So going over my "maybe buy" list for tonight, played about 5 minutes of Urban Trials Freestyle and hated it.  I don't really like Trials, I'm not sure why I thought I'd like this, and I don't.  Feels even worse than Trials.  A lot worse.

Reading about the two Assassins Creed DLCs that I want, it sounds like "Da Vinci Disappearance" for Brotherhood is a pretty decent gameplay and story add-on, wheres "Lost Archives" for Revelations is a pretty crappy puzzle add-on that doesn't even feature any of the normal AC gameplay.

Anyone who has played either of them able to weigh in a little bit more for me?  I'm way behind in the series, I've only beaten 1 and 2 but I really liked 2 and like the series in general.

 
might be time to grab that capcom arcade cabinet bundle while everything is essentialy 20% off. i was hoping for better ps+ sale items to stack with the offer though.

 
so I have KOA for the 360 but havent played it yet, is it worth trading in my copy to GS and downloading this for PS3?  Any major differences in the 2 console versions?

I liked the Da Vinci disappearance. Brotherhood was it for me, I'm an AC fan and I think that one really nailed it so any extension of the game was bound to please me. I got it 2 years after it came out and it still seemed entertaining. my 2c.
 
Didn't GTA5 have an embargo until the Monday before release? I seem to recall the reviews started showing up around Monday afternoon. And that game ended up being shit, so yeah embargoes are always bad news.

Well, yeah, like I said there's obvious exceptions. But GTA reviews released 7AM that Monday, anyway, so the comparison is moot. All I'm saying is that a few mediocre Sony exclusives have followed this "embargo" pattern. I hope Rain is good, though.

Right here. Could never get into being the "bad guy." I get escapism and catharsis, but gunning down law enforcement in a video game has never been enjoyable for me.

This is why I liked Sleeping Dogs more. I like showing how well I can drive through traffic. Don't get me wrong, I'm playing gta 5 but I hate all the main characters. Only halfway likeable one is Franklin but he's such a cliche it's easy to dislike him too.

What I don't get is theres these references to a game everyone plays and how all versions are the same. I get they're taking a shot at cod but I'll be damned if gta hasn't been an update since 3.

He quit posting in the PSN thread because some jerks made fun of him about not playing games for story, or not wanting to kill colossi or some other dumb thing. He still reads all the time though, you can see his name frequently on the list of people viewing this thread. I miss him though. There's been no one to give us scholarly opinions and long winded posts about why we're all wrong about everything. Maybe I'll take that torch. I will avenge you, affa.

Yeah, none of the GTAV characters are likable in any way. At all. All they do is yell at each other for 5+ hours of cutscenes.

I was just having that problem. Thought maybe I forgot my password (using the web store, not the PS3 so it's not saved) but it even gave me an error when attempting to go through the forgotten password process so looks like it's on their end.

Yeah, I tried typing my password in on the web store about 40 times. Figured it out when it wouldn't work on PS3 either.

 
I gave in and pre-ordered Rain. Hopefully it's good and not too short. The theme was meh considering I'm using the Heavy Rain dynamic one. I'll pretend it applies to both. I should be able to beat HR tomorrow and jump into Rain. Then Beyond next week! :)
 
Got a question about the Assassin's Creed sale. Since there's no red X next to them in the OP, does that mean the sale will last longer than one week? It's because the $20 card I ordered from Best Buy won't arrive until Thursday, but at the same time, I don't want to miss out on this sale on DLC.

Normal PSN sales typically don't have a red X on them since end dates usually aren't posted anywhere, so it could end with the update later today or it might not. Always prepare for them to last just one week just in case.

 
Has anyone had games/dlc just not show up as owned anymore in their account?

With Retro City Rampage on sale I thought about downloading it since I saw it on the store and it shows I have to purchase it. (Hopefully it's still on my download list)

And I bought it at launch so that's kinda bull.

Also some of the Vita dlc I have for DoA5+ which is supposedly crossbuy, it tells me if I have to buy it for PS3.

Yeah, none of the GTAV characters are likable in any way. At all. All they do is yell at each other for 5+ hours of cutscenes.

On the promotion question, I think that you will get the $10 back if you spend an additional $25 in another transaction that adds up to a final total of $50. From the last time this promotion was done, the only thing that mattered was the final total of your spending for the promotional period so it did not matter if you did not spend $50 in one transaction, but did multiple smaller orders adding up to that value.

I have not played GTA V at all yet, but that is part of why I really liked Red Dead Redemption. While in some ways, there were flawed human beings portrayed in its characters, the overall tone of the game had less cynicism and satire. Without going into spoilers, John Marston is without a doubt my favorite protagonist of any Rockstar game I have ever played because the writing and voice acting made me believe in the sincerity and reasoning for his choices (even the bad ones).

I wouldn't sweat it - a bunch of the cross buy or bundles I purchased don't show up as owned for the individual game pages, but they are all still in my DL list.

Yeah I really enjoyed the tone of RDR. To me it's head and shoulders above GTA IV and V.

 
I actually agree with that... and am surprised that I do.

I guess it has to do with the motives of the character...  GTA is hard to find any redeeming qualities in the character.  At their core, they are a thug.  

RDR has a moral compass to some extent.  

 
I don't mind gta characters being thugs because I don't look there for character development but damn, 5 is the first game where i have wanted each of the 3 characters to fail miserably. There's nothing worthwhile to Trevor, all I want to do is drive him into the lake. Franklin is somewhat likeable because he doesn't want the gangbang lifestyle but he'll gladly snipe a cop for a dollar. Plus his 90's black character in gang cinema cliche is annoying, Michael is a horrible husband, dad, and person. I'm still lost on why these 3 continue to work together despite their hate for each other or how at one point Trevor and Michael were close enough to have grieved over the other. Rockstar could definitely use a real writer next time to help them out.

Good news. Hopefully they will fix the leaderboards. If your Vita goes to sleep mode at any point during a run, your score doesn't count. :/

The poor performance whenever the ghost shows up or in dead are restless, snow, or city of gold levels kind sucks too. Also trophies in the PS3 version are bugged but they seem to be fine on the Vita. I've now beat hell on 360, PC, PS3, and Vita! Woo! Another thing that kinda sucks about the PSN versions is that you can't press up from the top of the leaderboard to see how many people have played it. Judging by how my score is ranked (I'm in the 30s on PSN) vs my PC score (in the 400s with an even higher score) probably means it isn't doing all that well but hey, I did my part.

Yeesh, lots of people hating on GTA 5 because of the story. You're not getting it. Each entry in the series is a monumental event in gaming not because of Rockstars ability to write a story, but to create a world. For my money this is the most fully realized world in gaming with every pointless little side activity being fully realized. It's just great.

 
GTA has never been about the characters. Your the character and u get to explore the whole world and have fun in it. Trevor is awesome and fun and Michael is pretty good too and Franklin is ok but hes just the token urban thug guy. If you dont get Rockstar's sick dark humor then its just not for you. This game is way better than RDR for me.

I don't think people are struggling to understand the "humor" of GTAV, I think most people (maybe just adults) don't find it particularly funny or well-written. The game is still addicting and I don't regret buying it, but it's hard not to think how much more I'd enjoy it if the story was more engaging or the characters were likeable.
