Most Asked Question...WHEN PRICES DROP?

All stores vary when prices will drop because it depends on how well the inventory is selling. If selling fairly well the store could possibly stay open longer, if not, the store may close down earlier preventing any further discounts from happening. From what I've noticed most price drops happen once a week (days vary) and then the last two weeks they drop much quicker...every 3 days or so. Hope this info helps!

CURRENT LIQUIDATION GAME SALE INFO

The first 800 HWV store closings have finished and all stores are beginning the process over again. You will need to check in with your area store periodically about current discounts because each store is different. Current Speculation is that all stores will be closed within 10 weeks...so by July.

I do not have a master list of prices unfortunately. Most stores have gone through and price stickered the older games. There is a possibility of the newer games being price stickered as well, but until then, you will have to inquire about the price with the employee. Most prices for the newer games in the computer range between $30-$50 and then take whatever their current discount is off that price.

Any Forum Trades; please visit http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230651

Special Ordering Used or New Video Games

Beginning December 14th, ALL Hollywood Video stores will have the ability to place New & Used GAME Special Orders. Customers who cannot find games or accessories can place a Special Order and have it shipped from any Game Crazy/Game Zone store to their Hollywood Video for pick-up.

* Shipping Fee is $6.00 (Possibly per game if being shipped from different locations)
* Most Special Orders arrive within 7 days of ordering
* Outlet Stores do not participate in Special Orders, so YMMV on all stores.

Special Orders include:

Strategy Guides
New & Used Controllers
New & Used Games
New & Used cables, cords, and accessories
Toys & Figures

There is a list of product either on a waiting list or permanently out of stock; I may include this at a later point when I have more time. It's quite long.

Important notes (please read these before posting questions):

1) 99% of these deals will NOT work in a Game Crazy. They have their own deals; please refer to http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234882 These deals will also more than likely NOT work at a Hollywood Video with a Game Crazy attached! However, Movie Gallery may or may not have some of these same Game deals! "Movie Gallery bought Hollywood Video", hence the reason for some of the same sales at either HWV or MG.

2) Hollywood Video employees will need to scan a coupon code in order for any game to be discounted.

3) Hollywood Video's store hours vary from location to location, especially with all the store closings. Please call.

4) If you would like to contribute to any game deals, please when posting, include game, system, price, city and state.
For example:
Dragon Quest VIII, PS2, $4.99
Tampa, FL (Temple Terrace)

5) Hollywood Video's are mostly movie rental stores (games are not as important to them to keep up on), thus, always double check on sticker prices because 50% of the time they are probably stickered wrong. ;)

6) Do not trust the store locator at HollywoodVideo.com Google it and call first. That store might already be closed!

7) Hollywood Video does not do cash back if a game is damaged or you "already own it". Used games have a 90 day guarantee. You have a few options: swap for same title, swap for a different title if they do not have it, or using the disc buffer machine to try and fix the game. Hollywood Video also does disc buffing for personal items at a $1 per disc.

8) ALL sales are FINAL during the closing sale. Usually within the first few weeks of the sale if you do purchase something that does not work they MAY swap it for you. YMMV!!!
Hollywood Video can be real buttholes sometimes. At first I went to a local Hollywood Video asked if they were doing the 4.99 sale, they said she didn't hear anything about it and said the used games were 3 for $15, then she looked in her MG mag and saw the sale was on. Tried to check out there and since I am a powerplay member the coupon wouldn't work right, it only took off the 10% and wouldn't do the 4.99. So they proceeded to call corporate, I probably stood there 10 or more minutes but finally got it to work. They had to ring it up as store cash and not use your powerplay membership.
*sigh* newbies... they should have known that if you have the powerplay; other discounts do not work with it. I can't believe they called tech support over it. lol Hope you atleast got some good games out of it. :)

NO

It's on the first page of this thread...do we need to quote it every page?
I believe we do have to quote it every single page since no one who asks the same questions must've read the first post.

Then again, we vets should be used to this by now, since this happens in EVERY friggin' deal thread.

Examples of questions commonly asked, even though the answer may well be in the OP of each thread they're asked in:

Someone who doesn't understand what YMMV on clearance prices means: "Duhhhh my store had a game on the clearance list but it was ringing up higher than listed. Why is that?"

Most commonly asked question that's been covered 1,000,000 times in THIS thread: "Durrrr does dis sale qualify at Hollywood Videos with Gamecrazy stores in dem?"

Wow. Even though you just posted, does this sale qualify at Hollywood Videos with Gamecrazy attached?

I was almost sure SSBB was already at 29.99. So much for that one.

Sorry, all I could find on the first page was

99% of these deals will not work in a Game Crazy.

Not sure if it meant we could buy games at a Hollywood video even though they had a Game Crazy attached to them or not.
Wow. Even though you just posted, does this sale qualify at Hollywood Videos with Gamecrazy attached?

She said it was ringing up at 39.99.

Gah, I really wish the store I worked at didn't close its doors. $4.99 for some awesome games, and my only option for this deal would be driving about 60+ miles. Of course, no telling if the drive would be worth it they might already be picked clean.

Might be totally unrelated to the 4.99 sale but I went to a local Hollywood Video that used to have GameCrazy attached. The GameCrazy closed down but they have all their games and accessories 80% off of the sticker price. So I got a lot of Xbox 360 games for $1.80. So check your stores that used to have a GameCrazy attached.

This is confirmed .. went to a HV w/ a closed GC at Webster, TX .. all games and accessories at 80% sticker price .. got lots of awesome Nerf Wii stuff for under a buck .. they do have loads of really really old games as well for under a $2.00 as well such as Stranglehold, Table Tennis, and Lego Indy.

Anybody want to run by their local Hollywood for some Ps3 stuff? Mine are completely useless and refuse to honor coupons or have anything worthwhile in stock. pm me.

Lmao @ mission o yea ill go by my local HWV and pick up a bunch of games and send them to you. Mwahahaha seriously how could you even ask such dumb thing?

Its not a dumb thing at all to ask fellow CAGS to pick them up a game.Alot of us if able to will pick up games for people, usually they will pay price of game+ shipping+couple of dollars for time spent. Its not that outrageous!

Went to a store that didn't have the signage up. Grabbed a couple games and mentioned the sale to the guy and he had to look it up in his market guide. So I ended up getting

:360:
Fable II
Fallout 3

PS3
Socom
Resistance

Wii
Boom Blox

believe or not this has been going on for years at CAG. it's a way to help members out. it's a good idea for those who are busy or simply can't make it on those deal days.

Snagged:

Shadow of the Colossus (black label)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube)
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Mario Kart: Double Dash

Complete with manual and artwork except for Zelda, all in replacement DVD cases. I have all but Mario Goif already, so these will make decent gifts for siblings.

Yeah. So outrageous. Kinda like the idea of people taking time out of their busy lives and schedules to type up and post ads early or post deals they find so that others can benefit too. That's so outrageous. I could never imagine anyone ever doing that.

By the way, "such dumb thing" is often requested on this site, and sometimes, the request is actually honored.

Anyone be willing to grab me some PS3 stuff? I will have some cash in paypal on tuesday..

begging in a thread is a huge no no...take it to the proper thread.

Thing is, there's helping people out and then there's letting the same people repeatedly beg for shit that they're too lazy to go out and do their own legwork and find on their own.

Take a good long look at who asks for others to pick up stuff for them and you'll soon see that it's the same people doing it many times.

Honestly, I help out long time forum members when I do help out anyone on here and only those long time members who I recognize as frequent posters/contributors and not the typical 1-2 post leeches who beg and lurk.

Well, been to few stores on Friday and after looking through at least two hundred discs, only snagged few PS2, one GameCube, and one 360 games. Was not able to find more PS3 games other than sport titles.

Will be making couple runs in the next few days, can help someone looking out for some games, but shall not expect much since one of the stores that I know have many games has closed down and have not seen good titles in others from previous run.

Picked up today:

:wii: Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (for the gf's fam)

:360: Assassin's Creed (gotta play 1 before 2 right?)
:360: Too Human (replacing older damaged copy)
:360: Halo 3 (disc only, can finally play my well seasoned friends)

:ps3: SF4
:ps3: Legendary (never heard much about, but for five bucks why not)
:ps3: RSV2 (1 was good, 2's gotta be right?)
:ps3: NFS: Underground

And the kicker:

:psp: Gran Turismo (priced 29.99)! - epic win on that one, bro's gonna love it

Sadly, I did find a package labled eternal darkness, but when rung up had a harry potter game... but the other games made up for it

Hey guys just to let you in on my stupidity my brother pointed out that the sign actually says "All games $29.99 or UNDER are now $4.99" I also just read it on the first post.

So today I picked up

PS3
Saints Row 2
Fallout 3
Rockband

I am definitely going back to the other Movie Galleries I visited not too far from here and picking up some of the games that were under $29.99. I think I passed up Red Faction and some other good PS3 and 360 games. I just hope they are still there.

Picked up Trauma Center Second Opinion (figured for $5 I could play Operation on the Wii). And NFS Prostreet which I then traded to a friend for the NFS Undercover that they didn't like. I think I'm gonna go back tomorrow and get two copies of NBA 2k9 so me and my friend don't have to play 2K6 anymore.
You ever notice them getting rid of any used blu rays? They don't seem to get many in, so it's rare that i ever see any used ones for sale. I'm going to check the Hendersonvillle store in a bit, i know the Madison store you're talking about, used to go there all the time.
I dont know. That was the first time in there in years. I was checking that HV and just thought I would stop in there and see. Did you find anything at the Hendersonville store? It used to have a Game Crazy attached so I didnt even bother.

I was talking to en employee (on Saturday) at a Movie Gallery and he said the sale was ending on Sunday. Are the Movie Galleries doing something different from the HVs?

These dates are for Hollywood Video only. Movie Galleries, although sister stores, may have different dates. I've honestly been in a MG once ever..so I do not have any definite idea on how there sales run. I can only confirm HWV deals and information.

All my local HWV had was Gamecube and original Xbox games.. oh they had 1 360 game 'X-Men Wolverine' - No, Wii, PS2, PSP or PS3 games.. bummer.

@kube00 Any chance you've been to the Kennewick store since last Thurs? Just curious if they added anything worth checking. I wish the BBV by Safeway would drop their prices. They have a nice selection, but really high prices.

Oh I thought gamecrazy was gamezone. Well I called up all the gamezone movie galleries around here and picked up Resident Evil 5, Resistance 2, and Rock Band for 5 each. Little else was left.

Just went to Hollywood Video in Franklin,MA. They had absolutely nothing...as usual. I don;t think I'm ever going to go there for one of these deals again because they never have anything. Just Gamecube and PS2 games.

Just got back from Hollywood. I wasnt expecting anything and I was right everything was gone. The manager said that I could take anything that qualified for the sale, off of the rental wall and he'd just sell it as used.

I ended up getting
Resistance 2
Street Fighter 4
Wanted
Fuel
SoulCalibur 4
Far Cry 2 ,and about 3 others for the 4.99 price.
Great day for me....thanks CAG

How did you pull this off? Did you have Charlie Brown music playing in the background?

even if the store is closing they can't do this, the manager/employee will lose some money from their last paycheck......as per what i was told by the hwv near me.

Los Angeles CAGers, wont find anything of value for now, I drove to 5 locations (2hrs and nearly half tank of gas) 2 of those locations were shut down (Wilshire & Western and the Hawthorne stores) the Marina Del Rey store had some rare original Xbox games (morrowind & Shenmue 2) but nothing else.
