Is it possible to test a PS4 dlc code on the sony website without actually redeeming it? I have a collector's edition DLC code and I was wondering if it works. It would suck to type it in to the website and have it automatically redeem without any kind of confirmation screen to back out of and click "cancel" or something.

I know on the PS3 you could type in a code and see what 'could' be redeemed. You then could just cancel out and not 'redeem' the content. I can't see why it would be any different on the PS4 or online store.

I've been waiting for Strike Suit Zero to go on sale.  I just can't drop $20 on a non-returnable, digital-only game that doesn't have a demo.

The PAX2014 Sale + 30% for Plus members puts the game a little under $10, so I jumped on it.  Looking forward to playing this game and finding out if I'm actually any good at it. :lol:

The store should be updated in an hour or so. They like to do it late in the day. It's not bad if you like to wait until the last minute to buy stuff.

There may be some additional sales other than the PAX 2014 sale, but we won't know until the store is fully updated. And I'm thinking Transistor will be a PS+ title eventually, but it won't be in September. It hasn't been out that long and they're trying to avoid putting games on PS+ right after they've been on sale.

So people can just swoop in with a trial pass or monthly card and claim lots of the games regular subscribers paid for a yearly to get? that would not go over well, even if it was only 10 games. Tyler would flip his shit.

those are the ones i'm debating as well. well, them and danganronpa. on one hand, that's way more than i want to spend. on the other hand, it's my birthday soon so i could justify a bigger haul. and one another foot, i don't need more stinkin' games given my backlog.

This would be like being mad at Best Buy for selling games cheaper than the price you paid a year ago when you bought them. Which is fine, I guess, if you have nothing better to complain about.

I also find it hard to picture someone wringing their hands or twirling their moustache going "Yes, NOW is the time. This will save me dozens of dollars over those pathetic fools. And I can use another trial card any time I want to play them. Hahahahahaaaaa"

Well, damn, Now I can't stop picturing that.

It's a little more no frills than previous titles, but it's about 2/3rds the length of a normal R&C game. Not as enjoyable as Crack in Time, but still pretty good. It also includes the bridge game Quest for Booty (between Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time) which is another 3-5 hours of content if you've never played it before.

My 3 cost about $35, and it's funny because my birthday is coming up in September so I said why not splurge?

Grabbed Transistor, Child of Light, Strike Suit Zero, Trials Fusion. Queued 'em up for download then noticed it was super dark out and went out to roll up my car's windows. Came back in and the power's out. Good thing my Vita's on a full charge!

It would be nothing like that. One is a subscription service that rewards long time membership. Your idea clearly undermines that benefit. Everybody expects prices to go down over time, that's normal, but your idea is quite different from that as it isn't about prices going down, but consolidating the 'best of' a yearly service into a single month for people to just swoop and and get.

And of course people would then wait till whatever month it happens to grab a trial. Heck, people do that already whenever there's a good month. Adding the 10-12 'best of' games to, say, December would blatantly harm the perceived value of a yearly subscription.

The Atlus games (Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga Raidou, Persona) won't have their sales end until next week right?

Or are they going back to regular price today?

Unless you hate Ratchet & Clank games, Into the Nexus is a no-brainer since it's a great classic R&C game for $7.50. It's about 6-8 hours long, which isn't that much shorter than the main games.

The only permanent price drops are a couple of EA things and a NASCAR '14 add-on.

 
Damn this sale. I was planning on just getting First Light but now I may have to hold off and pick up Trials and Strike Suit( keeping to my budget) Anyone planning on getting First Light( crushing on Fetch)!
 
We'll likely always see it differently.  I see it as an opportunity to get more people to join a subscription service (after all, they would need to stay subscribed in order to play those games), making it even more successful for Sony, which would presumably improve the quality of the sub as well.  It sounds like you see it as people crowding in on our turf and as an opportunity for a large amount of users to abuse the system and take money away from the program.

I also think that anyone who would abuse that window with a trial membership or some such thing would have already done so long before something like this was implemented, in which case few if any of those games would mean anything to them anyway.  Keep in mind I'm also not talking about games from that calendar year, but rather ones from the previous year or further back as the program gets older.  I think last year's free games wouldn't mean a whole lot to long-time system owners, but it would be great for people getting the systems for the first time.

My being flippant about it didn't help put that point across, and I'm sorry about that.

I've actually done this myself before. PSN does a pretty terrible job of sorting your library (if you could even call it that) and I really don't need any extra clutter to page through when looking for something I want. I already regret all the free avatars and DLC I downloaded and will never use.

I don't really skip that much though. If there is even a chance I'll play it I go ahead and grab it. Just explaining my own reasoning behind why I might skip something.

I found I actually really appreciated the shorter scale and length. For the price it was a perfect R&C snack that gave me everything I wanted without overstaying it's welcome.

I would pay whatever the developers needed to allow you to sort or even hide items from your download list.

R&C for 7.50 is worth it. 5 planets including an arena planet. Easy but tedious platinum if people are in to that.

It will be a cheap week for me. I have nearly every Pixeljunk game. I don't play Call of Duty.

I'm not interested in only saving 10% on Transistor and Child of Light.

So my total will likely be 0.00

I'm holding out for a lower price on Child of Light too... it'll probably be cheaper the next time it's on sale. Offering only 10% extra discount for PS+ members seems insulting compared to some of the previous PS+ discounts.

Sony is waiting for a more powerful machine (probably PS5) before they introduce processor intensive tasks like sorting and filtering lists and changing PSN names. That's the real next gen mind blowing experience i'm looking forward to.

I have so few moments where I really want to sit and play games on the PS3 versus just playing a 3DS or Vita game that the price-point for me to buy something for the PS3 has to be pretty exciting, unless it's a fighting game. That being said, I rather impulsively and stupidly spent $10 and change on Strider PS3 when it went on sale, and I'm really regretting that because it's not even in the top 5 list of PS3 games I'm tackling any time soon. That's why I won't shell out $10 for CoL.

If remote play worked on more PS3 titles and worked really well on them instead of horribly, I'd probably be playing way more of my PS3 titles. Puppeteer would be great for Vita playing.

I bought Trials Fusion PS4 at Best Buy for $39.99 ($32 with GCU, $29 with GCU+movers coupon), took the season pass card out and traded the game to Gamestop for $19.50 with a 50% coupon.  Bought a $20 PSN card with the credit and just bought the digital PS4 version and applied the season pass card, essentially paying $20 for a full copy of the game and all DLCs.
