Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:

Also wondering about any way to get a bigger 360 HD for cheap, now that installs are going to suck up all my space. Anyone seen them marked down at a Circuit City on the peninsula?

No 120GBs left at the Sunnyvale CC, but at least I got a burrito on my way back so it wasn't a complete loss. Also I can't believe they're still selling the 20GB HDs for $80.

BONUS stupid story: My GPS invented a fake second Circuit City in Sunnyvale. I was like wow, who knew there was a second Circuit City just miles away! What luck! And then I got more and more confused until it directed me into some suburbs and literally into a dead end. WTF GPS. I would have been upset if it wasn't so surreal.

Saved by the burrito.

So where's the best burrito between PV and Sunnyvale?

Lately I've been going to the La Bamba on Castro Street in Mountain View. Good, fast, and right around the corner from Verde Tea Cafe.

Thanks. I see there's one on Old Middlefield too, near Rengstorff. Maybe a good place to go after you've worked up an appetite dealing with the idiots at the nearby Best Buy.

For some strange reason it lists two CC's in sunnyvale its the strangest thing I swear but at least if you know where it really is it isnt too confusing.

I ended up just getting mine from target for 125. These targets have been nothing but depressing with the clearance lately. That damn transfer cable taunted me and not a moment too soon. As soon as I transferred my data to my new elites 120gb hdd. My 3 year old pro finally once and for all gave me a RRoD. Thank god its covered by MS till tomorrow. Glad I was smart enough to get another 360 too.

Mmm mexican food, I love the vegetarian burritos at Tres Hermanos in Mountain View its right up the street, across the cal train tracks north of downtown mountain view. Awesome food and the liqueur store near it sells JOLT cola mmmm yummy.

For those south bay folks whats good in the sunnyvale/cupertino/santa clara area?

I've got a few places on my list I still want to try. But I need some good suggestions.

That one is actually the original location, and it's right next to La Costeña which is another burrito place and a cool little market. Everyone says La Costeña is the best in the area but I'm in the La Bamba camp. :)

I'll check out Tres Hermanos next time I'm in the area. For south bay, I keep hearing Eduardo's on Race St. is pretty good. I was actually going to try that out this weekend.

The Tres Hermano in EPA is good, but I worry sanatation wise, so I wouldn't recommend going there.

La Bamba > La Costena

My GPS took me on another wild goose chase. :bomb: I'm starting to lose my faith in technology.

Hey Veronica, were you looking for a deal on the GTA4 LE or just trying to buy one period? I was at the Fry's in Palo Alto and they had a ton of them for $60.

Hey guys. I finally made a trade list and wanted to give Bay Area people a heads-up. So here it is! I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting but I'll keep it updated.

Eduardo's on Race St. was pretty good. Make sure to hold the cilantro, though.

hey freaky. I had a pretty mixed experience with the PS headset. I really liked how easily it connected with the PS3, and how the mute button was huge and easy to use. Also StrandedBrit said I sounded really clear over it using the HQ mode.

Unfortunately, it was less comfortable than my previous headset, and DasFlikko (who I play stuff with more often than SB) said he could barely hear me at all, which was really weird. Also here's the big problem: quite a few times, usually when I was disconnecting it, it would freeze up the whole PS3! I have no idea why, or how to even begin fixing it, so that was the real deal-breaker.

Also half the reason I got it was because you said it fixed the mic issues in GTA4 which were ruining the game for me, and then the day after I ordered it they put out a patch that got my old headset working again! :bomb: Oh well.

I'm glad most people seem to be having better experiences with it than I did, at least. PS3 game nights need more people talking.

Now that you mention it, my system did freeze on me once when I turned on my headset. It never happened again though... Oh well, sorry to hear that metaly. I'll make the effort to use my headset more often for CAG nights... Getting too quiet lately. ;)

All this Mexican food talk and all means one thing, we should do a CAG lunch. Anyone interested? Mondays seem good for me as I live close by. Let me know if anyone is interested. It sounds like the places in Mountain View sound really good. I can sure try out some good Mexican food! :D
does anyone know if the sony playstation store at the Metreon has any black friday deals?
I don't know, but I'd be surprised. I've never seen anything there that wasn't priced at retail.

anyone looking for a psp by any chance? got one i can't exactly put on ebay ifyaknowwhatimeanwinkwinknudgenudge.

will also consider trade for a quality 1x12 guitar cabinet :-({|=
Circuit City Daly City clearance has a bunch of PS2 and 360 games for $25 and less. A lot of stinkers (several Maddens clogging up the PS2 bin, for one), but there were some that are pretty nice (Naruto for 360 is a good deal for that price, IMO).

Plus, if you show up during the afternoon, you might see me at the front door. ;)
imma come by and toss a handful of starburst at you for old time's sake.

hey i heard CC's got cvs2 for $12.99 or something now. confirm/deny? i figure now is a perfect time to pick up this game since everyone has stopped playing it.

Your CC (and the SF store) need to clarify their use of "clearance." Both stores have racks or bins that they've labeled as "clearance," but "clearance" has a specific meaning to the Circuit City POS. As far as I can tell, only games with prices ending in .x6 are "clearance" games to the POS. So when CC has these "30% off all clearance games" sales (as they've had a few times in the past month), many or most of the games in these racks/bins are NOT getting the 30% taken off. "Isn't this a clearance game? It's in the clearance bin." "Yes, but, it's not that kind of a clearance game."

Yet another reason why CC is heading towards a prime position in front of "dodo bird" in the encylopedia of extinction.

No invite for me. I didn't even know something was going on.

The real question is: Is anyone going to the marathon Capcom focus test on Friday? I think it's this Friday, anyway. Whoops, it was last Friday. So did anyone go?

Someone I work with went, he said it wasn't worth taking half the day off for. I wasnt eligible to go so I told him and yeah  MEGA MEH. Nothing with 5 was involved. It was something some people here have played before.

On to blackfriday talk, if someone is going to gamecrazy or is near one and wouldnt mind picking up Assassins Creed and GRAW 2 on 360 I'd appreciate it. Its buy one get one free on all new games under 19 bucks which both are.

Anyone hitting up any stores?

EDIT: ETERNAL SONATA EVENT WHERE?!?!?!?! I work just down the street from Namco Bandai. I will camp out there if its awesome event.

EDIT2: IN FULL ETERNAL SONATA COSPLAY

I got an invite to the Eternal Sonata thing, but probably won't be going, so feel free to go in my place. It's really more of a fanbuilder thing than a full-blown Namco thing, I think. Here are the details:

-----

You are cordially invited the Endless Nocturne Farewell Party! Come party with me, Chopin, and other members of Endless Nocturne as we celebrate Eternal Sonata. We will be playing Eternal Sonata (from boss battle save states) on a large video projection screen and talking a bit about the game and your thoughts of it so far. There will be a trivia contest, chances to win some cool prizes and food and drink for all.

RSVP as soon as possible, at [email protected], to make sure that we have accommodations for everybody. In fact, if we get enough attendees we might even get a visit from some people at Namco Bandai Games!

Here is the when & where of the event:

Date: Friday, December 5th, 2008.
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: 665 3rd Street, Suite 230 (2nd Floor)
San Francisco, CA, 94107

Hope to see you there!

~Chopin

Hey Bay Are CAGs! Capcom's doing another marathon focus test this Friday. They didn't come out and say it's limited to new people, but I don't think I can take off for that long so I won't be going. Hopefully some of the rest of you can get in! Since they want people to apply via their forums, that may limit the applicant pool a bit and give you a better chance to get picked.

Usually they get everyone to play some upcoming game, maybe asking them to pay attention to certain details or try something specific while they're doing it. Then at the end you get a bag of Capcom stuff. :O

Does anyone here wanna buy that Gears of War Lancer replica? I thought it would easier to ask here first, since I could just meet up with you guys at some local place. Just private message me if you're interested.
haha I got 2 of those Lancer I am trying to get rid of
I got it as part of that Amazon deal, so I'm trying to see if somebody local wants it first before I wrap it up as a gift. Although the person in mind, would get a kick outta it.

Brand new and sealed :ps3: Guitar Hero World Tour (game only) for $30 shipped! It's going on the trade list later so PM me if you're interested.

I'm in the same boat Metaly. I got my game at BBV awhile back and haven't even taken the game out of the plastic yet. Rockband 2 is a much better game.

Yeah, plus I'm already kind of pot-committed with all my Rock Band DLC. :) There's no turning back!

Anyway, got the game today as part of the guitar bundle and wow, I kind of want to pick up another GHWT guitar and just toss the Strat. No more missing random notes because of that mushy strum bar!

Hmmm the 16th in the city that might be one hell of a late night. I'll think about it, depends on if the gf wants to go into the city or not. That place is a hole to drive in and out.
