[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

This is just too insane how just mysteriously, out of the blue, with no prior notification or explanation, the main K-Mart insider disappears in the the blue, but then another, more powerful one just pops up but not one day later. Mysterious...and awesome!

fuck. My Kmart actually has their games arranged neatly in alphabetical order with the spines facing out so you could see what they have without opening the glass cages.
 
SHC Gamer, Thanks for supporting the CAGs! Recommendation for the list put in order of systems 1st then lowest to highest in price. (Get one of your assistants to do it;)) Also an official price would be much better then an average price because we could drive to the store and find out that this isn't actually the price resulting in a waste of gas and time. I know you recommended calling but obviously the employees won't want to price check 10 games on the phone.

Also I seen about 5 copies of Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, and Enchanted Arms at my local Kmart and would love to pick up a new copy (for collector's purpose), I already own a copy of each of these games but would gladly purchase another for $10 to $20 bucks.

Variations occur when stuff goes out of stock at a store, I imagine. That would be their last known price, so adding that to an average is what gives such numbers.

The only way to give you an 'official' price is doing it store by store. And that wouldn't be too rewarding for him. Just because he works at corporate level doesn't mean all of our legwork is cut out.
 
SHC gamer, first of all thank you so much for making an account to help us out as well as kmart, Kmart used to be my favorite department store until around 2002 when they started looking really depressing from the inside. It's kind of like going into a Walmart two years after a nuclear holocaust happened and that's your last source of getting supplies.

Anyways, my main problem with Kmart's video game section is what everyone else has mentioned- really old games being marked at full price. I don't get why guitar hero 2 bundles cost more than the most recent guitar hero bundle costs at other stores. And (at my kmart at least) who would pay full retail price for the original "Scene It" bundle? What really makes me cry is the really awesome looking "Enchanted Arms" collector's edition that's somehow still $60 at my Kmart, and so old that it's not even sold at competitor's stores anymore so I can't put a different price to compare it to.

Basically, make the games a lot more easier to look through and preferably in some kind of order, mark down older games to decent prices, and do anything at all to encourage electronics employees to not just dick around the store all day and not help anyone out. Every time I go to kmart, I have to track down the electronics person, who usually is chilling out in a different department talking to other employees. Thanks again man, and most likely I didn't say anything no one else has said-just putting my 2 cents in.
 
Found a copy of "The Last Remnant" for $5. Guys eyes bugged out. He went to look for a copy for himself. He said, "For $6, i'll buy anything". haha

Case in point from towards the bottom of the list

I'd prefer the lowest clearance price or the clearance price is at at most stores. But having either of those & the avg price would be great. SHC-Gamer can you say anything about games being priced so low that they do not sell them, is there a way to be able to buy them for a low price when you can't find an employee that knows how to do that?
 
I'd prefer a range of prices like, 19.99 - 5.00. Regardless any information is helpful though, because as long as we know which games are on clearance then we can know which ones to have price checked at the store or which ones to scan UPC's for instead of just asking.

I also like the idea of a secret shopper program for CAG's.

I haven't had them question me over here about games that were priced really low yet but I am pretty sure NY state has a law stating that if something rings up at the register lower than the stickered price that they cannot mark up the price at the register to the stickered price (of course this doesn't apply to membership clubs as I have been told here). Out of the system toys and games are a problem as we should be getting them for the correct price instead of the usually higher stickered price if they are left on the shelves but I don't find those scattered around often anymore.

But that's why kay's lists were better, since it was information coming from an employee at an actual store and not an 'average price based on stock across the chain' as some of those prices on SHC's list are.

The only ones that I saw from the list that were anywhere near the actual clearance price currently available in store were the $29.97 Singstar standalone editions that just started clearancing recently.

Yes a range of prices would be the very best option esp if it had # of stores per price or just ranked top to bottom by availability, but whatever he can provide beyond avg price would be great.
 
Has anyone been able to find MLB 09 The Show on PS3 for $5-10? At the KMart in Diamond Bar, CA, it was in the clearance bin marked $9.99, but it was ringing up as $39.99. When I went to purchase it, the manager claimed that since it had a $39.99 sticker also on it, that it was full price. I told her all the other games had the original and the clearance stickers on them and she accused me of putting that clearance sticker on it from another game. After I clean house of the local KMarts, I'm done with them, especially after the $10 off $20 coupon fiasco.
 
Damn my Kmart doesn't even have a clearance bin, they just put the clearance stuff mixed in with all the $19.99 & under. I guess that can be a good thing.

My Kmart is the same. They had a shelf near the register loaded with games. I looked through them today but I thought they were still too expensive to be (what I considered) clearance. To me, clearance means the company is taking a loss or breaking even to get rid of inventory that they can't sell. Based on the games I looked through, my local Kmart apparently considers clearance to be putting a 19.99 sticker on a game. This sticker price will at best match Best Buy's current price for whatever shovelware that game happens to be. about 80% of the time I was looking through the games I was chuckling and/or going "Pfftt".
 
I found a copy of :360: Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball 2, but they wouldn't sell it to me. It made me a sad panda. :cry:

...I also picked up :ps3: X-Blades, but I didn't notice it rang up to $15. (I was buying other stuff too) I guess I'll have to return it.

Yep- Same here. And its the same damn 30-40 games that have been sitting there for 6 months now. The yellowed stickered clearance items are almost non-existant. No Joke: EA Sports: Head Coach for the XBOX has been on that shelf for almost 2 years with the yellow price tag- no ones bitting at the 4.99 price point.
 
The two Kmarts I hit up last week for some clearance games seemed a bit cleared out last night, though I still saw stacks of Dark Sector for PS3 behind other games at the first Kmart.

I also saw a Scene It: BOS at the second one at the bottom of the 360 case. I was gonna pick it up in case someone here wanted it, but since it's not marked clearance I figure it's safe until I find out what kind of demand there is for it.

Yea, I feel the same way. One time when I was at another store (Sears) and saw the clearance section, it was loaded with GH titles that are $19.99 everywhere. I asked him where the clearance games were, and he pointed to that section (which, I should add, didn't have any true clearance values, at least on 360/PS3). I told him that if I was gonna pay $20 for a game that's $20 everywhere, I'd goto best buy so I could at least get rz points.

And why have a clearance section that's not really clearance? That's just lying to customers hoping to make a sale off impulse (as opposed to value).

Before I came on Forza 2 was put in clearance and I brought it back in from Microsoft for our value games section.

The multi packs sell really well during the holiday as stocking stuffers and though I cannot give our exact plan on these titles there is an exit strategy.

We actually brought in the figurines for our pre-order deal (I believe it was in ad 2/28). We assigned a value to them which then generated a credit for customers looking to buy a Pokemon title when it released.

Hey bud - thanks for the kudos. We have over 1300 Kmart locations and over 700 Sears stores with gaming merchandise.

Often clearance pricing segments stores into various groups based upon various factors which is why I placed the effective store count in the price list; hope it helps! I'll definitely format it better next time.

Thanks for the great feedback; never cut out the hard stuff just to spare my feelings. You're right in every account and we'll do our best to turn it around. It will take time, which totally goes against my personality (not really the most patient guy in the world), but when we do fix it on a large scale I can't wait until the norm is a positive one.

I can't describe the "too low" price point strategy, but the store is correct in that they are not supposed to sell them. There is a process once the title hits this particular retail range.

The clearance and value games should in no way be mixed together specifically for the reasons you brought up. There is dedicated space in every section for clearance gaming to go to; looks like we need to make some adjustments as we must not be providing clear direction for the stores to execute this properly.

If you're talking about SvR 08/09 for the PS3, they have copies of 08 at the one Kmart I'm going to be going back to in a bit. Hopefully, they've FINALLY done their updates, as all of the $4.97 games were still $9.97 when I was there two weeks ago.

They had about 4-6 copies of SvR08 when I was there, so hopefully they're still there.

For the amount of stores games are included in clearance on your list, I'm assuming that's out of the 1300 Kmart locations, not including the 700 Sears. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

Yeah, just to point out that that is not just an issue at his store- it's my Kmart as well. The value games and clearance games are always mixed together. I've discovered clearance games behind the glass case with MSRP games and mixed in with value games on a seperate shelf.

And one quick note- I almost didn't get my copy of Just Cause 2 because I didn't see it at first buried with older games at the bottom of the glass case. It was sitting next to a copy of Kane and Lynch- no new game should have to deal with that.

Also, 2 Copies of Dance Dance Revolution w/dance pad for the Original Xbox is still $49.99 at my store. I've been staring at it in the back of the bottom of the case for the last 2 Christmas' (Not Joking)- see what you can do- lol- I'm sorry I can go on all day with this- you have a long, hard journey ahead of you- good luck, man. :cool:
 
It turns out that employee who wouldn't let me personally check the case last week to see which games were in the second row of PS3 games was lying. I went back to the one I hit last week and I found 2 copies of XBlades:ps3:, 1-3 copies of Dark Sector:ps3:, 3 copies of SvR08:ps3:(I picked up one), 2 copies of SvR09:ps3: and about 5-6 copies(not counting the 3 I returned last night)of Last Remnant:360:.

They also had a lone copy of Twilight Princess for :gc: with indentation marks on the front cover that I picked up for $5 too.

Since it was so close to when they were closing I didn't wanna try and dig around in the Wii case, but the one employee told me they have three rows(one in front of the other)of Wii games in the Wii case.

So this store may have gone from having a drought of clearance games back to being the goldmine they were in 2006-2007 again.

Nope. Their model numbers are varied by one letter. I found this same model at my store and got excited to be put down by those letters.

Lucky. All the games are on display here, so there's not too much left. Just some PS3 sports games.

Damn right. Though the closest Kmart to me really used to be my goldmine back in the day. I was following their clearance schedule since before I was on CAG, but their cases seem to only have more recent stuff and no really older clearance titles anymore.

Then again, I keep asking them if they shuffled some stuff in the back, since this same store used to have a cartload of stuff sitting back there collecting dust. It's where the three HD-DVD drives for the 360 came from that I bought when they brought them out. A fellow CAG came down my way the one night and when they brought out that cart, I nearly passed out. They had some good Xbox stuff on there(Psychonauts, which I grabbed)and just a ton of other stuff that I had never seen there.

This was the same Kmart that had a 60gb PS3 up until just a bit over a year ago sitting in their case buried in the back.:cry: But I had it checked and prior to the price drop it was still coming up $500-600.
 
While I hear a lot of complaints in here, I just want to say that the Grand Forks, ND store is well-organized. There is one row of games in the glass cases that are alphabetized. Clearance games have been removed and properly marked, for the most part. So it's not all bad news for every Kmart store.
