.

While I can see where you're coming from with this idea, This strategy by video game companies doesn't really work and would only hurt themselves. It worked for amiibos cause that's something that can be released more 6 months to 1 year down the line. But take the Pipboy for example, yes I agree with you that lots of people bought this on the perception that it's rare. Problem is if Bethesda used the artificial demand to boost sales strategy, it will fail. Consumers can always return or cancel a preorder once they find out its not really a rare item. And in the case of the Pipboy, consumers have 2 months to return the item due to holiday return period by most retailers. As you said in other posts, expect mass cancellations of the Pipboy because it's not really that rare. If that happens, Bethesda or any company pulling this stunt still doesn't get the sale. Amiibos are different and Nintendo played it perfectly by making them scarce for 8 to 10 months before releasing massive restocks. They cannot do that with a video game CE. Also a sale is not final for something like the Pipboy or Hardened edition until it pasts the return period. So the only thing that would happen is you get people with the wrong perception that it's rare, they all get bought up, the mass cancellations/returns shortly before or shortly after release. Then the companies still don't sell any more than they would normally sell (ok maybe a little bit more due to the uninformed people), instead they have tons on excess stock because tried to create artificial demand.

I agree on both sides, that there can be an attempt to falsify rarity (or it was a legitimate uncertainty on production capability), and that it can back fire. I also think there's a third step in it where people assume long-term value. Many folks will probably snatch them up and play the NRFB card, letting the things sit on a shelf for 3-5 years. Then, the Fallout 5 hype pushes the value for those back up, and the people willing to play the long con win.

I agree on both sides, that there can be an attempt to falsify rarity (or it was a legitimate uncertainty on production capability), and that it can back fire. I have ten for each system coming, going in the attic for three years then $$$$

I was thinking since the Pipboy only works with certain phones. When the phones aren't made anymore and people try to sell the Pipboy for a profit, wouldn't the fact that most phones won't work with it turn people off? Chances are the iPhone9SC+ and Galaxys8 1/2 won't be compatible with the Pipboy.

Just keep track of amazon's pages for juggernog and pip boy, closer to release you will definitely see some pop up for sale.  I know of at least 4 people that cancelled their juggernogs (myself included) after playing the beta, while its probably fewer for the pip boy you will see em.  i don't know though when amazon puts preorders back up for cancellations, usually they start billing a few days before launch (to get it shipped in time) so the 4-5 days before release is when you should start checking daily.

i dunno if something like instock.net will be fast enough to track cancels being put back up though, you'll definitely want to set it to mobile alerts so you can jump on it asap

It is just a case with foam spacers. You should be able to adjust it to any phone. Outdated mobile phones are dirt cheap, so people could always buy a phone for $5 that is out of date and use that with the pip boy for cosplay purposes.

I know I mentioned this before it went up for preorder, but people underestimate cosplay demand. There is one item I buy for $1-$2 each and I can sell it for $80+ to cosplayers. (No I am not going to post what it is.)

This is the first time a pipboy has been offered. Now if they start mass producing piboys, then the value will tank. If they keep this is an exclusive release for a pipboy, then I believe it will continue to go up in value over time.

Who the hell would still be playing Fallout 4 by the time Samsung galaxy 8 comes out? On the other hand, who the hell pays $150 - $200+ for a sealed box with a bobblehead or Poker chips inside? Oh wait!!!

Anybody grabbing the ultimate vault dwellers bundle? 78 on Amazon right now. 130 everywhere else.
I did. I wanted it but initially passed when I saw it for $130. At $78 I was OK with it.

I want the triple vinyl Fallout 3 soundtrack, but at $85 I think it's overpriced even for limited edition triple vinyl. Shouldn't be more than $45 at most IMO.

Actually Fallout 3 had an Amazon exclusive Pipboy edition with built in screen. It goes for quite a bit now, but I suspect it's more of a Mass Effect 1 CE type deal, being rather rare, than actual interest in the Pipboy. I think people will enjoy this edition well enough, but I think once people see how cheap and plasticky this thing is, the talk of soaring future value may diminish a bit.

This ... On the other hand, will probably be worth thousands in the future .. If you can find a way to get one ...

2 to 3 years? Thats all it will take for s8. Probablly same people who still play fallout 1,2,3 still. Or people who play 30 year old mario games. People that still play doom or duke nukem. Or any other of the thousand 10+ year old games people play.

By that point I would hope that anyone still playing the game would have lost interest in a stupid gimmick like an uncomfortable piece of plastic, one that doesn't even have any use other than housing your phone so that you can play Donkey Kong in nasty green colors.

It was a wearable clock, and extremely hard to purchase IIRC. I guess what I am saying is there is a demand for the product regardless of the rarity. I don't think the pip boy edition is necessarily rare, I think that there are enough people interested where it will hold its value (until they release a stand alone pipboy). It's almost like FFVII. Not rare by any means, but there is a demand for it (I haven't looked since the psn release, but I imagine it took a significant dip after that).

It's a clock. I have one on the shelf in my game room. No screen in it. It just displays numbers
How is the battery life? I remember a lot of people said it was bad.

He actually overstated that. The S6 is current. S7 would be 2016, and the S8 would be 2017. So, the S7 would be current while the Season Pass is distributed, and the S8 would probably be current while the GotY bundle is out. We're really only talking about 18 months or so (Spring 2017), not 2-3 years.
