You are the only one... ok probably not.

I remember playing this in arcades and on PC. Damn... lots of nostalgia for 90's arcade fighting games. Such a great decade for fighting games.
If it's a bad game, why would you pay any money for it?
Because we have a problem. It will be a test of will power to see if I can actually turn down a $0.75 game. Although part of me is kind of interested in seeing how bad it is as well...

You may have a problem. I can stop whenever I want....I swear:joystick:
nobody's freaking playing virtua fighter 2 online? am i the only person in the world who bought this game? WOW!!! times have changed
Tons of people are playing it!......in the arcade in the demo for Ryu Ga Gotoku 5. (jk, I doubt it has online. I haven't checked it out though.)

I'll probably buy it soon though.
I've only played it on 360, but it's fairly accurate representations of actual tables, and almost all the tables are classics (Medieval Madness, Funhouse, Taxi, Monster Bash, Ripley's, etc.). If you've never played any of those tables in real life, you might not like it. But if you were ever a pinball junkie in an arcade it will be one of the best things you've ever bought.

That said, some people have experienced flipper lag with the PS3 version, but I don't know if that's been resolved or how common the problem is.

Oh, and Twilight Zone is being released pretty soon for it as DLC, one of the greatest pins ever.

Edit to clarify: the main game comes with Ripley's Believe It or Not, Theatre of Magic, Tales of the Arabian Nights and Black Hole. The first two on that list are unbelievably fun. Tales is pretty great, too. I'm not a fan of Black Hole, though.

i think it's better than zen pinball, i prefer real tables that were in local arcades growing up

It's not as good as Zen Pinball 2, but Pinball Arcade has the advantage of emulating real tables. There's the nostalgia factor there and it's pretty cool to play tables just like you might in an arcade. If you had to pick one, I'd get Zen any day of the week, bit for $5 you'll get Arabian Nights, Black Hole, Theater of Magic and the impressive Ripley's Believe It Or Not table for both the PS3 and the Vita. That's a good deal even if you never bother with the DLC, but if you get into it, there are like six 2-table DLC packs available at $5 each and some are pretty cool.

I actually prefer the "feel" of Pinball Arcade over Zen. I like Zen a lot, and have heard countless debates over whose ball physics feel more accurate, but Farsight Studios' engine just feels right to me. I was never a huge arcade pinball guy, so I have little nostalgia for the real tables, and I think Zen's table designs are very creative, but whenever I play them, a little voice inside my head sighs and wishes they were using Farsight's engine :)

The Pinball Arcade is getting some great new (old!) tables, but track down a copy of Farsight's Williams Collection for PS3/360, as it's a great collection of tables and a tremendous value.
Hmm... looks like I'm picking Pinball Arcade, thanks guys.

Real tables, plus PS3/Vita for $5 seems like a good deal.

I agree with this. I love Zen Pinball and have most of the tables, but it isn't very similar to pinball physics at all.

I think there is room for both of course, but the devs behind Pinball Arcade are the best in the business as far as realistic pinball games. I still play The Williams Collection quite often. You have to understand going in that some of these tables are pretty brutal to learn. We're lucky its not costing us 25 cents a pop!
Would anyone suggest getting Okami HD if you already own Okami? I am debating that or possibly some PSOne Classics to reach my $60 for the promotion. Any recommendations?
Okami looks beautiful in HD, way better than the ps2 version ( I cant speak about the wii versions since I dont have one). It also has trophies if you're into trophi hunting.

I'll look into doing some videos for some of the games that are on sale (TerRover, Slam Bolt Scrappers, Swords and Soldiers, and maybe Pinball Arcade), but I did do a video for Sideway New York a while back for those that want to see it in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRbcR_mABQI

I'll probably also get Cash Guns Chaos just so I can do a video to show you guys what that game is all about.

I have not played the new one yet, but Growlanser 2 and 3 on PS2 were amazing. Very good strategy RPG's. Wayfarer of Time is a a remake of Growlanser 4, and some say the best in the series.

Sony Music Unlimited:
it has everything i've searched so far. Absolutely worth $1/month for music fans

i am liking the service so far but probably won't renew at full price because i am cheap. I work in a private office from 8 to 5 and have been streaming music non-stop since i signed up. For $12 it's a great way to try out artists i might not have heard of or albums i would never buy. In chrome i have only had a few flash crashes but a refresh of the page restarts the music app where i left off so it hasn't been too much of an annoyance.

The search feature seems a bit wonky as i have typed in an artist name with no returned results but was then able to find that artist through a song title search instead. I haven't messed around too much with the playlist but the like feature under channels is kind-of cool.

The android app worked fine on my samsung fascinate but i don't have unlimited data so i probably won't use it much.

I will definitely get my money's worth out of the service in the next year.

i just got it last minute, listening to it on my pc so far i have mixed feelings, i keep getting 'server sent an unrecognized response, please try again later' every time i click on the channels link or when i use the search function. Their catalog is fairly decent though got most of my favorite bands/singers, they obviously don't have every artists but i wasn't expecting them to. The music player itself is on par with other similar services, you can make playlist, favorite songs, etc. Overall i'd say its the worth the $12 but i don't see myself renewing my sub after its runs out

i like it. The android app isn't too great, but it mostly works and i think it's cool you can listen to most albums the day they come out and decide if you actually want to buy them. I really can't imagine anyone not getting $12 worth of use out of the deal over a year. You'd have to really hate music.
Thanks for the response. I bought it and only used the ps3 and vita app and after 30ish min of using it I think its pretty good, worth the $12. So far it has what i looked for 90's, Hip-hop and early 2000's music. Gonna try looking for older songs next time i use it.

*I quoted their responses as to save fellow CAG's some thread backtracking :)

I already had sword & soldiers free with ps+ but in the ps store it now says $2.50 and gives the add to cart option instead of just the download button.

Does the store now allow ps+ members to buy games that ps+ members previously downloaded for free or is there just something screwy happening with my ps+ account?

I have to buy Pinball Arcade for that price! It would be great if they would release the Elvira, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Terminator 2 tables in the future.

Has anyone played Sonic Fighters? Is it even worth $4.99?

Ive heard its horrible...is 75 cents even worth it?!?
I learned my lesson with the last android sale. Even 10 cents is too much for some games... so 75 is just out of the question.

Add it to your cart and see if it is actually going to charge you when you check out. (You can proceed to check out before finalizing the order). I'd do it myself but I'm replying from my phone at work. Should tell you its already been purchased.

I know the new system doesn't show purchases you've made with the old.
nobody's freaking playing virtua fighter 2 online? am i the only person in the world who bought this game? WOW!!! times have changed
This makes me very sad. That game is such a classic and new gamer's have no interest. It's like Super Puzzle Fighter on PSN, can never find an opponent online. Not once!
Entirely random and off topic, but I just finished Mutant Blobs Attack, the last level was actually pretty awesome. Great game!
Tis indeed. There isn't much in terms of replay value, but it was the very first digital game I bought for my Vita and it was well worth it. There superb work with Mutant Blob Attack really has me looking forward to Guacamelee!

i have a little more than an hour to decide if i want to spend $60 real quick and get the $10 back. no idea where id spend the other half since I own almost everything.

$2.50 slam bolt scrap
$2.50 terrover? dunno i hated the 25 seconds i played the demo for
$10.49 hell yeah! probably hell no!
$19.99 full frontal assault
maybe some DLC for some random game i just got on black friday? i have no clue, might have to pass.... but i want full frontal!

oh on another note, my gameshare buddy and i both just got a vita, will he be able to use his account on his vita and share my purchases, and vice versa? we both share on 2 ps3s together.

If you can't find $50 worth of stuff you really want then don't bother. The only time it makes sense is when you can get the extra $10 back.
Well they released the Elvira & The Prty Monsters table and Creature From the Black Lagoon table in the past. They're already out and pretty good. One more Elvira table is on the way (Scared Stiff). T2 will require a Kickstarter project to get off the ground, but I think it may happen.

That reminds me : the Star Trek TNG and Twilight Zone tables were successfully funded and coming soon. Those two DLC tables might make this game worth buying right there -- remember that unlike ZP2, Pinball Arcade is not a "shell"; you'll need the full base game to buy any future DLC tables.

sure i understand, but if there were things that i kinda want that ive been putting off for a sale, why not? i put off the resident evil ORC DLC since it was freakin $20 bucks...
nobody's freaking playing virtua fighter 2 online? am i the only person in the world who bought this game? WOW!!! times have changed
I've been super excited to get this game, as owning it on a modern platform will be one less reason to keep my Saturn hooked up, but with very little pre-release coverage, I wanted to try a demo before buying. I was a tad disappointed to see that they didn't widescreen it, but I can understand them wanting to leave it as is, to keep the arcade purists happy.

Speaking of which, this is a straight-up Model 2 board emulator with some netcode slapped on, right? This ain't the Saturn version, or an "enhanced" port or anything?

I'm planning on grabbing the XBLA demo when it hits later today, but will probably buy the PSN version.
Has anyone played Sonic Fighters? Is it even worth $4.99?
I played it on Sonic Gems Collection & it's pretty much a simplified Virtua Fighter game, especially since they were made on the same arcade board (Model 2). Achievements are insanely easy, but they did add in Honey The Cat, who was hidden on the ROM, plus the ability to play as Metal Sonic & Dr. Robotnik. For $5, I'd really only recommend it for the bigger Sonic fans, & even then, your fun is limited. I'm gonna wait for a sale to happen before I get it.

8 games ( 5 PS3 & 3 PSV ) are coming to EU PS+ next month
Only 6 different games (2 are cross-buy) but they're getting some quality games, hope we get some of the same. More than likely we'll get 5 or so games next month, so it will be comparable. Plus they only started with 4 PSV games at launch, where we started with 5 + a PSP game.

Also, I've never even heard of Knytt Underground. Whether we get it free or not, it's definitely on my radar now.

But I'm guessing US will get Dead Space 2 soon to support the launch of the new sequel (triquel?).

if we only get Vanquish and MK Vita, I'll be very happy.

Too bad there's no worldwide uniformity between Sony's various regions. EU has reliable update times and usually better game selection. U.S. has Grace Chen updates and hit-or-miss selection. Japan gets to keep the good PSN store, we get to beta test the monstrosity.

You know what, since PsPlus has been so generous I'm not jealous of of Europeans getting certain content we're not getting. Very happy with the free content and looking forward to more awesomeness for us yanks.

Getting back to virtua fighters 2, played for about an hr last night. And I must admit how well game holds up even for today 18yrs later. Large part because it was far ahead of its time. Back in '94 high-res, 60 frame per, just an amazing and new thing to watch. It was a major shock to all of us to played capcom or snk fighting games. I tried to play against ppl online and I was dumbfounded by not being able to connect to a game with anyone via quick match. I checked the online session to see how many games are going on and I saw none. Now, I could be wrong and maybe there will be some turn out tonight, but it doesn't bold well for ppl like me who like this kind of Sega arcade(model 2 and up) as digital download with online play.

Ok I just found out Japanese release of VF2 was today.'so I assume we can get some across the pacific action going. Later tonight if none of you sonsofbitches aren't willing to pony up the dough

REALLY nice selection for EU Plus members.

Part of me hopes we don't get Mortal Kombat for Vita. I just bought it three days ago when Gamestop was selling it for 15 bucks. I wouldn't mind seeing one of the Vita games be something like...I dunno...Disgaea (which has been out a couple of weeks longer than MK) or even the PSP's Class of Heroes. Disgaea would be tits though.

Make it so, Sony!

Edit to add: I highly doubt we get Disgaea, btw, considering we just got FF Tactics, which is the same genre.

Grass is always greener...

yeah i just bought mk vita also for $15.

ok hey, iv tried to find the answer but no such luck, but 2 of the 2.50 sale games, peggle and bejeweled 2.
These are playable on the Vita, right? Does anyone know if each have their own trophy list?
i know they both have trophy lists available, but didnt know if it was only for ps3 versions of the game.
I know it's only $5 for both, and both games are popcap replayable casual. but just wondering bout trophies. Thanks guys if anyone has an answer.

FriskyTanuki will you be updating the "Alternate Deals" post?
I don't know how you spotted those PSX classics deals on gamestop, their filters don't seem to facilitate listing the downloadable PSX library. I've tried just searching for terms like "PSONE classics" but even that doesn't include every PSX games as some of them (e.g. Chrono Cross) don't include those words in the title.
I'm not just interested in PSX games mind you, more in what prices (of downloadable games) gamestop has to offer vs PSN.

Thanks for all your effort!

I'd assume they're both playable on the Vita, but they're both originally digital games for the PSP. So they won't have trophies. Eventually I'm sure we'll get Vita versions of Bejeweled and Peggle that have trophies, but these ones won't have them.

Just to note, none of these Popcap games will take advantage of the Vita's controls. For example, Peggle and Bejeweled are not in HD, and they only use buttons for control. If you're used to looking at these things on your smartphone or Tablets (for a $1.00) with HD graphics, and touch controls, you may be disappointed (even at $2.50 each).

yeah, i already have peggle/nights and bejeweled 3 bundle on ps3. ill just wait for cheap vita versions someday maybe. trying to just stick to trophy games for Vita as of now (not counting fft, ff's, re's, castlevania sotn, cuz those are awesome classics)

that being said, this bejeweled 2 on sale is the psp/vita version, right? so if i bought it i wouldnt be able to play it on ps3 for the ps3 bejeweled 2 trophies? thanx

and damn this is off topic, but i wish they had twewy for vita. that game was square crack for me. id be playing it at stoplights i was so hooked.

Yes, only the PSP version is on sale. There were several complaints about it yesterday on the update post because the Monday PS+ preview post made no mention that only the PSP version was going to be on sale.

i second guess on every purchase lately unless super cheap. I bought Quantum Conundrum for $15 a week before it was ps+ free for that 20 back with $100 spent deal. I didnt buy any of the sega sale games or the toe jam n earl games because sega has a record of ps+ freebies, tho most of those were day 1. I just bought sunflowers for my kids to play on my vita for $4 and i told them all, this will be free within 3 months, lol. that is life. can't complain about free stuff anyway. all the deals/cloud/auto sync is worth it and the freebies are just super icing.
With this great PS+ offering, you kinda want to second guess on every game purchase now.
To me, it varies by game. I'm not going to buy games like the new Ratchet & Clank or LBP titles because I fully expect them to be offered free by PS+ eventually. I do however feel okay about buying more 3rd party, niche titles like Persona 4 Golden.

No it's not. But it's $5 cheaper than than on Xbox, if that means anything to ya.
