Pinball FX 2 - Free Paranormal table from 10/26 to 11/2!!!

The new Marvel tables look awesome. I'm excited.

Guess I know what I'm spending my 800 point rebate from Oct. on :)

Voted for Fantastic 4, but would like to see all of them.
Guess I know what I'm spending my 800 point rebate from Oct. on :)
Same here regarding the freebie 800 points! Nice way to top off some games I was very happy to purchase anyway (Costume Quest and Lara Croft). I didn't vote because I have no preference on what's next. All I care about is that it be a fun one. That I would vote for. :)

Awesome sauce, I knew about the marvel table coming but seeing those in action looks really sweet. I voted Fantastic Four since there would be more content possibly?

I read the preview on the new Marvel content and they sound great. I think my fav is going to be Blade. That one looks fun and it periodically changes from day to night which should be awesome. And the effects on the ball look cool too.

At least they aren't making us wait long. About a month. That seems to be the trend for Arcade releases unlike retail games. Crossing fingers for no delays this Christmas.

I wonder how that pumpkin ball bomb on Spidey will be used... That feature should be pretty neat.

I'm glad Zen is focusing on pinball. They do it extremely well and I hope their sales encourage more tables. If 200 msp is the standard price for 1 table, its a no brainer to pick them up. IMO one of the best values in the entire LIVE marketplace.

5 credits on a real machine to own a brand new virtual one... Sign me up.

It's a good value, except that it's a download. I picked up PHoF:TWC for $20 or some such price and that has a lot of great machines in it. I've spent more then $20 on PFX2 DLC alone, not to mention the main set of games which were another $10, and it's a download. I can't resell it when I'm done with it. I can't lend it to my friend. Etc. Truth is I think it's a bit pricey given that it's a download, though that didn't stop me from going whole hog.

That was my perspective on the matter with Pinball FX 1 and it was definitely worth it since I could import those tables into FX 2. Great price and great fan service gives Pinball FX 2, and Zen Studios, an extra star in my book.

True... but I never really sell my old games, they just sit in the collection. Even if FX2 was on a disc I wouldn't sell it. I can see myself enjoying this game for years to come. Same goes for PHoF. Picked that up for $15 and I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. I think that is one of the best values for a retail game. The replay factor is insane.

I have spent a total of $16.50 for my FX2 collection. Used one 1600 point card I got from Amazon on sale a few months back for FX1 and the DLC. Bing reward points bought me the 4 new FX2 tables and the remaining DLC tables for FX1, and since I bought them all in October the rebate MS offered is going to get me the 4 new Marvel tables in December. I couldn't be happier. And once I get some more of my Bing rewards that I've ordered, Mars and Paranormal will be mine for free :) once they are released that is.

I'm not saying I ever plan to get rid of PHoF either. It's the principal of it. :) And anyway, I'm just being a whiner. Like you didn't know that. :)

Oh, and yeah, I got some freebie points from Bing as well, but only the initial set. I don't use Windows, just in VMWare Fusion on occasion, so I just did the initial stuff and then removed the Bing Bar et. al.

Definitely looking forward to spending the (hopefully?) $10. I say "hopefully" because it seems like this is a pretty big license. There's a lot of Marvel characters on display. Hopefully that doesn't translate into a 1200 point price tag.

Well SF2 is a big license and that one was 200 msp... Same with Ninja Gaiden Sigma for Zen Pinball. I guess we will wait and see. If they make it 1200 for the set I will be a little bitter but still won't hesitate to purchase on Day 1, due to how awesome the new content looks.

Looks good to me. I wasn't expecting 4 tables at all - I thought one at the most with all the characters. I bet it'll be $10, which is ok. I got Pinball FX2 basically free when I took advantage of the Dell deal, and I've been doing surveys on opinion outpost which basically pays for this round of tables.

I think Blade will be the coolest table too.

Yeah went back and played PHoF and the ball does go a lot slower compared to Pinball FX 2. Then there are times that the ball goes so fast you can't cope due to the sudden difference and ahh down the middle!

Finally finished the Wizard Mode on Whirlwind but gosh darn it I still can't get the basic mode done with the Harem multiball being a pain with Arabian Knights.

This is where I'd love it if you could get the achievement by beating friends' high scores on your friends list haha. doh

One thing I wish, like Williams Challenge, is that PFX 2 had a challenge mode.

I just got done playing Whirlwind... Had a pretty nice game going, final score of 102 million ranked #92 on the leaderboards. What a great machine.

Yea the Harem Multiball is glitched which sucks. You either have to get lucky by getting 3 balls in the sneak-in behind the genie, or hope that it counts your loops as letters in Harem. I specifically had to hold the ball with the right flipper until harem was lit and repeat shots up the left loop. Eventually you will get it. I think it helps if you tilt the table while shooting the loops to get it to count.

I just can't seem to understand how you guys think PHoF plays slow... Every time I play the ball rockets around uncontrollably at light speed, lol. FX2's ball is a lot more predictable IMO. And a lot easier to control.

My remaining achievements in PHoF are for Black Knight (which is a game I have no love for, and thus why I've not completed it yet), Pin-Bot (which may be harder to complete then Medieval! Getting all the planets AND the extra ball is ... a chore), and Medieval Madness. I was going to go whole hog on MM but got bugged by the moonball-ness of it. But I'll go back to it still. As far as the ball suddenly speeding, that's due to kickers and such. I think the simulation just has the playfield at moonball angle - way too shallow. All they'd need to do is tweak it to have a steeper, normal angled, playfield.

I use to own Whirlwind (I mean the real machine). it's a classic for sure. PHoF's Whirlwind is *way* easier then the real thing. You can make the upper ramp easily in PHoF. It's quite a bit tougher on the real machine.

Thats cool... So you traded Whirlwind for Fish Tales? I am looking into getting my first machine once I save up a little more coin. I was thinking Dracula or T2 for my 1st, but knowing me I will prolly jump on whatever I can find locally at a good price. Fish Tales looks interesting. I have seen Demolition Man go for under a grand and I have fond memories of that one from my youth.

How much did you pay for Whirlwind/Fish Tales?

I think Pinbot is hard than MM to complete the goals. You have to advance all those planets on 1 ball. Then hit that funky shot with the left flipper. That shot is tough. Took me a ton of games to complete it. I played a good game of MM last night and finally got a decent score up on the leaderboards... 709 mil for spot # 72. Just remember to save some troll bombs for Battle for the Kingdom.

Actually I had an Eight Ball Deluxe. Then I bought a Whirlwind to go with it. Later on I sold the Whirlwind and bought a Demolition Man. Then I got married, we had a kid and we bought a house and... well, sold both of my machines and cried a bit. :) But now I've got a Fish Tales and all is right with the world! :)

Whats your opinion on Demolition Man? Good one to own? Or should I look for something else? The widebody cabinet is pretty unique, only a couple machines were made like that and most of them are pretty pricey... i.e. TZ and IJ

If I can find a Judge Dredd for cheap I would jump on that one.

Demo Man is a fun game. Scoring is unbalanced in that playing modes isn't really worth it, but the multiball variants are all really fun. And at home you can play modes and go for the wizard mode just for the heck of it. Also I'd pick Demo over Judge Dread any day, though I wouldn't complain if somebody gave me one, and hey, it's all IMHO.

Ahh don't get me started with Pinbot. At least Arabian Nights gives you the ability to stop the ball from going down the extreme left or right with the capturing shooting star thing. In Whirlwind and Pinbot you can loose your ball almost instantly with no fault to your own.

A lot of Pinball FX 2 tables have that going for it allowing you to continue to keep the ball save flashing. That said many of the tables of PHoF aren't the best of but more like the evolution of Pinball.

Pinbot is the meanest machine in the collection. So many insta-drains... If the ball comes off the bumpers in the top right at a certain speed, kiss that ball goodbye down the far left outlane.

Took a look at how the voting is going at marvelpinball.com and Ghost Rider shot up to a commanding lead with 42% of the votes so far. A Ghost Rider table done right would be really sweet.

Also watched the 1st Blade movie last night in anticipation of the new table. I will try to watch the remaining 2 sometime this week. Wesley Snipes is a badass.

Pin*Bot is a super bouncy game in reality. I forget how it plays in PHoF. The only big problem I have with Pin*Bot is that the collect planet shot is very difficult to shoot intentionally (though it is possible), and even if you do shoot it, there's a decent chance the ball will drain down the right outlane, right after. I like playing Pin*Bot, but I'm not crazy about having to get all the planets and then the extra ball (or is it a special? I'm forgetting...) in order to complete that goal. They should have left it at getting all the planets. That's enough of a challenge. Having to then get the EB (Special?) is like a kick in the groin. :)

Have you played Jack*Bot? That's a pretty fun game. Not sure if I like it more or less then Pin*Bot, but it's pretty cool what they did with it. It's certainly about a billion (pun intended) times better then Bride of Pin*Bot (though that's loved by some, so YMMV). If you're unfamiliar with it, it is the exact same playfield as Pin*Bot, just with a dot matrix display and very different rules. Basically they did what they use to do in the EM days - reuse playfields with new artwork and rules. Cheap to produce. Casino Run, a kind of wizard mode, is pretty clever and nerve wracking. It's not that hard to get it again if you screw up, so when you get hit with a bomb it's not as frustrating as it might otherwise be. Anyway, worth playing if you ever see one. Tip o' the Day for Jack*Bot: The EB button flashes at times. Hit it over and over when so to cheat! You can cheat a bomb in Casino Run sometimes this way - when wheel is spinning to choose your CR award, hit EB button over and over as fast as you can. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you don't. You can cheat some of the "modes" as well to get more points.

I love pinball. :)

Had a scary moment tonight. I finished a game of Secrets of the Deep (still way off your score Sir KGSoloman8) and then all my other scores on all the other machines were 0! Fortunately I quit out of the game and launched it again and they were restored. Whew!

Ok grabbed a few more achievements, woot. I still don't understand on Pasha with the magnets and that part. I tried clicking the flippers back and forth or just the one on the right if it's orange but my ball always goes down the pipe. Every other mode I've improved on and I've been able to do the guards part fairly easy now.

I was just playing Excalibur and did ALL the necessary steps to assault the castle; move the siege ram into place, smash the castle to start the catapult assault, load and launch each catapult, as well as break down the castle door. Then I lost my ball and EVERYTHING I just did was lost. Oh my GAWWWD! I felt more rage there then I did playing Super Meat Boy!

Ghost Rider still in the lead. I have to say I am a fan of the "darker" themed tables...

Since all the ones they have announced have been hero tables... I wonder if they are planning any villain tables? Dr. Doom, Magneto, (could do some really cool playfield magnet stuff with that one) Venom and so on.

I voted Captain America. It's great that they're making lots of Marvel tables, but I hope we get more licensed tables from other companies too. Street Fighter 4 and Mega Man would both be cool.

I am actually quite surprised they didn't make a SF4 table around the same time they did the SF2 Tribute table. With all the hype around that game 2 years ago they could have made a bundle.

Would love to see a Guilty Gear table... doubt it will ever happen tho

I think they would be crazy not to make a Marvel vs Capcom 3 table in the coming months... that is if licensing doesn't get in the way

Once again tonight it did tge alarming thing of forgetting all my scores after I completed a game. All my other scores on the other machines are 0. It stays like this until I quit back to the dashboard and relaunch it. Is anybody else having this issue?

In any case I got one more achievement, finishing the Agents ones. I think I have 4 or 5 more to go.

Woah that's really weird crunc and no I haven't run into that issue. Possibly delete and re-download the game perhaps? I can't get the achievements on Agents because I miss the tanker ramp or the HQ most of the time. I've gotten better with the table though and have mastered the multiplyer part of the table. Finally grabbed the Legendary Swordsman achievement, god I still hate that little mini game. Still can't figure out how to do the activate the magnets challenge. Crunc, I added you as a friend to get another person on my highscores list, I could care less about the wizard robe though.

I got your request Spybreak. Accepted.

"Activate the magnets challenge". Are you talking about Pasha? The trick is to hit the magnet the opposite side that the ball is on, then the other side, etc. Get the timing right and you'll have it circling around and around. Make sure you don't have the magnet on that the ball is near. I find that thing annoying. I like tilting mini-playfield, though.

I was watching futbol (Vikings Vs. Packers), and I noticed the music on the Ford F-150 ad is very close to the music in the Agents table.

Finally did a triple combo on Speed Machine, achievement unlocked! Man I was playing this game offline for a while and it doesn't even give you friend's old scores; it just says please sign in to view leaderboards. Wow lame

Anyone check out the gameplay footage of the new Marvel tables? They are lookin sweet :)

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/blade-marvel-pinball/707478

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/spider-man-marvel-pinball/707476?type=flv

Check those out....

And here is a video interview with some more Blade and Spidey footage

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/marvelpinball/video/6284136?tag=other-user-related-content;1

One thing they mention that sounds pretty awesome is that on Spiderman you can activate all 3 boss battles at the same time.
Oooh... Yeah! Finally a tournament. Against friends only? Interesting.
Oh, it's on ;) lol

Good luck guys

Apparently there is a prize: Marvel DLC! So, I have to presume it's not just friends only. Not sure, though. I haven't been on the xbox today except for a little coop Plants vs. Zombies with one of my kids. I'm going to jump into it later tonight, though.

Checked out the tournament today. It looks like unless my friends specifically agree to be in the tournament, it won't show their scores or count them as competition.

I tried the tourney too, and only got 18 Million. The top score is like in the hundreds of millions!

At least you can participate w/o live!

I forgot my score but I'm ranked 167th. I'm guessing that number will change once everyone gets on and participates. ^^ Man I played really bad, it's freakin' mental (all in your head) just like golf. I'm like I gotta get a good score, ball lost, missed ramp or whatever. Breath in, just focus on having fun = good high score.

I fell asleep after getting the kids in bed, so didn't check out the tournament yet. It makes sense that it doesn't include friends scores unless they are participating in the tournament. Why would their scores be included if they aren't participating?

Are there any extra rules for the tournament? Like is it a time limited game?

Put up 88 mil on SotD for the tourney. Should improve that score over the next week or so...

Number 1 guy has over a billion lol. Doubt I'll be getting any free DLC...

I didn't do so hot in my first tries tonight. On Facebook they said that they might add 2nd and 3rd place prizes, though I don't know if that's a definite or not. Anyway, might give us hope. I'm still not really sure what the best thing to go for is in this game. Lock multiball works as would the other multiballs I've played, all of which seem to be the same exact thing, but getting to a billion that way would take forever. It makes me wonder if something else in the game is how they got to a billion. Do you get anything for playing all the modes?

:bouncy:184M on SotD, Rank number 30 now! Yes you get a cool 50M for completing abyss multi-ball. Oh man this table is growing on me and yet like other tables there is always one spot I can't hit. In this case it's the crane shot on the far left.

How do you "complete" abyss multiball? Just a bunch of jackpots and then it's completed, or something else? I always feel with this machine that there's something I'm missing. :)
