Rather than make changes below and have new stuff get lost amongst the really old clearance prices, I'm just making a new list up top but keeping the old list below. Who knows, you might still find something tagged with the prices in the older list so it's worth keeping around. Most of the current list is here thanks to kaydigi.

OK, here's the latest Kmart clearance thread.

Three important notes (please read these before posting questions):

1) Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

2) Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

3) These prices will not show up on the kmart.com web site. Don't even bother.

Old list:
Explanation of pricing list

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Color Scheme
New additions verified by CAGs
New additions reported by one member (needs verification)
90% off games (the lowest they will go before they drop out)
* - Denotes original Xbox games playable on the Xbox 360
(spoiler tag messes up colors so just ignore all this ;)).

and finally...

Is this "MAP" why Heavenly Sword (PS3) is consistantly priced at $50+ even after 3 years? And did "Just Cause 2" not go against MAP? Or where you able to do it because its just a AA title?

Just knowing that, makes me feel a little better about why and how games are priced the way they are.

Definitely keep doing B1G1, B2G1, B1G150% but please do no restrict them (at least some of the time). When you restrict them 99.9% of the time I'm not interested. Let me pick up the cheap titles I want and buy 2 or 3 of them from you at a time while others do the same or get 3 newer titles from you.
Honestly, if it were going to be anything other than free, Kmart would need to have a much better selection of games than it does now. I was willing to pay for ECA for the Amazon discount because Amazon has just about everything that's in print available. I (grudgingly) paid for my GameStop Edge card because I was already going save half of the cost of it with the Edge discount on a purchase I was making in a B2G1 sale anyway, and I figured I'd at least make up the other half before the year was out since they frequently have rare/out-of-print titles used. You would really have to have a selection like those places to make paying for a membership worth it, though -- otherwise, I can find sales that match most discounts any membership would give me (case in point -- when I briefly had an FYE membership, I still found myself getting most of my games elsewhere for better prices than I would have gotten them for at FYE).

But Kmart? Honestly, I can't remember the last time that I actually bought a game there (well, other than that copy of NBA Ballers that I picked up for $1.97 at one point last year because I figured that any game was probably worth $2 -- boy was I wrong, at least until I flipped it for $5 later). I'm just not convinced that things are going to change completely enough to make paying for a membership worthwhile.

But yeah, I do have to say that Best Buy's (free) Reward Zone program gets me to shop there a good bit more than I probably would otherwise. Their program would be a good one to base a model on, if it's feasible.
I agree I'd find it very hard to pay for a rewards program at Kmart. But I can very well see them making it paid so I just meant if it is a paid program don't make it over $10-15, and if you do so give us a magazine membership at least. But I agree with everything you said.
I think free is the right way to go as well. Only way I would charge anything is if we had a magazine subscription tied with it. Is that worth it or should it be skipped?
That right there is already a step in the right direction. No charge unless you get a mag, but free is better than mag. CAGs here already got themselves mag subcriptions from GS's Edge as well as deals at Amazon to get mags for like $5 a year.
Yeah, I agree. We'll pursue the free route.
Sweet. I just imagined your hands being tied up with executives demanding that it not be free and that "we'll throw in a magazine" to make it "worth it" like so many other stores/promos have done over the years.
/\ This, as an employee and a CAG, I would never join a Kmart "Gamers" Club (unless prices kicked the crap out of Gamestop (which they won't)).

Kmart should just stick to low-balling their competitors with sales on single games. Don't offer ridiculous programs that will either be too ineffective, or reduce game profits to nothing. This is saying however that Kmart is NOT trying hard enough with their sales. In the last sixth months of working at Kmart I've not made a single gaming purchase (even with my discount (10%)). Sales that interest me are in clearance items that are lost in translation. To make this gimmicky gamers club isn't a good idea for either side and reminds me of the Shop Your Way Reward card. 1% is nothing, 5% is substantial but would likely cut into profits. Likewise 5% is nothing, 10-15% is substantial but would likely cut into profits. I say don't waste the time, just improve your sale prices while improving the interior of stores. And please, please don't make a SYWR card 2.0
Part of the rewards program I think they're planning would be giving coupons on specific games, which would be low-balling on single games. Since inventory of specific games at Kmart can be low, coupons are great because there's a chance you could get the game when you go in. If it's just sales, you will strike out most of the time and waste your time. Now if they can improve each year in sales then maybe they can get enough stock to have amazing sales and be able to have enough inventory for everyone.
shc. i have three questions
1. how many kmarts are there
2. why is mlb 2k9 for 360 and ps3 still 29.99 at 4 different stores i went too
3. are clearence games controlled by corperate or stores by themselfs
I'm fairly sure I have these correct for you, so here is that, until SHC gets back on.
1. over 1300 Kmarts & 700 Sears with gaming merchandise.
2. Probably based on inventory in that store, i.e. not many copies left.
3. I think corporate decides but they base it on a store's inventory.
This off-topic stuff is probably good, but not for this forum. It's actually getting somewhat annoying. I wish a mod would step in and move some of this discussion elsewhere. I come here to see what is on clearance at Kmart, not for all this other ancillary stuff.
Maybe SHC-Gamer could start a Kmart FAQ/customer relations thread. Anyways here is the only clearance info you would have missed out on outside the OP due to OTness:
Past the last clearance about a month ago, there hasn't been a new gaming clearance for like...what? 6 months. You'll live :D But yeah, another topic would be nice.

I suggest B2G1s be unrestricted, I would have bought some titles with those deals, especially if my discount would have been allowed. But that's me. I think the console deals are nice, and should be standard (honestly, keep them going as long as you can). If people consistently see Kmart as the low price for consoles, they'll keep the company in mind. I think more instances of Just Cause 2 need to happen. Low ball the crap out of some titles. Have like 5 (of that title) in stock, and people flooding the place just for those titles. I'm fine with telling customers we're sold out, if we had stock....I just hate telling them we're sold out, we were shipped nothing (which happens sometimes).

I honestly believe if you can consistently use a single loss leader each week, you could definitely turn things around...While managing all of Kmart's other daunting issues that is.

On a side note...I'm so fucking close to putting the shelves back in place because people are too lazy to alphabetize. Shoot me, please!

i do agree this kmart complaints/suggestions should branch off to a new thread with shc just coming into this one to update the clearance items. he has some great info but its just so much reading it hurts my small brain.

Honestly I don't see the big deal as the OP has been updated. As long as the OP is updated you can simply reference that and not worry about what people are discussing in the thread

I hear you and have been only skimming the Kmart thread lately but unfornately has been proven time and time again that off topic talk starts and stays in the deals forum.

It's understandable that off topic stuff is going to come up but it does seem to get worse on CAG as time goes on. If a mod did come in and move/delete all of the improving Kmart talk they would have their work cut out for them and it surely wouldn't be worth the trouble.

I got lucky today & found Star Ocean: The Last Hope at my local K-Mart (Clovis,CA). They had them locked up, but was able to find them in the case pretty easy. This location has really cleaned up their locked case as of late. They actually came up with a solution by placing UPC stickers with the name of the game in the actual row that they are in. For one row of games in the case, there are usually 2 to 3 games per row.

I have to give kudos for the selection as well. They had Resonance of Fate for both platforms in stock, along with Yakuza 3 as well. After being unable to find Resonance of Fate at my 2 local BB locations after launch, its nice to see K Mart step it up a little. I know Target would not even sniff near these two titles, much less stock them.

I haven't been to Kmart in a long time since mine never has any clearance games, but when I stopped by for JC2 last week I found X-Blades for $5... yippee. They still have a copy of Persona 3(reg version) sitting behind the glass, still probably retail price.

Everyone that's bitching about OT is extremely short sighted.

There's a Kmart rep answering our questions and giving us insight into pricing and clearance. Instead of actually trying to learn something that might be to your advantage in how to get future deals, you people are complaining because it's "OT" and it means that deal drops aren't wrapped in a nice tidy package for you to go to the local kmart with.

Seriously?

Maybe you people can learn something about how retail/ pricing/etc works for once.

Well said. If the K-Mart finds this thread no longer useful for him/her, they'll leave and take with them advanced knowledge of upcoming clearanced games.
Hey...I try to keep my fuck in order in my department...Is it really my fault for not wanting to stare at a ceiling all night?

But yeah, once I leave my job for a higher paying one (hopefully very soon), I'm putting the shelving system back to what it was. I'm tired of organizing the cases on a daily basis because other employees can't comprehend the alphabetical system. Going to laugh when it's a pile of games thrown inside the case and I'm hoarding cheap games from the shit-hole that is my local K-Mart.
What do you do when there isn't room for them all? Like at my nearest store, there's about 6 rows hanging, then usually three rows laying spine up on the floor below them, and usually more rows stacked on top of them to where you can't see the first rows on the floor, depending on system. DS is the worst, Wii and 360 have that problem a bit too.

I've always thought, if I worked at Kmart, I'd figure out a neat and orderly way of making them all viewable.

You know, I've also thought about this. There's a lot of depth in those cases. All you gotta do is double stack titles in the DS case.

Sorry so late but Target in my area does take returns without a receipt but I think they have to be under $20 for electronics and maybe $40 for other items and you probably only get one non receipt return per year. Each target seems to vary on this as I have heard reports of some targets not allowing any returns at all without receipts.

Walmart definitely takes returns without a receipt, also they take back pretty much everything.

I try to avoid returning when possible at any store because I just find I get grief for it regardless of where, so I might make one return per year out of all my shopping. I only return stuff if I really have to.

Heavenly Sword is definitely off MAP and we'll need to find a way to discount it. Just Cause 2 was definitely the exception to the rule in terms of street date pricing. I can't give their names but there a couple of publishers who do not use MAP.

Ahh, Heavenly Sword.. Still $60 at my local Kmart. I would have happily picked it up at $20, but alas.. $60 is just too much to pay for a game, let alone one that's at least a year old. Between that and Ninja Gaiden, there should be some sort of limit on games. Hell, Target clears them out if they've been there longer than 6 months. What's the shelf life on a game, if there is one, at kmart before it hits the bin?

Enemy Territory Quake Wars was $60 at my Kmart... It's probably been there since it came out almost 2 years ago for the ps3/360 :p. Too bad my store had no items on clearance, checked the price on a few.

half.com (type in the game in the search box, and the upc is in the paragraph under the price, copy the upc #)

go to upcdatabase.com (on the left click on "look up" and then enter the UPC #)

please note - some upc's have already been looked up, meaning titled for you already, with some upc's u might have to fill out name, date, etc etc

That's the thing, its not just K-mart. In the world of game pricing its one of the great mysteries. It's still $56.82 at Wal-mart, $59.99 at Target- just look at the prices listed on Bing Shopping!!

My area's set up as such...

6 rows of games that are labeled with prices by the companies...Below that I attempted to notch down the shelves giving myself about 2 feet of viewing space for all of the titles....I then added half-shelves to the spaces, to give myself more rows for games. So really, with the single case for Wii games, I've three shelves, one mid-height of the other two. I somewhat combined the 360 and PS3 cases together to give it a more open feel...I'd like to have it set up differently, but since consoles need to be placed below these shelves...They're messed up somewhat. However, everything is viewable and readable by the public. Far better than the mess it was in when I started.

Maybe you people can learn something about how retail/ pricing/etc works for once.
Wow. Is it 2012 already? I agree with you for once.:applause:

SHC-Gamer, any chance there could be a way for us to check stock online?

The last couple times I went to Sears(not Kmart, they were fine) the people working there insisted that everything was on the floor and didn't want to check the computer for me. Then when I did get them to check with the UPS and info I provided for them, I was told it was out of system by one (I don't think he even checked for me, he just pretended to push a couple buttons) but the next one told me he couldn't check stock at other stores.
My local Walmart did away with the locking "glass window" cases entirely, and switched to individual locking plastic cases for each game. Not sure if Kmart could do that, but it's one possibility to consider.
Those cases are absolutely horrible. After time they become scuffed to shit and you can't scan games in the scanners at all. One of my Toys R Us and all my Shopkos uses these. It is a major pain in the ass to take them to a counter, have an associate use their time to open and scan them for me when I would happily just use the aisle scanners myself.

If you can get cases that leave UPCs uncovered I am all for them, otherwise -as John Matrix would say, No deal.

Saw a copy of Madworld for $4.97 at my local KMart. Really wish I wouldn't have bought a copy over the summer for $30....Ultimately decided to pass on it since it's not worth flipping and wouldn't be particularly valuable trade fodder.

My brain just imploded from everything that has happened since last time I checked this thread. Though having a actually Kmart rep around that actually is trying to fix things is beyond awesome.

Except that the list of clearance titles they gave us included an 'average price across the chain', as opposed to the price that it should be if all stores universally did their damned updates.

But I guess that info is better than no info at all.

SHC-Gamer -- here's another thought that's somewhat OT from game clearance, but still related to getting people in the store for games...

I'd probably be checking in at Kmart more often if the rest of the departments updated clearance prices as regularly as you do for games. Although I'll be sure to be in the store at least once a month to check on prices for games if there are any in the current clearance batch that I'm interested in, I'm much less likely to browse for clearance items in other departments. The reason: 9 out of 10 times that I check, everything stays the same price (case in point, there are towel bars that have been marked down from $20 to $16 for almost a year at most of the stores around here). If I knew that other departments were regularly marking things down, I'd probably check the rest of the store and stop in even if there weren't any games that I was interested in.
Tons of MSRP, can't remember them all. The highlight was

Saboteur $19.99 (both systems)
Interesting. Now if only the EA Store had dropped Saboteur to $20 this morning when I did my order using that Recycle Bank code for $15 off $20. I'd gladly pay $5 for Pandemic's 'swan song'(and good riddance to them after the glitchfest known as Mercenaries 2).

I'm guessing kay won't be posting extensive lists of recent price drops but will probably just post the notable ones.

Either way I'm happy to see her still post every once in a while.

Agreed. I'm relatively new here and the news of her taking leave bummed me out as well.

Mercs 2 was glitchy but at least it was fun, unlike the dog vomit that was LOTR: Conquest.

Saboteur was completely glitch free on my playthrough though, good game.

Then I should have tried for both codes this morning on the EA Store to try and bring Saboteur down to $10-15 as part of a 2-3 game order instead of ordering 9 games, 5 of which I just plan on flipping to a local shop for $5-6 each to make my order completely free.;)

In Kmart related news, I hit up the one local goldmine store and I grabbed two out of their SIX Scene It: Box Office Smash bundles for the 360.

It's a friggin' heavy box, but if anyone wants one I could do it for cost+shipping(probably priority mail flat rate small box w/ DC cuz I don't feel like dicking around with packing this heavy box) and maybe $1-3 extra for time/gas.

Do you have Star Ocean for the 360?
Do you have Star Ocean for the 360?
I did have a copy at one point, but I either returned it and it got snapped up or I flipped it to GS for $15 something. I really forget which. But I can get up to 8-9 copies of Last Remnant, since this store has that many of them.

The one employee was kinda shocked when I pulled out the two Scene It bundles and he price checked them and they came up $5.:D That never gets old. I just hope that a manager doesn't notice all of the $5 games on the next markdown and demand they price shit right cuz this store is one of my goldmines again.:applause:
Which scene it bundle?
It would be BOS (Box Office Smash - Red Box)

LCA (Lights Camera Action - Blue Box) is still normal price.
