Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:
80% off what the heck? What games apply?
The stuff that was 80% were just only XBox games. I picked up what I basically missed out on. I still have a system (sealed up, never opened) that I won from a company function about 3 years ago. There's a nice set of games that went with it.

I also bought copies of Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. Anyone that wants it, can still have it. I'm only asking $5 for basically shipping it out.

--Michael

VF4 Evo is a STEAL at that price, someone throw money at this man, stat! If you've ever wanted to learn another language, but never had the chance, play VF instead ;)
I also picked up 3 copies of Virtua Fighter IV Evolution for PS2. If any of you CAGers want them, PM me. I'll ship them out for $4.00 each. :D

I also bought copies of Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. Anyone that wants it, can still have it. I'm only asking $5 for basically shipping it out.
Act now, by this time tomorrow they'll be like $30!
If you've ever wanted to learn another language, but never had the chance, play VF instead ;)
Ha... That's pretty much why I could never get into VF. I'll just stick to training at my tiny roster of Soulcalibur/Tekken fighters. (VF players may commence shunning.)
You gotta love 80% off games...

I was at Best Buy today and grabbed Halo, Halo 2, DDR Ultramix and GTA: San Andreas.
So you paid $2 for Halo :xbox: and $4 for Halo 2 :xbox:?
And all original Xbox games were marked down 80% from their regular Best Buy price?

LOL!

I'm gonna stop at $5 Metaly.

But yeah, it was insane. I was with my nephew getting checked out. At first, most of the Xbox games were going for regular price and my subtotal was at $103. By the time he input all his codes, the subtotal went to $22!

Needless to say, that made my night.
Do you work at Garden City?? I haven't been there, but I always see it every time I go get ramen...
where do you get ramen? my favorite place is off castro in mountain view (ryowa ramen)
where do you get ramen? my favorite place is off castro in mountain view (ryowa ramen)
That is actually right by my favorite milk tea place, Verde Tea, although I've never tried it. Maybe next time I'm there.

I'm enjoying one of Verde's earl grey milk teas right now, as it turns out. :)
where do you get ramen? my favorite place is off castro in mountain view (ryowa ramen)
Mine is off 16th in the City (Safeway Ramen).

Good lord, there was a fuck-ton of people for the 3:30 AM TDK Metreon Imax showing. I thought we'd be the first people in line around 12:30-ish, but I was damn wrong. There was probably about 50-75 people ahead of us already. We still managed to get some good seats though. Some people were still coming in to watch some other showings as 3:00 AM came around!

Goes to show how insane this movie is. But, it was all worth it. It was amazing.
where do you get ramen? my favorite place is off castro in mountain view (ryowa ramen)
The place I'm talking about is Ramen Halu. I remember seeing the Metro vote this place as the best in Silicon Valley. Look it up. :D

Saw Spiderman 3 there. There was some technical issue about halfway through and the movie stopped. Sat there for nearly half an hour; was literally collecting my stuff to walk out when it came back on. No compensation offered.

I think I saw 300 and a Harry Potter flick there as well. I can't say I'm sold on the Imax experience. Worth doing once, but I don't think I'd do it again given the price premium.

Glad the movie rocks, though.

Hey you guys! Are any of you interested in receiving energy-saving lightbulbs, retractable clothelines, sink aerators and shiny showerheads for FREE?

I have a cousin that just hooked me up with all this stuff because PG&E pays him and his co-workers to install all this stuff at my house. There is absolutely no catch, and it's totally free for people living in the Bay (except San Francisco and Alameda, for some reason :'[ )!
They come to your house to install all these goodies, all in the name of helping out the community save their energy bills.
I'm usually against promoting an organization on teh interwebz, but with this program, you guys have absolutely nothing to lose... They're non-profit BTW. :)

If you're interested, lemme know and I'll give you all the info via PM. Trust me, it's all good. ;)

Here's their website...http://www.risingsunenergy.org/cyes.htm
Why don't they do Alameda? Everyone seems to think we're all rich here!
He says that Alameda has a different utility company there. They and PG&E are completely different entities. So basically PG&E installs these energy measures for PG&E customers.

I guess that sucks for Alameda... sorry man. ;)

Its okay I'm too rich to need your free lightbulbs anyway!

So.. can someone spot me $20? I want to watch Batman tonight. The extra $10 is for snacks. :whistle2:(
where do you get ramen? my favorite place is off castro in mountain view (ryowa ramen)
Like Civickid said, I get my ramen at Halu Ramen. They're known for their thick and greasy ramen with really yummy pork slices. You can ask for less/more salt/fat; I always ask for less fat to decrease chances of a food coma during work :p

As for Mountain View, I'm actually not a fan of Ryowa, but my other favorite ramen place is Maru Ichi down the street. I wish I could go there more often, but Halu's a lot closer for me. But when I get the chance, I go to Maru Ichi and finish it off with some gelato from Gelato Classico.

Argh, I'm getting hungry...

Sat there for nearly half an hour; was literally collecting my stuff to walk out when it came back on. No compensation offered.
I haven't been to the Metreon IMAX for years, but two times I went, there were technical issues, too. First time was watching Fantasia 2000 with my then-just-a-friend-but-now-fiance, and the movie stopped working in the middle. They herded everyone outside, and I remember we were both shivering out outside in the cold, thinking how incredibly awkward it was that there were all these couples around us cuddling to stay warm. They eventually fixed it, finished the film, and gave everyone comp tickets.

Next time I went there, using the comp tickets I got, we watched Lion King on the IMAX. The showing bit the dust like 3/4 through the film, and this showing never got fixed. I remember it ended where it looked like Scar had won, and I hoped all the kids watching had seen the movie already or else they'd be traumatized. We got comp tickets for this too.

I checked out one of the midnight showings of The Dark Knight at a local theater. It was PACKED, and I was hella tired all day at work today. (So was one of my coworkers who actually drove all the way from San Jose to SF to check out the midnight showing at the IMAX.) But it was definitely worth it.

Need something to do this weekend? Head down to San Jose and check out California Extreme: "Classic Arcade Games Show."

Website can be viewed here: http://www.caextreme.com/

I went to this a few years ago and had a WONDERFUL time. Basically, this is open this Saturday and Sunday all day and for a fee, you can play EVERYTHING on the floor for FREE.

The highlight for me would be a playable Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (in High Definition!)

Also for fans of pinball, there will be a TON of pinball games set on free play as well.

If anything, I'm hoping on going and maybe seeing a few CAGers there. :D
Why not SF? Is it because we destroyed their plant in bayview because it was plaguing everyone who was living there?
No, it's just that there are no CYES (California Youth Energy Services) sites in San Francisco. Maybe next summer the program would expand to cover that city.

Just got back from Batman. Basically...

Whoa, never heard of this. I may have to check it out. Anyone else planning on going?

And freeky, I'll take a look at the CYES thing. I repalced most of my bulbs with CFLs already, but who knows, maybe I need a... sink aerator?!

metaly, I'm afraid they don't cover your area! :whistle2:#
They go as far as Union City... I don't even think they cover San Jose yet! :'(

EDIT: I just called my cousin just now, and I asked him what areas CYES covers... He emailed me this link.
Oh man, snubbed!

Well... now how am I supposed to aerate my sink on the cheap??
I dunno man... But I think those aerator pieces are real cheap at your local hardware store. Should be no more than a dollar or two... Definitely worth it for the water you could possibly be saving over time. ;)

I saw it at the Jack London cinemas with a bunch of friends. WOWWWW what a great movie...AND A PREVIEW FOR fuckIN' TERMINATOR?!?!?!?! WHOOOOOOOOOO!
I saw it at the Jack London cinemas with a bunch of friends. WOWWWW what a great movie...AND A PREVIEW FOR fuckIN' TERMINATOR?!?!?!?! WHOOOOOOOOOO!
Terminator... Without Arrnald?

We didn't get a Terminator trailer. :[ But the Watchmen one totally made up for it. I'm still a little worried how they might screw some things up (everything looked too clean, 300-level abuse of slow-mo), but based on the trailer the director really gets Watchmen. My favorite part was actually how they used the same black and yellow logo. :D Can't wait to see what they do for the poster.
Terminator... Without Arrnald?
Yeah...an entire movie taking place during the future war against Skynet...with Christian Bale as John Connor. As much as I'd like an Arnie cameo, this is still an opening night view for me. I have too much history with this series. T2 was the first R-rated movie I saw in theaters. I was 8 :applause:

In other news, I was riding the bus down Broadway in Oakland today and noticed something that made me realize why I love Oakland...at Broadway and 19th St there's a store called Gold Teeth Master.

Awesome.

Simply awesome.
I'ma try to go see the dark knight it's not sold out at Tan Foran and century right?
Check Fandango first to double-check.

It didn't feel long at all, probably because it's paced very well and just a plain excellent movie where something amazing happens in almost every scene. I have to admit I was squirming around during a few of the Joker's scenes, but I think that's just testament to Heath Ledger's performance. He is seriously scary and it's tragic that we won't get to see him again.
p.s. TADA!
:applause::applause::applause:

I thought they were going to cut that scene from the movie, but I'm damn happy they didn't!

So is anyone else thinking of going to that Classic Arcade Games show tomorrow? I wasn't that sure, but then I saw their list had SPACE LORDS on it. I might just be on that the entire time. Let me know if you want to meet up and play some DS/PSP or something. Or just Space Lords. :)
:applause::applause::applause:

My entire theater applauded after that, and also when
Gordon reappeared
. :D So glad I caught this opening weekend.

Yeahhhhhh, my audience kicked ass at the Imax showing. They applauded at the exact same spots and also during a lot more, especially when that 18-wheeler flipped over, even though we've all seen it countless times in the trailers. It just looked so amazing in Imax!
It didn't feel long at all, probably because it's paced very well and just a plain excellent movie where something amazing happens in almost every scene.
I totally agree. In fact, my main gripe with the film is that the last act probably could have been half an hour longer.

And :drool::drool: at Christian Bale being John Connor. He was looking good in that trailer.
I am so clueless right now, I don't have any clue what you guys are talking about other than its about TDK
Go watch the movie, then you can join in on our convo. ;)

So CAX was pretty cool. Played Space Lords, some old vector classics, some really random old games I'd never even heard of, and talked to some guy who was distraught that they had moved the Donkey Kong II machine overnight and he couldn't find it. I also got the high score in Point Blank, wooo. It was pretty awesome seeing some of the ridiculous scores people had set in stuff like Asteroids and Battlezone, too. Just like the good old days...

I watched the SSF2THD machine for a while, but I don't know if it was because it was on a tiny arcade cabinet monitor or what, but it was pretty underwhelming. It'll probably be a big hit with tournament-level players because of all the balance changes they've made, but the new graphics just weren't doing it for me. Also, they changed Ryu's win quote? WTF?

Good stuff Metaly.

I wasn't able to go to the event this year. I was stuck in Tracy basically hanging out with family. My brother in law really wanted to go but I guess I'll have to save it for next year.

Man, Frys is gonna have FFIV for the DS for only $32.99. I'm taking that ad over to Circuit City and getting it priced matched. I'm hoping I get the $10 Gift Certificate also!

--Michael

I'm going to try to get FFIV DS at Circuit City tomorrow, since that seems like the best deal. I just hope they still have them in-store when I get there after work. ;)

If you can find a Frys ad that has the $32.99 price, bring that and price match it. Also, check and see if they'll still give you the $10 gift certificate. That's what I'll be doing.
