Then only rare Pros that became rare took awhile to sell out. With two more on the way, I think anybody that wants one will have plenty of time to get one.
 
I just pre-ordered the spiderman ps4 pro bundle at best buy. After the collector's edition selling out I'm glad I at least got this.

The Spider-man Pro already sold out on amazon, that might be the fastest yet. Then again if they are beefing with Sony maybe they didn't get too many in the first place.

No one will ever, ever, ever, wonder if it's a CE console or not. Kudos to Sony for doing the color and the decal. That said, I'd bet good money that a bunch of CEs are available at launch.

Are you talking about Spider-Man CE? Unless retailers are deliberately holding stock I doubt it, maybe a few cancellations here or there. They already said on Twitter the CE was pretty rare and sold out when someone requested them to make more.

I think you should buy octopath not for its rarity but because you like the game / it’s genre.

It seems to be one of the few good JRPGs square makes these days, so for me that merited the CE.

I think they're tired of seeing their stuff move at twice MSRP on the resale market (and probably also tired of complaints about said market). At the very least these price points will result in less scalpers, I'd assume, with the higher monetary threshold for entry.

That's not it, any price point is a business decision. There are expensive CEs lately because they know people will pay for them. If you haven't noticed each year the prices steadily rise. At this point next year the CEs usually $200 will be $230 and the year after that $260. As long as people continue to buy them, they have nothing to lose.

The only way to stop it is to stop buying them, but when you tell some collectors that they say "don't tell me what to buy and don't buy" to which I say fine, buy whatever you want, and enjoy your marked up CEs that will continue to go up.

That's absurd.   Most of us wouldn't even pay $100 for that.   Cya on the clearance rack in 2years RE2 CE.

People won't be paying those prices anymore, especially with the removal of GCU and Prime not discounting 20% off CEs anymore.

 
Honestly the main reason they jacked up the RE2 CE is because its RE2. Wait till you see the price tag in the eventual FF7 remake CE.

I wonder if it's also a safer approach to if something doesn't sell out and goes on sale? Like, if it sells out at the over-priced MSRP, then publishers are happy. If it doesn't and has to go on sale, then any % discount is prob much easier on their bottom line when the original price is higher and the consumer thinks they're getting a bigger discount. :whistle2:k

Weird question - Is the Leon a figure (like the Wolfenstein collector's edition - although hopefully better quality at that price) or a statue? Because at that price, it better be a poly stone hi-end item. If it's one of those plastic statues - well, there is no way it worth that - MAYBE 100 at best.

Not all collector's editions are this bad. And, I mean that from a value standpoint, not a cost standpoint. The God of War collector's edition was great - and it was only 129.99 (cheaper than that for me since I have my Gamer's Club until Feb. 2020). The Fallout 76 collector's edition - even at 199.99 is - and I am assuming the helmet is if at least the quality level of the Titanfall 2 helmet from a few years back - is a decent deal.

However, certain game's collector's edition definitely don't feel worth the asking price. I managed to get a collector's edition copy of Ni No Kuni II from Amazon Warehouse Deals for 56 dollars shipped. Not sure if it was a glitch since the new versions Prime sale price was 99.99, but I jumped on it. Got luck too. The one they sent me looks like it had never been opened - game inside was still shrinkwrapped with season pass codes and DLC - the outside box only had a few dents. But my wife and I were looking at it and she asked how much it cost originally. When I said 200 dollars, she laughed - no way that is worth 200 dollars. And - to be honest - even though I love the game series, I would have felt ripped off if I had spent 200 dollars on this. In the end, it comes down to value as opposed to cost. And, if future CE are as lacking as this RE2 version … yeah, I doubt I will be buying many more. Heck, even RE7 had a ton more collectibles and it was around the same price.

Thanks. I read that, but the picture makes it look more like a statue. Didn't know if anyone knew for sure.

 
It seems, at least lately,  Tales CEs seem to give you most bang for the buck. They are usually $100-$130, and come with figures, steelbook, artbook, and other goodies. The only problem is I don't think the actual Tales games are that good anymore, I feel the series has gone down hill, but I feel they are reasonably priced in comparison. Any CE you get on the Square Enix store that has the same contents you get in a Tales CE usually runs $200+.
