Course, YMMV. Personally, I've been fine with the quality of US titles. In fact, recently finished Quantum Conundrum. Enjoyed it.
Plus has sold a stupid amount of subscriptions since e3, most in for a non-refundable year. There's no quelling to be done and the vocal complaints are always a tiny minority. It's a dead topic, if you want to complain head to the blog with the other 40-100 idiots that represent a sliver of the PSN population.
Not sure if this was directed at me, but I'm definitely not complaining.
You're overlook the issue, which is never good. People aren't mad that EU is getting X and we're getting Y, people are mad at the difference in quality.

Lets look at last month (so we're fair to the US), now I don't recall 100% what we got, but I think it was...

Biohazard 5 with DLC
Dungeon Defenders
Quantum Conundrum

EU

Crysis 2
All 4 One (they always lacked it)
Cubixx HD

"Quality" needs parameters before it can be properly utilized in comparing the games.
Bioshock 2 is an awesome game and I will definitely play through it again now that I have the chance. That being said, EU PS+ wins again with Arkham City, Vanquish, and Limbo. I don't understand why they can't give us the same games as the EU Plus.
You know, people in EU will complain with what free games we get here as well. It's a double-edged sword.
C'mon, man. Give it a rest. I agree that Vanquish isn't an "average" game, but that doesn't mean it's not a tps. There's action sequences here and there, as well as opportunities to melee. Overwhelmingly, though, you're shooting, lol. Just because you can manipulate time while doing it doesn't mean it isn't shooting. If your beef is with someone calling it average, address that.
I know exactly what he's talking about, but found it pretty hilarious that he was too dumb to put it into words and decided to lash out like an idiot.

Here's a description for EU folks wondering-- it's a shooter with unique mechanics at your disposal-- no two ways around that. Calling it an action game like bayonetta, ninja gaiden, or dmc is not accurate, considering those are all melee action games, which are just called "action games." When guns are the main weapon, which they are because the game itself regulates how much melee and boost you can use, Slowdive, it's a TPS/shooter. However, it does have a scoring system to judge how well you're playing which is unique. The scoring system is not the best, though, according to people who play the game a lot.

Anyway, it's a great game and I'm jealous the EU+ gets it!

As said before, high level players don't shoot a whole lot. You've never played it so i'm not sure why you care. The vid you linked was funny though.

This appears to be a "High level" player... he's doing a LOT of shooting for a game that's not a shooter.

Hmmm....Puddle is 3.50 for PS3 and 2.80 for Vita.
The PS3 one has a demo. Anybody play the Vita version?
Might be fun with twisting the Vita around or incredibly frustrating.

blecch...no cross buy

Well...crap. I just saw this sale and do not have a way to get online with my PS3 today or tomorrow. Thanks for the updates, teach me to not keep on this thread.

I agree, though I wish there was more games I don't have. The last one I wanted that I didn't have was Double Dragon and before that I think it was Shank 2...

December 4th PlayStation Plus Update

BioShock 2 (PS3)

Free for Plus members

Years after the events of the original BioShock, a monster has begun snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture (and recent star of PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale), the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers.

Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 (PS3)

10% off for PlayStation Plus members (Regular price: $59.99, PS Plus Price: $53.99)

An amazing value, this collection features Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, L.A. Noire, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition. Plus members can enjoy a 10% discount on this new release to PSN.

Puddle (PS3 and PS Vita Versions)

50% off for PlayStation Plus members (PS3 Plus Price: $3.50; PS Vita Plus Price: $2.80)

Experience a brilliantly designed physics-based puzzle/platform game where you must guide a puddle of fluid to its target destination, not by moving the fluid, but by tilting the game world. It’s a unique twist on the puzzle genre and both PS3 and PS Vita versions are 50% off. Please note, this game is not cross-buy or cross-play enabled; so choose the best version for you, or if you’re a big fan, buy both!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s update. Tune in next week where we’ll have another fantastic title to keep you gaming with PlayStation Plus. Head to the PlayStation Plus forums to continue the conversation and find other Plus fans, and make sure you make your voice heard in the comments below. As always, thanks for your feedback and we’ll see you next week!
Bioshock 2
File size 9.2 GB :hot:

PS+ killing my 500 GB HDD :whee::whee:

next generation should come with 1 TB HDD as minimum
Well the WiiU comes with 8 GB, brilliant!

Picked up Growlanser the other day, it sounds like its right up my alley. I won't be playing it until I get done with Gravity Rush, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

As someone who played a LOT of Disgaea 2 would I like this or not? I loved it but I'm really not interested in another 400+ hour game.

Bioshock 2 is a nice add on but I own it on the 360 with all dlc so I am not really too excited about this. Good for those who don't already have it though.
I hate that splash screen so much. It's way too fucking loud. Love the game though.
I quite like it because of the song itself. The splash screen for Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is the worst by far due to the loud sound effects that are used at the beginning for this loud cacophony of noise.
I've noticed that almost all the splash screens have volumes set to max. I'd love a volume slider where I can set it to about 1/4 of the current volume. The worst is the Battlefield game I have. It's just a rumbling bass. I'm pretty sure every time it comes on my sub is going to blow.
It's more due to the type of music that's used. There are plenty that use low key or pleasant songs that don't feel like you're in a silent house and you've accidentally changed to the extremely loud channel on the TV that scares the crap out of you.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Pain are set at different volumes despite one featuring a rock song and the other featuring a cacophony of music, sound effects, and voice clips.

Others I'll have to record are Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rag Doll Kung-Fu: Fists of Plastic, Beat Hazard Ultra, and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chickens.

The Awesomenauts splash screen makes good use of its awesome theme song:

i already had Biohazard 5 with DLC, Dungeon Defenders, Quantum Conundrum, Bioshock 2 and alot others, but ps+ is still such a great value and def worth it.

Breakfuss Bioshock2 is its own story, i think it is totally independent from Bio1. no idea tho
Well the WiiU comes with 8 GB, brilliant!
But you can also use a non-propriety external hard drive to store your data on the Wii U (say an affordable TB drive) or a large SD card which are pretty cheap so it's a step in the right direction.

I just filled up my 500GB on my ps3. It's mainly due to PS+ so no complaints but man, it is easy to eat up memory these days.
Can Bioshock 2 be played if I never played the first?
I would say that you should play Bioshock 1 first, the story and atmosphere is great. IMO it is way better than Bioshock 2, which for me is more like an expansion of Bio 1.
Can Bioshock 2 be played if I never played the first?
It takes place a few years after Bio1. It ties back to 1 in a few places (one achievement for sure) and just as a general setting Rapture is much more unstable than it was in 1 (Structurally and politically).

I see on the blog that they are gonna try to have deals to match EU through December. Anyone think this is too good to be true?
Can Bioshock 2 be played if I never played the first?
One could argue that you can play the lesser 2 first and then play the superior 1 afterwards.
But the original really sets the mood and atmosphere and story so you can appreciate how their society has fallen in the sequel.

If this continues I might not have to buy new games for awhile lol.
Can Bioshock 2 be played if I never played the first?
If you missed Bioshock, I highly recommend running out to grab yourself a copy as soon as possible. Easily my favorite non-RPG game this gen, and probably on my top 10 all time. I liked the sequel as well, but to this day I still feel that a the single player and story development suffered because they were busy trying to tack on multiplayer. Also, the lack of Ken Levine is noticeable. I'm pretty happy with the decision to leave multiplayer out of Infinite. More companies need to realize that multiplayer doesn't have to be in every game.

I would just wait for infinite to go on sale, since it comes free with that.

I think this is why you should play the first one before the sequel. It's not that the story won't make sense. It's that the character of Rapture is so different in the sequel you won't be drawn into the story as easily or feel any need to keep playing in the weaker moments of the story. And anyone who's played it, and enjoyed it, will know what I mean when I refer to the city as an actual character in the story.

Im a noob to ps+ and my gf got me a white vita under the tree, when do the freebies expire? I saw that Bioshock replaced RE5 on the PS3 list, does that mean that RE5 Gold will be gone tomorrow? It has move support right? Might have to sign up and download that!
Any idea guys?

I'll get Bioshock 2, even though I have it on the 360 that I got from Blockbuster awhile back. I didn't know there was DLC in Bioshock 2?!

Maybe I'll just buy the DLC on the PSN when I have the money. I prefer getting DLC from the PSN.

Well the looks of things. I probably should get a hard drive larger than 500GB.

Maybe, I'll get a 750GB. When it comes to upgrading from that, hopefully I'll make it to where about 500GB of data will be left to be backed up. I heard you could only back-up 500GB at a time using the PS3's back utility tool.

If you're referring to Morgan's comment, he is a customer/public relations employee for Sony. He gets paid to say that every week.

But if you're asking if I think we'll get 6 games this month, I don't know. I think we'll definitely get 4 or 5. My guess is 3 PS3 games and 1 Vita game for the month. Also just noticed that Christmas falls on a Tuesday, I wonder if they'll do a Monday or Wednesday update that week so they can give everyone Tuesday off.
Im a noob to ps+ and my gf got me a white vita under the tree, when do the freebies expire? I saw that Bioshock replaced RE5 on the PS3 list, does that mean that RE5 Gold will be gone tomorrow? It has move support right? Might have to sign up and download that!
Any idea guys?
all the games expire after a short while of being available. We usually get a little bit of warning when that will be. However, if you're already signed up for PS+ you can add them to your download list and they'll be available for as long as you're a PS+ member. (You can do this with the Vita games too on your PS3)

They expire when they're announced to expire, which is different for every game. RE5 Gold Edition will no longer be free for PS+ with tomorrow's update, so you'll have to grab it before then to get it. Yes, you can play it with Move.
Bioshock 2, sweet!

I normally hate FPS's, but I enjoyed Bioshock 1. It is an innovative entry in an otherwise stale genre.
1 and 2 were made by different developers and most people agreed that Bioshock 2 was an awful game. While it wasn't THAT BAD, it's nowhere near on par with Bioshock.

I really enjoyed Bioshock 2. I didn't hate the first, but I did, and still do, hate the sheer amount of praise it gets. It's nowhere near the revolutionary title people think it is. System Shock 2 was a much more involving experience. It's a cool idea with a great setting, but it's far from gaming's savior.

Infinite does look really neat, though. Hope it's good.

Saw your earlier post about Ghostbusters, if you haven't deleted the game data from your ps3, the splash screen and music will still show up when you highlight it there under the Game Data section. I've noticed this for some others games too, but not all games.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "most people" disliked Bioshock 2 when it managed to get an 88 Metacritic average. Bioshock 1 has a stronger story and the atmosphere feels fresh and unique. Bioshock 2 is a much, much better playing game if for nothing else than there's a reason to use more than just your melee weapon throughout the entire game. While each game has its own strengths and weaknesses they are both still very solid games.

Haha, right Thrinn. I used the wrench for everything in Bioshock 1.

**Tiny Spoiler**

Easiest method of defeating the final boss - the wrench works for every form.

I actually liked Bioshock 2 a lot and wasn't aware of all the hate for the game. Like you said, It wasn't as good as the first one but it's still a great game IMO.

at least more people will be playing bioshock 2 multiplayer, i still have to get a few stupid online trophies and it was looking pretty dead/broken.

I think the 88 critic score and 8.3 user score on Metacritic would say that most people enjoyed the crap out of Bioshock 2. I have never once (other than your post) heard it referred to as an "awful game."

Only bad stuff for Bioshock 2 was the mp and the best weapon in the game the wrench cannot be used in the story.

the dlc is very good tho
-Protector Trials
-Minerva's Den

they had a huge sale the tuesday before and that same sale lasted all the way until the new year, giving them a long holiday break

I like how review scores are only applicable if they're on your side. Spelunker HD is also like a 56 on Metacritic, yet most people here seem to like it and others would agree it's got enough value to justify the "average" score of 7. Call of Duty Declassified is a 31, yet there are over 100 "green" user scores for that game and plenty of people that defend that game like it's amazing. In the end, the truth is relative.

I've only seen people complain about the game being bad or not as good as 1 and I've seen it regarded as one of the worst multiplayer experiences this generation. This in my opinion lead to all the sales / deals that we've seen. (it's been $5 dollars at least 5 different times, is one of the most common collectors editions and many places still had it in stock after a year...) After this people had lower expectations and thus the game was regarded a bit higher.

Just got an alert to update my Vita to version 2.01. I don't recall hearing anything about it...

EDIT: In Googling it, I guess it has something to do with fixing cloud saving, which I didn't know was broken.

I loved Bioshock 1 and thought that when Bioshock 2 was announced that it was going to be a disastrous cash-in attempt to turn a single game into a franchise. Then I actually gave #2 a chance and couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it.

Easily an 8/10 in my book, it was plenty challenging (especially since I only play Bioshock without those stupid fucking revival chambers enabled) and the story ended up being far more interesting than I originally thought it would be. Others are right that the going value of the game makes it a little silly as a PS+ offering, but if the DLC goes on sale afterward I'm very interested in Minerva's Den.

And, if you haven't played it, give it a shot, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Doesn't auto-upload saves for me, so I hope that's the fix!

I have to say, now that I 'get it' - Vita + WiFi Content Manager + PS+ = smaller memory cards make more sense. Moving content around wirelessly to your PC/PS3 and uploading saves is pretty slick.

Wish this update would hurry up, was just getting ready to dig in to PS All Stars.

Wow, come on. Just because it's someone's opinion doesn't mean it can't be ridiculous. If people honestly believe Bioshock 2 had the worst multiplayer of this generation they obviously haven't played Brink, Duke Nukem, Call of Juarez: The Cartel or Mindjack, and those are just from the top of my head. Don't get me wrong, Bioshock 2's multiplayer was tacked on just like the others but there's many more titles that deserve "worst multiplayer of this gen." I think people were just disappointed in Bioshock 2 because there was a lot of anticipation and they were expecting it to be better than the first.

Crap, I paid $20 for Bioshock 2 when that was still a good deal. Yes, It's still in my backlog D:

Oh, I didn't know it was going to be able to auto-upload saves, that's cool. Hopefully this is the fix then!
