Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:

I'm not. We're Cheap! We're Gamers! We're BACAGgers!

On a sad note: RIP, former EBgames Serramonte. Even after GameStop rolled you, you kept the atmosphere that made it a pleasure to shop, unlike most GameStops where I leave needing a shower. You will be missed.

Anyone going to the Capcom Lost Planet 2 thing tomorrow/Tuesday? It started out as invite-only but I believe it's now open to anyone.

Are there any gaming events coming to Nor Cal soon? I know Evo will be in LV in July, but are we getting nothing in these next couple of weeks/months?
I'm currently attending WonderCon pretty awesome convention!!:)
Just skimmed the WonderCon website and everything looks very comic-related. What's the gaming content? (other than maybe showing games about comic properties like Spider Man, Iron Man, etc.)

Just checked the programming...there were panels for Capcom, Halo, Spiderman Shattered Dimension, and video game design. It's also very movie/tv related, so my main draw is being in the same room as people like McLovin, Gerard Butler, Tobey Maguire, Lena Headey, that girl from 10,000 BC, etc. The cast of Chuck will be there tomorrow. :D

I was there today and pretty much sat through all the panels in the big ballroom. Most of the panels are pretty good and entertaining. I now actually want to see most of those movies they were showing today. Definitely worth the $12 I paid.
Hey guys, anyone know of a good place to go paintballing? My girl's bday is about a month away and thats what she wants to do for a group activity. After doing some research online a whole bunch of places closed so some personal recommendations would be great.
I've never been but I've heard good things about the Sunol range in the Fremont hills http://sunolpaintball.com/ . I live in Fremont so I've had friends who've played there and enjoyed it. It's all outdoors and from what I understand it's a pretty big playing field too, as opposed to a lot of the indoor ones. Sorry I can't give personal input though; that stuffs a tad to rich for my blood.

They had a booth for Capcom with several demos including Lost Planet 2, MH 3 Tri, Dead Rising 2, Mega Man Zero collection, Street Fighter IV (iPhone/iPod Touch), and of course Super Street Fighter IV!! It was well worth the money and it's the easiest convention for me to attend is a plus. The various panels were cool too.

It was good but I wish more game company would show up. Would be nice to see Namco or Sega since their office is also in the bay area

Well, Sega just closed their office in San Francisco, so it's not a big surprised that they didn't show up. I saw Ubisoft has a booth in the program, but I didn't see it when I was walking the floor.

 ugh... would've loved to know about Future Soldier and maybe... the next RSV...

It is the development studio that got shut down. Their corporate HQ is still in San Francisco

For Ubi it was just something for Just Dance.

And I picked up five Blu-rays for less than a dollar each, and a surge protector for... Oh, that's right, this is Cheap Ass GAMER.

So OT, I've seen a couple of 3D gaming demos in the area in the past couple of weeks, and I see Fry's is advertising the hardware. Anybody else underwhelmed?

Where are the 3D demos at? Are any Fry's doing them?

They've been talking about 3D gaming to death on the Mobcast (I'm a little behind) and it's making me curious.

Santa Clara Microcenter
Sunnyvale Frys

Both of these stores have 3d tech on display. And yes its crap, but I have glasses so maybe it just doesn't work right for me.

Microcenter actually has games you can try the tech with. Frys just has videos on their rig.

Various places in SF in the last month. Panasonic had a tradeshow-like setup for a few days. I'm sure you'll see it everywhere soon. As the song says, "gotta move these color TVs" - and it's either 3D or try to push 480 Hz.

Well, after being gone for about 14 months in total, I should be back in the Bay Area for a good couple of weeks. Anything new? Gonna obviously spend time with the family before heading out to my next assignment, which is Seoul, South Korea!!!!! ;)

Any CAG's attend FanimeCon this weekend in San Jose? They did have some gaming tournaments and Aksys Games had a booth with Death Smiles on Xbox 360 and BlazBlue which was pretty cool!!
Hey Dakinggamer, pretty sure I ran into you on Modnation Racers the other day. I knew that name sounded familiar.
Oh cool I have been playing it the last several days and have been having fun with the game!!:D

saw this at walmart
Dont see anything aleraiders
Yeah, aleraiders, take an extra couple of seconds to explain what we're supposed to be seeing. Online photos often fail.

I'm thinking of going to CAX this year as last year I missed out. We'll see if I can break the girlfriends back about going this year. SO MUCH PINBALL!

HAPPY FOURTH!

I'm enjoying it from fresno, ca this year (its hawt!) Wish I was in the bay where its nice and cool right about now.
Happy 4th, Bay Area! Going to be watching the fireworks by Pier 39 tonight. Hopefully it's a good spot.
The view of the fog is pretty much the same from everywhere tonight.

The view of the fog is pretty much the same from everywhere tonight.
You got that right.
They're wasting money on those big shells that explode so high they do nothing but turn the fog different colors. Still, a pretty awesome show. Wish my home theater made CoD sound like that.

Lol yup, I still can see some fireworks, but most are blocked by fog

Is California Extreme worth going to? I see that there's a lot of Pinball. Last year a friend of mine had a birthday gathering at this Pinball museum in Alameda, and my girlfriend and I got bored really fast.

Hey!!

Guess I should do a new hello in this thread. I just moved from Cleveland out to SF in March. Love it love it love it!

Has anyone been to Golfland's "$8 all you can play" arcade night Wednesday's in Castro Valley? Plannin on checking that out in the next couple weeks and hopefully play a shitload of DJ Technika.

Once I got my ps3 I've let my xbox live sub lapse, but my online nick is the same on both, grifta67.

Later!

It's not just pinball, although unless you're into older arcade games I don't know if I'd recommend going since tickets are like $30-40. Check out the full game list here.

I went to one of those at the Sunnyvale Golfland and it was a good time. Not sure if something like Technika would be on free play but it's probably worth going anyway. :)

Anyone know of any stores in the Bay Area that sell import Japanese games, such as for example Espgaluda II Black Label?

CA Extreme was a great time, way better than a few years ago. It seemed like there was more variety. Space Lords was there even though it wasn't on the list. The best thing, though: Point Blank 2, and the guns had working slides! Too bad the machine wasn't for sale or I would have traded some organs for it.

I checked out Golfland's $8 Arcade Mania in Castro Valley last week. They do it Wednesday nights 8-12 and Saturday mornings 8-12. It was a lot smaller than I expected but it wasn't too awful crowded. I'd go to this a ton if I didn't live in the city and need to bum a ride/get a zipcar. You get a wristband to go into the half that is non-ticket games and everything is set to free play.

Here's what they have:

Music
DJ Technika (with card system)
DDR X
Guitar Freaks vol 4
-linked with-
Drum Mania vol 4

Shooters

Ghost Squad
Razing Storm
Time Crisis 4

Driving
Rush 2049
Initial D 5 (in Japanese, with card system)
Mario Kart 2
one other I don't remember

Pac-Man/Galaga split machine
air hockey
