So, what's everyone buying? I'm looking at resident evil 2, the messenger, lego jurassic and harry potter, and the kingdom hearts all in one to flip that over to digital.

Trying not to be manic and spend a bunch, already grabbed 3 switch games from the GameStop sale and am looking at Xbox too lol.

I have shelves full of PS4 and PS3 games, boxes full of PS2 and PS1 games; a good portion of them I haven't played simply because "too many games, too little time." It's not a case of "going back" and playing the classics, it's a case of getting to play them for the first time. My PS3 died last year, so hoping for a new system with backward compatibility is one of the best options I'd have for playing the games I bought but haven't yet gotten around to playing. There's obviously a market for people who want to play games that aren't the new hotness, otherwise we wouldn't get so many remasters day-in and day-out.

And yet you have Sly Cooper as an avatar and those games are still well worth playing, even if they're quite a few years old now.

There is a cult of the new type mentality, which I saw when I played board games in a group more often, where I would just play new games over and over, and people would focus on new experiences over really learning to master games. This is alright of course, but can be shallow at times. The same is similar to someone only playing new games that are new within the month, and ignoring games that came out over a year ago or something. I do get this way every time I see a new card game rouge lite like One Step From Eden, but for the most part want to play what I feel is fun.

Sometimes nostalgia is a cruel mistress, such as a few months ago when I played Bubsy for Sega. The graphics were still pretty good, but everything else grated on me. It had floaty controls, one hit kills, bad checkpoint placement in some levels, confusing maze like levels near the end of the game, repetitive bosses, and somewhat grating music. I enjoyed the one liners honestly. I still got a few hours enjoyment out of it anyway.

Anyway just saying that at least to me, usually the first year of a console has maybe one or two great games, a few good ones, and lots of ok or below average ones. I noticed this on PS4 when most of the first year I was playing BF4. It was super dry for releases until Infamous Second Son came out. It will likely happen again for the PS5/New Xbox.

I have a large collection of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games that I would enjoy playing again on a PS5 if that was possible.

I am currently playing some old Ratchet and Clank PS3 games that I never played before and I'm really enjoying them.

Everyone is different when it comes to backwards compatibility but I would be all for supporting legacy games on PS5.

I am so impressed by how much these people keep working on a game that has no subscription. I thought for sure they would do an update or two to "make good" a couple years ago and then move on. It would have been noble enough given the game wasn't a complete disaster. I hope they are reaping rewards for their efforts and/or will be rewarded.

I will say that there may be a bunch of DLC or cosmetics i'm not aware - if so, my take may be way off base.

Nah. I am playing through the MM Zero games right now thanks to the collection (currently on the second game) and a month ago I got to play Rondo of Blood for the first time (which was freaking incredible) and finally got around to actually 100%ing SOTN thanks to the PS4 collection.

Others have said something similar but most old games I am interested in playing are games I have never played in the first place. Nostalgia isn't a factor since I can't really have nostalgia for something I've never played. But, most games don't have fancy modern remasters/collections so BC is something that would be very useful to have.

I have largely sold off my older collections and a keep a few games that I feel I'd truly play. I still want to play Jet Set Radio Future which I don't believe is BC. That said, with less time and a lot of mediocre gaming in my past I realized that when I finally got around to playing SC: Blacklist as one of the last 360 games I bought I loaded it in to find I had 630 gamerscore and had just largely forgotten I had beat already. I guess I'd say I think there will be 1-2% of older games that actually fit in the category of not remastered and classic (to the individual) but that list is going to be different for lots of people which is why I like hearing about a solid effort for BC.

The good thing about a lot of RPGs is that they often age well, compared so something like third person shooters.

And it's more about not having to have a bunch of consoles hooked up.

And some remasters/remakes are worse than the originals. Lufia is the first that comes to mind.

Glad I bought greedfall. Its a pretty fun game and the disc is seeming to hold its value. My gameshare buddy was mad that he accidentally bought EDF:iron rain and wanted to get a refund even though I enjoyed it so it was more of a peace offering, but its fun. I recommend playing on hardest difficulty but starting with a magic user because the beginning is crazy hard.

The PS5 controller is called the DualSense. The Share button's replaced by the Create button. The light bar is built into the sides of the touchpad. It has a built-in mic for easy chat.

It might be that the PSVR2 doesn’t need lights to track like the PSVR1 does. And in order to use PSVR1 on the PS5, you have to have a DualShock 4 controller with it too.

They're likely to try and push folks towards the Bluetooth headsets (which tbf are pretty great, but are not cheap most of the time).

First impressions I find it kind of goofy looking. But why really care what it looks like? How it performs and feels is more important. I am intrigued about the whole tension-with-the-triggers dynamic it has going on.

i think it looks slick as hell. White controllers never stay white for long though.

Exactly. So it's only on there now as a player indicator which Xbox hasn't bothered with since the ring of light on the 360 controller.

Yeah I really want to feel it in my hands. The shape of the handles seem to be different than the PS4 controller so I am curious how that actually feels.
