10% off coupon, YMMV:

OK, here's the latest Kmart clearance thread. 99% of the info taken from ShiningSlade's last Kmart clearance thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=93304

and from the most recent follow-up by gotech:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=127659

(with the other 1% from my own receipts ;)).

Three important notes (please read these before posting questions):

1) Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

2) Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

3) These prices will not show up on the kmart.com web site. Don't even bother.

Explanation of pricing list

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Color Scheme

90% off games (the lowest they will go before they drop out)
Maybe it's something that a Kmart employee should verify, but I believe that (according to a friend's mom, who was once a store manager at a local Kmart).. they have to manually scan the clearance prices into their store computer using the Kmart equivalent of a Telezon. So.. that would mean that clearance prices depend upon the frequency of the store/department manager checking emails and updating prices.

The bad news? We all know the likelihood of the average Kmart manager to care about that sort of thing..
This is true. They do have to manually update the system with the clearance prices, and they are still using the really archaic "override" system in which every time something rings up the wrong price at the register, they have to manually print it up on an "override sheet". I used to work at kmart and I am sure this system goes back I do not know how many years, but its a long time. As long as I have been shopping in retail stores I have never seen any store that used an "override sheet" for mispriced items at the register. Also a manager is required for EVERY mis-priced item found at the registers (even if its a 10 cent difference), which can lead to backed up lines because there is usually at least one mis-priced item per every transaction. Again, I have never seen this at any other retail store, if there is a price discrepency and its small at target and walmart they just give it to you automatically and its a seamless process for the cashier to adjust a price. This is the reason why there are so many mis-priced items in the store, everything is updated manually so if there is one of an item in stock, it can be easily missed.

But for some reason almost every item that was on clearance for me was ringing up correctly even with the 30% off, I guess kmart really wants to get rid of that 5-10 year old clearance inventory pretty bad!

The stores here are not as bad as some, we do not have 5-10 year old N64 games lying around or signs explaining how to hook up an old console, but they do have a huge nintendo display case where they keep the dvd's. The GBA and DS games (the most popular selling games) are shoved in a corner which is overlapping a poster display and the DS games are all thrown at the bottom of the cabinet in a pile, so you can hardly see what is there no matter what.

This is basically correct, but not everything needs a manager's override now. I'm relatively sure it's department-based. For instance, you can do pretty much what you want to anything in pantry (food/drinks). Items $100 or more still require a manager override no matter the discount, along with other flagged items (cameras among other things).

Aside from that, a smart (read non-existent) employee memorizes the manager override numbers and just types them in and moves on with his/her day.
You in Chicago? Which Kmart did you go to? I want to check another Kmart and I'd like to stay away from the one you went to...
Nope, this was at the Hayward, CA Kmart.

I was at a Kmart in Wisconsin lastnight and came across:

Disgaea 2 (PS2)- $25
Rogue Galaxy(PS2) - $20
Kameo (360)- $15
Prey(360) - $15
Point Blank (NDS)- $20
Chrome Hounds(360) - $15
Phantasy Star Universe(360) - $15
Superman Returns(360) - $20

I just picked up Superman for me and my son to play and they also had Viva Pinata Faceplates for $2. They had other games but I cant remember them all....

Stopped at one on my way home. :whistle2:| And Found a.........

led_zeppelinNADA.jpg

Prices were still too high on lots of things. I could have had a brand new sealed PS1 Multitap for $18 on clearance, however. Plenty of XBox Live kits for $42, which is about $20 more than I want to spend, because I'm a cheapass....

Nothing in that magical $5 range that gets me all happy.....

This is true, I don't know why they don't memorize the code, its just like 5 numbers, I probably could have memorized it just from standing there and watching the transaction. The item I was getting a price check on was a 70 cent bottle of white out reduced from 2.49... and it still required a manufacturers override.
it still required a manufacturers override.
Damn, that must have been one hell of a wait for customer.

I wonder where thay all went? Does anyone know where K-Mart dumps all of it's un-sold items?

We were on a road trip the past few weeks... every Kmart I visited in Dearborn and Grand Rapids area had next to nothing as far as handheld titles....actually very little video games all together compared to the mess at the NJ stores.
Disgaea 2 for $25...buy now or wait for another drop?
leave it alone but check everyweek to see if the price changed. youre only saving $4 off msrp of $29.99. thats not much of a deal.
Disgaea 2 for $25...buy now or wait for another drop?
I may be wrong, but I think it's 16.96 at Circuit City now.
My K-mart has just completely renovated and now has basically no PS2, Xbox, GC, or GBA games. It's weird.
That's weird, especially since many people are still playing those platforms. No last-gen Christmas game sales for them, I guess.
I may be wrong, but I think it's 16.96 at Circuit City now.
That price is correct, but they've been sold out for a few months now, with only a few lucky people across the country being able to find a copy somewhat recently.
I may be wrong, but I think it's 16.96 at Circuit City now.
It is that price at CC but good luck finding it I think that sale was back in June.. you may find one still if its on the rack at regular price seeing people have mentioned hundreds of times that they are marked full but will ring up at the sale price and people are still confussed and pass it up..

I'm still shocked that apparently now TWO of my local stores have eliminated or sold off all their clearance games. The cases went from being giant unmanagable messes with no order to them whatsoever, to being more than half empty and with only handfuls of PS2/Xbox/GC games.

Either someone came through during the 30% off with a massive list and cleaned them all out or.......they just dumped the clearance games off on someone else, since the few clearance titles I still found at one of them were few and far between.
^It's highly possible that they have the games in their backroom somewhere. I don't think they "dump" them anywhere.
I don't know. A while ago an employee told me they were getting rid of their clearance games (don't know exactly how). Of course, it didn't happen but he did mention it.

I found a small treasure trove in the Indiana, PA Kmart today. Phantasy Star, Kameo, PDZ and a few other 360s for $15. I ended up with Phantasy Star since my CC didn't have any and I already have the rest of the games. I also scored a Viva Pinata faceplate for $2, last one.

Duuude, same here in Richmond. Even the dumpy KMarts that had tons of crummy clearance games from spring suddenly dried up. I'm thinking they sold some off to liquidators.

They must've, since the two stores that I could usually count on for multiple clearance titles(none of which I'd want) have cleared out most of their stuff.

Only decent stuff left was a PS2 version Mercenaries(still stuck @ $15 or so, I checked) and one or two PSP games.

Although, maybe I should check Rise Of The Kasai, which is perpetually stuck @ $21, maybe IT is finally dropping in price again?

Just got back from my local Kmart (Rockford, IL. on State St.) and had two young guys do some price checks, all for Xbox360. Call of Duty 2 came up $30 but I was able to score Kameo and PDZ for $10.50 each. I also grabbed Prey because it rang up $7.50 instead of the $10.50 as reported. They had other copies of the games I bought as well as Tomb Raider: Legend which I did not have scanned but I can't imagine that it wouldn't be $10.50 or less.
I love that particular Kmart. All the Xbox360 games are marked $50 and most are book-cased so you can only see the spines. Even if they were marked correctly you would have to find someone to open the case which more often than not is a pain in the ass. This Kmart also seems to updated clearance prices religiously on the day that they hit. The manager over there must actual give a crap.

Kmart must have done something with the games (moved to another store, online or who knows) I know I was talking to a guy last week and he was telling me that it's the same way at his Kmart with barely having any last gen games (PS2, Xbox, GC) This is at the Kmart in Wysox if you've ever been to that store IATCG.

Check out a local Kmart today as well (Beaver Falls, PA) and scored Blue 360 faceplate for 2.00 and I found Conker: Live and Reloaded :D for 20.00. They also had the intercooler/battery charger thing for 15 and the viva pinata faceplate for 2 (but I already found those in the Butler, PA Kmart.) Also did a price check on Tomb Raider Legend and it was 15. So all around not to bad of a day.
Checked some prices today:

:360: Star Trek Legacy - $20

:ps2:

Disgaea 2 - $25

Tourist Trophy is *finally* a GH title so it should be dropping again very shortly.

My local one had two 20 gig 360 Harddrives for 50 bucks each, drop me a line if you want to paypal me some money for it + shipping.

Not sure if they're on sale/clearance at EVERY Kmart across the country, but I found some mailing supplies for DIRT CHEAP last night at a local Kmart(Route 309 in Wilkes Barre Township, PA).

Here's what I got(all USPS standard stuff):

2x 5 pack premium poly bubble mailers(outside dimensions- 8" x 11.625") .99 each pack

3x USPS CD single mailers @ .24 each

1x USPS 2 pack tape 'guns' with tape(those plastic tape guns which the post office wants, and I paid, $6 for) @ $1.37

They also have various bubble wrap and poly sheets for shipping/moving for super cheap too. I'll try to post links to something similar if not identical to what I got.

LOL Where haven't I been for the auctions and as a result dropped in on various retail stores to check what they have. What I laugh about is that the Schuylkill Mall Kmart seemed to close for about 3-6 months and a Sears Brand Central was created somewhere around the mall from what I recall. But, when I was headed to Gettysburg in June, I hit the Schuylkill Mall while going down 81 and the Kmart was back open and the SBC had closed.

They only had a few clearance games when I checked in June, none really worth mentioning. Now, on the other hand, my local stores were treasure troves, but have been cleaned out recently. Weird....

I checked the Martinsburg, WV location last week and, while they still had last-gen titles, they were all recent releases except for a little tiny clearance rack in front of the electronics section. Though I don't check it regularly, I'd imagine this place also dumped most of their clearance stock as I used to come here and find all kinds of crazy-old stuff (multiple copies of FFVII only a year ago).

 I love that Sears and KMart merger. "If we combine our stupidity, we can create one giant supernova of a failed corporation."

I think my Kmart dumped all of its stuff at sears. What's amazing about Kmart buying sears is Kmart had less money but they took another loan to buy them. Real s-m-r-t.
Sears is where I got my only find, a Game Boy Micro. I'd image there woulda been other stuff but I didn't check.
Forgot to post this last week:

723755890763 Motorola Gaming Headset X205 (XBOX 360) - $3.50
The Kmart employee that priced that headset must've been a bitter Steelers fan...

fwiw I tried that headset from Sears for $8 and it didn't work properly. I could plug it into my cell phone and hear people (and it was good quality, loud & clear) but the mic wouldn't work. On 360 neither the mic or the speaker worked. It was comfortable, but bulky. Sorry I can't comment on quality since I just took it back, wasn't worth the hassle of trying the other one they had in stock.

I have the headset and it works great! I even bought a adapter to use it on other things. My kids also use this to play on the DS system. Well worth the $3.50 and the $2.99 adapter.

I went to Kmart yesterday. I grabbed FFVI for GBA for 15 bucks, and then I noticed that Rogue Galaxy was in the bargain bin but was listed for full price, so I decided to have it price checked and it came up as 20 bucks, so I grabbed that too.

I don't think I saw RG on the OP list, so you might wanna add it.

No one bought the other. It was a merger.

The owner of >51% of sears bought more than 51% of Kmart Stock, then combined the corps, and sold off some kmarts to pay for his costs. Then, the newly issued stock took off.

Actually, quite brilliant.

Did you get FFVI or FFIV for $15? It would be nice to finally get FFVI at that price! :)

When I was at K-Mart, i got 4 for $15 and saw 6 for $30. Most likely he meant 4 but switched the IV
