[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

those dang olevia tvs eluded me... i almost found them at 2 stores only to be told it was either bought that morning or the night b4... 1 store def had the 32inch but i hesitated since it was a display looked a little scratched up on the screen and didnt have the updated price at first... when i went back the price was updated alright but some1 purchased it the night b4... should of/was gonna do a return/rebuy but the slight scratches held me back

My local stores had 2-3 of them each, though they were clearly marked so they'll probably be long gone before they hit a really cheap price.
 
Not sure how much of a deal this is but some kmarts may have a GH:WT guitar only bundle on sale for $30 (online listed sale price too) but another local kmart doesn't so YMMV. I picked one up since I can't find the major band game clearance bundles anymore.

My closest Kmart had a 60gb buried in the case for the longest time, which disappeared just a couple of weeks before I bought my 40gb from FYE.

You'd be amazed by all the shit they have collecting dust in the back rooms. My one buddy from CAG went looking for older games with me at that closest Kmart the one night and they brought out a rolling cart with 2-4 year old PS2 and Xbox games, most of which were on the very end of the clearance cycle by then and cost $2-5 each.

Then, when I was looking for some trade fodder, I had them bring out 3 HD-DVD drives from the back of the store. They had reached the $12 level on clearance and would've likely gone out of the system without anyone buying them.

Even though it's a task and a half to get a clerk to even do a pricecheck on stuff in electronics as it is, if you find a friendly enough clerk you should ask if they have anything in the back from electronics.

If they refuse to go and look, immediately go to the service desk and ask for a manager.

YMMV - I had one scanned at Sears about 4 days ago and it was $54.97. Kmart will be pretty wiped clean by this point. TRU is probably your best bet.

I love seeing all the stuff people are finding at Kmart. Sometimes going in Kmart is almost like going in a thrift store that sells new items. I mean, how many stores do you go into that you can find products for consoles that have 2 newer generation versions, still sealed it it's very own yellowed case? (The closest I came was actually today at Wal-Mart, they still had several copies of Nights for Wii. I really want the game, but here it isn't very good, so was hoping to get it cheap and they still have it at $20, prior to this I've never even seen this game case in person, now if only I could find it at Kmart!) You would think at some point Kmart would learn better practices to get rid of games. They either seem to have prices twice as high as most stores or have games on clearance for next to nothing. Obviously this is a great way for us CAG to find some totally cheap games and gear, but they obviously aren't going to stay in business for long with those practices. I can't even count how many times the rumors would swirl in my hometown that our Kmart was going to go out of business.

Seeing all these great deals really makes me wish I could head back to my Kmart in Ohio sometimes. I went to the nearest Kmart to me here in Florida and all of the prices scanned right from my list of UPC's, but unfortunately the only thing I was able to get was Anubis II, I couldn't find anything else in the case. I did get lucky and the lady that came to help me in electronics was very nice, but she really didn't work back there, didn't really know what she was doing and she was getting calls right and left, so keeping her made me feel terrible, so after two cases I told her that was all I needed and left with Anubis... But anyway, my Kmart back home had great employees, always willing to help and always someone in the electronics that knew what they were doing and would help with anything. Plus, they had everything neatly organized and finding good games deals there really wasn't hard, I discovered this even before I was a CAG, though being armed with the knowledge I have now I could probably score just about everything I want from my list.

Thanks. I was at Toy's R Us Monday to pick up DeBlob, I didn't see Nights there, but their games were not very organized and I didn't have much time and I was more interested in finding Drawn to Life for $10.

When I go back I will definitely take a closer look! Thanks again!

There was no other older items, and i asked the guy working in that area what the deal was, and he told me its because it was the best one in the series, and that that was the current price. He refused to open up the case and scan them. Does this sound strange to anyone else?

I know the Kmart near me had a Vision Cam, but I can remember for sure how much it was. For some reason I have $12 or $10 in my head, but can't guarantee it. However, that was back on July 24, so whether or not they are still there I don't know. I don't get to the area much, so I can't watch as closely as I like.... and it is a little scary :baby:

Your local Kmart wouldn't happen to be in Mt. Pocono in Pennsylvania, would it? I ask because that's the last Kmart I saw a PS1 multitap in. Funnier still is that it was marked and rang up for $29.99 at one point. But then they finally re-clearanced it and it FINALLY disappeared.

Yeah, sounds strange. I assume you mean the GH II bundles? My local Hollywood Video has one of these and they want $60 or $70 for it. Very odd... But I like how they make crap up to justify it (like they even need to bother :roll:). There is a local chain here, Fred Meyer, which is mostly a grocery store but also has an Electronics section. They used to clearance stuff out to pretty low prices (I've gotten a few 360 games at $1.97). But they seem to have given that up and now, as a result, their clearance bin is overflowing. I made a comment to one of the guys there about how corporate needs to mark this stuff down more to get it moving and he said that because it was mostly sports games and those are so popular they aren't marking them down any more. Yeah, OK, so then why aren't people stampeding to the store to get those NCAA Football 07's for $14.97, eh? They had Beijing Olympics clearanced at $49.97. And then they keep things like DMC 4 at $24.97 for like 8 months (and have about 15 copies of it). Granted, they do offer a percentage off of those prices that varies (usually 20%, but sometimes 30% or 40%) - but even when the 40% was running no one bought NCAA 07.
 
If it's that one sports game for the GC that's worth bout $150 or so(to collectors), even paying $15 would be worth it though, IO.

I probably passed up about 3-5 copies of it at various FYE stores since I didn't realize how valuable it was until I was all the way home and I haven't managed to get back to those stores to pick it up yet.

It's NCAA college basketball 2K3, according to VGPC, its worth around $50.

I guess I overstated value, huh? That just goes to show how little I pay attention to sought after games outside of the usual ones that pretty much everybody knows about(FFVII,etc,etc) and especially sports games since I NEVER play those.
 
I saw the live vision cam for $10 here, and some Wii plastic accessories for probably 5$ each. The vision cam doesn't seem to be going for much on ebay so I didn't get it and I have no use for it since I don't have a Xbox 360. Sears has the vision cam for like 30 something but the price is probably lower since the tags had an outdated month on them.

I'm hoping to try some other kmarts over the weekend but theyre a little bit of a drive away

Try going back in a few days, MY K-mart is always a little behind on getting things marked down. I always go when you guys find stuff and it is never marked down, but If I go afew days later it will either be marked down, or the local hoarder will have it.

Remember, the Live Vision cams work on your PC too, I use mine more as a PC webcam than w/ my 360...

A Sony EyeToy(PS2 cam) works just as well with a PC too, though I had to download a somewhat experimental program to do anything other than use it as a cam.

Those are $5 @ Gamestop used.
 
Passed today on Rock Revolution for 360. I'm not sure all that plastic clutter is worth it considering the horrible track list.
 
I work in Electronics at a Southeastern Ohio K-Mart. Some of the recent markdowns I did included:

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (PS3, Xbox 360): $8
Sony HD275 HTIB (1000 watt): $112, down from $300

I usually keep pretty current on my markdowns. My RMU gives me a few days notice of pending markdowns/clearance too. Nothing really big on the horizon yet. Although, I'll post if I hear anything about the coming PS3 price drop.

I almost, got the most epic deal today. I went to Kmart to see if they had anything, I was in the area and I'm usually not and it is pretty far for me to get to. So, I thought I'd stop in, even though the area is a little on scary side. So I scanned a couple things I was looking to kit using the barcodes I printed and they are rang up as had been previously posted. So I head back to electronics to see if they had anything.

Just as with the last time they really didn't have anything in, at least from what I could see since most of the stuff is just stacked three rows back. They had a couple games for $10 or less, but nothing of interest, so I decided to pass. I then decided to check to see if they have any game accessories, of course nothing I really wanted was there. But, I see a sign in the 360 accessories for $9.99, of course being a CAG anytime I see a low price sign I have to see what it is. I get over there and it is the sign for the Play n' Charge kit, which they unfortunately didn't have in stock (I was going to get one since I picked up a 360 Energizer charger today), but on the hanger thing that locks the stuff in was a 360 wireless adapter. I'm thinking maybe I could get them to lower the price on it since someone there had to put it in the wrong place and lock it in, not like someone could have done it, it had to be an employee.

So, some other guys were waiting to get a game and had already called for someone to come to electronics (they actually got on the phone and did the page themselves, which I thought was pretty funny because this store is terrible to get help in) So I thought I would stick around and see what they would say. So after at least fifteen minutes a guy comes back to see what they other guys needed, he said he would try and find someone or get some keys, after another 15 minutes or so he finally comes back (in no hurry, very slow) and has the keys. Of course he can't get the case open and goes through every key before he found the right one, gets them their game and said he would put it at the register for them since they needed to get something else.

Before he left I stopped him and said "Is this $9.99 (pointing to the wireless adapter)" to which he replies "Yeah, it should be, that's what it says, but let me check" so he goes over to another guy to get the thing to unlock the adapter, comes back and then takes it to the register to scan it and of course it rings up $89.99 and he's like "Well that is weird, that can't be right" and he scans it again and says "Well, I don't get this, I will have to take it up front and see what they say" so he grabs the tag from the hanger and then we go up to the front of the store and he pages for a manager twice, gets no response and finally the lady that was actually working at the desk (who was so busy she was basically running in circles) stops to see what he needs. He explained everything to her, showed her the sign that said $9.99 and told her it is ringing up $89.99, she then scans it and says "Well this is ringing up $89.99" and he responds "I know, that's what I said, but it was locked up with this $9.99 tag" and she says "Well, for that big of a difference you have to get the manager to approve it" so she calls and told the manager to go to electronics.

So we head back to electronics and wait, and wait and the manager doesn't come and while we are standing there the guy that was helping me finally realized that the items was in the wrong place and was ringing up correctly and said that there was nothing they could do. I was hoping I could get something out of it, based on the way the employees are at the store I figured they may be too lazy and just change the price, but with that big of a difference I didn't think that would happen, but I was at least hoping to get something off since they did put it in the place with the wrong tag (or even get the black Play n Charge for $10 since I waited so long). I had to get going and the manager didn't seem to be anywhere around and I figured he wouldn't do anything anyway, so I just decided to leave. I had my fingers crossed the whole time, but unfortunately nothing came out of my trip, except for about an hour of wasted time.

On a side note, I did get to watch as someone tried to steal a couple of things from the store and see their two security guys nearly tackle him to get him back into the store. (Like I said, it is in a pretty shady area and they must have a problem with it because the guys were dressed in everyday close and looked more like construction workers or something than a security guard or employee) so that was kind of interesting to watch. They also had the Sony DVD camera that some people have found, but it was still ringing up at $60. I don't need one, my brother just got a new one and neither one of us really like the DVD cameras so I decided to pass. If it comes down to the $30 point everyone else has found it for, I might bite, but they still had two left (one looked new and I think the other was the display model) and I figure there is a good chance it will be there for a while since it is still marked at $300 and anyone that would want would have to wait forever to get an employee and I think that really hurts their sales.

Anyhow, just thought I would share my experiences today!

Yeah, that's just how life is sometimes, I would have done the same thing. Imagine the adrenaline rush if you pulled that one off :)
 
If the difference were only smaller, then maybe I could see it happening. An interesting read though, keeps me going to Kmart to see if I myself can find such an oppertunity. I've only gotten a manager override once, and that was because of a $10 difference, on a game that went on clearence, had the sticker, and then reverted back to normal price.

i think that is the exact price of the :360: GH II bundle at my kmart as well.

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting it at the $10 price, obviously (unless they were lazy, which considering they all look like they are being held there against their will, so it could possibly happen) but I was thinking a manager might do something since it was their error and a lot of times you can get something that way and you never know.

I can't even imagine how it would have felt if I actually got it. The entire time I was waiting my heart was beating so far I thought I was gonna pass out (good thing they were doing free health checks in there today :roll: ) It was such a rush, I probably would have passed out if I got a decent amount.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. If it had been in a controller slot or something there would have been a much better chance (I've had cashiers correct things that were priced $20 and $30 off without getting permission before) but I figured that $80 would never happen. I still can't pull myself to spend the $77 for the adapter on Amazon, so I would have loved to have got it for anything under that and I thought there was a slight chance to get something out of it since it was their fault and the employee I was with knew how long I had been waiting. Had I still been back home in Ohio, I know for certain I would have got something out of this. The people at that Kmart did everything to make customers happy and to keep them coming back (considering prices on a lot of things were higher than elsewhere, something were older and not as new as what you could get, etc. they had to make sure the customers were happy) and they would do anything they could in order to make the situation better.





I know better than to get my hopes up for anything because if you don't expect it, you don't care so much if it doesn't happen, but it never hurts to try. I had an all around ho-hum day for deals today and really didn't manage to get anything, so to have been able to cap the day with something, even a little something, would have been nice!

If anything, this experience made me love the adventure of being a CAG (newbie) even more. Reading the message boards for all the deals, getting the list/barcodes ready to go, the excite before heading out to go shopping, searching the games for what you are looking for, finding a great deal (especially the ones that aren't marked, when they aren't marked it is so much fun to know that you knew because of this site and fun to the cashiers face when you have a $30 game for $5 or something :bouncy: ) and just the overall hunt and experience, then getting home and getting to open everything up. Just talking about it makes me :drool: This week was dry for deals, but I know next week will be better, and just gives me more excitement and things to look forward, to. Now I just need to get into a schedule and figure out how the deals work around me so I can get even more!

Notes.

  1. TV Deals are smoking hot if you can find them. I can not search for you guys as my terminal only reaches my 5 closest stores.
  2. For TV deals you are suppose to get 10% off display models, and always ask for the remote.
  3. 1NintendoFan and anyone else. If the item is not stickered properly KMART MUST SELL YOU THE ITEM AT THE STICKERED PRICE. Do not let them squirm out of it. As a manager myself, I stress everyday to my crew on making sure items are stickered properly. As long as you can prove that it is mispriced they must sell it to you. I'm actually a little miffed that you didn't get the adapter for $10. F8ck that.

Thanks for the update, Kay. There was only one store with the 37" Olevia in my area and it was an hour's drive. I doubt any of my local stores have any of those tv's left, but you never know. I'll probably check tomorrow when I take a trek to a further store while on a road trip looking for a PS1/PS2 to PS3 controller adapter at a further away Gamestop.

Hopefully I can snag a copy of XBlades:ps3: from the one close Kmart, since I'm almost outta GS credit and they want like $27 used for it still.
